Is that why he started working on a different MMO immediately afterwards?
Maybe he quit because he couldn't convince the team to make the shitty WoW knockoff he's been dreaming about, he did say it was due to a difference of opinion.
Or perhaps he just realizes the LoL IP kinda sucks and isn't likely to make an interesting MMO. Riot hasn't had the string of hits the peak Blizzard had, only LoL and Valorant and the rest are also rans
>EverQuest combat in motherfricking 2025+
HAHAHAHAHA
No.
Strongly doubt Riot can make a good game, as after years of having shitton of resources they continue to make the most mediocre shit known to man, just like post 2004 Blizzard, so they won't save shit.
But it will be pretty popular, and far more than AoC for sure, specially in the short run. Too soon to say if the game will stay for long, though.
The node system is very interesting, but we'll have to wait and see if it can deliver on its promises and hold a core audience.
This one has a lot of potential due to league already being recognizable, just like how there was the warcraft games before WoW. Unfortunately we haven't even seen a peep of the game. Not even concept arts except for the interactive map which was made for League. They HAVE to nail the faction war system and the PvP tribalism effect. They HAVE to nail the racial/species system being sufficiently different but still part of the same world. Also the class system is definitely something they have to get right on the first day.
We didn't see anything yet and we have no idea when we'll see anything at all. The biggest thing currently going for them is that they have a ridiculous amount of money and no deadlines, which is a good sign at the very least.
There was huge potential for the like 10 years ago, or shit, more like 12-13. They put a lot of love into their universe at first then they got rid of the weekly lore newspaper and eventually stopped caring about the lore for the characters as well but there was definitely good bones once.
will 100% be absolute shit that will hemorrhage whatever players it gets from morons like mom killer bald streaming it, it will die faster then diablo 4. i have zero clue how you can be such Black person cattle you can look at ashes and think it even has a chance of being even remotely decent.
has a high chance of being shit, but will most likely just be mediocre which is probably all it needs to be to compete in the current mmo environment. if theres any upcoming mmo that has a chance of getting a decent sized player base and keeping it, its the riot mmo.
Scam e-celeb oriented mmo

There will always be an "elite". The question is which you have in power—either patriots doing good for their people or subversive traitors causing chaos for their own benefit.
>The question is which you have in power—either patriots doing good for their people or subversive traitors causing chaos for their own benefit.
It's 2023, the elite will always be whichever top streamers are playing the game because they have the resources of hundreds if not thousands of followers feeding them
Well, those followers are the reason they exist. The streamers would disappear instantly if those people stopped "feeding them". Plus it's a video game too, so you'll naturally get trolls, those who exploit bugs and broken or unbalanced mechanics along with the rest.
>It's 2023, the elite will always be whichever top streamers are playing the game because they have the resources of hundreds if not thousands of followers feeding them
Nah, someone like Asmongold will get his shit pushed in if there's a hardcore guild that decides to go up against him. He can get all his viewers to do give him everything and do everything for him, but a guild of coordinated hardcore players will just demolish them in any kind of place that allows PvP/ganking/griefing to happen.
>either patriots doing good for their people or subversive traitors causing chaos for their own benefit.
None of these have ever existed in the entire history of humanity, you massive moron.
Oligarchs have ALWAYS been, are, and forever will be greedy hoarders who defend stagnation over anything else, so they can't be patriotic unless you consider maintaining a country's shitty statu quo forever as such, and they are always the literal opposite of chaotic.

You are correct. It's an MMO, plus it's made by an inexperienced team, so it's going to take longer than AAA single player games. But fearmongering after 5 years is weird. Pretty sure every single MMO has taken a minimum of 5 years.

Surely this unproven indie studio who have never collectively released a finished product will knock it out of the park with their first ever release, an overly ambitious with unrealistic scope, mmorpg.
>an overly ambitious with unrealistic scope, mmorpg.
There's nothing overly ambitious or unrealistic about it. They are literally just copying and combining things and mechanics that some older MMOs had ages ago.
All they have to do is make a tab target wow clone that isn't slow and clunky and isn't gay while not taking itself too seriously on the aesthetic either. It is THAT easy. Do not tell me it is too much work to make an engine that is fun to play.

The "action combat" meme is for MMOs desperately pretending they're not MMOs. Action combat basically never works as well as old tab targeting systems because of latency and server issues. And why even bother with an "MMO" that is so ashamed of its own genre that it intentionally cripples itself?

>Why do they all play the same?
Because they're all mindless mtx wienerroaches who expect the same digital storefront "game" every time or they won't buy it
Utter capitalistic society.
They see greed as a virtue, and the most important one, so the "games" they make and play will always be disguised gambling.
I am cautiously optimistic for both of these games.

>Filled with feature creep which is itself massive red flag
It literally has no feature creep. The original idea for the game was very ambitious, but that original idea hasn't changed or expanded at all. It's the exact same shit they originally pitched. A lot of its other problems can be put down to a lot of the art, assets and music still being placeholders.
They didn't. They have a brick and mortal studio and everything. Even if the game development is taking too long, they're still clearly spending money on it.
>okay but im not falling for "saves mmos" when i cannot play it yet, a game cant be the best in its genre when nobody can play it.
They have already had a couple of alpha play tests with a couple of thousand players. The alpha 2 is going to start in 2024.
Here's a video of Asmongold playing it 2 years ago, for example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Jbe4x5GyY
They have a brick and mortar studio, despite their very ambitious vision, they haven't suffered from any scope creep and have put tangible progress towards development. The CEO says the game is fully funded and isn't begging for more money for development either. It's just taking really long in development.

>streamer mmo where they will, by design, literally control the server and you'll have to play on the same server as them because that's where all the player population will be >permanent mounts will primarily only be given to guild leaders, aka streamers
What could possibly go wrong
The node system would effectively mean that the streamer would only be able to control a single city. So, it would be less that the streamer is the lord of the server and more like the streamer is one of the most powerful mayors, but you're under no obligation to live in his or her town.
It's funny how Dofus did everything right but no one noticed because they're French.

dofus bros why does Ganker continue to ignore our game just because it was made by frogs
>Isn't this MMO 100% balanced and catered to streamers?
It's not. That's just what morons claim because it's going to have a city building system where someone can become a mayor of a region/zone. Streamers are gonna get their asses handed to them in the open world PvP.
So streamers will have a hoard of people following them around, funneling all gear to the streamers, the streamers will get mounts/gear and such only the "leaders" can have making them objectivity better than every other player. But you still think some random guy is going to kill him and his 1000 followers protecting him?
>But you still think some random guy is going to kill him and his 1000 followers protecting him?
No, you moron. There will be guilds made specifically to frick with streamers. This happens in every single MMO where you can PvP.
You are moronic if you think that DOESN'T happen. Especially in a game like AoC where there will be territorial control, open world PvP for the caravans, open word PvP for the world bosses, open world PvP for a lot of dungeons, and so on. This game is fricking ripe for griefing, even more so than Archeage was.

>I bet watching the aftermath on YouTube of big streamers killing each other and their towns with their simp armees is probably going to be more entertaining than participating.
This won't even happen. Because the big streamers won't play on each other servers and just pick empty servers they can dominate.
This game will only be good if the best gear is not ultra rare and isn't randomized slop.
If acquiring gear is the main focus of the game and the best stuff is rare, it will be boring shit. Just play bdo if you want that
I'm getting quite the crowfall vibes from this game and its fans. The concept and what not looks cool, but do you really think that people will come back to the genre, or try out this game in particular and stick around for long? Usually people get invested into one gaas title and that's about it. And slaving away for streamers and internet mayors or guilds in aoc doesn't seem to be a fun pastime activity for most.
>but do you really think that people will come back to the genre
New World showed that there's a huge market out there for these types of games. >or try out this game in particular and stick around for long?
As long as it's good, then people will stick around. >And slaving away for streamers and internet mayors or guilds in aoc doesn't seem to be a fun pastime activity for most.
Tell that to basically every PvP-focused MMO throughout time.
>New World showed that there's a huge market out there for these types of games.
Your argument doesn't work here. New World is an amazon game, and was marketed so massively that all the normalgays played it because it was THE NEXT BEST THING, just like with Lost Ark or Diablo 4 or BG3. It's not that there is a huge market for these games, it's just the more money you spend on marketing, the more people who have literally never played video games before will come.
Defending them like a rabid dog by correcting people who are actively spreading misinformation about them?

