Mods really should give people like that 30 day bans, so tired of Black folk like that calling people shills if they want to talk about video games. Like what do they expect Ganker to be?
I can't say Black personmoron enough and people still assume I'm being paid to say it
It's a sad state when the internet has forgotten the golden rule of the internet - don't feed the trolls.
They're shitposters. They don't want to have a discussion or debate. They reply right from the front page with obvious bait and shitposting and never bother going into the thread.
If you morons would just ignore them and talk about games it wouldn't be an issue, but anytime someone calls you a shill you can't help but argue with random people for an hour trying to convince them that you're not a shill.

Talking about videogames and obvious shilling/advertising are completely seperate things.
>"OMG GUYS THIS UPCOMING GAME LOOKS TOTALLY SO AWESOME ITS GONNA LIKE BE A SMASH HIT AND MAKE SOOOO MUCH MONEY YOU SHOULD TOTALLY BUY IT DOOD" >"BROOOOOOO LOOK AT THIS *MAINSTREAM ECELEB STREAMER* SAYING THIS GAME IS GOOD HE'S LITERALLY /OURGUY/ YOU'RE GOING TO BUY THIS GAME NOW RIGHT???" >"WHAT? YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUY THIS GAME? COPE COPE COPE CONTRARIAN MINDBROKEN YOU DON'T EVEN PLAY VIDEOGAMES YOU TENDIE SNOY KEK"
This isn't "talking about videogames". And sadly, this is what Ganker is like most days.
ok then we should ban anyone who says something positive a video game because they're clearly an evil marketer (reddit told me that Ganker is a cool kids club where you're supposed to hate video games)
You can "say something positive" about a videogame without making it look like you're trying to sell a product.
And if people come here unironically posting sales figures and unironically telling people to buy whatever high budget slop is viral right now at full price (like tards who actually told people to buy Diablo 4) then they're not actual users, but advertisers.
Ok then who decides what is and isn't marketing? Do we appoint a mod to delete anything he thinks is advertising?

It's very simple.
When an user actually makes a post making an objective post about a videogame going over the good or bad, or even if shilling the game encourages to "try it for free" or even shares torrent links (or at least recommends a sale) this is a genuine user talking about a videogame
If a user >keeps coming to this board for weeks before release >posting the same images >greatly overhypes the game >keeps posting how OMG SO AWESOME it is and how it's totally be a smash hit >posts "marketable" WEBMs >unironically posts ecelebs like Asmongold or Penguinz0 calling them /ourguys/ and acts like them sucking off the game in question is a big deal >continuously posts threads only giving the game overwhelming praise >unironically posts review scores like they mean anything >unironically obsesses over sales numbers >more importantly, keeps acting in an overly passive-agressive manner and lashes out or avatargays in response to any criticism or posts that aren't just sucking off the game in question or just posts calling out the obvious shilling (common buzzwords used in response: "meds", "cope", "mindbroken", "tendie")
Then we're not dealing with a organic user, but a shill.
Okay, but at least it's not some indieslop bullshit like underhomosexual or that incest sibling coffin homosexual shit or whatever it is that I refuse to read about because of how insufferably pushed it is on here.
MMORPGs were fun before gen z started walking around and becoming almost able to dress themselves. It gets a pass.
How so? There are autists like germans who enjoy labor. LIke i played darkfall and our huge clan had a german farmer sub clan who did nothing but farm all day and supply the war effort.
Darkfall essentially dead a few months in, anon. These games are doomed to failure because doing a repetitive action for fricking hours isn't fun. These "I want to be a farmer! I want to be a miner!" delusions only work on paper. Gamers don't actually know what they want.
There are dedicated crafters in lots of MMOs, the real problem with the griefing-focused MMOs is that they eventually grief the playerbase dead. Albion and EVE manage because it's an entire playerbase of griefers griefing each other, so the playerbase is stable. But if you end up with griefers and PVEgays, once the PVEgays leave the game loses it's income and griefers lose their content.
Big maybe, no one in New World's alpha did fair PVP, it was all ganking and griefing. Maybe it could have formed a niche like EVE and Albion, but who knows.
But even most carebears have some prospect of going to the higher zones and becoming PvPers themselves eventually, either that or joining some guild that will provide them protection in Black Zones. The game is entirely pointless otherwise.

What point?
In terms of gameplay safezone plays same as black zone. You just get better rewards at higher risk. However there is an economy and you can trade.
Anonymous
Safezones are worthless and full of bots. No one wastes time with that other than to level skills. But I haven't played in a while, maybe that's changed now.
I highly doubt either game has much of a PVE community, given you can't access large parts of the game without full loss pvp.

There are a lot of pve players in eve but they're less pve players than they are risk-averse money grinders.

There are people who mostly PvE and have good strategies to escape ganking/PvP, mostly people who aren't in a guild. Back when I played people walked around with staves because of the high mobility skills that allowed them to run away, and you'd always inspect everyone on black zones looking for specialized gank gear. PvP is basically part of the game and you have to work in order to avoid it.

eve does the best “full loss” pvp because everything youre losing is easily replaceable
of course nobody wants to pvp in a full loss system when they’re risking some gear they killed a dragon 50 times to get
when you die in eve you can be back in the exact same “gear” you just lost in literally 30 seconds
mass production, relatively cheap but effective gear thats constantly being destroyed is vital for a full loot pvp system to function
First of darkfall lasted more than 2 years (dont remember accurate)
Secondary the people i mentioned stayed longer than me in the game. I would never farm, i would rather bot and risk my account but the farmer type is a real thing.
it isn't, it's free and runs on a phone so third worlders and autistic people bot it while occasionally tabbing over from youtube or netflix but nobody actually plays it because it's dogshit
>These "I want to be a farmer! I want to be a miner!" delusions only work on paper
I've only seen Mabinogi do these well because you have to r1 life skills if you want more stats.
I played some Korean game with some feudal rice farm aesthetic. Like two decades ago almost. And it too had player ran villages. And even had elections for what player got to be the mayor of each town etc.
The game wasn't that amazing. But at least it was ambitious.
I played Darkages which is a sister-game to that. In Darkages at least you'd run out of labor points real fast, so you didn't really spend most of your game time doing labor-related activities, it was mostly a daily thing. And yeah, the focus was more on RP.
>That was NexusTK
Interesting. But no, it wasn't actually.
I really wish I could remember what it was called though. I am certain that it was Korean at least.
>There are autists like germans who enjoy labor
Do you want to be beholden to them when it comes to using facilities and services in-game? I don't. Player-run is always shit because the only people willing to run things are the same people who become jannies and Reddit mods.
The devs fricked the good thing SWG had going by trying to turn it into WoW. They saw the big numbers WoW pulled when it came out and wanted a slice, not content with their small slice of the market.
Oh I know that anon, but I don't know if it'd have the same impact on a modern audience as it did back then.
Don't get me wrong I do want to see something try to bring that kind of MMO back instead of just trying to be safe and flop. I just feel zoomers are too impatient and won't get nearly as invested
>Not in 2023. It'd just be Streamer cliques.
Wouldn't fricking matter m8.
You are actually extremely incorrect.
What matters is Bnav skill, and poker skill essentially.
A tiny ass flag and crew can run islands in puzzle pirates because how much skill based it is.
As long as you can bankroll to pay blockade jobbing prices, and have a large enough fleet, which is entirely doable ingame doing enough BAKA runs, getting familiars out of them, playing poker etc.
The Bnavers run the shit, the jobbers do the bilging, carpentry, patching, etc, but the battle navigating is really where it matters. It's a game of chess, there is no pay2win stats, armors, its just who can strategize better.
So your elite crew of B-Navers wins the blockade over a large island, now your government, actual flag, rakes in tax income of EVERY CITIZEN on that island, and a small flag of elite Bnavers again, can take the large island, with the most shoppes, businesses, stalls, etc running on the island. So they're just raking in tax money to fund their next blockades war chest.
And the blockades were some of the best ways to make money for new unskilled people, who were just getting into the game.
Shit fricking worked flawlessly.
But zoomers dont play puzzlebased pirate games.
Tbf it's the only MMO I'm looking forward to. Seems to be the only decent budget upcoming MMO that has PvP in a meaningful way beyond instanced garbage.
One of the ways you will have to move mass amounts of mats around will be with caravans (or the like), so now you have players incentivised to risk PvP for large gains, and players who risk evoking the game's penalizing dishonor system by instigating PvP to take those gains
Me. I won't play an MMO without open-world PvP and territory control. No fun in an MMO if there's no risk/danger in the open-world. AI mobs don't pose a threat in any MMO.
This is the dumbest mind set and a fast way to kill your new mmo.

When talking about mmos you have to think about the majority of players and a majority of players do no like pvp. You can cry all you want about it but you can never escape this fact. Just play a PvP game if you want one and stop trying to force it in mmos. Sure you can have PvP in mmos but have it as it’s own mini game.

What I hate the most about mmo pvp gays is that they always whine about balance. Go to any mmo pvp subforum and it's flooded with whine about balance. In reality pvpgays don't want balance, they want to be able to one-shot everyone, they whine because they have to work for their kills. If they love pvp and "honorarbu" duels so much, there are dozens of pvp dedicated games, go play that.

Pretty much every single mmo with open world pvp had ganking, high levels bullying low levels and other sad shit. Only a few times did we have a honor guild vs guild and that was in tera online years ago. It was very fun but only happened a few times.

