Back in the old days we used to talk about 'secrets, hacks, and tricks' on the playground and school busses where somebody's dad likely worked for Nintendo, or just had an older brother show him. I'm pretty sure you never fight a single bug type pokemon with bug type moves in the entire game except for Bugsy's scyther, which gets one shot by anything that isnt a grass type

Pretty much.
Canon wise as well, it's hard to justify Totodile when you have a cool shiny water type later on.
Cyndaquil, Umbreon, Togetic/Kiss, Sudowoodo, Gyarados Rojo, and Ampharos or Scizor are the Johtochad team.
for stadium multiplayer I rare candied my graveler to lvl 100 and was really upset when I had to send my monsters to a new cartridge and my friend didn't stop the evolution. I didn't care the stats were now better, Golem sucks
>Johto's early roster is terrible
Johto's has amazing early game variety, moreso in crystal.
Hell, you can get 4-5 pokemon that can put miltank to sleep before you even face her, and most of them will actually tank the hit.
True but is also true. Most kids just see Geodude as that thing that gets one shot by their Water or Grass starter, or is miraculously two-shot by their Fire starter. It's sad because Graveler is actually designed to be pretty usable even if you don't have access to trades.
If you go into it completely blind and aren't prepared for it then Miltank can absolutely frick you. Pokemon games are not very hard, you can get through them without much effort. Miltank can actually be difficult so that would throw off a lot of people and therefore be memorable.
I was like 7 years old or some shit. The people complaining about Whitney are pulling memories from their childhood when we didn't have all the typings and their weaknesses memorized. I only leveled my Cindaquil and beat Miltank through brute force
I knew a kid in grade school who complained about not being able to beat whitney, and when i asked him to show me what he was doing, he showed me he was using butterfree like op. i told him he was a moron, and he just said it doesn't matter what pokemon you use as long as you love it. he's not exactly wrong because these games arent hard, but if you keep losing because of a type disadvantage and refuse to change your strategy, then you are a bonafide moron
>can be obtained before the first gym >actually learns some decent stab moves in gen 2 >beats the flying guy >beats the bug guy >beats whitney >beats morty >good shot at beating jasmine >beats a good chunk of the E4's pokemon >beats most of team rocket and all of the other shitty bug, poison, and flying type pokemon every other trainer has
Geodude is a legitimately great choice in GSC, it's a little worse in HGSS but still one of the better options.
She's a filter and it was a time where people didn't know weaknesses like that.
She rolls all three starters as well and most people playing usually just max those guys out. Even the Machop, is usually a lower level for that fight because most people just caught the Drowzee and immediately traded.
You can literally just use your starter pokemon for the entire game it will accumulate so much exp you won't need to worry about weaknesses and shit just nuke everybody. It's a game for babies.
Just checked, Miltank is faster than Butterfree so unless the AI is dumb or Rollout misses, you don't get a shot off, and even if you do, Sleep Powder is likely to miss as well
In my country the milktank episode was premiered as the new season o Pokemons and stuff. Was it like that everywhere? I remember being hyped along my brother
S/V is honestly not completely terrible, I had fun and enjoyed the open world and some of the new Pokemon. Not worth $60 though, so pirate. Just go in with low expectations, the game is still a fricking mess.
But honestly since you stopped at 3, I would just recommend Platinum, HGSS, or gen 5 instead. Much better.
PLA was good because gamefreak was trying something new instead of the same game 20 times in a row.
They won't experiment again, when Unova remake time comes it'll be a carbon copy of PLA set in America, released a few months after an awful outsourced port of the DS games with worse graphics.
what i'm wondering with the inevitable remakes of BW is what they'll do with the plot. In every other remake they included all the stuff from the third version, but BW didn't have a 3rd version. I can't really see them remaking both BW and BW2, so it would be a better endeavor to make Legends Kyurem, especially since we don't have the original dragon yet
Hoping for Legends Celebi so I can actually get a fricking Celebi. I didn't know I could have gotten one if I'd bought Crystal on the eshop and now it's too late...
never understood why people struggled so hard with this. just use a gastly. curse the miltank as soon as whitney switches it in and it will bleed out over 4 turns. easy win
Its because people are kids when they play this game, so they just use the strongest attacking move possible. In reality there are plenty of ways to deal with it, but most dont involve big moves >Sleep >Paralysis >Sand attack to stop the rollout buildup >Growl to mitigate damage >Defensive mons like Geodude >Ghosts >Someone said there was a machop trade nearby
But kids are just gonna click Ember/WaterGun over and over again
Honestly this is the only reasonable answer, the only thing you could know beforehand is that it's a Normal-type so you'd want the Machop, resisting Rollout and Attract are major bonuses.