What misinformation is being spread you moronic redditor? Does the game look like it's going to be release within the next 5 years? Does it not sell 400$ founder packages while claiming to be "fully funded and ready to go"? Or that it reuses concepts from korean MMOs while branding itself as "different than everything else"?
You can't be more obvious you fricking shill. >I-I didn't buy a founder's pack, I'm just cautiously optimistic
Yeah, like anyone is going to believe that, when you're sitting in this thread shilling it like mad.
All of that is true, but the idea that it's a scam or that it has absolutely no new ideas and is the exact same as hundreds of Korean shovelware titles is a lie.
Selling people alpha keys for $400, but that's what they charged on their kickstarter and they're a business at the end of the day, not a charity. They don't need funding as an excuse to sell people stuff. They're literally for-profit.
>the idea that it's a scam or that it has absolutely no new ideas and is the exact same as hundreds of Korean shovelware titles is a lie.
Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Star Citizen?
Chris Roberts has made the game too big and his mouth continues to write checks his ass can't cash. His refusal to compromise on his vision and his constant expansion of that vision means that his game will likely never be finished no matter how much money and progress is put towards it and the people giving him money are just funding a pipe dream that might have evolved into a full on scam at this point.
You might think that this is an ironic opinion to have since I just defended Ashes of Creation, but Ashes is simply ambitious. There's nothing wrong with being ambitious. The problem with Star Citizen is that it constantly increases its scope while refusing to take compromises. This isn't something Ashes is doing.

I feel that Star Citizen has much better prospects than Ashes of Creation. Also maybe you're just repeating what others claim about "scope creep", but that was never an issue unless you were there in 2012/2013 and were unhappy where it was funded by 2015/2016 or so. The scope was established from 2012-2016 or so and wasn't officially "set" at least until they got to the end of the specific stretch goals. Basically, when the Kickstarter did so well, Roberts asked the community "do I make a smaller game more like Wing Commander + Freelancer 2.0 , or do you want to really push the envelope?" and the community voted with their wallets bigtime for the latter. In the early years anyone who wanted refunds because they wanted a smaller game done faster or whatever were granted them; this was changed after a jealous douche tried to organize a mass chargeback attempt.
The game's scope is simply huge and is attempting to do something that hasn't been done before in gaming, on both technical and gameplay levels. Its some hard shit and there's definitely a chance of failure, but people have been claiming that they'd never get whatever feature done or things would collapse or whatever else, but the game continues on and more and more players keep signing up because it reaches their "okay, I'm in" point; all you need is a $45 account key, and there's at least 1 "free fly" per month or so where you don't even need that.
>Montization
Ashes had some good ideas but has messed up the monetization with a heavy factor on exclusivity that makes me not want to support it at all . I don't judge a buggy alpha build as that is something that can always change, but if you're constantly leaning on exclusivity and FOMO that is a problem. SC has stuff for sale, but very little of it - including cosmetics - is exclusive. AoC goes the other way and that is very concerning.
>Tell that to basically every PvP-focused MMO throughout time.

Crowfall had great potential, its a pity it got fricked up so badly. I say this as someone who played Shadowbane back in the day and with Crowfall they finally had the tech to make it work, a good plan for making PVP not a circle-strafing suckfest (characters had physical presence so tanks could literally form a shield wall in stance , movement in and out of range was to be impossible eating up stamina costs etc) or perpetually punishing (the "campaign worlds" setup so it wasn;t an issue of one guild of no-lifers getting to the resources first and being able to camp it long enough to get kitted out and stomp people for eternity. Each campaign world had different rules and went on for a particular amount of time ) and overall had things right for the most part on a technical level.
Then they fricked it up by A) not having hardly any PvE content. The PVP was the focal point on most campaigns but they really needed more PVE especially early on as well as PvPvE setups like the whole old DAoC "two factions race clearing the dungeon to get bonuses and the chance to fight the big boss" sort of thing. Hell, they could have added "extraction"events too as well as the hold and conquest of resource nodes B) not offering a perpetual free player mode. If you want to lean on PVP that hard, you need a large player base . You don't do that with a $30 min price. I am VERY glad they didnt go a traditional F2P setup with shitfrick expensive cosmetics and battle pass and all the rest, but they did need to get people in the door. Perpetually allowing free players to have access to a wide assortment of content wouuld have been the way to go, where B2P unlocks other stuff on your account and some of the roles or abilities (ie running or being an officer of a guild, having other people settle in your eternal kingdom among others) , and then the optional subscription for the best boosts and the like.
So much potential wasted, I hope they'll get it going again
Their biggest issue was doing ZERO marketing. They just released the game and nobody even knew it existed.
I was baffled when I heard the game came out, then I looked it up and it was totally dead.
That was definitely part of it. Many of us yelled about it big time that they couldn't launch at current, but yeah zero marketing with a buy-to-play $30 PVP focused MMO isn't going to work.
....I was also quite annoyed that despite every other class getting an overhaul since the split and revamp of classes and races independently, they still let the only "duelist" (ie the swashbuckler type with a sword in one hand and pistol in the other) as the fricking GUINEA PIG PEOPLE RACE EXCLUSIVE, because it had a "dig in the ground and pop up like a groundhog" ability that was exclusive to that race at the time and instead of properly overhauling it, they just left it as the only class exclusive to just one race. Shit.
In hindsight, Crowfall was doomed as soon as they decided to use Unity. You can't have a fricking MMO with a focus on "large scale siege warfare" and territorial control, and then only have 100 people allowed in a zone.
They also made some really weird ass decisions and tried to reinvent the wheel. The campaign thing sounded good on paper, but ended up being absolutely atrocious, especially with the whole import/export garbage. They had the opportunity to just make a HD version of Shadowbane, but instead they tried so many other weird ass things.
The problem with this is the monetization. Back during Kickstarter I saw they had some pretty significant content packages but figured okay, its a KS thing, they have lifetime subs and special loot nd whatnot but if it was all limited to crowdfunding for the most part, then tht would be fine. They proceeded to add new, $100+ exclusive cosmetics to be pre-ordered that changed by fricking season, with all sorts of FOMO "Even if you paid $500+ during kickstarter you don't get all this! Better make sure to add it before it goes away" and on and on and on. Its worst than most MMOs sadly, in this regard
>but no p2w its just cosmetic
I'm very tired of the brain damage that has convinced people that this is somehow acceptable so long as they aren't literally letting someone buy a +99 sword when everyone in the game can only loot a +95 one or some shit.
AoC is the only mmorpg I've been shilled into pre-purchasing even though most of these startup type studios are obvious scams and there are a few red flags but they are pushing all the right buttons so I can't help it
You can play with your favorite streamer and grind stuff for him so he can rule the server to get all the cool and exclusive stuff!
Maybe if you do it he will say your name on his stream.
>so what is the big draw of this game
Oldschool-ish game with systems from UO + SWG + Archeage + territorial control and city building, but modernized.
The big draw of the game is the node system (basically players get to make and manage their own towns, which are called "nodes" here, which then have interactions with other nodes) and the open world PvP and trading system.
The CEO is le epic gaymerrrrr, he's just like us, he's such a fricking nerd for MMOs I swear xD so therefore he will make an AMAZING GAME, different than every other MMOs out there, there will be NO PAY TO WIN whatsoever, dude even ASMONGOLD loved the game. They just need your $375 in a founder's pack to make this literal dream game come true.
>archetypes >no positioners

>let me guess, the ideal gameplay scenario is people standing around pressing buttons so dps can min-max their damage?
No, the game is designed to be more like Archeage in terms of combat. The CEO was really into that game. You can see that in some of the early siege footage.