I don't find regular PvP games as fun as MMOs. I've played FPS's, I've played MOBAs, I've gotten good at both. But neither are as fun as PvP in an MMO.
In an MMO, the open-world is the most fun part. Running around the world, interacting with players, gathering, PvEing, PvPing, everything mixed together is what makes MMOs fun. But there needs to be risk in the open-world, and that risk never ever comes from AI mobs. The only way there is risk is if you add PvP to the equation.

Nope. In the 18 years I've played MMOs I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've killed a player that's a noticeably lower level than me. There's no fun in 1 shotting people who can't fight back. It's like smurfing in games with ranked modes. No fun in killing Bronze players when you're Master or whatever.

Dude you're just some loser with a power trip in a video game. Maybe get a job and find real life challenges instead of trying to larp as some arbiter of content and justice.
I mean Blue Protocol isn't even an MMO. There is literally no official marketing from them in the past year+ that call it an MMO. Not their Twitter, Instagram, website, press releases, no where call it an MMO. The open-world can also only have 30 people in 1 area. That is not an MMO.
No one wants to be a fricking farmer online and have what is essentially a second job. It's wild that there are morons who ever thought that this was a fun idea.
No one has managed to pull it off well as far as I'm aware. What could be a game-changer in MMOs is AI dynamically creating content, but that's still years ahead.
What I found interesting in Trackmania 2020 is that there is a "Track of the Day", which is made by a player and subjected to a mostly automated review process by other players. People actually spend hundreds of hours on tracks for the honor of having the track of the day and there's a daily competition around it.
An MMO with a decent editor could have a player-made "campaign of the week" in a similar system.
Anonymous
Based. But that falls under the category of "good idea," which would unfortunately contradict the entire identity and premise of the cash-grabbing MMORPG genre.
I'm beginning to think that endless MMOs are just pointless entirely. The problem is that after 100 hours max all good content has been exhausted and there needs to be a hamsterwheel to keep the playerbase, but the hamsterwheel is segregated from the good content, so after 2 months new players have nobody to play with and rush to the endgame to not be lonely.
The only solution would be to close the servers after 1-2 months and tell the players to come back, when the next campaign is ready.
Actually that's what I want, I want the MMO to feel like a virtual world, eve comes the closest as it is but it has been completely ruined with p2w and the gameplay isn't very fun.
MMOs are basically jack of all trades games that suck at everything. The only "advantage" is having a billion people playing, but even that is more of a disadvantage most of the time.
Can't wait for this to become abandonware a month after release just like all the other MMOs that were supposed to save the genre ever since WoW shat all over the genre.
>Oh boy I can't wait to play this game and run my own little town >What the frick why is are all the land and titles taken by some group of sweaty 24/7 no life nerds >Hello evening player, don't forget to pay your taxes to our guild in order to access the quest board
This is always going to be the issue with these games and there is no satisfactory solution because people getting rewarded for the time they put in is a basic necessary concept for any game. It's either that or zerg guilds taking everything.
>This is always going to be the issue with these games
And it's why they are all shit unless the supply outstrips the demand that can be generated by autistic players.
>because people getting rewarded for the time they put in is a basic necessary concept for any game.
no, it isn't
99% of games actually do not have a reward for you merely sinking time into them, usually rewards come from you being competent.
devs should ignore morons like you, admit that time is not something that deserves a reward and simply make challenges and rewards based on skill. In an ideal game a new player who is competent would be able to preform just as well if not better than some no life 90 iq autist
>Thank god I gave up on mmo's.
The best choice I did
Same. Massively multiplayer is basically counteractive to fun and freedom. I don't have to be a 24/7 autist competing with a million people, and I can enjoy games in my own terms.
I played some Korean game with some feudal rice farm aesthetic. Like two decades ago almost. And it too had player ran villages. And even had elections for what player got to be the mayor of each town etc.
The game wasn't that amazing. But at least it was ambitious.
Did the person that wrote that article even watch the video? They specifically state that you can't build mini-villages with the Freehold system because there's a minimum of 150m gap between Freeholds.
This is the main flaw with crafting in these MMOs, there is endgame to it. Especially in hardcore PvP games where items are going to have to be disposable to a big extent, no one gives a shit about someone being a renowned blacksmith, for instance.
To earn gold and get good gear you fricking moron. These games used to have gold-based progression systems, player run economies, were monthly sub-based and had zero P2W. You got what you put in. There were countless ways to earn gold, nothing forced you to be a farmer or a crafter.
I just remembered the fiasco that was ArcheAge. It had a plot system and it was overrun with bots who took every single piece of land. You literally couldn't farm or do anything yourself and you were at the mercy of other players who had full control of the market.
You're thinking of secret farms. You couldn't steal off peoples plots of land. But players could plant trees and other stuff outside of their plots, but these things could be stolen by other players. So players would glide up random mountains in order to hide "secret farms" so they could farm more than they could fit on their land plots. Other people would then try and hunt down peoples secret farms. Was fun.
That wasnt the biggest problem in Archeage, the first Patch was great and had a big population of players. It really only died with the patches introducing extremely grindy but neccessary gear upgrades, and pay to win tier rerolling, that created an impossibly large powergap between chars
>Player-driven
More like Bot- and Neet-driven content. Shit likes this is fun for the first two or three months but once the bots and hyper autists take over, you can forget your "participation" as a normal player.
Tbf the first few years they had no employees. When it started dev they had like 15 employees and couldn't hire fast at all (they wanted 100 employees by the end of 2018 but didn't get 100 till 2021). No way you can build a big MMO with 20 employees.
Now they're hiring at a decent pace so progress is getting faster. This months stream is supposed to be about the Node system which is the core system of the entire game which we haven't gotten an update on in 3 years.
>You can't build a big mmo with 20 employees
Project Gorgon did it with 2 people.
Hell, these days, with how widely available everything is, some autist could singlehandedly make the entirely of everquest by himself in a couple of weeks.
This moronic meme that still gets pushes that 'omg mmos so huge such big herculean tasks omg' is moronic. They're usually barren worlds with copypasted mobs running around, it's almost all data entry for quests and items
I don't trust devs who just use UE's base overly-contrasty postprocessing as is rather than having the sense to tweak it to make the game actually look nice.
You just kinda walk up to your plot and you can click your animals for resources, etc. You don't need other players to do these things for you and you dont do it for hours, at least thats what I gathered from the vid
Sandbox MMOs can't work because they inevitably end up being dominated by a select few neet sociopaths who are 10x better at ruining the game for 99% of the playerbase than even the worst of MMO devs.
Like crowfall, this will flop. Due to whales, it will stay on for a while while milking large whales. Streamers/"influencers" have literally ruined all of these "open world player run pvp type games" because you can't just go in with your 3-5 friends and have fun. You're either a small nobody guild or you join some mega zerg guild filled with troony homosexuals just to have a chance at playing content, and you sit in their discord and have to listen to their callouts like a little b***h.
Open world PVP griefer MMOs are dead. They died back in 2010 with like Aion, Archeage, and Rift. They aren't coming back.
>"LOOK AT ALL THE RACES YOU CAN BE!" >"yeah you can't be this or that because they're not meta" >Combat in general is more cluttered than GW2 boonstacking
Didn't they close the servers by now? They didn't even drum up the presses for their full release and killed their own game more or less by being quiet.
PVP MMOs don't work anymore.
Players are more willing to go play a BR or a team shooter or a CS clone or a survival game with full PVP like ARK than they are to play an MMO that also has PVP.
The entire MMO genre is dead. It was a product of the time and only really exploded because the idea of conversing with people from all over the world was novel. They've been glorified chat rooms since the beginning, and in 2023 with dozens of major social media apps/sites there's no need for glorified chat rooms.
Because every single MMO on the market is dead or dying.
Because there's only like 3 major MMOs in development right now and all 3 of them are at least 5 years out of being released.
Because the entire genre has been supplanted by MMO-Lites ala Destiny, by BRs, by MOBAs, by Survival games.
Because there are no new players joining the genre, it is just the same pool of existing MMO players that shuffle around between games when their main game is between content patches.
Because every single MMO on the market has signficantly slowed it's content cycles or amount of content dropped.
Should I go on?
Just because FFXIV is doing okayish doesn't mean the genre isn't dead. There will always be outliers.
FF XIV is also unique because it has >a massive RP community, maybe one of the biggest of currently running MMOs >a massive PVE community that would normally never touch an MMO
Now remove all the asian MMOs which will be blatant cashgrabs designed to die in 2-3 years. Also i've played Wayfinder, it is not even remotely a fricking MMO, you will probably have to remove a few more games on that list
>Also i've played Wayfinder, it is not even remotely a fricking MMO
It's apparently a weird mix. There's open areas and hubs with 100 players. If people call Genshin, Tower of Fantasy, etc. MMOs, then Wayfinder can be called one too.

I'm not going to bother with the rest of your list. >You mean the one that has been scrapped and is being retooled into a Tarkov style extraction game?
No. That's not a thing that has happened. Blizzard's game is Odyssey. Are you talking about Arc Raiders?
>You mean the guy that just left Riot like 5 months ago and the guy that just left Blizzrd like 2 months ago? lmao
He left Blizzard 10 years ago in 2013. Then he started working for Riot in 2014. In 2018 he began work on Riot's MMO. In March 2023 he left Riot. Are you on some sort of drugs?

>In March 2023 he left Riot. Are you on some sort of drugs?
Alright, I got the companies mixed up. Doesn't change the fact that both major players that you mentioned were working at other companies up until a few months ago, and any game - let alone an MMO that they're planning on doing for a studio that may or may not even exist right now - is still about a decade down the line.