The correct way to beat miltank is to not beat it at all. Store your money with your mother and intentionally lose to Whitney over and over again. Her clefairy gives shitloads of exp and you can use it to powerlevel your Pokemon over and over by losing. Eventually all your Pokemon will be a higher level than Miltank and you can brute force it, and everything that comes after.
>Just walk all the way back home and then back to Goldenrod again, then back to the gym from the Pokemon Center over and over and over and over again, it's faster bro trust me

Well, I do actually grind like crazy/a lot as well until I could beat the gym leader.

favourite gen2 mon and favourite mon over all. evolving scizor for first time in gen2 felt like discovering some secret. then it to learn Metal Claw felt so cool because it was pretty much its signature move in gen2.
>Action replay >Catch trainers pokemons >Go to even islands >Walk thru walls >Get other kids jealous for having loads of Legendaries >Get called out by one of them
Kek good times.
One of my favorite things about Pokken is how it depicted a Pokemon's speed in an actual fight. It made me consider how other Pokemon's speed stats would translate to an arena setting. It makes complete sense that Fug would not be lightning fast in a fight, even if it can travel vast distances faster than most other Pokemon. Rayquaza is huge. In a close quarters battle, it's literally taking up half the arena and its opponent does not have to work THAT hard to catch up with it.
>Not using any status on the milktank >Not setting up on the clefairy >Not using debuffs on the milktank >Not using the trade machop designed for morons that couldn't do any of the above
You deserve to lose
I have no idea how 30 year old men still play these games when I was already falling asleep at the wheel from lack of challenge at 10 and its only gotten worse in the last 20 years.
A turn based game with no challenge is like a fighting game with no combos. Whats the point of planning out a team and thinking about your next move when you can just mash the A button with your starter and win every time
You were driving at 10? Were your parents passed out drunk in the back? You must've been a clever kid to be able to play pokemon AND drive at the same time. What happened that made you end up here?
Back then we kids used to get those toy cars we could drive that ran on batteries. I guess a lot of zoomers aren't into this stuff since you guys grew up with smartphones instead.
I agree with you anon. I have more nostalgia for the OG gen 1 and 2 games than really anything else but these games are clearly for young children not grown ass 30+ year old men. I dislike most of the designs anyways especially with some like that ice cream cone.
i can't in good faith raise a geodude or machop knowing i can never evolve it
kills it for me, i just can't do it. i need to be able to raise it to completion. no evolution blueballs for me
i would rather spam sand attacks and leers with throwaway pokemon. let them get killed, and then just finish the miltank with my starter when he's crippled
Do you like Heracross?? You can catch one Just after you get the TM for Headbut.
Just headbut the trees in the city of the Bug Gym. There are 2 trees next to the market, you can catch Heracross easy.
that's a good point, anon
and on playthroughs when i got older, i did just that
as a little kid, i had no idea you could catch him at that point
More tricks, for HG/SS, don't Works on OG G/S.
You can catch level 23 Steelix after "Fighting Gym". Just Go in the "new area" that connects to battle frontier, use a level 23 pokémon as peças on a cave, and use repel. A Steelix Will appear.
Similar tricks can be used for Lv.50 Magikarp. level +30 pokemon and repel, surf in the route that connects to lake of rage( the one with red gyarados)
All gym leaders have six pokemon. Better level curve but still vanilla (easy). All non-legendary Pokemon are obtainable before reaching the Elite Four (good luck figuring out where some of them are without the guide). Free Eevee at the start alongside your normal starter. There is both a true vanilla version (only the above) and an updated one; updated version adjusts lots of Pokemon stats and moves for the better, makes tasteful changes like Farfetch'd becoming Fighting/Flying or Glalie Rock/Ice, most Hidden Abilities are now obtainable, and certain moves get adjustments so they can still be useful (Cut becomes a 60 power Grass move)
This is how Pokemon team sizes should be. Release a gen where you only have a team of 4 mons. 6 is too much and you end up not wanting to train most of them anyways since its more optimal to train 1-3 of them at most.