Newsletter 100 was in August. Newsletter 101 was 3 days ago. They just skipped September entirely.
Not that it even matters, the last 60-70 news letters have unironically just been "WE ARE MAKING SO MUCH PROGRESS BEHIND THE SCENES, YOU WILL SEE SOON!" and then a bunch of absolutely moronic concept art. It's both extremely comical and extremely sad how mismanaged CU has been. Mark Jacobs has destroyed his legacy.
Oh right I forgot that Camelot Unchained was still a thing.
I'm going to post this and take a look at their website to see if it still looks like a 5min effort site done by someone that spent 10min learning how to create a website.

>Oh right I forgot that Camelot Unchained was still a thing.
It almost isn't. They were about to go under recently, but then got an emergency $15 million funding to keep them afloat. However, that money came with the stipulation that they must now work on something called Final Stand: Ragnarök, which is basically a separate game they were making in secrecy to use as a "tech demo".
>On January 31, 2020, Mark Jacobs made an announcement during a live stream that City State Entertainment was silently developing another game, codenamed Ragnarok: Colossus. It was based on same engine as Camelot Unchained and, according to developers, the work for Ragnarok: Colossus also benefited the development of Camelot Unchained. >Backers reportedly expressed disappointment, as Camelot Unchained had no estimated date for release nor the next beta stage. Some backers requested refunds, which in some cases are still being delayed for over three years without developer communication, leading to speculation that the studio finances were in disarray.
No one even played that "tech demo" despite everyone that bought into CU getting the game for free. It had a 37 player peak.

>what classes are there
Ashes has this "archetype" system where you mix two of the archetypes to make your class.
The archetypes are Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Tank, Ranger, Summoner, Mage and Rogue.
So the answer is either 8 or 64 depending on how you look at it. Your "primary archetype" is going to be your class, while your "secondary archetype" is just a twist on that archetype. For instance, "Paladin" is Primary Tank, Secondary Cleric.
>what do talent trees look like
I don't think they've said yet.
>is everyone a human variant
No. There's humans, dwarves, elves, orcs and these beastmen guys that live underground.
I will be joining /ourguy/ asmongold's guild. The lead dev has already talked to and design the game around what Asmon likes so it's going to be HYYYPED! Big dick energy frfr
Can't wait to see /ourguy/ getting the exclusive mounts and gear only one person on the server can have!
fr bruh, can't wait to fork over my hard-earned ingame currency so he'll say my name on stream, and help carry him through raids where he locks all the gear he needs, shit finna be bussin
They never said that for Camelot Unchained. In fact, they kept begging for more money and having to go out and secure funding a handful of different times.
>that does nothing new for the genre
We don't need anything "new for the genre". We need to go back to oldschool systems, which is what AoC is doing.
is this you first time with mmo development? its always >this mmo will save the genre
then 1 month after release >its shit, dead game
this will be no different sadly, this is especially true when you consider that this is a brand new studio approaching an incredibly difficult genre with very ambitious ideas
>is this you first time with mmo development? its always
No, I have played MMOs for 20 years.
>this mmo will save the genre
It's not going to "save the genre" per se. It's going to be a niche game. Maybe a few hundred thousand players in total. But that's still way more than enough for this type of game.
>this is a brand new studio
That's true, but the CEO is a hardcore MMO nerd himself, and they seemingly have enough employees + enough money to be able to actually make an MMO. Not to mention that they put out monthly videos where you can see that they are making steady progress.
>with very ambitious ideas
The ideas are not really THAT ambitious. They are just taking a bunch of systems from older games, copying them, and putting them all into one package.

yeah and it would still be an extremely valid one, just like now, particularly when we see how WoW was a trendsetter and how many failed MMO projects followed it vs. the ones that are still alive on life support
A current day MMO would need to help revitalize the genre, which AoC wont seem to be able to do based on its development and ideas. At best itll be a dud while the whale-powered alternatives will continue until the heat death of the universe.

Western developers need to get out of the early 2000's.
I remember seeing a "magic showcase" video and it looked like shit.
>Pantheon
That is one I'm keeping an eye on. Its the most old school EverQuest like, but I hope they manage to take the good of that era (ie world design, faction system, in depth quests and lore, varied class mechanics etc) and get rid of the tedium (inability to solo unless you're a kiting class, XP and possibly level loss in death, hell levels, horrid grind and "camp check", massive gating/gearing/faction grind as the only way to get "keyed" for certain zones and much more). I also am just hoping they won't have a bunch of cosmetic exclusive item mall bullshit and instead will go back to the true old school MMO days of >You pay your subscription fee, you get the whole fricking game including all the cosmetics, that you unlock by playing it!
The game is funded, the problem is, exactly where are those fund going?
Remember that battle royale BS they threw out there?
How about that cash shop they started before the game was (if it even is at this point) in beta?
>We need to go back to oldschool systems >developers keep making "oldschool" mmos >they all flop and die because mmos pre wow were fricking dogshit for mentally ill freaks with no friends

>him telling a guild member "drink a bottle of bleach you fricking Black person" from his Archeage days
Fricking BASED. I now have faith in Ashes of Creation.
it's the MMO where the developers were following asmongold and giving him everything, while continually sucking him off with everything they do
they were so fricking desperate they fricking implemented his literal ugly face into the game
>they were so fricking desperate they fricking implemented his literal ugly face into the game
Lmao is this true? I knew they were sucking off Asmon and creating the game around him. But didn't know it was this bad.
>Lmao is this true?
No, the guy is being a dishonest moron. They just showed off that you can use the character creator to make a character that looks like Asmongold. They didn't "put his face into the game".
mmo's are 50% about the game and 50% about the community, if it were based people playing and having fun you will also have fun
can we have no troons servers?
Those classes are loosely based on (lifted from) Archeage specialisations I guess >Fighter = Battlerage >Tank = Defence >Rogue = Shadowplay >Ranger = Archery >Mage = Sorcery >Summoner = Witchcraft/Occultism >Cleric = Vitalism >Bard = Songcraft
Based on that Shadowblade and Sorcerer will be op.
>PvP focused game >adding raids and dungeons
It's already over. You can't do this shit in a PvP focused game, PvPers that don't care about doing that shit will be FORCED to do it for gear and now you have already alienated a bit part of the audience you're seeking.
Just go and play WoW and kill your same 5 bosses for 6 months straight if you love PvE so much.
what % of mmo players play for pvp? do you chuds know? based on internet searches I've seen 10-20% guesstimates

I will never understand PvEgays that want dungeons and raids in every single MMORPG, it's the worst part of the genre.
>Dude just do this same 1 dungeon 100 times over and over again! >dude just kill these 5 same bosses every week for 6 months straight so you can gear up and uhm.... kill the bosses faster!

People don't play MMOs for PvP. You can do that in practically EVERY FRICKING MMO already. People play MMOs for a sense of progression and long-term accruement of accomplishments, achievements and values that they can take months-long breaks from and come back to find their account in the same condition with hopefully more content to enjoy or a better game overall.
Because people are moronic. >worst part of the genre

>They said a lot of the raids, world bosses and dungeons will not be instanced though, so you can actually PvP at them.
This is just so fricking moronic and shows that the devs have no idea what they are doing. This game is pretty much the definition of a kid thinking "OMG WOULDN'T THIS BE COOL TO DO!" but clearly it doesn't work.
And why the frick would you have raids and dungeons and such in a PvP game. Will they actually force you to do shitty raiding to get gear? I know you know about this stuff because you are a dev or shill
>but clearly it doesn't work
Some old MMOs had things like that where it worked fine and was fun.
>Will they actually force you to do shitty raiding to get gear? I know you know about this stuff because you are a dev or shill
I'm neither and I don't know for sure. I would assume that since the game is crafting oriented, you'd do them for materials rather than actual gear.

Yeah dead MMO's with like 10 players
Saw this being talked about in the SMT general. I played Re:Imagine before it got shut down and was bitter all my stuff got wiped. The New Moon developers aren't scared of a cease and desist and their server looks like it has a lot of effort put into it so I'll be playing it.