Why are you literally lying like this? Holy frick you are a weirdo. I can't reveal what I know, but I know for a fact that you are literally just spouting absolute nonsense.
Odyssey is a Rust/Ark + Valheim styled survival game, with an anime-like artstyle and an "isekai" fantasy. The game has several hundreds of players per server. It has clans. You work together to craft and survive(bridging the gap between hardcore players and casual players, because everyone will be useful for different things), while doing things like small PvE missions in the world, big PvE raids, PvP encounters, and so on. It will be a "live service" type of game where they have seasonal resets and there will be battlepasses.

I wish I could see your face in November when you find out that your friend has been lying to you, for whatever reason, and that Odyssey is not at all a Tarkov-styled game in any way.
You people underestimate how much money MMOs make.
Even MMOS that nobody talks about are making lots of money as evidenced but relatively frequent expansions. GW2, EVE online, ESO, BDO, these are all still printing money despite being, as a whole, pretty unpopular. Even WoW, despite splitting it's playerbase like the morons they are, are still printing money.
>Pre-China EoS WoW, Maple and DFO are the biggest MMO moneymakers >they cope that their game is the best MMORPG.
Those three games rely on people selling tokens, cubes and packages to one another, how does that make them "the best MMOs"?
Whales are keeping some of these smaller games going too. The modern MMO has evolved beyond creating subscribers and moved into attracting those that make regular cash shop purchases. EvE is a good example as you can indirectly convert real money to ingame money or skill points. The developers can use strategically timed sales to manipulate the price and supply of items that real money spenders will be tempted to purchase.
There's no good mmo out there because mmo always will be live service money making machine and so it will have shit features like collect 999leaf, farm boss and doing same shit over and over
Unironically dark souls is a better mmo than any "mmo" out there
>Unironically dark souls is a better mmo than any "mmo" out there
You mean a griefing sim that has 100% risk for the PVEgay and 0% risk for the griefer? Yeah, very MMOish, which is why it's always in danger of running out of victims.
It's dead. The devs are 'busy' slowly updating the 3d version.
The new game is awkwardly bloated to the point where it would be a great crafting game if it wasn't trying and failing to get players to do anything else.
MMOs without skillbased action combat are outdated and lame, AoC only has generic cooldown abilities/range check combat with a pseudo action mode that just replaces the tab targeting with superficial aiming, it isn't enough.
I'm looking forward to Archage 2 and Chrono Odyssey instead, maybe even the LoL MMO if that indeed has action combat.
MMO design was already perfected and solved with early Archeage. It had perfect content for both PvP and PvE players. Of course the game went P2W daily-quest based trash few weeks after release.
Just copy beta phase Archeage and you've got your perfect MMO. I wonder why nobody does this.
Because you probably didn't play it otherwise you'd know the base game is exactly the same as every other shit mmo with shit quests, shit combat and a shit world. The only reason the game ever had any popularity to begin with was that non-instanced housing and sailing were novelties back then.
>vaporware
They are making good monthly progress. It's slow, but it's definitely not vaporware.
>the only selling point is "You can be a fricking NPC"
Have you even looked into the game at all? It's gonna have territorial control, city building, open world PvP, siege warfare, guild vs guild, and so on. This is the least "you can be an NPC" game because it's bringing back oldschool freedom ala games like UO and SWG.
I've tried several times to get into BDO because I can't avoid hearing about how it's good. I always get filtered in the first few quests because I hate the UI and engrish feel, when does it get good?
I had already played Everquest, DAoC, Lineage 2, Runescape, MapleStory and Shadowbane before I played WoW.

No, it was because they looked at all the other MMOs and took pieces from here and there, and created something that was extremely streamlined and smooth from beginning to end. The overall polish of WoW is what made it so appealing to so many people. It was lightyears ahead of any other MMO at the time. Just look at the combat+movement, for example, it was created in 2004 and now in 2023 it still hasn't been topped in terms of how smooth it is, how fluid it is, how impactful sounds and animations felt, etc.

It was more in reference to how you were able to play something like a melee and you could actually continually circlestrafe while never missing any attacks, you could turn on a dime, you could jump while in combat, as soon as you hit a button it would INSTANTLY happen, etc. etc.
You wouldn't understand it if you weren't there for older MMOs which were a gigantic slugfest both in terms of visuals, but also underlying mechanics, including piss poor lag compensation and netcodes.

>Why do you think it managed to become such a huge success compared to all other MMOs?
Because it was THE fortnite equivalent back int he days, cartoony super casual game that catered kids and was played 99% by young kids.
That's why so many people praise it on Ganker now, because they played it as kids and has nostalgia for it now. While everyone back in the days made fun of it like we do with fortnite now.
>the best open world of all MMO's >rare items are actually fricking rare >pvp has insane skill ceiling >nearly every NPC you can interact with has a backstory of their own >being a full time lifeskiller is more than viable and you can play the game without doing any combat >most in-depth mount system
I'm so glad that this game filters morons on Ganker so much because it's not like WoW
Bdo is a endless grinding simulator that looks pretty. It will always be trash because it’s a Korean mmo trash game and I’m honestly surprised it’s still alive.
>n-no
Like I said, glad you got filtered. And it's a fricking MMO, of fricking course there will be grinding. Why do zoomers except to play an MMORPG and do zero grinding?
It's hilarious how BDO has pretty much everything someone wants from an MMO yet people still only talk about WoW and XIV
People still fall for those Redditors seething about the game

>>n-no
You didn't respond to anything he said except the grinding point, and you straw manned him on that. Pathetic.
BDO is a game that has equal parts amazing, and dogshit. There are concepts that I wish other MMOs would adopt, but at the same time those concepts are in a game that doesn't allow trading with friends. Also the PvE combat grinding is horrendously boring.
I really wish it were good, because I liked sailing, and the housing system and even the contribution network, but the game is unenjoyable for the majority of playtime.
>when does it get good?
Any MMO that has the KMMO style grinding on weapon upgrades and limited energy to do trade skills that slowly replenishes over time (or you can buy to skip) aren't worth your time regardless of how "good" it gets at the end game.
BDO is pretty much a second job that you need to spend money on after you come back from job that actually pays you.
To get started you'll have to drop around $200 just to jumpstart your grind because everything is so goddamn grindy that playing without "conveniences" they sell at store is pretty much masochism that only NEETs can handle.
Forget about ever turning your PC off because your game has to run in background 24/7/365 since you'll be skilling professions.
After some time you'll finally be able to make actual in-game money and start buying good shit but before you get full gear it will be months. Then after months of endless grinding you'll complete your first non-shit gear so you can actually think about killing some people or something that brings profit, you just have to watch out for people with better gear because if they outrank you by one damage you are pretty much fricking dead and to get back at them you'll have to participate in most moronic upgrading system that korean mmos designed.
Now buy and upgrade your shit until you have required amount of damage so you can do pvp or some shit I don't fricking know what's the end game at that point. Good luck catching up years of daily grind and prepare your wallet to bleed, but hey, you can take pictures of bawds in $30 skins or something.
>To get started you'll have to drop around $200 just to jumpstart your grind
Stopped reading there, have you actually played the game or are you just reading 5 year old Reddit posts?
I used to play it but not anymore. Good luck gathering without tent, not having 5 premium pets or picking up shit from the ground without extra paid capacity
>they give out pets like free candy >tent I can give you, put that's one time 30 dollar (or 15 if you buy pearls on sale).
What more is it that you need to spend 200 bucks on? Outfit they give away like every month and is super easy to buy on the marketplace.
Non of the premium subs are needed and I've played without one for years now.

>you don't have to pay $200 at all if you want to start >you just have to wait months until they give it to you, maybe, I guess?
yeah sure
same, tried to get into it twice, a ninja then a musa and I stopped around lvl 50 both time
that game feels like an internet browser full of adwares and searchbars in MMO form, dozens of constantly blinking icons on your screen, items to retrieve so they can quickly fill your tiny inventory space and you don't know their uses or their value, stupid mini games to play etc... easily the least new player friendly big MMO on the market outside of autism simulators like EVE
The main design flaw of MMORPGs is that the "massively" aspect comes at a huge cost to everything else in the game. If the massively part of it isn't bringing huge benefits to the game to offset those costs, then the entire genre is pointless. And guess what, it isn't, to the point devs have been slicing it off for instanced content for a long time now. The moment I realized that the massive thing is what gave me the most frustration about these games is the moment I stopped craving to relive my first MMO experience. MMOs were novel at first, but now everyone is an hyperoptimized homosexual who wants to be at the top of everything and that hypercompetitive mentality turns the game into a second job.
I'd much rather have a normal game with a simulated "massively" aspect at this point where I can trive at my own pace.
lmao
i started with UO
played EQ for a bit until DAoC came out
played that until TOA ruined it and switched over to wow for literally 1 month before dropping it in favor of FF11. kept that until LOTRO came out, went from that to Warhammer online, to AION, to EQ2, to DCUO, to Rift, to Secret World, to SWTOR, to FF14, to New World, and at this point I've completely given up on the genre.
I've put countless thousands of hours into MMOs and of all of them, WoW is the one that I've played the least other than the random 1 weekenders that I tried out like Albion Online or Bless or any number of random KMMOs.
But sure, I'm just a WoW cuck that doesn't know any better, because I don't like the way KMMOs are designed around MTX. Makes sense I guess.
Aion is a KMMO
Also just beacuse I didn't autistically list every single MMO I've ever played doesn't mean I never played them. I put hours into L2, into Vindicus, into Lost Ark, into BDO, into Archeage.
Thats how I know KMMOs are all the same dogshit RNG simulators that rely on MTX shops to bypass upgrade failures. They might have slightly better core gameplay then western MMOs, but it's not worth it in the face of the high end gearing systems in place.
What goalpost are you going to move this time to try to discredit me?