What other trainers/gym leaders were odd difficulty spikes in the earlier pokemon games? I remember a rocket grunt had a Raticate in mt moon that would frick you over pretty bad in R/B
That Raticate feels like it should have been the last Rocket you fight in Mt Moon. Misty's Starmie hits like a truck if you don't resist water. Norman can be dangerous in Emerald if you try to get cute and use your newly acquired Toxic on him
not exactly an earlier game but these chucklefricks can frick you up good.
both furfrou are much faster than anything you'll reasonably have, they're tanky as all hell since their ability flat out doubles defense, they have headbutt at this point so odds are they're gonna flinch something every turn, and it's a double battle.
only reason they're not memed to hell is because it's an optional fight.
Tate and Liza in Emerald were the only time I got walled in a vanilla pokemon game.
I was just a little kid, but they actually made me think about team composition and how to play smart and not just spam strong attacks.
There aren't a whole lot of DS hacks.
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4575/
This is for BW1 but it's the closest thing to what you want.
I guess you can try using a randomizer but not changing starters and messing with the settings to make spawns appropriate based on the location.
In gen 2 at least, Bugsy's TM is Fury Cutter: >Fury Cutter starts with a base power of 10. Every time it is used successively, its power will double, up to a maximum of 160 (which is five consecutive turns).
All of the starters second evos can learn it.
X Accs can be bought from the Goldenrod Dept. Store.
I'm convinced I just played Pokemon wrong my entire life. I would just capture pokemon that I thought looked cool, and build my team based off what I thought was a badass team. I didn't focus on types, stat metrics, weaknesses, or anything. I never even bothered to learn what types are strong/weak against other types. You have people out there focusing on how fast a certain stat grows on a certain pokemon, and I never bothered to learn about Special Attack and Special Defense. I just fricking used a pokemon with a strong attack and if it did nothing I switched pokemon and did it again, like a trial and error thing.
Yeah, managed to beat each one up until Pokemon X and Y, that's about when I dropped the series. I didn't play any Pokemon games after that.
Now that I think about it, I really haven't played a Pokemon game in a LONG TIME, I still like pokemon just got sick of the games. I was gonna play Arceus but it looked so bad, and same for Sword and Shield. I also just don't care for the Nintendo Switch.
I mean, sure, XY and later games are too fu@#$ easy, like impossible not to beat, but beating things like gen II-IV Red isn't easy task, unless your grind like Crazy for impossible high level.
Well, I do actually grind like crazy/a lot as well until I could beat the gym leader.
If you aren't playing autism romhacks and haveno interest in multiplayer then all that RPG nerd shit is completely optional. You really shouldn't be proud of not being able to understand an RPG made for illiterate children though
I'd bet you money that children now, or maybe 15-20 years ago, weren't so over analytical as to focus on stats and metrics. I suppose the autistic ones were.
If you aren't playing autism romhacks and haveno interest in multiplayer then all that RPG nerd shit is completely optional. You really shouldn't be proud of not being able to understand an RPG made for illiterate children though
>franchise made for 5 year olds >complete it playing like a 5 year old
what do you mean you're playing it wrong, it was made to accommodate children. you can beat every game with just your starter spamming flamethrower.
what was the fricking point of this post??
No that's the right way to play if you want to have fun, these games are boring as frick if you just roid out your starter and sweep every NPC team.
One of my most memorable playthroughs of pokemon ever was a run of Pearl version where I intentionally used the shittiest pokemon I could find and basically my ace ended up being an Onix with an Electric Hidden Power. I don't think I even beat the league in that save but I still remember using that fricking Onix to beat the Water gym because none of my other shitmons had anything that could hit Water super effectively.
It's more fun playing that way than trying to balance everything perfectly. That's basically what you did as a kid, just catch cool mons, see how they do, then either keep them or swap out for something else. Having the autism of knowing about EVs, balancing typings, natures, abilities, etc. means concerning yourself with it more and having less fun overall.