>kickstarter mmo
they're all, ALL fricking scams
people need to start realizing mmos are fricking expensive and only big projects from established publishers are worth your attention
"indie mmos" are a pipe dream
This game has loads of updates but they never talk about the most basic gameplay : do I need to farm to level up? is there quests? what do I do in the game if there is less than 1k players on my server?
I just find that animations, character models and overall graphics for the rest of the game clashes between each other, it seems like it was made for 3 different games and splashed them all together, not to mention the graphics will be horrible in a few years because of how realistic they are trying to make them
>not to mention the graphics will be horrible in a few years
This is just straight up wrong. Graphics have already peaked, games from almost a decade still look good today
Witcher 3
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Assassin's Creed Unity
Alien Isolation
The Last of Us Remastered
Infamous Second Son
Crysis 2
Crysis 3
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Halo 5
The Order 1886
Uncharted 3
Soma
Yes, kneel. You should be worried about how many players the game will be able to render before turning into a powerpoint presentation, rather than the graphical fidelity over the course of a decade.

Albion has been doing great the past years. That's a full loot PvP sandbox MMO. Next big update in less than a week. More than 300k daily users on no more than two servers.
Zero LGBT bullshit. Solo friendly. No quests. Just do whatever you want. Kill some noobs and take their stuff. Simple as.
Have fun with your next WoW clone that will lose 90% of its playerbase within the first year, I guess.
>Solo friendly.
yea up until about an hour or two in when you have to venture into the pvp zones to start getting higher tier materials, then you just get fricked unless you join a guild.
They added blackzones that you can only enter by yourself so yeah the regular blackzone is meant for guilds to fight each other.
Nobody crafts their own equipment when it's always cheaper to just buy it off a market.
>$36,000 in cosmetics already sold on a monthly basis never to be seen again
This shit deserves the reputation Star Citizen has and people should ease the frick up on Star Citizen cuz you can earn everything in game with ease. Frick Ashes of Creation.
MMOs are dead thanks to Twitchc**t e-celebs like Asmongold, their cult of mouthbreathing drones, and desperate devs trying their hardest to suck them off for a chance of their WoW killer succeeding by being aggressively marketed to undesirables via them.
AoC's combat is what holds it back, most new MMOs coming out are pushing for real action combat while AoC still has primitive conventional MMO combat with a "hybrid action" mode that only changes the way you aim abilities, it doesn't cut it.
Equipment in full loot PvP MMOs is treated like consumables. There is no gear treadmill. You don't grind weeks for a 0.1% drop. You just craft or buy a new set when you die.
While ganking is part of these games, most fights happen consensually.
PvP and taking risks is fun and rewarding. There are enough themepark MMOs if you prefer zero risk gameplay.
If equipment isn't readily available to the masses after every death, it's dead on arrival. Nobody is going to bother with it after losing it once or twice. I don't care for the theme park argument/discussion. Full loot pvp MMOs are hyper niche and even the ones crying for those games won't ever play them.
there's more variables to it
it has a pvp flag system similar to lineage 2 however I don't remember the penalties for PK > Nobody is going to bother after getting ganked a couple of times.

Is that why he started working on a different MMO immediately afterwards?
Maybe he quit because he couldn't convince the team to make the shitty WoW knockoff he's been dreaming about, he did say it was due to a difference of opinion.

The biggest thing currently going for them is that they have a ridiculous amount of money and no deadlines, which is a good sign at the very least.
isnt that game in permanent development hell?
MMO had its glory days. its over.
There was huge potential for the like 10 years ago, or shit, more like 12-13. They put a lot of love into their universe at first then they got rid of the weekly lore newspaper and eventually stopped caring about the lore for the characters as well but there was definitely good bones once.
All they have to do is take League gameplay and expand the PVE elements. It really is that easy.
*by never releasing*
Riot never made a good game so their mmo will be garbage too
will 100% be absolute shit that will hemorrhage whatever players it gets from morons like mom killer bald streaming it, it will die faster then diablo 4. i have zero clue how you can be such Black person cattle you can look at ashes and think it even has a chance of being even remotely decent.
has a high chance of being shit, but will most likely just be mediocre which is probably all it needs to be to compete in the current mmo environment. if theres any upcoming mmo that has a chance of getting a decent sized player base and keeping it, its the riot mmo.
Scam e-celeb oriented mmo
They get all the land, get to own all the cities, get carried trough all content (which is randomly generated aside from a few dungeons) while the rest of us grinds for them via land taxes.
This is my problem with any MMOs with 'player economy'. It's just like the elite in this world which I'm trying to get away from in the first place.
just become the elite then
There will always be an "elite". The question is which you have in power—either patriots doing good for their people or subversive traitors causing chaos for their own benefit.
>The question is which you have in power—either patriots doing good for their people or subversive traitors causing chaos for their own benefit.

It depends. Like your Asmongold example, he could join a guild that has these coordinated hardcore players helping too.
Sounds like kino development
Yeah, because eve is known for being ruled by streamers instead of shitting on them
Eve is not vidya
It by definition is a videogame, quit being a homosexual with no arguments.
>either patriots doing good for their people or subversive traitors causing chaos for their own benefit.
Read a single decent book in your life before continuing to write completely nonsensical bullshit in the internet that only shows everyone how foolish you are.
As long as it's taken I've just stopped paying attention mostly but it being an answer to archeage being a colossal frickup resonated with me. Hope it's not a scam but I guess it'll be know eventually. I think this could be an issue unless they quarantine them to their own server somehow.
equating those two games on the same level reveals yourself to be an utter window licking moron.
>Generic artstyle
>No world lore aesthetic or story
>Music is unlicensed piano and violin sales stock music for advertisements
>Filled with feature creep which is itself massive red flag
>Basically only got on the radar because Asmongold talked about it
No idea how people got so excited for this soulless scam
You forgot the most important point:
>is vaporware
You don't know what vaporware means. People have played the game. They have had a couple of alpha tests where thousands of people were let in to play.
People have also played (and are playing) Star Citizen
Star Citizen is not vaporware either. It's just a scam.
artstyle
>>No world lore aesthetic or story
i thought it was only asmongroid who had this shitty opinion, are his fans actually agreeing with him on this
hasn't this been in development for a decade
shit ain't coming out
Announced in December 2016. Kickstarter in June 2017. It has only been like 5 years of full production.
That's longer than almost every AAA release cycle aside from complete disasters like Overwatch and Halo Infinite, off to a bad start already
>That's longer than almost every AAA release cycle
No, it's not. What the frick are you talking about?
Yes it is, Lies of P was in dev for 3 years, Elden Ring was just under 5, FFXIV pushes out new expansions every 2 years. People hassle Star Citizen for never ending dev cycle but at least you've been able to play their game as a member of the public/non-backer for years now
Baldur's Gate 3 - 6 years
Starfield - 7 years
Hogwarts Legacy - 5 years
Zelda: TotK - 6 years
RE4 Remake - 5 years
Diablo 4 - 6 years
You cherry picking games to fit your narrative does not change reality.
It's a little much to put Ashes of Creation in the same category as massive budget AAA blockbusters
You are correct. It's an MMO, plus it's made by an inexperienced team, so it's going to take longer than AAA single player games. But fearmongering after 5 years is weird. Pretty sure every single MMO has taken a minimum of 5 years.
You sound pretty invested in defending the development team, what level of backer are you for the project? kek
I haven't given them anything. I backed Camelot Unchained in early 2013 and learned my lesson to stay away from Kickstarters. That shit is 10 years deep and not even in a steady alpha state.
That's pretty hopeless, WoW was 2001 start dev, 2005 release with a team that had never worked on MMOs before
New games take longer to produce. Different requirements
Old Blizzard were fricking magicians and wizards though. They pulled off so much shit with so many of their games that was unbelievable.
I remember when I first heard that they were going to turn WC3 into an MMO from a friend, and I was convinced that someone had pranked him.
Yeah I guess it's like comparing a competent competitive swimmer to Michael Phelps, probably not fair
04
>2001
wew lad, guess I'm off by two years. 5 years seems like the magic number for a dev cycle
F for Malbourn
>Lies of P
>AAA
You've got to be fricking shitting me anon
Just because it didn't have 1000 people working on it like the average Ubislop doesn't mean it isn't AAA
AA and AAA are budget categories anon, not a "number of developers" comparison.
Yeah, that never happened before.
>lineage, DAOC, runescape, everquest, ragnarok online, eve online, maplestory, mabinogi
>comparing games released over 20 years ago which requires WAAAAY less manpower and money to a modern game MMO game
All they have to do is make a tab target wow clone that isn't slow and clunky and isn't gay while not taking itself too seriously on the aesthetic either. It is THAT easy. Do not tell me it is too much work to make an engine that is fun to play.
>tab target
>isn't slow and clunky
LOL
Tab target is mmo, stop trying to reinvent the wheel
>>>HE THINKS ALL MMOS USE TAB TARGET
OH NO NO NO AH HA HA HA HA
All the ones that ever mattered besides runescape, kys uniquegay
BDO and lost ark are both really popular and don't use tab target.
Popular with bugs doesn't count
>autist still talking
>Tab target is mmo
Calling other people autists? Really?
Reality check homie
>BDO
>Just lifeskilling and musou tier solo farming punching bag mobs. Only just recently added actually bosses for you to challenge
>Lost Ark
I>nstanced based, channel hopping, isometric ARPG with P2W progression and group content is just 8 man raids
lol
>Just lifeskilling and musou tier solo farming punching bag mobs. Only just recently added actually bosses for you to challenge
Yeah what the frick do you want in an MMO?
>dude I want to kill the same 5 bosses every single week for 6 months straight!
I really don't get people that complain about grinding in a fricking MMO
>Yeah what the frick do you want in an MMO?
not him but grief the same person until they give up and move onto the next person
You can do that in BDO tho, if anything it's a perfect game to grief people in
Where's the group content then you fricking moron? Where's the class fantasy? BDO is just solo play or lagging shit PvP with a P2W progression system. I have no problem with grinding, but doing it by myself? Why even bother pretending that the game is an MMO at that point?
Not to mention the game has mobile game UI
>Where's the group content then you fricking moron?
Nodewars and massive PvP? You know that focus of the game?
Or any of the top grind spots that's nearly all group spots?
>Where's the class fantasy?
The....classes?
Here we have a case of someone who has never played a good MMO. His only frame of reference is shit MMOs so his brain cannot process even the concept of a good MMO.
>BDO and lost ark are both really popular
Not him but BDO is pretty popular, just because an MMO isn't FFXIV or WoW doesn't make it dead.
>m-my mmo matters
lmao gotta fill that ego somehow
WoW uses tab target and it's literally the most responsive MMO, despite having been made 20 years ago.
The "action combat" meme is for MMOs desperately pretending they're not MMOs. Action combat basically never works as well as old tab targeting systems because of latency and server issues. And why even bother with an "MMO" that is so ashamed of its own genre that it intentionally cripples itself?
Wasn't talking about action combat you loser. Keep lashing out though.
All MMOs operate on ether traditional tab target or some greater or lesser attempt at the "action combat" meme.