There's a LOT of free or easier paths to endgame that (while requiring a bit of a time investment) make things so much easier. Add in things like Magnus, Jetina's Gear and pity Infinite potions and you'll always have something to do.

why is it so hard for game devs to just release completed games in a reasonable amount of time
Not close to release, but it will see the light of day eventually. The CEO has said multiple times that the game is already fully funded and that they don't need any more money, so it will come out eventually.
Boy I can't wait to play this game fr fr so I can play with my guy Asmon, it will be buzzin I will give him all the gold and materials I farm.
We are going to dominate the server and nothing will stand in our way no cap.
No but seriously, the entire game is designed around streamers. Who the frick is going to play this except for the streamers and their viewers?
>Who the frick is going to play this
Me, because I'm a desperate husk that wants to relive the glory days with the boys and a couple of them are very interested in this game. I want to get in early and have fun clowning with my bros before the meta forms and makes everything unfun.
I really hope this project comes through, the previews look so promising.
If the company wasn't run by a MLM Scam israelite I probably would have bought in at this point.
Go ahead and attempt to explain how it's not legit, when people have literally played the alphas, and we see monthly dev blogs with full-on gameplay, and a realistic amount of progress being made.
>slave away at work for 8 hours >get home >slave away in a virtual village for 8 hours that you're probably going to be paying monthly for, not to mention the upfront cost of buying the game (70 bucks+++)
T-thanks
How many times do you have to be shown that these types of kickstarter games pretty much always end up being scams? They'll keep dragging people along with development at a snails pace until people just forget about it.
Where's the scam if the CEO has already said multiple times that the game is already fully funded and they don't need any more money to complete the game?
1) Many people, including streamers and content creators, have already played the alpha
2) Going by the progress they have been making, it's not gonna be 2033, but it might take another 4-5 years. But like I said, the game is fully funded, and I don't mind waiting.

Anyone who bought into the alpha could play, ya dingus. Also, a lot of the content creators were critical of several things, which the CEO agreed with them on. I don't know why you have such a weird obsession with this game when you clearly have no actual idea about it.
Western type of itemization >all your gear and hard work become obsolete in every 4 months when a new raid tier is out >the instant the patch hits all the hard work you've put into to get the gear is gone
asiatic type of itemization >Gear you get will always be useful somehow, but the grind is nearly endless. If you get an endgame item it will stay an endgame item all the time
Another option: do it like Albion Online where gear is lost and then you have to have a steady resupply of gear, which keeps the economy rolling through crafting/gathering/trading/etc.
Something to do, the current patch cycle in FFXIV is awful. Every other patch you get new savage fights where you can get better gear and challenge yourself, patches with no savage fights added to them often has like 1 new ex fight you do for one day.
And outside of savage fights gear in FFXIV is totally useless as everything scales down.
>only counts savage fight as content
Post ignored, go be a homosexual somewhere else. Bet you haven’t even did BA or DRS

But that's the only content you get in FFXIV? Every other patch a savage fight and then you get like 1 EX fight and a 24-man raid you do once. And no I don't count shit as Island Sanctuary that is designed to be automatic as content.

What the frick are you on about? They have said the opposite of this. They have laid out exactly what you can do and how things function. Every single feature in the game is just a copy/paste of other features from other games. Nothing in this game is something crazy or new.
>Will probably go bankrupt, if it isnt a scam, before it even launches and maybe sold to another studio
They are fully funded and have more than enough money to complete the game.
Any game that panders to streamers are going to fail, the game being an MMORPG makes this even worse.
Using streamers to market your game and balance the game around is the biggest redflag.

The world seems like a mishmash of random junk thrown together in a pile, with races, monsters, flora and fauna that often don't make any sense together at all.

That is literally what Ashes of Creation is. Territorial control, city building, politics systems, with full on siege warfare for guild vs guild battles, and PvE + crafting stuff to supplement.
Really? Neat, I didn't know. I'm not gonna preorder on principle but I'm intrigued now.
it'll turn into a few large guilds taking over everything like always
The 1984 dystopia is what I'm here for. I fully expect at least one nation to become a dictatorial shithole with weekly political purges. If that doesn't happen I'll be sorely disappointed with gamers.
Do you think terrorism will be possible or are they not going to allow that?
>Make it so there's no actual story and it's just player-run nation-states existing and fricking each other over
That is literally what Ashes of Creation is. Territorial control, city building, politics systems, with full on siege warfare for guild vs guild battles, and PvE + crafting stuff to supplement.
The entire point of the genre is to make virtual worlds where you can simulate a more exciting life than the real one. Not a theme park where you run quests until you get to max level and then just run raids and queue for pvp. I hope this game does that.
They have to earn an equivalent item-type and reach to a certain part of the game to get it. I.E. boat skin you have to first craft a boat which takes a long time to do and do a supplementary quest.
To reiterate, the skins are just recolors of stuff you get ingame anyways. The game is funded partially through Steven (the CEO) who is a billionaire, and cosmetics, and when the game eventually launches there is a sub price. However, there is no box price for the base game or expansions.

That's Ashes of Creation.
The fact that basically everyone ITT sees themselves as the griefing pvp players instead of the PvE farmers, when for this concept to even remotely work the ratio needs to be the exact opposite should tell you everything you need to know.
This is moronic idea for morons and I expect to never hear about this shilled game again after closing this thread.
>when for this concept to even remotely work the ratio needs to be the exact opposite should tell you everything you need to know
Objectively untrue. See
Have you actually played games like UO, Shadowbane, SWG, Darkfall, EVE, Albion Online, etc.? Because this has never been a problem in any of these games. There's always more than enough people who enjoy doing menial shit like crafting/gathering/hunting/scouting/etc. to help carry the guild.
There's going to be a crypto-centric Ragnarok Online server and you can PK in MvP and mining maps. Are you ready to see another pinoy die over a GTB card?
mmogays are unironically the most pathetic segment of video game players. still clinging to this dead genre in an effort to run away from their real life problems that have almost certainly grown precisely because of the time they wasted on mmos. I know this because I used to play mmos
this game was obviously going to fail from day 1
you look at all the assets, the races, mounts, landscapes, everything in the game is generic as frick. It looks like the kind of shit some tiny dev would make in unity as a proof of concept
All the good ideas for game systems in the world won't make up for that. i think people will quickly find all the tired shit from other mmos very quickly here too. building cities is just killing 12 boars over and over to help progress. they'll find the same shitty dungeons and mmo combat (even worse, hybrid action combat that is always fricking shit) and endgame designed to keep you running the same content over and over again, just like every other mmo everyone's tired of.
people really think killing boars for 12 hours and then seeing a tiny procedurally generated hamlet appear is going to have any lasting power and that the rest of the game won't flop down like a cardboard cutout within weeks, not even months
BG3 can afford to do that because it's riding the coattails of existing D&D lore. Few people are going to care about the lore and world in a new game when it looks generic. It's a problem that has kneecapped other MMOs too, the only saving grace Ashes has in this regard is that the player-run focus might be able to make up for it.
Yup. It's one of the reasons their divinity series never really got big outside of the CRPG crowd and even there, it's not that big
Generic as shit.
BG3 will get a shitton of attention by default based on the name alone.
>people really think killing boars for 12 hours and then seeing a tiny procedurally generated hamlet appear is going to have any lasting power and that the rest of the game won't flop down like a cardboard cutout within weeks, not even months
You are a fricking mongoloid who has CLEARLY never played any game like this, if this is what you think these types of games are like.
This shit will flop. It literally looks like every other shitty MMO with Unreal Engine asset store aesthetics.
There's also no point in player-run anything when the genre has cultivated the most autistic losers in the medium. The only time player-run shenanigans has ever worked is Habbo Hotel.
>This should tell you everything about ashes and why it will never come out.
It's the opposite. He has openly said that he has used his scam money to fund this MMO because it's his dream MMO. That's why it will come out. He's a turbo sperg who used to run a guild in Archeage, then got scorned by the devs, and now he's making his own MMO.
>the CEO is SUUPER based xD >he's actually just like us!
Whatever they're paying you, you don't deserve it. You're not doing a good job, you're too obvious.
>game doesn't exist >everyone says how amazing it will be and will conquer the MMO genre >also spouting bullshit about how the CEO is totally /ourguy/ my fellow anons
Sure, I'm the schizo here for not believing any of this
Is it gonna be everquest? Is it gonna be UO? What is the goal here? It can't be both. I'm sorry but the care bears who played everquest and the grogs playing uo just aren't gonna sit in the same space playing the same game. And from what I have seen since forever, sandbox pvp mmos are just dead on arrival.
anyone that played ark official pvp a reasonable amount can say this garbage is doomed to fail. it’s niche garbage for the most autist of no lifers and it always suck, especially in some sort of huge mmoesque world, literally uplayable. it will be streamers guild war with their army of braindead slaves
Yeah because no one can fricking work together. It's always some fricking moronic monster screaming >have a nice day! have a nice day! >ITS TIME TO PAY THE TOLL!
and just mindlessly destroying all your shit because they spent 20 hours a day online and you spend 5
>The game contained 50 cities spread over five lands, each of which is ruled over by a fearsome dragon. All cities within these empires were subject to PvP battles for control of land and resources. The game was very PvP centric, and players had control over the economic and social realities within each city their guild possessed. A special system of "pending experience points" existed, which would award experience upon one's return from adventuring in lands outside your own race's terrain. The more daring you were, the more potential you had to earn this bonus, but bounty hunters could claim these points if they killed you on their side. Other features allowed for customization with skills and gear such that even two characters of the same race and class could still be distinct. Trade was also a large part of the game. All players had access to their own artisan and workshop, where gathered resources could be crafted into valuable goods. Those goods could be transported to other cities for experience as well as money, but traders were subject to sacking, risking loss of both product and experience.
>Go into a streamer settlement with nothing valuable to annoy them >Push their buttons to a point where they go berserk on stream with a death threat or no-no word
>and still can't play it?
People have already played it though. They even lifted the NDA for Alpha 1. Here's some gameplay from 2021, from everyone's beloved Asmongoloid.
When people use MMO to talk about games that have more than like 50 people on the same server i know it's a disingenuous arguement.
People literally mean MMO in the way GW2, OSRS/RS, WoW, FFXIV, and ESO are MMOs.
Not "Look we kept 50 people running around a small area without the server crashing.
No one would consider a large scale Minecraft server a MMO or roblox a MMO.
those are not MMOs lol
talking with people in a "hub" and then finding a group to do instanced dungeons with 3-4 other people is not an MMO
you dont know what an MMO is
rust is more of an MMO than those games
minecraft is an MMO when played on a large server
>rust is more of an MMO than those games
You're the kind of homosexual who claims a hot dog is a sandwich. You're a contrarian and nobody wants to talk to you because your opinions are moronic.
He is kinda right though. RUST has servers that can hold like 200 people. If people count Genshit Impact, Tower of Fantasy, Blue Protocol as "MMOs" then RUST is much more of an "MMO" than those games.
I was about to respond to you in earnest but I noticed you've used a derogatory portmanteau, so you're 99% likely to be controlled by one of the mind virus strains. Thanks for the effort, champ.
BP is as much of an MMO as any other Korean styled garbage it just takes it one step further by fricking you in the ass with a gacha. It is not a game like Genshin Impact, I would say it is a much worse idea in practice actually.