This, she would have had a better point if she was the champion and had a memorably tough fight.
But when she goes down like all the others her words ring false.
I'm pretty sure the only time any of my pokemon ever fainted was when my Fug fainted to a fricking Greedent. And I mean that, I don't think I ever had any other pokemon faint.
arven, but only because i was immensely underleveled. i went into the final titan fight in the mid-40s, had absolutely no trouble, and so i thought i'd continue the storyline because why the hell wouldn't you?
when he threw out the level 58 greedent against my level 45 arboliva i know i fricked up.
>bulk up twice >immune to stomp and takes 0 damage from rollout >drain punch

So what, charizard is twice weak to rock and i used him no problem to beat this gym when i was a kid
You didn't have a Charizard there. He wasn't even a starter and you'd be grossly overpowered. Shut the frick up cuck.
the frick are you talking about, charizard is literally a starter pokemon. you just pick him
wrong gen dumbass.
trolls used to be funny
How'd you get a Charizard at the beginning of GSC unless you traded your level 100 one from RBY?
It wouldn't even listen to him either way. Since he needs badges for it to not to ignore you 4/5 times.
That would be impossible anyway, because you don't get to trade with RBY until you meet Bill in Ecruteak City, you can't get to Ecruteak City until you clear the Sudowoodo in the middle of Route 36 until you get the Squirtbottle, the woman won't give you the Squirtbottle until you beat Whitney.
What if you trade to a copy of GSC and then trade from that copy of GSC to your current copy of GSC?
that works and is what I did once to do a game with the three kanto starters at the start
Based moron.
Brock's Onyx and Geodude had no Rock or Ground moves in gen 1. They only had Normal moves.
Isn't there a Machop you can trade for right there in the Goldenrod Dept Store
Or a geodude at the start of the game.
Honestly, people who have had trouble against Whitney's Miltank will always be a mystery to me.
No one likes or ever uses a geodude.
This, Geodude looks fricking stupid and you can't even fully evolve him unless you buy two gameboys and another copy of the game to trade between.
anon there are these things called romhacks
We're talking about the authentic GSC experience.
I prefer definitive over authentic. There are simple rom hacks that remove trade evolutions and make all 251 pokes available in crystal.
Yup, golem is one of my favorite pokemon but I never got one until gen 4 with internet trading, then I set the game down and never played again

Isn't it just the exact same as Charizard except without the flying type?
Looks like barbecue's on the menu tonight, boys.
homosexual
No wonder people have trouble with the game, then.
Johto's early roster is terrible, and Graveller is legitimately one of the best Pokemon around.
Am I the only one who thinks Graveller is a hell of a lot cooler than Golem? Same for Machoke, but only because of Machamp's fugly lips.
>Am I the only one who thinks Graveller is a hell of a lot cooler than Golem
No
Golem doesn't even belong in the geodude line. It's moronic.
for stadium multiplayer I rare candied my graveler to lvl 100 and was really upset when I had to send my monsters to a new cartridge and my friend didn't stop the evolution. I didn't care the stats were now better, Golem sucks
>Johto's early roster is terrible
Johto's has amazing early game variety, moreso in crystal.
Hell, you can get 4-5 pokemon that can put miltank to sleep before you even face her, and most of them will actually tank the hit.
>Uses water gun
Nothing personnel kid
Graveller is a MVP, even If you can't evolve It to golem.
>no one likes or ever uses a geodude
this Black person doesn't know about magnitude
True but is also true. Most kids just see Geodude as that thing that gets one shot by their Water or Grass starter, or is miraculously two-shot by their Fire starter. It's sad because Graveler is actually designed to be pretty usable even if you don't have access to trades.
homosexual
Golem is sick
If you go into it completely blind and aren't prepared for it then Miltank can absolutely frick you. Pokemon games are not very hard, you can get through them without much effort. Miltank can actually be difficult so that would throw off a lot of people and therefore be memorable.
>Miltank can absolutely frick you.
Hnnnnggggggg
Even as a kid, I didn't like using pokemon I wasn't committed to for the entire game.
Maybe I don't want to train a frick ugly pokemon that I'm gonna box the second I'm done with that c**t.