>Why do they all play the same?
Because they're all mindless mtx wienerroaches who expect the same digital storefront "game" every time or they won't buy it
In a way, yes. They're all pay2win trash where you grind all day as a dollface wizard ninja who murders 50 enemies at once.
>grind all day as a dollface wizard ninja who murders 50 enemies at once.
and thats a good thing
If you're a bugman, maybe.
Koreans objectively have the highest average IQ in the world
Anyone who doesn't enjoy it just got filtered and that's a good thing
>Korean swiping whale bait MMOs are too intellectual for you to understand
LOL
Utter capitalistic society.
They see greed as a virtue, and the most important one, so the "games" they make and play will always be disguised gambling.
have a nice day commie
moron commie
name an MMO that wasn't capitalist
I am cautiously optimistic for both of these games.
>Filled with feature creep which is itself massive red flag
It literally has no feature creep. The original idea for the game was very ambitious, but that original idea hasn't changed or expanded at all. It's the exact same shit they originally pitched. A lot of its other problems can be put down to a lot of the art, assets and music still being placeholders.
ngmi. looks jank as frick
having too much fun with classic 3.0 archeage
ashes is going to fail, gameplay looks bland af and every time they host a stream its 40 fricking mins on mounts and skins you can buy.
I could play if it would come WITHOUT any kernel-level malware anti-cheat but I guess chances are very low.
>kickstarter game
>it isnt out
yeah who would have known they took the money and ran
They didn't. They have a brick and mortal studio and everything. Even if the game development is taking too long, they're still clearly spending money on it.
okay but im not falling for "saves mmos" when i cannot play it yet, a game cant be the best in its genre when nobody can play it.
on a related note any actually good and SOCIAL mmos? ones that dont paywall guild features and arent subscriptions,
see above
Like I said, I'm cautiously optimistic about it.
And even if it winds up being shit that took too long coming out, it still clearly isn't a scam at this point.
>im not falling for "saves mmos"
Wait did you really take OP's shitpost seriously?
>okay but im not falling for "saves mmos" when i cannot play it yet, a game cant be the best in its genre when nobody can play it.
They have already had a couple of alpha play tests with a couple of thousand players. The alpha 2 is going to start in 2024.
Here's a video of Asmongold playing it 2 years ago, for example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6Jbe4x5GyY
Pso2ngs is a very social mmo you can f2p easily. The issue is that it's Pso2ngs...
>yeah who would have known they took the money and ran
But they are literally showing solid and steady progress every month.
Please tell me they will have Australian servers
nobody actually believes this is not a star citizen-like scam and it will actually come out, right?
...right?
moron
Is that why they pay massive money to twitch ecelebs to shill their game and sell people 400$ founder packs?
you can literally see their progress moron.
>progress
>one alpha test per year
Just say you're into findom, fricking lmao
Get a fricking grip
They're making progress even if the progress is kind of slow at this point.
Are you really happy with paying 75$ at the very minimum with a one alpha per year model, looking to be released in 5-10 years at the earliest, for another quite generic MMO no different than what Koreans are releasing every single year??
Seriously, get a hold on your fricking life.
1) I haven't given a dime to Ashes of Creation
2) The fact that they're going to definitively NOT be a generic MMO or KTrash is the whole appeal. They're basically selling themselves on how ambitious and different their game is.
>definitively NOT be a generic MMO or KTrash
Take look at the combat gameplay, the economy systems straight from Black Desert, etc.
Seriously, how braindead does one have to be to go "t-this time it's DEFINITELY going to be different!!!" for the 100th MMO promise in a row.
Well, for one, unlike KTrash Ashes of Creation isn't going to be pay2win. What's more, no KTrash game that I'm aware of has any system like the Node system.
>Well, for one, unlike KTrash Ashes of Creation isn't going to be pay2win
Holy hell man, again with what I said in
>"t-this time it's DEFINITELY going to be different!!!" for the 100th MMO promise in a row
How many times do MMOdevs have to shit on your carpet before you realise that maybe letting them in isn't that great of an idea?
Letting them in how? I haven't given them any money. Do you mean I'm "letting them in" by not actively shitting on them?
You're actively defending them like a rabid dog and shilling for them instead, anon-kun.
Defending them like a rabid dog by correcting people who are actively spreading misinformation about them?
I'm cautiously optimistic about their project, which I guess is the highest praise I can give any modern MMO. I find it insulting that an ambitious MMO with a vision, but slow progress is being slandered while people promote pay2win Korean trash. Even if Ashes turns out to be bad, it will still have been higher effort and had more passion behind it than any of the diarrhea being spewed out of South Korea's asscrack.
>Ashes of Creation isn't going to be pay2win
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Okay, name some pay2win mechanics Ashes of Creation has introduced.
Name 3 examples of pay2win that you think is going to be in Ashes of Creation.
Archeage 2 will release before AoC and steal its thunder.
If only...
The game will be so dated once it releases.
The whole point of the game is to take a game that utilizes oldschool mechanics and systems, and then bringing them into a modern MMO.
Also, that guy is clueless it's not gonna take another 10 years from now before it releases.
Not the guy you are arguing with, but since I was curious, I went and looked at their updates for the past year.

