Samsung could literally buttfrick both Nintendo and Sony at any moment if they wanted to
>Have powerful as frick ARM SoCs that could mog the T239/Switch 2
>Be on the cutting edge of mobile display tech
>Sneak out a concept for a foldable game console at last year's CES
>Goodwill for Nintendo and Sony among hardcore gamers has been declining since The Big House C&D and PS5 launch
>South Korea is already the next Asian cultural superpower and have boycotted the Japanese multiple times in the past decade

They don't have Mario and Zelda though. They're irrelevant
Neither did Sony back in '94
and now their console is irrelevant.
I wouldn't call Playstation irrelevant when the switch is no better than a phone since it's mostly used to babysit toddlers
Sony got Final Fantasy VII
Real fricking talk, I was just reading about the PS1's history and that only ever did as well as it did because so many things surrounding the PS1 and related to the PS1 itself were labors of love.
The people working for it were legitimately passionate.
Nowadays sony killed off the last remnants of that era (sony studios japan) and the only people making games for them since the second half of the ps4's lifetime until now are almost exclusively ESG brainrot circlejerkers.
Why did you list Samsung not having the worst Nintendo series as a bad thing?
A Melee tournament that Nintendo fricked over.
MUH MELEE
The general public doesnt care about zelda. They only care about mario and pokemon.
wdym, normalgays eat up Zelda more then the bing bing wahoo man
You wish. The Zelda movie will probably outgross the Mario movie
>Mario and Zelda
Who? Why would they care about some random employees?
>the entire switch library has been playable at 1080p with native fps on 8gen SoCs for a year now
>switch games on the go, on a smaller, better device
>yuzu is gone and not coming back
can't have shit in detroit
i don't care about PC emulation, this was the fricking future, and it was taken from me
>They don't have ma-
holy shit
The fact that this game doesn't have controller support is ridiculous.
>The Big House C&D
The what?
you forget the part where it needs great games that are beloved
no, Koreans lack creativity so they can never make a profit on a market where the profits are only from selling software and console exclusives.
For an example, Sony sells Playstations at a loss to get people to buy their video games on their platform.
Even if Samsung makes a decent console all they would do is bankrupt themselves to make a product that the market can afford.
I agree.
If you look at anything Samsung, LG, Kia, Hyundai, Hisense, etc. etc. has ever made you will find hundreds of products that are veiled copies of more successful and better designed Japanese and Taiwanese products.
On the surface they all function just as well but they lack that full consideration of design that makes their genuine counterparts successful. They are all soulless copycats and people can tell deep down. That's why even in its home market the samsung galaxy phones are getting drowned out by iphone as a status symbol. And I hate iphone.
I don't fully buy that, but hear me out. LG used to make weird and wonderful phones. Their final flagship, the V60, was everything a modern smartphone should be. Fast, powerful, flexible, with enthusiast features that other major players had long abandoned or had shunted off to separately purchased hardware. Their displays are still extremely high class, comparing favorably against other major brands in terms of color accuracy and build quality. Kia and Hyundai are largely budget-oriented manufacturers, but to their credit, particularly Hyundai's, they're at least making some good looking, visually striking vehicles that actually stand out on the road. If they can ever get their overall build quality up to snuff with the Japanese, they'd be a real power player. I'm old enough to remember when JP cars were referred to as Jap Crap for their low build quality, but now Toyota stands atop the market for resale value and reliability, and I suspect SK could get their too. I've no arguments against you on HiSense and Samsung though. HiSense proudly wears their budget status on their sleeve, and Samsung, where once they stood as a proper cell company that made a variety of high grade handsets, now offer a dozen crap units and then have the iPhone competitor on top of the heap.
I agree that LG and Samsung used to at least make competitive smartphones. They no longer do because they arent motivated by anything but profit. I also dont agree about modern Korean cars.
They called them Jap crap because "they" were the same people who just got done shooting and bombing the Japanese after their war buddies got gored in front of them. Without the motivation of racism and war, the modern audience can still see korean cars as low cost landfill material.
LG doesn't make any phones now, and it's honestly a shame. I do agree that Korean cars need to be a lot better, though. I just love the way some of them look. The Ioniq 5 is such a visually striking car, especially for the category, but I'm also well aware that they're prone to significant electrical and mechanical issues. Personally I drive American, not out of any sort of patriotism, but just because my 01 Silverado has been paid off for years, has almost 300k on the clock, and just won't die. Routine maintenance and a water pump at 200k, that's it.
>now offer a dozen crap units
I don't know about their full product range, but they still offer solid mid range phones and tablets. The A23 is good enough for most people in most cases and the A53 is more than good enough in most cases. You might find better value elsewhere depending on what margins you want to sacrifice, of course. The Android tablet market is especially dire too.