Geodude handles 3 straight gyms
And? It's shit ugly.
So is every Nido-shitter and you still see people sucking their dicks
>I only use pokemon I want to frick!
is it hard being a pedophile?
>pokemon I want to frick!
>pedophile
>POKEMON
wat
you can just say "yes" you know
I was like 7 years old or some shit.
A lot of kids use only their starter pokemon in pokemon games, Whitney is infamous because she can easily defeat all 3 starter pokemon
>can be obtained before the first gym
>actually learns some decent stab moves in gen 2
>beats the flying guy
>beats the bug guy
>beats whitney
>beats morty
>good shot at beating jasmine
>beats a good chunk of the E4's pokemon
>beats most of team rocket and all of the other shitty bug, poison, and flying type pokemon every other trainer has
Geodude is a legitimately great choice in GSC, it's a little worse in HGSS but still one of the better options.
Also in HGSS the goldenrod department store has TMs like flamethrower and other mid-lategame learnsets
Not flamethrower, but Fireblast. Fireblast makes cyndaquil the best starter, broken move too early in the game.
Oh yeah fireblast, been a decade since I last played
Butterfree, dodge it!
Pikachu! Grab onto the miltank's nipples and twist them while using thunderbolt!
HUH
Why do pokemon need to be told to doge something? Are they stupid?
I wonder what alakazam is thinking when I tell him to thunder punch a rhydon
>pokemon dodges automatically
>anger point or justified doesn't activate
>battle RUINED
They only know how to say their own names, of course they’re fricking dumb.
>pikachu zap his nipples with thunderbolt!
>WHY
>DIDN'T
>YOU
>DOOOOOOOODGE!?
>sandshrew used sand-attack
nuthin personnel Miltank
First mistake was to send out Buterfree
Get a Nidoran male at National Park and level it up until he learns Double Kick.
>Nidoran male
Doesn't her Miltank have Attract?
Isn't that the fricking enemy that spam healing moves ?
No, it's the enemy spamming perfectly accurate rollouts
>butterfree used sleep powder
Wow, so hard.
>first turn wake up
>rollout
Just checked, Miltank is faster than Butterfree so unless the AI is dumb or Rollout misses, you don't get a shot off, and even if you do, Sleep Powder is likely to miss as well
miltank is faster than pidgeot, and the pokedex says pidgeot flies at mach 2
MilGOD
Why do humans have so much autism about cow udders?
because women demanded rights so we had to settle for cows
Anon, it was the cows who demanded rights for women.
That's why you train Geodude
Bussin fr fr no cap
catch pineco
use self destruct on miltank
>have to autistically check every tree for a 30% chance spawn
No thanks
30% is almost 1/3rd of the time. It's not that bad
Or, use the headbutt website.
why are you so bad at video games?
....
man I could frick up a beef n' cheddar right now
>Complain about 30%
>When Ralts in emerald is about 3%
Most rare spawns in the franchise in general are 1%-5%. Pineco having a 30% appearance rate from a correct headbutt tree is downright generous.
If i was going to headbutt trees for a pokemon I would just spring for a heracross
In my country the milktank episode was premiered as the new season o Pokemons and stuff. Was it like that everywhere? I remember being hyped along my brother
Should I buy Scarlet/Violet? I'm a boomer who played gen 1,2 and 3 as a kid but havent played the other games.
Don't, the games died after gen 7
do you want to feel like your soul is leaving your body?
Scarlet/Violet is half garbage and half kino.
Pokemon died with the Switch. Don't bother
Get Legenda Arceus, it's way better
Gamefreak will kill you.
They will kill you slowly and maliciously.
You're still right but they will kill you.
> gamefreak will never make a similar game
if they were smart they would bring back the safari zone and make it play like this
PLA was good because gamefreak was trying something new instead of the same game 20 times in a row.
I can't really see them remaking both BW and BW2, so it would be a better endeavor to make Legends Kyurem, especially since we don't have the original dragon yet
buy Arceus first if you're a genwunner, but if you're into Gen3 designs then buy SV
Pure jankkino. Unironically the most soulful AAA game.
>AAA game
smarr indie studio, prease understandu
No
Do not enable GF
Johto remake next year?