This is pretty solid progress overall for just 1 year.
Most of the time and effort in an MMO goes to adding content, but you're saying that they haven't even finished core gameplay functions that the content would depend on? Not a good look if you ask me.
>Not a good look if you ask me
Luckily no one is asking you. They have only been in full development mode with full staff for ~4 years.
>b-b-ut they only REALLY started recently!
Sounds like the same kind of cope as Camelot Unchained.
How is it anything comparable to Camelot Unchained? CSE started working on CU literally 11 years ago, and they have constantly been begging for money and hardly ever shown any real improvement or progress.
Meanwhile AoC started 4-5 years ago, is already fully funded and don't need more money, and they are showing constant progress.
>4-5 years ago
Pretty sure its 6-7 years
>engine changes
Yup it's already dead
>Is that why they pay massive money to twitch ecelebs
>Is that why they pay massive money to twitch ecelebs to shill their game?
Do you have proof of this?
The CEO has said multiple times that the game is already fully funded and they don't need any more money, and that it will come out no matter what.
They have a brick and mortar studio, despite their very ambitious vision, they haven't suffered from any scope creep and have put tangible progress towards development. The CEO says the game is fully funded and isn't begging for more money for development either. It's just taking really long in development.
>vaporware
Behold, the true saviour of MMOs. Our boy Mark just needs a bit more time....
I kickstarted this POS. It's probably gonna need 5+ years.
Same. I've long since written that money off as scammed.
daoc sequel?
i can almost feel it... it's there... just a few more years...
>streamer mmo where they will, by design, literally control the server and you'll have to play on the same server as them because that's where all the player population will be
>permanent mounts will primarily only be given to guild leaders, aka streamers
What could possibly go wrong
If the game is so unpopular that literally only the streamer server is populated, then it has bigger problems than the streamers.
Oh don't worry, I'm sure each server will have it's dedicated streamer to take it over.
The node system would effectively mean that the streamer would only be able to control a single city. So, it would be less that the streamer is the lord of the server and more like the streamer is one of the most powerful mayors, but you're under no obligation to live in his or her town.
Sounds like modem WoW.
How did the French manage to make the best MMORPG on the market?
dofus bros why does Ganker continue to ignore our game just because it was made by frogs
Because the gameplay sucks
can you explain why the gameplay sucks?
no >hurr durr combat is basically chess
Again
>Not liking turn based kino
Srams are so cheat it's unfair lmfao
>Check videos
>It's just an inferior Black Desert
LMAO
Nothing about the game is Black Desert. If anything, it's like Everquest-style combined with UO + SWG + Archeage systems + territorial control.
if I can't make a sexy lady I'm not playing it.
Isn't this MMO 100% balanced and catered to streamers?
Why would a regular peasant want to play this?
This happens in every single MMO where you can PvP.
you're moronic if you think people make guilds to specifically frick with streamers
You are moronic if you think that DOESN'T happen. Especially in a game like AoC where there will be territorial control, open world PvP for the caravans, open word PvP for the world bosses, open world PvP for a lot of dungeons, and so on. This game is fricking ripe for griefing, even more so than Archeage was.
t. person who has been in several guilds like that across several MMOs.
It has never fricking happened, how much are they fricking paying you to make up fantasy scenarios like this?
>heh it doesn't matter that Streamers will dominate every aspect of the game and get stuff that is objectively better than everything you can use because someone will make a 5-man guild that will fight his 1000man guild!
>It has never fricking happened
I was in guilds like that in Age of Conan, Darkfall, Mortal Online, Archeage, Albion Online, etc.
You are so clueless.
>I was in dedicated anti-streamer guilds before big streamers were a thing!
I was speaking about griefing guilds in general, you mongoloid.
nta but I'm pretty sure he's talking about griefer guilds and not specifically anti-streamer guilds. griefing in these types of games is a lot of fun
I bet watching the aftermath on YouTube of big streamers killing each other and their towns with their simp armees is probably going to be more entertaining than participating.
>I bet watching the aftermath on YouTube of big streamers killing each other and their towns with their simp armees is probably going to be more entertaining than participating.
This won't even happen. Because the big streamers won't play on each other servers and just pick empty servers they can dominate.
Could the paid shills in here be more obvious?
Paid by who, exactly?
Okay, I admit I fell for the bait. I thought I'm discussing with a paid shill, but I just realised you've been baiting all along. There is no way a professional shill would say something like that. You're either absolutely terrible at your job, completely mentally gone or just baiting hard.
Okay, name some scope creep Ashes of Creation has done.
>Tell that to basically every PvP-focused MMO throughout time.
every pvp focused mmo is dead
new world literally had to rework the game from the ground up in a gigantic rush because nobody likes or cares about pvp except for severely autistic people
>every pvp focused mmo is dead
BDO
p2w
So is WoW, ffxiv and all the other big MMO's.
BDO is a dead game and it's p2w on top of that
It get constant updates, has a big playerbase and is less p2w than ffxiv and WoW.
What are you smoking?
They just added a new area and before that an entire new expansion.
Exactly what in my post is false?
>less p2w than ffxiv and WoW.
weak bait
WoW
>can buy gold for real money
>can buy best in slot equipment for gold at start of raids
>you HAVE to buy these if you want to compete in world first raids which involve real money
>on top of this the game is sub based
>and bi-yearly expansion packs that's fully priced
>and a cash shop
Yeah it is.
Meanwhile in BDO your equipment can permanently break if your upgrade fails. Luckily, they sell an item on the store that stops your gearing from breaking if an upgrade fails. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
ok, and what do you win by doing this?
In WoW you can win races backed by Blizzard if you win and p2w. What do you gain by p2w in BDO?
>In WoW you can win races backed by Blizzard if you win and p2w
Why are you bringing this up when only 0.000000000000001% of the playerbase participates in RWF?
How does that change anything I said?
If something doesn't apply to 99.99% of the playerbase, then it's not really a problem.
So how does it affect 99.99% of the playerbase that some whale buy cron stones to make it a bit easier to upgrade gear in BDO?
I don't know, I'm not the other guy you were talking to. I've played BDO for like 30 minutes.
>In WoW you can win races backed by Blizzard if you win and p2w.
Literally less than 0.5% of the player base right there
>What do you gain by p2w in BDO?
Power, i.e paying to win
What are you winning with power? In WoW you can straight out "win" by paying. But what do you win in BDO?
The same thing you win in WoW, you win the progression. Gearing up is the entire point of modern MMOs and both in BDO and WoW you can use real money to skip the entire process and grind.
Isn't this just another kickstarter mmo scam?
AoC is the only mmorpg I've been shilled into pre-purchasing even though most of these startup type studios are obvious scams and there are a few red flags but they are pushing all the right buttons so I can't help it
How much do you think this guy is getting paid shilling this piece of shit game?
People will shill a game due to sunk cost fallacy, so the answer may be in the negatives.
so what is the big draw of this game
especially when MMOs are dead, in hospice at best
They just need your $375 in a founder's pack to make this literal dream game come true.

let me guess, the ideal gameplay scenario is people standing around pressing buttons so dps can min-max their damage?
>let me guess, the ideal gameplay scenario is people standing around pressing buttons so dps can min-max their damage?
No, the game is designed to be more like Archeage in terms of combat. The CEO was really into that game. You can see that in some of the early siege footage.
Watch from 26:00 - https://youtu.be/gI5yPLhDQYc?t=1560
Do you have a video where Asmongold is playing? That would peak my interests a lot more.
>Do you have a video where Asmongold is playing?
I genuinely can't tell if you are ironic or not. I assume you are, but just in case you aren't, here's one of him "reacting".
Thanks duuuude! This game is looking lit!
If my man asmon loves it how can it be bad? frfr Asmon is the most real gamer out there so he can't lie!
What about some apps where you can see asmon play with the dev?
okay but what about pve? the real content?
>is everyone a human variant
>https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Races
Could have just said "yes".
What were you expecting exactly?
Not humans with varying levels of ugliness.
My favorite scam is better than your favorite scam
These chucklefricks have gotten so fricking lazy that they are now starting to not even put out the barebones monthly newsletters anymore. It's so pathetic.
They still send out regular updates. The last one I remember seeing was just pages and pages of waffle about frick all. They're just passing time until they can say 'oh the money's ran out, sorry guys'.
It had a 37 player peak.