>BP is as much of an MMO as any other Korean styled garbage
Blue Protocol has 30 players per zone/channel. 200 players in towns.
AoCchads, for a low low price of $100 I will send you a promise of a game I will totally make. It will be the best game ever created, and you should already get hyped for it. Contact me at [email protected] for your own special preorder with a lot of exclusive bonuses!
I would have played it but the corruption system is probably the worst thing I've ever seen in any mmo and that alone ruins it. Insanely moronic and backwards to add that to a "pvp" mmo, its just going to absolutely kill small scale pvp for how hard you're punished for zero reward and it will only be used for shit like guilds fighting over dungeons. Ashes looks its making moronic decisions on par with New Worlds where they just don't understand the game they're making.
*advertises on anonymous imageboard*
asmongold does enough advertising for them already.
What can you expect from people that think spoonfeeding is OK because it pwns the oldgays
>2008
Talking about videogames and obvious shilling/advertising are completely seperate things.
>"OMG GUYS THIS UPCOMING GAME LOOKS TOTALLY SO AWESOME ITS GONNA LIKE BE A SMASH HIT AND MAKE SOOOO MUCH MONEY YOU SHOULD TOTALLY BUY IT DOOD"
>"BROOOOOOO LOOK AT THIS *MAINSTREAM ECELEB STREAMER* SAYING THIS GAME IS GOOD HE'S LITERALLY /OURGUY/ YOU'RE GOING TO BUY THIS GAME NOW RIGHT???"
>"WHAT? YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUY THIS GAME? COPE COPE COPE CONTRARIAN MINDBROKEN YOU DON'T EVEN PLAY VIDEOGAMES YOU TENDIE SNOY KEK"
This isn't "talking about videogames". And sadly, this is what Ganker is like most days.
See
ok then we should ban anyone who says something positive a video game because they're clearly an evil marketer (reddit told me that Ganker is a cool kids club where you're supposed to hate video games)
If a user
>keeps coming to this board for weeks before release
>posting the same images
>greatly overhypes the game
>keeps posting how OMG SO AWESOME it is and how it's totally be a smash hit
>posts "marketable" WEBMs
>unironically posts ecelebs like Asmongold or Penguinz0 calling them /ourguys/ and acts like them sucking off the game in question is a big deal
>continuously posts threads only giving the game overwhelming praise
>unironically posts review scores like they mean anything
>unironically obsesses over sales numbers
>more importantly, keeps acting in an overly passive-agressive manner and lashes out or avatargays in response to any criticism or posts that aren't just sucking off the game in question or just posts calling out the obvious shilling (common buzzwords used in response: "meds", "cope", "mindbroken", "tendie")
Then we're not dealing with a organic user, but a shill.
>2008
they changed their stance on this after borderlands

Gamers don't actually know what they want.
most people want big damage numbers, that's all
There are dedicated crafters in lots of MMOs, the real problem with the griefing-focused MMOs is that they eventually grief the playerbase dead. Albion and EVE manage because it's an entire playerbase of griefers griefing each other, so the playerbase is stable. But if you end up with griefers and PVEgays, once the PVEgays leave the game loses it's income and griefers lose their content.
would New World have been a success if it stayed pvp focused?
Big maybe, no one in New World's alpha did fair PVP, it was all ganking and griefing. Maybe it could have formed a niche like EVE and Albion, but who knows.
Yes because that's what it orginally was supposed to be until PvE focused playtesters ruined it.
This is correct. These games all get into the same pitfalls.
What eve&albion did different is have tiered zones with different security. Carebears have a safespace they can just never leave.
PvP is basically part of the game and you have to work in order to avoid it.
eve does the best “full loss” pvp because everything youre losing is easily replaceable
of course nobody wants to pvp in a full loss system when they’re risking some gear they killed a dragon 50 times to get
when you die in eve you can be back in the exact same “gear” you just lost in literally 30 seconds
mass production, relatively cheap but effective gear thats constantly being destroyed is vital for a full loot pvp system to function
if youre a pve gay you can hire pvp gays to guard your caravan. player made problem have player made solutions
That's a waste of time, you'll hire people and just get ganked instead.
First of darkfall lasted more than 2 years (dont remember accurate)
Secondary the people i mentioned stayed longer than me in the game. I would never farm, i would rather bot and risk my account but the farmer type is a real thing.
>First of darkfall lasted more than 2 years (dont remember accurate)
Not with much of a playerbase, no.
> These games are doomed to failure because doing a repetitive action for fricking hours isn't fun
So why is OSRS one of the biggest MMOs in the world?
10/10 quests and world with very little filler garbage.
it isn't, it's free and runs on a phone so third worlders and autistic people bot it while occasionally tabbing over from youtube or netflix but nobody actually plays it because it's dogshit
At least half of OSRS are bots.
>These "I want to be a farmer! I want to be a miner!" delusions only work on paper
I've only seen Mabinogi do these well because you have to r1 life skills if you want more stats.
That was NexusTK, the English version is specifically RP-centric compared to the Korean version.
Meant for
I played Darkages which is a sister-game to that.
You people have made up scenarios in your head of how you think these kinds of games work
Explain your understanding of how it works then.
If they do it like Archeage, then tons of people are gonna want to participate in it.
Not necessarily. SWG pulled it off pretty well before they decided to change focus; Nearly the entire economy was player run.
that was over 15 years ago anon.
Times have changed. People don't put in effort anymore unless it's to monopolize and be a big name youtuber.
Puzzle pirates was the absolute goat of player run economy games, it can be done well.
Not in 2023. It'd just be Streamer cliques.
Seems to be the only decent budget upcoming MMO that has PvP in a meaningful way beyond instanced garbage.
>it's only real PVP when against defenseless casuals
Yes.
One of the ways you will have to move mass amounts of mats around will be with caravans (or the like), so now you have players incentivised to risk PvP for large gains, and players who risk evoking the game's penalizing dishonor system by instigating PvP to take those gains
Not blue protocol?
I know you're probably joking, but Blue Protocol is pure PvE. There's not even arena PvP.
who cares about pvp
Me. I won't play an MMO without open-world PvP and territory control. No fun in an MMO if there's no risk/danger in the open-world. AI mobs don't pose a threat in any MMO.
This is the dumbest mind set and a fast way to kill your new mmo.
>waah, why does this person not enjoy games the same way I do!!!!
Shut the frick up, moron.
new world bombed
Yeah, no shit, New World was garbage? But New World was a PvE Themepark, not what I like.
>Running around the world, interacting with players, gathering, PvEing, PvPing
Let me translate your bullshit.
>Camping low-level areas, teabagging unaware players, ambushing resource nodes, griefing quest npcs, ganking unaware players
Maybe get a job and find real life challenges instead of trying to larp as some arbiter of content and justice.
lel, oh no?
empty sandbox with one arena much better?
I mean Blue Protocol isn't even an MMO. There is literally no official marketing from them in the past year+ that call it an MMO. Not their Twitter, Instagram, website, press releases, no where call it an MMO. The open-world can also only have 30 people in 1 area. That is not an MMO.
No one wants to be a fricking farmer online and have what is essentially a second job. It's wild that there are morons who ever thought that this was a fun idea.
Enough MMO players keep running the same dungeon 10 hours every day to powerlevel.
Yeah, but MMOs are in decline for a reason. Everyone has been realizing that doing that is entirely pointless.
Randomly generated overland and dungeons, why no one does that?
>Every week, overland and dungeon layouts get "shuffled"
No one has managed to pull it off well as far as I'm aware. What could be a game-changer in MMOs is AI dynamically creating content, but that's still years ahead.
What I found interesting in Trackmania 2020 is that there is a "Track of the Day", which is made by a player and subjected to a mostly automated review process by other players. People actually spend hundreds of hours on tracks for the honor of having the track of the day and there's a daily competition around it.
An MMO with a decent editor could have a player-made "campaign of the week" in a similar system.
The only solution would be to close the servers after 1-2 months and tell the players to come back, when the next campaign is ready.
>endless MMOs
The problem is more like "same layout with bigger numbers each run".
Actually that's what I want, I want the MMO to feel like a virtual world, eve comes the closest as it is but it has been completely ruined with p2w and the gameplay isn't very fun.
Its like they want to play this role in a game. What could we call this kind of genre that allows such behavior?
*never comes out*