Hoping for Legends Celebi so I can actually get a fricking Celebi. I didn't know I could have gotten one if I'd bought Crystal on the eshop and now it's too late...
Homebrew 3DS or if you have a copy of Colosseum and the necessary means you can transfer one from that to a Gen 3 game then to others.
ROLLOUT IMPRISONING ME
hypnotic
How did they get away with it? I thought Japanese games cant show nipples
It's a cow :sob:
Just use Headbutt on trees until you get a Heracross.
No stab in gen2, yeah seriously
never understood why people struggled so hard with this. just use a gastly. curse the miltank as soon as whitney switches it in and it will bleed out over 4 turns. easy win
Its because people are kids when they play this game, so they just use the strongest attacking move possible. In reality there are plenty of ways to deal with it, but most dont involve big moves
>Sleep
>Paralysis
>Sand attack to stop the rollout buildup
>Growl to mitigate damage
>Defensive mons like Geodude
>Ghosts
>Someone said there was a machop trade nearby
But kids are just gonna click Ember/WaterGun over and over again
>geodude
>rollout tm just north of goldenrod
>defense curl doubles power
>STAB
>erm its easy guys im a 30 year old on a 20 year old game
yeah okay dude
all pokemon games are easy. they're made for children. you're just moronic.
gsc is literally about picking a mon with surf and ice punch who sweeps everything, imagine failing at this simple task
Buy X items from the dept store and set up on the Clefairy
>catch drowzee outside goldenrod
>trade with kid in mart for machop
>break that fat b***h's ankles with lowkick
Honestly this is the only reasonable answer, the only thing you could know beforehand is that it's a Normal-type so you'd want the Machop, resisting Rollout and Attract are major bonuses.
Grabbing this Machop and funneling all exp in the gym and next route to it is the easiest solution, I'm a Dunsparce enjoyer as well.
Play the remakes (far better games), get a female starter and catch 5 suicide ekans. The rest should be obvious
I just one shotted Miltank with Quilava and Fire Wheel because im not moronic
>grinding that high before Whitney
You're the dumb homosexual that only uses his starter
Yes because hes cool homosexual
pick a Geodude, Sandshrew, Cubone or Phanpy
stun spore is your friend
my dick is haaard AAAAAH SEXOOOOO
sauce
>still up
Holy cow
Me shrunken tiny and beneath Miltank's butt
Milk truck just arrived
Bro, your sleep powder?
>stun spore
>supersonic or confuse ray
Hahahaha
I don't recognize that digimon
Not Digimon, Monster Rancher.
Everyone in this thread is dumb.
>Just walk all the way back home and then back to Goldenrod again, then back to the gym from the Pokemon Center over and over and over and over again, it's faster bro trust me
Feel free to grind on lvl 12 nidoran, because that's the highest Pokemon you'll find before route 38.
I NEED A YOUTUBER ROMHACK TO SAVE ME
>decently tanky
>glare
>defense curl
>rage
>headbutt
This guy will take you to the midgame pretty easily.
sure if you both know where to get it and feel like grinding for a 1% encounter
TIL he learns Glare that early, what a guy.
>1% encounter rate
Yeah good luck buddy
whats your favorite second gen mon?
mine is Ledian
based Ledian appreciator
it's Misdreavus for me
doubles as favorite mon in general, i just like him, though i love a lot of gen 2's mons.
>I'd bet you money that children now, or maybe 15-20 years ago, weren't so over analytical as to focus on stats and metrics. I suppose the autistic ones were.
i've been reading through a subsection of a forum for touhoumon hacks that talk about meta stuff with shoddybattle and that stuff dates back to 2012, kind of wild seeing this really old side of comp stuff even if i don't care much for it myself
Christian is that you
no, he has good taste though.
have a link to what i was talking about, at least the page for general movesets because i forgot to put it in the other post, may or may not make you smile at a pre or during gen 6 world with gen 3/4 meta stuff
https://thpp.supersanctuary.net/forum/index.php?board=4.0
favourite gen2 mon and favourite mon over all. evolving scizor for first time in gen2 felt like discovering some secret. then it to learn Metal Claw felt so cool because it was pretty much its signature move in gen2.
man i would frick the shit out of scizor

Git Gud OP
If I pissed on a rock type would they die?
fugbros...