not very creative for a "creation" game
>what classes are there
Ashes has this "archetype" system where you mix two of the archetypes to make your class.
No. There's humans, dwarves, elves, orcs and these beastmen guys that live underground.
the two classes mashup is genuinely the most moronic idea ever conceived
>10 fricking bard variations but no druid or monk
what a joke
Me?
I will be joining /ourguy/ asmongold's guild. The lead dev has already talked to and design the game around what Asmon likes so it's going to be HYYYPED! Big dick energy frfr
Can't wait to see /ourguy/ getting the exclusive mounts and gear only one person on the server can have!
fr bruh, can't wait to fork over my hard-earned ingame currency so he'll say my name on stream, and help carry him through raids where he locks all the gear he needs, shit finna be bussin
Surely, this will be the XIVkiller.
14 is already dead, troon.
>Surely, this will be the XIVkiller.
FFXIV is going the way of WoW and killing itself.
game is literally a scam, when will MMO players learn?
>game is literally a scam
Where's the scam part? The CEO has said multiple times that the game is already fully funded.
You mean like Camelot Unchained?
They never said that for Camelot Unchained. In fact, they kept begging for more money and having to go out and secure funding a handful of different times.
Yes they did, they did the kickstarter that reached FAR beyond what they asked.
is this you first time with mmo development? its always
>this mmo will save the genre
then 1 month after release
>its shit, dead game
this will be no different sadly, this is especially true when you consider that this is a brand new studio approaching an incredibly difficult genre with very ambitious ideas
>is this you first time with mmo development? its always
No, I have played MMOs for 20 years.
>this mmo will save the genre
It's not going to "save the genre" per se. It's going to be a niche game. Maybe a few hundred thousand players in total. But that's still way more than enough for this type of game.
you skipped the part where i said
>this is a brand new studio approaching an incredibly difficult genre with very ambitious ideas
>this is a brand new studio
That's true, but the CEO is a hardcore MMO nerd himself, and they seemingly have enough employees + enough money to be able to actually make an MMO. Not to mention that they put out monthly videos where you can see that they are making steady progress.
>with very ambitious ideas
The ideas are not really THAT ambitious. They are just taking a bunch of systems from older games, copying them, and putting them all into one package.
>I'm a hardcore gamer surely I know how to make a good video game!
So where did he study game design? Which MMO's has he worked on in the past and which studios has he been part of?
The CEO isn't the lead game designer.
>Bill Trost, one of the original designers on EverQuest, and most recently at Amazon Games, is the new Lead Designer on Ashes of Creation.
>and most recently at Amazon Games
THIS is your new MMORPG that surely won't fail
>game is in constant pre-alpha development
>change the engine on the way
>change the game director on the way
>homosexuals will still claim this is not a scam and will surely release
>change the engine on the way
They changed from UE4 to UE5. Why do you attempt to make it sound much worse?
>j-just move your game to the newer UE bro, it's that easy
Yeah, look how well the easy upgrade went for other games, like Blade and Soul, you moronic shill
I don't get what you are trying to say. They already switched to UE5 and there was no problem. It's obviously MUCH harder for a game like Blade and Soul that was made in fricking 2012 to switch to UE5 more than a decade later.
>So where did he study game design? Which MMO's has he worked on in the past and which studios has he been part of?
If you took a time travel machine back to 2001, you could literally ask this exact same thing about someone like Jeff Kaplan.
yeah and it would still be an extremely valid one, just like now, particularly when we see how WoW was a trendsetter and how many failed MMO projects followed it vs. the ones that are still alive on life support
A current day MMO would need to help revitalize the genre, which AoC wont seem to be able to do based on its development and ideas. At best itll be a dud while the whale-powered alternatives will continue until the heat death of the universe.
>A current day MMO would need to help revitalize the genre
The devs have said that they would be happy with 1 million players.
>1 million players
You know that not even fricking FFXIV has those numbers?
thats great anon, but that one million concurrent players wont fricking manifest itself when almost every MMO on the market cant scrape together that many subscribers
>mugh millions
blizzard mindbroke the entire industry since wotlk people talk about big numbers when nobody but out of touch boomer investors give a shit, they turned to UE5 when the crushing majority of players can't run it and they keep chasing the "very big MMO 100 man event" when the most played games in the world are parties under 5 players for a 20 minutes match/event/fight at most
The devs will take 10k and close down in a year, if this piece o shit ever even releases
expertise and experience really is important, i hope your right but ive just been let down by mmo's too often
>That's true, but the CEO is a hardcore MMO nerd himself
there is literally no such thing as a hardcore mmo nerd
playing one or even a couple mmos autistically doesn't make you king of mmos
You're just a zoomer scrub who hasn't played MMOs for +25 years.
1v1 me kolo gayget
He was also a massive whale in Archeage and ran a huge zerg guild. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt at the moment but I can't help but feel that p2w will creep into his game.
he played archeage, a terrible scam mmo and now he's trying to recreate archeage
it'll be shit
Archeage world, combat and systems is far superior to anything the west has done. Shame about the p2w tho.
I forgot all about that scam MMO that does nothing new for the genre
Western developers need to get out of the early 2000's.
I remember seeing a "magic showcase" video and it looked like shit.
>scam MMO
See
>that does nothing new for the genre
We don't need anything "new for the genre". We need to go back to oldschool systems, which is what AoC is doing.
>We need to go back to oldschool systems
Why would I play this over Pantheon if I want an oldschool MMORPG?
>look up the creator of Ashes of Scams
>Steven Sharif
That explains everything and why he pay shills like you here.
>Why would I play this over Pantheon if I want an oldschool MMORPG?
Because Pantheon is garbage and dead.
I also am just hoping they won't have a bunch of cosmetic exclusive item mall bullshit and instead will go back to the true old school MMO days of
>You pay your subscription fee, you get the whole fricking game including all the cosmetics, that you unlock by playing it!
The game is funded, the problem is, exactly where are those fund going?
Remember that battle royale BS they threw out there?
How about that cash shop they started before the game was (if it even is at this point) in beta?
>We need to go back to oldschool systems
>developers keep making "oldschool" mmos
>they all flop and die because mmos pre wow were fricking dogshit for mentally ill freaks with no friends
you should have a nice day
>developers keep making "oldschool" mmos
Never happened you moronic WoW zoomer
happens all the time, new world was gonna be an old school pvp mmo where you lost items on death
got scrapped, why? cuz neurotypical people don't like that shit
you're just bitter mmos aren't vehicles for you to grief people anymore
your only source of joy in games is trolling people and its pathetic, slit your throat
>got scrapped, why? cuz neurotypical people don't like that shit
It got scrapped because it was just an inferior Rust game where everything was a gankfest and Amazon realized that it wouldn't sell. So they pivoted to a themepark MMO instead.
it got scrapped because mmo players are not "hardcore" and never will be, normal people do not want to deal with that kind if autism, cope all you like but the reason games don't cater to your tastes anymore is because your tastes are abhorrent
>cope all you like but the reason games don't cater to your tastes anymore is because your tastes are abhorrent
What the frick are you sperging out about? I played WoW for like 15 years. I enjoy themepark MMOs too.
>Happens all the time
>List one game that gutted itself to be a shitty PvE game and died after a few months
Again, never happened moron
I'm not gonna list every failed mmo from the past few years for you, pathetic homosexual
hardcore mmos come out and then die instantly because in real life the amount of people with severe autism isn't that high, they simply cannot sustain an mmo
you need to have a nice day for the good of society
Name 3 then
It feels like every MMO posted in this thread is following the Star Citizen business model rather than a functioning one
Can't see a problem with that.
>he doesn't know about this homosexual's history in other games, particularly MMOs
I wouldn't trust this guy to run a fricking lemonade stand let alone an MMO