Never did get why folks try to force PvP in mmos, you better off playing something like chivalry 2
Give me non-MOBA combat Albion, that's all I want.
>release
lol
You can't carebear in Albion. You can't earn a realistic income without delving into the black zone.
God I love everything about Albion except for the core combat, which is obviously a dealbreaker.
>Oh boy I can't wait to play this game and run my own little town
>What the frick why is are all the land and titles taken by some group of sweaty 24/7 no life nerds
>Hello evening player, don't forget to pay your taxes to our guild in order to access the quest board
And what the frick can measure your skill in an MMO? God you're autistic
the quality of your sheeps' wool
being good at combat like in an real action rpg?
..that the no life autists would always be better than people who put only 1 hour daily into the game.
Thank god I gave up on mmo's. You can play your working simulators alone.
Job MMOs basically died anyway outside of Runescape and FF XI.
But at least it was ambitious.
hell yeah I've always wanted to be a farmcuck and play house in video game world
oh wait no I haven't
>Ashes of Creation Shows Player-Run Village
Did the person that wrote that article even watch the video? They specifically state that you can't build mini-villages with the Freehold system because there's a minimum of 150m gap between Freeholds.
>made by a gay israelite
nope, it won't
Why the frick would I spend time farming tomatoes in a game when I already do it in real life?
This is the main flaw with crafting in these MMOs, there is endgame to it. Especially in hardcore PvP games where items are going to have to be disposable to a big extent, no one gives a shit about someone being a renowned blacksmith, for instance.
cause you find easy mode relaxing.
i know literally farmer playing farm simulator for this reason.
Frick Rickjames and their real estate trade guild. I'm still salty.
You could steal in archeage, what are you talking about? Way i remember it you had to hide your plot as good as possible hoping nobody finds it.
Was fun.
Planting without a plot was just setting yourself for frustration and preparing your anus to lose your thunderstruck trees.
That wasnt the biggest problem in Archeage, the first Patch was great and had a big population of players. It really only died with the patches introducing extremely grindy but neccessary gear upgrades, and pay to win tier rerolling, that created an impossibly large powergap between chars
> you were at the mercy of other players who had full control of the market
Man, capitalism, amirite
>Player-driven
More like Bot- and Neet-driven content. Shit likes this is fun for the first two or three months but once the bots and hyper autists take over, you can forget your "participation" as a normal player.
>their are people still waiting on AoC
It’s been like 7 years guys, don’t get your hope up on it even coming out.
They're usually barren worlds with copypasted mobs running around, it's almost all data entry for quests and items
it quite literally is the last hope for MMOs they've been working on it forever. If it dies within a week the entire genre has no future.
I don't trust devs who just use UE's base overly-contrasty postprocessing as is rather than having the sense to tweak it to make the game actually look nice.
>player run
I can see the game failing from a mile away
You just kinda walk up to your plot and you can click your animals for resources, etc. You don't need other players to do these things for you and you dont do it for hours, at least thats what I gathered from the vid
Whoa! It's real! Totally not bullshots and lies!!!!! !!!
Sandbox MMOs can't work because they inevitably end up being dominated by a select few neet sociopaths who are 10x better at ruining the game for 99% of the playerbase than even the worst of MMO devs.
But it's more realistic that way.
waste of life neets dont run the country tho
You can't be a neet and a politician at the same time by definition. But there are sociopaths who want nothing but more and more power.
Mabinogi did pretty good for a sandbox. Shame it became shit over the years.
>mmo
it's gonna be doa no matter what it does
Like crowfall, this will flop.
>"LOOK AT ALL THE RACES YOU CAN BE!"
>"yeah you can't be this or that because they're not meta"
>Combat in general is more cluttered than GW2 boonstacking
Didn't they close the servers by now? They didn't even drum up the presses for their full release and killed their own game more or less by being quiet.
Because they had no clue what they were doing, ran out of money, and the final release was a pile of half-baked dogshit.
I'm not playing your boomer-inspired trash, old man
PVP MMOs don't work anymore.
Mmos aren’t dead and no idea why people keep saying this, is it because your favorite mmo is dead/dying?
FF XIV is also unique because it has
>a massive RP community, maybe one of the biggest of currently running MMOs
>a massive PVE community that would normally never touch an MMO
>Because there's only like 3 major MMOs in development right now
>Blizzard survival game (Semi-MMO ala Rust/Ark, hundreds of players per server)[2024/2025]