The tablet market I think is in the state its in partially due to the death of the market for those devices. If you want a full-featured device that's basically just a computer with a high quality touchscreen, Microsoft and Apple have that corner covered, along with a slew of 2 in 1 manufacturers, and the low end market has been so thoroughly flooded by total crap to perfectly fine tablets in the sub-100 range that there's no real market space for a 200-300 dollar tablet, where Samsung used to hold the market. I actually recently bought a 100-ish USD non-name tablet of Amazon that reviewed well, and serves my purposes perfectly, but I can't think of a single thing it does that could justify a more expensive device, but also bought it to replace a poorly aged Fire 8 HD that ran like molasses and was badly crippled by its reliance on a functionally dead app store.
[Insert asiatic company] could literally buttfrick both [Insert Japanese company] and [Insert other Japanese company] at any moment if they wanted to.
Too bad it would run android. Enjoy your literal phone games.
Nintendo will be fine with their exclusives and Sony isn’t really in the handheld market. Unless they could bring something to the table, like competitive exclusives or hardware that wrecks the Steam Deck at a smaller size and lower price, it wouldn’t be that successful.
>0 games
Ok gay
You said the same about the deck.
>anybody but shower dodgers caring about Melee tournaments
lol
lmao
Problem is though, at this point would anyone be willing to challenge Nintendo's handheld dominance? The Deck and its various Windows-based derivatives have been nice to see, but those are largely niche devices for people willing to dig into an OS and learn its ins and outs to some level in order to maximize their usage, so they have limited market reach. An Android-based portable running smartphone SoC is largely a moot point, as the kind of people that would want something like this for CoD Mobile or emulation are likely already achieving similar results with a Backbone or other similar clip on control systems. So where does that leave Samsung? They're in a position to push hardware, maybe, but without a strong first party software division to back it up, they'd be dead in the water, and on that front they're fighting a huge uphill battle against Nintendo's established library and Valve's established distribution system, and for what? To sell a device with limited market appeal at what would most likely be an unattractive MSRP for the target demographic, with all the tooling, R&D, and software development costs landing squarely on their shoulders.
>South Korea is already the next Asian cultural superpower
>the worst birthrate in the world
The novelty of hardware doesn't matter as much anymore. The Switch's unique form was a big part of its success, but it's ultimately a Nintendo system and being Nintendo is what sold it. The Game Gear and Neo Geo Pocket didn't beat the GB, and that was the 90s. The PSP had as good a position as it possibly could have, but Sony didn't "buttfrick" Nintendo either.
At most, Samsung could buttfrick companies like Retroid or compete in the handheld PC market with Valve and the rest.
what we do with this hardware if there is no games?
I'm old so please understand, the snapdragon thing has turned my world upside down. I never thought I would live long enough to play PS2 games on my phone. I can buy attachable controllers, use wireless headphones. I actually look forward to 14 hour shifts. I can play all the emulators, all the games I couldn't afford in my younger years, and I don't even need a dedicated device. The future definitely sucks, but for now I am content.
How old padre
blessed gamer
may you never be inconvenienced by frame drops
Frame drops are an essential part for an authentic PS2 experience.
What are you emulating right now based oldbro?
I am playing Gravity Rush on Vita3k.
>korean games
Oh boy I love mtx and canceled features
now show the battery life and cooling issues on that thing
> muh battery life
Everyone just carries a battery with them gramps. Its actually superior because I can charge my other battery while im using this one and it lasts for like 10 hours of gayming
pretty sure the rise of smartphones killed handheld consoles and eventually PCs will kill consoles if consoles get any more expensive
The Switch exists, and it's currently the third best selling game console of all time. There's definitely something to having a handheld device that does longer experiences that the very pick-up-and-play nature of mobile gaming just can't satisfy.
nobody in their right mind plays switch in public
Surprised Samsung hasn't done this seeing as how Koreans fricking DESPISE Japanese people.
You forget that Koreans absolutely eat up Japanese culture. Post-war, South Korea was rife with copyright infringement, primarily of Ultraman and other tokusatsu shows to get around the government's embargo of Japanese products. They love that shit, and will stop at nothing to get their hands on it.
Honestly if Switch 2 doesn't have a foldable screen then Nintendo is utterly moronic.
Imagine going back to the DS or having one bigger screen you could make anything with it.
Foldable displays are a complete reliability nightmare, and the vast majority of content would use only one screen.
they have the tech
they don't have the vidya
nintendo consistently proves people will buy shit hardware with the right vidya on it
Hardware is only as good as the software.
great another shit handheld to add to the pile
1. These screens break at random
2. Samsung has shit warranty honoring
3. Most of the time when one of these folding screens does break, they dont even have the parts for a month or 2.
>2. Samsung has shit warranty honoring
>that asiatic sent out on a warrantee call that literally damaged a guys TV with a razor to not honor the warrantee
>big house C&D
As a rabid smash circuit fan literally no one cares
samsung couldn't frick its underwear if it had an open fly
test
>bornerline Korean propaganda
Got tired of screeching at woman making frick of your wiener again Sum Ting Wong?
Why would they when quantum computing and, Allah forgive me, AI are much more profitable in the long term? Only real competition Samsung has is IBM.
Samsung makes dog shit devices but enjoy being fricked by mobile game companies moron cause that's where the real money is and Samsung follows the money
