>can't wait to see this badly designed clunky game with esoteric mechanics be rightfully dropped so i can pretend enjoying this crappy game requires intelligence and rare good taste
why do people like this exist? i played and beat this garbage as a teen but it was because i had no standards. its just not a fun game.
that's harsh, anon. I thought the game had enough redeeming qualities to make it worth playing. The music and graphics gave the game a nice atmosphere.
it looks and sounds great but it doesn't play great at all. even some of the storyline stuff is cool but the core game is just so bad. it throws way too many throwaway nobody characters at you, towns feel very lifeless and barren, it's full of beautiful watercolor maps with nothing interesting in them, and it doesn't give any of its story arcs time to breathe. the game is just an unpolished, uneven mess.
SF1 remaster runs a lot faster than the original does. A huge amount of it is loading times being disguised which, on weak hardware, greatly lengthens them.
The story of the guy without magic getting strong on big swords was the greatest RPG story I've ever played. Too bad the years go by too fast and you play as his descendants later on, also the other half of the game is that dungeon explorer dude that picks wrong girl.
Also the backgrounds looked gorgeous on a CRT back then.
Pretty sure he said he’s not going to retire until he remasters all of his SaGa games.
What’s so bad about SF2? I bought a copy when it came out and the game would freeze an hour and a half in. Exact same spot every time so I kinda forgot about it.
>What’s so bad about SF2?
I've not yet played it myself (it and Unlimited are the only two I haven't touched) but from what I gather from a recent SaGa thread on /vrpg/. >game is incredibly linear compared to other titles in the series >very limited exploration >the game's tendency to throw you into late game knowledge check scenarios it doesn't prepare you for >a myriad of other small annoyances that appear to add up
>Please be patient
I don't know why people would be impatient for it. Minstrel Song Remastered came out last year and a new entry is coming out soon. With Kawazu announcing this I wouldn't be surprised it's coming out this year. It has to be if they seemed to start to dip their toes with how people want Unlimited Saga to be tackled.
Well then, a third one would have been most interesting.
It'll be made more playable with speed options. SaGa Frontier 2 is so unbearably slow.
It's obvious, especially since they added that to the SF1 remake.

>What’s so bad about SF2?
Only one thing. Mound. Top. Battle.
>Well then, a third one would have been most interesting
Well the next entry in the SaGa series after SaGa Frontier 2 was Unlimited Saga. The original SaGa trilogy had sci-fi and high fantasy for all three games along with varying races. The Romancing SaGa trilogy had more of a similar setting in different worlds with their own lore. Making another SaGa Frontier wouldn't have any standardization on what it would be. The new SaGa games named after colors, Scarlet Grace and Emerald Beyond, seem to have a lot in common with one another in regards of battle mechanics and map traversal.
I was thinking about this recently and just finished it again last week, was worried they might not port it.
Bought the RS3 again and finished up the last of the SaGa ports on PC at new year and thought this one would take a while or get skipped over for now in favour of an easy port after emerald but I'm glad to see them doing it.
With this confirmed there's no way that they leave unlimited on its own.
>With this confirmed there's no way that they leave unlimited on its own.
They did a Twitter survey seeing fan interest in how Unlimited Saga should be tackled. Years ago they also said they have a remaster and a remake they still want to do. It doesn't seem like Unlimited Saga will maintain its old form.
SF2 is a visual and aural masterpiece but there's way less fun shit to do and lacks the rewarding feeling of mastering the series' usual byzantine mechanics imo. there's just not enough opportunities to frick around with when it comes to party composition or whatever, entire sequences are over before you know it and you'll never get to play with the vast majority of the cast again after their 1 or 2 quests are up. it's such a shame too because the grandiose presentation is in service of an interesting generational historical fantasy novel that feels like half the chapters missing
SF1's got its problems too and its also very blink-or-you-miss-it on the storytelling (even more esoteric, fragmented shit going on there that requires extra reading outside the game) but the game's enough of a playground and toybox that you have a more fun, wacky game in there somewhere.
SaGa Frontier 1 and 2 and even the SNES titles looked better than this slop
Why are they hiring shitty gacha-tier arists to do the artwork?
Why not hire a decent manga artist?