That’s hot trash best to remove that from the list but it is a “major” mmo coming out.
Now remove all the asian MMOs which will be blatant cashgrabs designed to die in 2-3 years. Also i've played Wayfinder, it is not even remotely a fricking MMO, you will probably have to remove a few more games on that list
>wayfinder
>not a mmo
Huh?
>Wayfinder
>an mmo
Huh?
See i can do it too homosexual. It's literally just a co-op action game with unlockable characters and a hub you Black person.
It’s still a mmo just because you got some moronic idea on how mmos should be.
It's not an mmo just because you got some moronic idea on what an mmo is
I see so you’re just going be a Black person. Enjoy your last (you).
Nta, but every asian MMO should be disregarded. The only exception was RO and that shit its dead since a decade.
>Also i've played Wayfinder, it is not even remotely a fricking MMO
It's apparently a weird mix. There's open areas and hubs with 100 players. If people call Genshin, Tower of Fantasy, etc. MMOs, then Wayfinder can be called one too.
NTA but only morons called genshin impact a mmo and isn’t tower of fantasy a open world mmo? I haven’t looked into it deeply but heard it was a mmo.
>and isn’t tower of fantasy a open world mmo?
Nope. 50 players per channel. Only 30 on screen at a time.
Yea when I think of mmos I think at minimum 100+ people can interact on one screen at the same time.
They will probably say none of them count or never heard of a majority of them. I’m honestly waiting on wayfinder, blue protocol, and project D
survival game
You mean the one that has been scrapped and is being retooled into a Tarkov style extraction game?
>Ghostcrawler+Holinka unannounced MMO
You mean the guy that just left Riot like 5 months ago and the guy that just left Blizzrd like 2 months ago? lmao
>Throne and Liberty
>>KMMO being published by NCSoft and Amazon Games
lol
lmao even
I'm not going to bother with the rest of your list. If the top three MMOs you could think off of your dome without having to google them is a Survival game that was never an MMO, a game that isn't even announced by a company that didn't exist likfe 4 months ago, and the next AmazonGames failure then all you're doing is proving my point for me.
>That's not a thing that has happened
lmao. wait until this years blizzcon when they fully announce the game.
protip from someone that has friends that quite literally work at blizzard, on that project - the game you're thinking of was scrapped and they're replacing it with an extraction looter style game.
yes, I actually have a friend that works on it, no it's not a "my dad works at nintendo", no i don't care if you believe me or not.
>In March 2023 he left Riot. Are you on some sort of drugs?
Alright, I got the companies mixed up. Doesn't change the fact that both major players that you mentioned were working at other companies up until a few months ago, and any game - let alone an MMO that they're planning on doing for a studio that may or may not even exist right now - is still about a decade down the line.
>protip from someone that has friends that quite literally work at blizzard, on that project - the game you're thinking of was scrapped and they're replacing it with an extraction looter style game.
>yes, I actually have a friend that works on it, no it's not a "my dad works at nintendo", no i don't care if you believe me or not.
It will be a "live service" type of game where they have seasonal resets and there will be battlepasses.
>posts a 2 year old out of date PR blurb as "proof"
lol
lmao even
here's the thing frickwit. my buddy that works at blizzard has been my buddy for 20+ years. i trust him and what he's told me far more than whatever some random idiot on Ganker is trying to tell me. unless you post your legitimate blizzard work ID - go ahead and blur or remove whatever info you need to - then you're nothing more than a homosexual. bottom line.
>here's the thing frickwit. my buddy that works at blizzard has been my buddy for 20+ years. i trust him
If you are actually 100% serious and you aren't trolling, then your friend is lying to you. I don't know why he would do that, but Odyssey has not been turned into a fricking Escape from Tarkov game.
>unless you post your legitimate blizzard work ID - go ahead and blur or remove whatever info you need to - then you're nothing more than a homosexual. bottom line.
I wish I could see your face in November when you find out that your friend has been lying to you, for whatever reason, and that Odyssey is not at all a Tarkov-styled game in any way.
>that list of pure, undiluted shit of games
holy frick
>every single MMO in development is pure, undiluted shit
>have I played a single one of them? no.
>then how do I know? it came to me in a dream.
>Is this WoW clone #2598 or WoW clone #2583 any good
You don't need to play them to know they are not.
Go through the list and point out which ones you think will be WoW clones.
Now post one that's actually good.
See
You’re factually wrong, mmos have lulls but they never out right die out. At least FFXIV isn’t and I see new players everyday.
These people have no clue how dwarfed WoW revenue is compared to Maplestory. Yet they cope that their game is the best MMORPG.
>Pre-China EoS WoW, Maple and DFO are the biggest MMO moneymakers
>they cope that their game is the best MMORPG.
Those three games rely on people selling tokens, cubes and packages to one another, how does that make them "the best MMOs"?
>BDO
>unpopular
What are you smoking?
nobody fricking plays bdo outside of a handful of moronic coomers anymore anon
I'd legit be surprised if the game had 5k players left
>source?
>Blizzard told me to say it!
Yeah, very MMOish, which is why it's always in danger of running out of victims.
more likely that anon is referring to the seamless multiplayer mod. The UI and lag isnt there yet but it looks p fun
Do you even know what mmos even mean? What do you even want from a mmo?
>YUO CAN DO ANYTHING!!!!!!
>*you can't do anything*
Never falling for this grift again
yes and?
Wow!
Is it still a thing? used to play it years ago.
sorta
original 2d version is on life support and devs now moved to salem
The LoL MMO is likely going to be a WoW clone. I wouldn't get my hopes up.
What's wrong with that?
MMO design was already perfected and solved with early Archeage. It had perfect content for both PvP and PvE players. Of course the game went P2W daily-quest based trash few weeks after release.
Just copy beta phase Archeage and you've got your perfect MMO. I wonder why nobody does this.
Because you probably didn't play it otherwise you'd know the base game is exactly the same as every other shit mmo with shit quests, shit combat and a shit world. The only reason the game ever had any popularity to begin with was that non-instanced housing and sailing were novelties back then.
Aaron bartholomew is a onions gobbling homosexual. I know you’re in here
Imagine thinking that a vaporware mmo where the only selling point is
>You can be a fricking NPC
Is saving anything
*saves MMOs*
Feel like they should have just made mabinogi 2
Anon that is how the game dies, asking people to abandon 20 years of their stuff + game content. It happened with Maplestory 2.
this is just black desert online
I've tried several times to get into BDO because I can't avoid hearing about how it's good. I always get filtered in the first few quests because I hate the UI and engrish feel, when does it get good?
It doesn't
what MMO is good when you just start it? absolutely none, all of them are complete trash until you put 10 hours in them slogging through quests
>all of them are complete trash until you put 10 hours in them slogging through quests
They're still trash after that.
>what MMO is good when you just start it?
Vanilla WoW was amazing from level 1.
It wasn't, it only felt that way because it was your first MMO.
I had already played Everquest, DAoC, Lineage 2, Runescape, MapleStory and Shadowbane before I played WoW.
There's no rose tinted glasses. The way Blizzard presented WoW from the get-go was amazing. Why do you think it managed to become such a huge success compared to all other MMOs?
>Why do you think it managed to become such a huge success compared to all other MMOs?
Pure luck, it was at the right place at the right time.
>Pure luck, it was at the right place at the right time.
>WoW players when you can press W and walk forward
It was more in reference to how you were able to play something like a melee and you could actually continually circlestrafe while never missing any attacks, you could turn on a dime, you could jump while in combat, as soon as you hit a button it would INSTANTLY happen, etc. etc.
You wouldn't understand it if you weren't there for older MMOs which were a gigantic slugfest both in terms of visuals, but also underlying mechanics, including piss poor lag compensation and netcodes.
>Why do you think it managed to become such a huge success compared to all other MMOs?
Because it was uber casual goyslop built from a beloved IP and filled with pop culture references?
uber casual as in wasn't designed moronicly via a bunch of experimentation and elitist pandering? then yea
Take them rose tinted glasses off bro
Original release Secret Wars.
Book of travels unironically
That's still up? The visuals and music were gorgeous, but there was too little player interaction for me.
Bdo has nice combat but everything else is hot trash.
>the best open world of all MMO's
>rare items are actually fricking rare
>pvp has insane skill ceiling
>nearly every NPC you can interact with has a backstory of their own
>being a full time lifeskiller is more than viable and you can play the game without doing any combat
>most in-depth mount system
I'm so glad that this game filters morons on Ganker so much because it's not like WoW
Bdo is a endless grinding simulator that looks pretty. It will always be trash because it’s a Korean mmo trash game and I’m honestly surprised it’s still alive.
>n-no
Like I said, glad you got filtered. And it's a fricking MMO, of fricking course there will be grinding. Why do zoomers except to play an MMORPG and do zero grinding?
People still fall for those Redditors seething about the game
theres a big gap between 0 and infnite
>>n-no
You didn't respond to anything he said except the grinding point, and you straw manned him on that.
Any MMO that has the KMMO style grinding on weapon upgrades and limited energy to do trade skills that slowly replenishes over time (or you can buy to skip) aren't worth your time regardless of how "good" it gets at the end game.
good to know that it's like that, Lost Ark left a sour taste and BDO gave that same feel
Good luck gathering without tent, not having 5 premium pets or picking up shit from the ground without extra paid capacity
>they give out pets like free candy
>tent I can give you, put that's one time 30 dollar (or 15 if you buy pearls on sale).
What more is it that you need to spend 200 bucks on? Outfit they give away like every month and is super easy to buy on the marketplace.
Non of the premium subs are needed and I've played without one for years now.
>you don't have to pay $200 at all if you want to start
>you just have to wait months until they give it to you, maybe, I guess?
yeah sure
>500 hours
>thinking he needed the absolute best pets
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO, homie you didn't even touch high end grind
of course I didn't
I barely touched the game because it was playing in the background all the fricking time
that's the entire "gameplay"
I'm so glad that this game filters WoWbabbies so much
same, tried to get into it twice, a ninja then a musa and I stopped around lvl 50 both time
that game feels like an internet browser full of adwares and searchbars in MMO form, dozens of constantly blinking icons on your screen, items to retrieve so they can quickly fill your tiny inventory space and you don't know their uses or their value, stupid mini games to play etc... easily the least new player friendly big MMO on the market outside of autism simulators like EVE
I'd much rather have a normal game with a simulated "massively" aspect at this point where I can trive at my own pace.
if ur gonna advertise the game, why not link the video?
It's hilarious how BDO has pretty much everything someone wants from an MMO yet people still only talk about WoW and XIV
BDO is press "next" simulator
BDO is a KMMO with KMMO trappings.
It could be the best game in the world, as long as it has those KMMO trappings in it, it's not worth anyones times.
No one cares about your opinion, autist that only played wow his whole life
lmao
i started with UO
played EQ for a bit until DAoC came out
played that until TOA ruined it and switched over to wow for literally 1 month before dropping it in favor of FF11. kept that until LOTRO came out, went from that to Warhammer online, to AION, to EQ2, to DCUO, to Rift, to Secret World, to SWTOR, to FF14, to New World, and at this point I've completely given up on the genre.
Makes sense I guess.
>look at all these non KMMO's I've played!
So you have zero experience or knowledge about KMMO¨s`?
Aion is a KMMO
Also just beacuse I didn't autistically list every single MMO I've ever played doesn't mean I never played them. I put hours into L2, into Vindicus, into Lost Ark, into BDO, into Archeage.
Thats how I know KMMOs are all the same dogshit RNG simulators that rely on MTX shops to bypass upgrade failures. They might have slightly better core gameplay then western MMOs, but it's not worth it in the face of the high end gearing systems in place.
What goalpost are you going to move this time to try to discredit me?
not that anon but you don't need to worry about proving KMMOS have garbage itemization, we all know
homie said slightly
lmao, there isn't a western mmo with good combat or the same amount of content as a korean mmo
All the content in the world is irrelevant when your actual gearing process relies on purchasing MTX items to avoid impurities in upgrades.
unless you post your legitimate blizzard work ID - go ahead and blur or remove whatever info you need to - then you're nothing more than a homosexual. bottom line.
MTX MTX MTX ! You sound like such an insufferable moron that doesn't know shit about any MMOs other than western shit
>unironically defending the upgrading systems and use of MTX in KMMOS
lol
lmao even
>probably plays genshit
you types are the worst "game is so good!" "so much content/exploration!" its a game second and a vending machine first
>yeah I've played those KMMO's for a few hours and this is why the endgame of these KMMO's are bad!
Really?
Whatever you say bud, keep defending those dogshit games.
So you actually have zero experience with the endgame of those game and are talking out of your ass?
I feel like a lot of folks who shit on Black Desert are operating on outdated info. There's still a few KMMO trappings but holy crap Pearl Abyss has turned the game around from the shitshow that the game originally launched with while Kakao was publishing it. There's a LOT of free or easier paths to endgame that (while requiring a bit of a time investment) make things so much easier. Add in things like Magnus, Jetina's Gear and pity Infinite potions and you'll always have something to do.
these autists played BDO when awakening didn't even exist and probably still think pets are something you need to absolutely buy
Yep. I played since CBT2 if my memory serves. The game is vastly different from what it used to be.
I played BDO for one month, got three characters to max level and regret every second I spent on it. Everything is so fricking pointless.
>Farm so you can donate resources to your favorite streamer who has been elected mayor for the past year, giving him exclusive access to a flying mount
Yeah, sounds great.
>playing on streamer server
I might just do it, if anything it's more interesting as a solo player to see what moronic shit happens as a result. anyone looking for a real community can avoid these servers tho (I assume, game isnt out yet yada yada)
uh...you mean I ACTUALLY need to grind in an MMO? Yikes, this game is trash. Why can't I get carried in raids then hope RNG gives me what I want?
Ashes feels like it's been "almost releasing" for 5 years now.
why is it so hard for game devs to just release completed games in a reasonable amount of time
why is your homework always late?
incoherent bot reply
Go to bread
Gotta' milk the kickstarter funds.
Is it anywhere close to release? Or is it yet another high-concept MMO that'll never see the light of day?
Why are people calling Steven a scamming israelite? What am I missing? He seems like a multi millionaire nerd who's making his favorite game.
You don't understand Anon, Steven is SELLING cosmetics for a game that's been in development for YEARS
>people are GIVING their money towards something that doesn't even exist!
so? it's their money
Black desert has more viewers on Twitch than WoW.
>Black desert has more viewers on Twitch than WoW.
Why lie about something that can be checked in 10 seconds?
>posts right after official WoW channel started streaming
It has more viewers when there's no offical tournament or whatever going on in WoW
The official channel has 10k viewers. Even removing those, it would still be above BDO.
Why the frick does twitch veiws matter? Games with millions of players has horrible twitch views
Is black desert still p2w?
Yo, I just spent twenty hours mining ore, time for brotherman to get his cut so he can have a good stream.
>actually saves MMOs in your path
>cluster frick
to this day monster hunter has done it better and that's fricking sad
People play Battlebit, they crave the clusterfrick
enough, i just want to play games, not manage them
You don't have to participate in any of the crafting stuff in Ashes of Creation, just join a guild and get the casual noobs to do it for you.
Stop trying to save MMOs and let the genre die so that something can rise from its ashes
if you think this game is legit i have a few NFT's and metaverse plots of lands to sell you
Go ahead and attempt to explain how it's not legit, when people have literally played the alphas, and we see monthly dev blogs with full-on gameplay, and a realistic amount of progress being made.
>slave away at work for 8 hours
>get home
>slave away in a virtual village for 8 hours that you're probably going to be paying monthly for, not to mention the upfront cost of buying the game (70 bucks+++)
T-thanks
ARBEIT MACHT FREI
This game will never actually release, bet on it.
The game is already fully funded in advance for the goals they have for the game, so it will release eventually.
How many times do you have to be shown that these types of kickstarter games pretty much always end up being scams? They'll keep dragging people along with development at a snails pace until people just forget about it.
Where's the scam if the CEO has already said multiple times that the game is already fully funded and they don't need any more money to complete the game?
Ok anon, maybe in 2033 you'll finally get a chance to play a 2-hour closed beta of this banger.
1) Many people, including streamers and content creators, have already played the alpha
2) Going by the progress they have been making, it's not gonna be 2033, but it might take another 4-5 years. But like I said, the game is fully funded, and I don't mind waiting.
>paid shills are the only ones allowed to play it and they say it's good!
Biggest redflag
Anyone who bought into the alpha could play, ya dingus. Also, a lot of the content creators were critical of several things, which the CEO agreed with them on. I don't know why you have such a weird obsession with this game when you clearly have no actual idea about it.
Isn't this game just a streamer bait game in which only the streamers will be allowed to have fun?
So what is preferable?
Western type of itemization
>all your gear and hard work become obsolete in every 4 months when a new raid tier is out
>the instant the patch hits all the hard work you've put into to get the gear is gone
asiatic type of itemization
>Gear you get will always be useful somehow, but the grind is nearly endless. If you get an endgame item it will stay an endgame item all the time
asiatic is vastly preferred
Another option: do it like Albion Online where gear is lost and then you have to have a steady resupply of gear, which keeps the economy rolling through crafting/gathering/trading/etc.
FFXIV does western but gear lasts way longer so I’m fine with that . Plus you can just make crafted gear and no need to have the best gear
>FFXIV does western but gear lasts way longer
That's only because in FFXIV it goes like 8 months without new content.
Define content
You clearly have no ducking idea what the game is about because I just listed two other things that are content that has way more players
>trolls gold sellers bots gonna be rampant etc
right that down!
Wow, they invented Wurm Online!
I'm going to enjoy this game when it comes out in 10years
>a game which is a literal early access scam, designed to never release
lmao
See
Then why the frick are they still selling 75 fricking dollars at minimum preorder packs?
>the CEO said a thing
Don't be a moron anon, scam citizen CEO said there would be a game too
>Then why the frick are they still selling 75 fricking dollars at minimum preorder packs?
Are you UNIRONICALLY advocating for a company to stop accepting money, when their fanbase/consumers want to throw money at them? Please explain the logic or rationale behind why any CEO would ever do that.
I am not advocating for anything moron, I said the game is a scam that will never come out, no matter what the CEO says.
>I said the game is a scam that will never come out, no matter what the CEO says
Did this vision come to you in a dream? Is that how you are able to see the future?
You have to be fricking trolling, there is no way you're this naive.
>preorders going on since over 5 years
>game is still in pre-alpha
Come the frick on man. Wasn't star citizen enough?
If you actually followed AoC, you'd see that they are making solid, albeit slow, progress every month. The fact that they are openly showing their progress like this + the fact that they are already fully funded(with the CEO himself also putting in $40 million) makes me 99.99% sure that the game will release.
Anon, that's just embarassing.
>zero arguments or retorts
We can have an honest discussion about the game, or you can revert into being moronic schizos who are screaming "IT'S A SCAM, IT'S A SCAM". Which one do you pick?
>The dev himself said the game is going to be awesome and the next best thing since sliced bread
We've already rebutted these points over and over again
I have not made any claim like that at all. Now you are literally just conjuring things up in your schizo mind. I said the CEO has officially stated that the game is fully funded and doesn't need any more money, and that he has put $40 million his own money into the game. That's all I said.
>5 years long preorder and still going when the game is in pre-alpha
If that's not an argument for you, then you're the target audience for this game.
Anon MMOs take like 5-8 years to make. ESO started production in fricking 2007 and didn't release until 2014.
And for how many years did it accept 75$ up to 500$ preorders while it was still in an unplayable state?
I don't think you know this, but ESO had the publisher backing of Zenimax.
How does that relate to asking couple hundred dollars for a game which doesn't exist?
Do you have any idea how long it takes for video games to be made, especially MMOs? Even completely established studios with 200-300 man teams and $100-200 million dollars will still take like 6-8 years to make a fully fledged MMO.
i think saying "it's a scam" is an honest discussion. how many kickstarting mmos actually came out and is a decent product? albion online is the only one i can think of
>i think saying "it's a scam" is an honest discussion
Provide an in-depth explanation for exactly how it's a scam then. Don't say moronic shit like "they never plan on releasing" because that's literally just a schizo theory, especially when you can go look up how the CEO himself invested $40 million into the studio and the game.
>how many kickstarting mmos actually came out and is a decent product?
KS games that release and are shit, does not mean that they are scams. It just means that the devs were incompetent.
>Provide an in-depth explanation for exactly how it's a scam then
why do i need to provide anything? mmo fans are the biggest slop enjoyers. anything i say you won't listen because you crave for another dopamine game. a gambling addict
>why do i need to provide anything?
If you make a claim, you need to be able to back it up if someone asks you to do so. That's how normal human conversations work.
>anything i say you won't listen
I have literally been listening to you and replying to you with actual honest discussion. You are the one who has continued to dodge my question multiple times, but I will ask it again. Can you provide any kind of in-depth explanation for why you genuinely think it's a scam?
>If you make a claim, you need to be able to back it up if someone asks you to do so. That's how normal human conversations work.
my claim is how many actual crowfunded game actually came out and is a decent product? 0.
>I have literally been listening to you and replying to you with actual honest discussion. You are the one who has continued to dodge my question multiple times, but I will ask it again. Can you provide any kind of in-depth explanation for why you genuinely think it's a scam?