Pokemon balancing is the most moronic shit in the world and nobody can argue this with me.
this is due to the miltank's milk already being inside of you & your mon checkem
Makes sense considering that Miltank is just a gender swapped Tauros, the strongest pokemon in gen 1.
My God, imagine a Mega Milk
One of my favorite things about Pokken is how it depicted a Pokemon's speed in an actual fight. It made me consider how other Pokemon's speed stats would translate to an arena setting. It makes complete sense that Fug would not be lightning fast in a fight, even if it can travel vast distances faster than most other Pokemon. Rayquaza is huge. In a close quarters battle, it's literally taking up half the arena and its opponent does not have to work THAT hard to catch up with it.
The fact that people still casually call rayquaza "fug" is hilarious to me.
It just fits, you know?
>Not using any status on the milktank
>Not setting up on the clefairy
>Not using debuffs on the milktank
>Not using the trade machop designed for morons that couldn't do any of the above
You deserve to lose
Whoever decided this was acceptable should be hanged from his left testicle.
I have no idea how 30 year old men still play these games when I was already falling asleep at the wheel from lack of challenge at 10 and its only gotten worse in the last 20 years.
>mature games for mature gamers like myself
A turn based game with no challenge is like a fighting game with no combos. Whats the point of planning out a team and thinking about your next move when you can just mash the A button with your starter and win every time
nostalgia is a hell of a drug
It’s just a chill game. It’s like how brown men play Minecraft. Some people just need a distraction.
I just turned 30 and I'm running a play through of Crystal Legacy right now. It's just comfy man plus I make the game challenging by nuzlocking
I agree with you anon. I have more nostalgia for the OG gen 1 and 2 games than really anything else but these games are clearly for young children not grown ass 30+ year old men. I dislike most of the designs anyways especially with some like that ice cream cone.
I died a lot here. Self healing no good
Crystal Legacy is based.
just play Polished Crystal at that point
You can, catch geodude that is one of the best mons to beat Gold/silver, headbut a heracross from trees or trade Machop on department store.
i can't in good faith raise a geodude or machop knowing i can never evolve it
kills it for me, i just can't do it. i need to be able to raise it to completion. no evolution blueballs for me
i would rather spam sand attacks and leers with throwaway pokemon. let them get killed, and then just finish the miltank with my starter when he's crippled
I prefer Qwilfish.
On gen 2? But you don't have intimidade.
If he wasn't so fricking weak to flying, I'd love him
As a rule of thumb, I never long term utilize anything with double weaknesses
Fair enough.
Currently playing HeartGold
Play the superior modded vanilla version instead. Just trust me on this.
No.
Your loss.
why is it better?
An entire generation got traumatized by a cow.
god i love subakitsu's miltanks
What other trainers/gym leaders were odd difficulty spikes in the earlier pokemon games? I remember a rocket grunt had a Raticate in mt moon that would frick you over pretty bad in R/B
Lenora in B/W could frick you up with Retaliate revenge kills
Is there a romhack for if I want to play Black 2/White 2 with all Gen 1-5 pokemon available and no custom difficulty changes? Asking for a friend.
blazeblack/voltwhite
There aren't a whole lot of DS hacks.
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4575/
This is for BW1 but it's the closest thing to what you want.
I guess you can try using a randomizer but not changing starters and messing with the settings to make spawns appropriate based on the location.
Thank you both for the answers. I will check both out.
Maybe don't use a pokemon 4x weak to rock
Radical Red was fun. What's another ROMhack with a similar difficulty and no new gen handholding bullshit?
Unbound is great if you skip all the cutscenes
Pokemon Reborn and Rejuvenation
There are so many solutions to this moronic b***h and her cow that you must be moronic.
In gen 2 at least, Bugsy's TM is Fury Cutter:
>Fury Cutter starts with a base power of 10. Every time it is used successively, its power will double, up to a maximum of 160 (which is five consecutive turns).
All of the starters second evos can learn it.
X Accs can be bought from the Goldenrod Dept. Store.
You can plow through Whitney.
First evos? Whatever. Second stage.