Kids don’t play SaGa
Just hire a proper manga artist and illustrator
Stop hiring people who draw generic slop, might as well just use AI art at this point
Even a shitty artist like Raita at least has some soul and his style is recognizable

Worked for anime, making nothing but garbage for a generation and people won't even know how bad things really are.
>please be excited for the last of 2 SaGa games left on the remake/remaster chopping block in which the gameplay is overhauled and regarded as the definitive edition
Now, you hold yer horses because the next step in his master plan is remaking all the mobile "not a real SaGa" games and revolutionising the mobage market alongside NieR Re[in]carnation.
And aye, he has done it before all the Ivalice remasters that people have been begging for. XII RW, FFTA, FTTA2, FF T? Vagrant Story? Piss off. SaGa is the better legacy project.
>saga frontier
I've gone back a few times and replayed the first part of Asellus' scenario because it has neat vibes, but I hate everything else about the game
Frontier 1 and 2 are different. In Frontier 2 you go through story segments plotted out on a map during a certain year. Do the scenario and then you're back on the map to select the next plot point.
Can't wait to see this masterpiece filter a whole new generation of poser Square fanboys.
>can't wait to see this badly designed clunky game with esoteric mechanics be rightfully dropped so i can pretend enjoying this crappy game requires intelligence and rare good taste

You have no standards for making such an abhorrent post.

they hated him for speaking the truth
Hot frick this is good news. I fricking loved that game but don't have a ROM for it anymore.
Did you have to delete it after 24 hours?
>filter a whole new generation of poser Square fanboys
Wrong game
Nobody really seemed to know what to make of this game when it came out, but more recent SaGas seem to take a lot from it. Great soundtrack.
To be fair, that game filtered most SaGa fans as well.
SaGa Frontier 1 >>>>>>>> SaGa Frontier 2 which is still really cool
That'll be Unlimited. Frontier 2 is fine.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Gameboy rereleases filtered people.
>the fugly duel models are now used everywhere, enjoy gaijin
I need more SaGa
Whens Unlimited Saga
Pretty sure he said he’s not going to retire until he remasters all of his SaGa games.

Pretty much it's just a SaGa game and that filters the frick out of some people. If you like SaGa it's pretty great.
>What’s so bad about SF2?

I hate that there are only two SaGa Frontier games.
I don't see why that matters. They are both radically different from one another.
Well then, a third one would have been most interesting.
It's obvious, especially since they added that to the SF1 remake.

Still better than the censored Crono Cross remaster

>SaGa Frontier 2 remaster
the first one was so boring I've never been able to stomach more than 20 minutes of it despite trying multiple times
not even emulating, I bought the actual game like the day it launched
>games have to be fun
Is SF1 or SF2 a better game? I will say SF2 has got to be one of the prettiest looking 2D games for PS1 the hand-drawn backgrounds are peak-aesthetic.
SaGa Frontier 1 is.
2 has a better soundtrack
I'm in the Kenji Ito camp.

I don’t like games you first need to check on gamefaqs before having fun.
You shouldn't be doing that with games.
>some guy
>"i'm going to remaster saga frontier 2"
>normal people
>"why"
>Kawazu
>Because it exists
>Please be excited for old games from the 90s
This is sad
What about a new game instead?
There's a new SaGa game coming out soon too
>That soulless generic art style and HUD
Looks like mobileslop
uhh, nobody complained about it in the past 736 titles that used the same art style and hud
SaGa Frontier 1 and 2 and even the SNES titles looked better than this slop
Why are they hiring shitty gacha-tier arists to do the artwork?

>guys, get this... it's a jrpg but... everything... literally EVERYTHING... is a consumable!
I'm honestly surprised that SaGa wasn't turned into a cash shop money printing franchise considering its very nature.
There are at least two mobile gachas under the SaGa brand
>saga frontier
I've gone back a few times and replayed the first part of Asellus' scenario because it has neat vibes, but I hate everything else about the game
What is the appeal of SaGa Frontier anyway? My experience with it is that you run around the world and story events just happen randomly.
Frontier 1 and 2 are different. In Frontier 2 you go through story segments plotted out on a map during a certain year. Do the scenario and then you're back on the map to select the next plot point.
>slop
Opinion discarded, back to /trash/
Baffling reading such low quality posts on a SaGa thread