Why not?
>every guild he's run has been an utter fricking disaster that only subsists because he literally pays people to be in it
>made most of his money off MLM scamming (based but also why would you ever buy from someone doing this?)
>gay
>israeli
>the bleach clip
iykyk
>gay
This is the only one I wasn't aware of.
>the bleach clip
And I also have no idea what this is referring to.
There's an audio clip floating around (this was pre-AI craze so it's definitely not fake) of him telling a guild member "drink a bottle of bleach you fricking Black person" from his Archeage days
>him telling a guild member "drink a bottle of bleach you fricking Black person" from his Archeage days
Fricking BASED. I now have faith in Ashes of Creation.
>I wouldn't trust this guy to run a fricking lemonade stand
Well can you make better lemonade?
I don't see YOUR lemonade stand
wasn't this the game with a stream where they had to defend a merchant or something?
this entire event took like 30 minutes of braindead spamming?
it's the MMO where the developers were following asmongold and giving him everything, while continually sucking him off with everything they do
they were so fricking desperate they fricking implemented his literal ugly face into the game
>they were so fricking desperate they fricking implemented his literal ugly face into the game
Lmao is this true? I knew they were sucking off Asmon and creating the game around him. But didn't know it was this bad.
yes, literally google "ashes of creation asmongold" and go to images.
One guy has been defending this game like crazy for nearly 4h here now.
Totally not a shill
Why have you been here for 4 hours yourself?
he may have seen when the OP posted and scrolled through the comments
are you high on glue moron-kun
Remember when they removed the alchemy gun and further dialed back this game into tolkienslop?
I cant wait to see how absolutely generic and forgettable the final product is, if it even comes out.
Asmongold said this is the savior of mmo's and he's a genius MMO GOD!
>twitch dead
>no /vg/ general
>forums dead
>subreddit dead
Yeah bro that shit is deader than FF 14.
It's funny how Dofus did everything right but no one noticed because they're French.
Stinky pits and all baby!
>turn-based west-weeb MMO
No.
>west-weeb
what
Weeb-like art style, but made by westerners.
Why would anyone want the MMO genre to be saved?
Why would anyone play new shit when private servers of old MMOs are way better?
What Archetype will Ganker play?
For me its Spellstone.
Spellstone or High Priest/Minstrel for group/guild play, Scout/Shadowcaster/Nightspell for solo/ganking.
Hawkeye
I'm sure 85% of these will be useless.
It's 90% just aesthetic changes.
shadowlord
>Fighter
>Tank
Who came up with this shit
Those classes are loosely based on (lifted from) Archeage specialisations I guess
>Fighter = Battlerage
>Tank = Defence
>Rogue = Shadowplay
>Ranger = Archery
>Mage = Sorcery
>Summoner = Witchcraft/Occultism
>Cleric = Vitalism
>Bard = Songcraft
Based on that Shadowblade and Sorcerer will be op.
No druids? Why no druids?
Druids are shit.
No, they are soul. No druid no buy
>just copies archeage
*comes out and dies in 3 months when it becomes clear it has 10% of the content it actually needs*
Everything they showed looks like shit, and they try to pull off way too much.
>Sandbox but also themepark but also WvW but also asymmetrical PvP
>no pve content
it's over
The game will have raids and dungeons.
I bet there will be cooldowns and limits for how many raids/dungeons you can do a day/week. Typical shit game design.
>PvP focused game
>adding raids and dungeons
It's already over. You can't do this shit in a PvP focused game, PvPers that don't care about doing that shit will be FORCED to do it for gear and now you have already alienated a bit part of the audience you're seeking.
>pvp focused game
no such thing
pvpgays are so fricking self-centered and think games seriously revolve around pvp lmfao
Just go and play WoW and kill your same 5 bosses for 6 months straight if you love PvE so much.
>BRO BRO BRO PLEASE GIVE ME PVE IN THE PVP GAME PLEASE BRO PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
what % of mmo players play for pvp? do you chuds know? based on internet searches I've seen 10-20% guesstimates
so frick off if you seriously think any successful MMO is based around catering to PvPtards
>I HAVE NO CONTENT AND I MUST COMPLAIN
I don't play GW2.
>no arguments
pvp chuds lose again
enjoy your dead genre you content sucking locust. lol, lmao
So why the frick would anyone even play this game or create this game if nobody cares about PvP? The entire point of this game is that it's a PvP game... but you shouldn't play this game because of the PvP?
Because people are moronic.
>worst part of the genre
play better MMOs with well-designed content then
not my fault your MMOs you've played are shit
>play better MMOs with well-designed content then
Name some MMORPG's with PvE content that isn't like this.
DOFUS.
>You can't do this shit in a PvP focused game
They said a lot of the raids, world bosses and dungeons will not be instanced though, so you can actually PvP at them.
>Some old MMOs had things like that where it worked fine and was fun.
Yeah dead MMO's with like 10 players
It's not a PvP focused game you moron. It's a mixture of sandbox MMOs and theme park MMOs.
>Tab target slop
hahaha
pass
Content and unique experience is king. PvPtards BTFO. If your game can't captivate people it won't stick.
>best private server getting a full launch next month
Come home White man
Saw this being talked about in the SMT general. I played Re:Imagine before it got shut down and was bitter all my stuff got wiped. The New Moon developers aren't scared of a cease and desist and their server looks like it has a lot of effort put into it so I'll be playing it.
You know what's funny is you can't make characters with black skin in this game.
I love all these post-WoW zoomer posters in MMO threads thinking they know anything
>Dofus
>literally the name of the game
>legendary chase items
>dozens of dungeons, quests and tactical fights in-between
>is overall one giant, unique epic quest adventure just like how questing is supposed to be.
PvE content done right.
>MMO allows you to make hybrid classes
>everyone just plays the same 2-3 combos as everything else is useless
This happens every time.
>kickstarter mmo
they're all, ALL fricking scams
people need to start realizing mmos are fricking expensive and only big projects from established publishers are worth your attention
"indie mmos" are a pipe dream
BROS I can wait for Ashes of Creation. It will come out the same year as Star Citizen.
Dofusbros stay strong
They know not what they're missing
This game has loads of updates but they never talk about the most basic gameplay : do I need to farm to level up? is there quests? what do I do in the game if there is less than 1k players on my server?
there wasn't a single mom worth anybodies time since gw eotn
Guild Wars isn't an MMO
character models are ugly and you cant have massive breasts
I just find that animations, character models and overall graphics for the rest of the game clashes between each other, it seems like it was made for 3 different games and splashed them all together, not to mention the graphics will be horrible in a few years because of how realistic they are trying to make them
>not to mention the graphics will be horrible in a few years
This is just straight up wrong. Graphics have already peaked, games from almost a decade still look good today
post 10
Witcher 3
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Assassin's Creed Unity
Alien Isolation
The Last of Us Remastered
Infamous Second Son
Crysis 2
Crysis 3
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Halo 5
The Order 1886
Uncharted 3
Soma
Yes, kneel. You should be worried about how many players the game will be able to render before turning into a powerpoint presentation, rather than the graphical fidelity over the course of a decade.
unfortunately for you, I've already depicted myself as the chad.
the game will never release.
I've no stake in the game, even if it release and turns out to be good, I'm happy. If it's shit or never releases, then oh well
Alien Isolation's lighting is fantastic. Alien Isolation's textures are dated. Haven't played the rest of that slop to comment.
Those games look so fricking shit in comparison to cp2077
>morons falling for the ashes scam.
Dont Google the "CEO"s past.
AoC's combat is what holds it back, most new MMOs coming out are pushing for real action combat while AoC still has primitive conventional MMO combat with a "hybrid action" mode that only changes the way you aim abilities, it doesn't cut it.
mmorpgs can never be saved as long as theyre being held hostage by big name normiegay twitchstreamers and their normiegay viewerbase
Does the game have full loot pvp? If so, I don't see a future with it. Nobody is going to bother after getting ganked a couple of times.
Full loot pvp MMOs are hyper niche and even the ones crying for those games won't ever play them.
there's more variables to it
it has a pvp flag system similar to lineage 2 however I don't remember the penalties for PK

I believe you lose exp when you die even in pvp