ROLL ME OUT
(roll me out inside)
CAN'T SWITCH OUT
(make me take a dive)
>when the level 4 Sentret is next in line after your lead gets taken out
>Use Ditto (Which you can capture right before Whitney
>Name it Optimus
>Transform
>And Roll Out
Just karate chop it
I'm convinced I just played Pokemon wrong my entire life.
Did you manager to beat the game like this?
Yeah, managed to beat each one up until Pokemon X and Y, that's about when I dropped the series. I didn't play any Pokemon games after that.
Now that I think about it, I really haven't played a Pokemon game in a LONG TIME, I still like pokemon just got sick of the games. I was gonna play Arceus but it looked so bad, and same for Sword and Shield. I also just don't care for the Nintendo Switch.
It's indeed Very bad. Pokémon died after Sun and moon.
Those "people" are adults who are overly analytical about a game where the protagonists are 10 years old.
that's the best way
I mean, sure, XY and later games are too fu@#$ easy, like impossible not to beat, but beating things like gen II-IV Red isn't easy task, unless your grind like Crazy for impossible high level.
>too fu@#$ easy
Did i touch a nerve? Sorry.
frick off back where you belong reddithomosexual
Well, I do actually grind like crazy/a lot as well until I could beat the gym leader.
I'd bet you money that children now, or maybe 15-20 years ago, weren't so over analytical as to focus on stats and metrics. I suppose the autistic ones were.
Noticing that you have stats in an RPG and that they affects things is not over analytical.
If you aren't playing autism romhacks and haveno interest in multiplayer then all that RPG nerd shit is completely optional. You really shouldn't be proud of not being able to understand an RPG made for illiterate children though
No Anon that's exactly how you should play for the singleplayer experience which is ofc how the game is made and should be
Anyone mixmaxxing outside of comp battles (which is autistic enough)to beat a literal braindead childrens game is a turbo sperg
Hell, on the flipside of the autism spectrum we get Nuzlocke which at least tries to make the game more fun with some challenge
You can beat any pokemon game mashing A with any Pokemon and pretty much any tactic
>franchise made for 5 year olds
>complete it playing like a 5 year old
what do you mean you're playing it wrong, it was made to accommodate children. you can beat every game with just your starter spamming flamethrower.
what was the fricking point of this post??
Remember what this hot hag said. True chad trainers use their favourite Pokemon.
my favorites are my favorites because they're strong
This, she would have had a better point if she was the champion and had a memorably tough fight.
But when she goes down like all the others her words ring false.
My favorites are my favorites because they are either turtles or monsters. Or monster turtles
Competitive play does far more to endear me to individual Pokemon than anything in the actual games.
Half of my favorite Pokemon literally only have use as suicide lead hazard setters or pivot tanks.
I hate liking Bug types.
My earliest teams in blue version consisted of 3 electric types(raichu, jolteon, and zapdos) just because I liked them all
90% chance you are dead.
Sleep powder ya doofus
Pokemon needs a reboot. Not a remake or a rehash, but a new world and story for the original 151 pokemon.
Pokémon need good devs. That can make a good 2020's game with no bugs.
Has anyone played Legacy Crystal here?
yeeee im on victory road
Bro?? Your heracross??
What was the hardest fight in S/V?
Arven almost got me
I'm pretty sure the only time any of my pokemon ever fainted was when my Fug fainted to a fricking Greedent.
I had a crush on her sprite.
I never noticed that she was wearing a baseball uniform until like a few months ago. I wonder what the idea was with that.
>hurff whitney is hard!!!
Lv.30 on whitney! lol, thats some unnecessary griding.
>bulk up twice
>immune to stomp and takes 0 damage from rollout
>drain punch
maybe go back to hello kitty island adventure if whitney is too tough for you

the official pokemon tierlist for the only gen that matters
This must be your furgay tier listing, because it's not competitivegay tier listing.
>competitive gen 1 pokemon
Only played gen 1 2 and 3 when i was like 10. Competitive pokemon is of zero interest to me. This is the official "well designed monsters- tierlist"
As I said, your furgay tier list.
calling it "furgay" is a bit redundant since its pokemon, mouthbreather
Ghost/Water for me

I remember my stupid ass being so confused because I thought Rollout was a Ground type move. Nope Rock.

The worst is fricking STOMP then rollout