Just to name a few from some Google searches.
They probably haven’t heard of any of those games
Albion wasn't crowdfunded.
>Albion wasn't crowdfunded.
oh i swore i seen a kick-starting page years before it was released years ago
They sold "founderpacks" on their own website but it wasn't a crowd-funding campaign.
How much are you getting paid to shill this game here?
>mmo that isn't out yet is the best mmo ever
Never heard this one before. I'm sure this time it's different.
scam Black folk are just either battered wife syndrome or shitposting, they have more in game footage than any major release and scams usually have 0
I dont trust a single fricking thing about AoC.
>Promises the world
>You can do anything
>Everything is dynamic
>Has countless supporter packs for a game that isnt even out
>Will probably be in development for 10 more years because any miniscule feature they can think of needs to get added first
>Will probably go bankrupt, if it isnt a scam, before it even launches and maybe sold to another studio
>You can do anything
What the frick are you on about? They have said the opposite of this. They have laid out exactly what you can do and how things function. Every single feature in the game is just a copy/paste of other features from other games. Nothing in this game is something crazy or new.
>Will probably go bankrupt, if it isnt a scam, before it even launches and maybe sold to another studio
They are fully funded and have more than enough money to complete the game.
Is that why they told you? Then why are they still accepting money?
>Is that why they told you?
That's what the CEO has stated multiple times, openly in public.
>Then why are they still accepting money?
Why would they NOT accept more money, if people want to throw their money at them?
Something about this feels like a scam. I think it's because of the CEO
Any game that panders to streamers are going to fail, the game being an MMORPG makes this even worse.
Using streamers to market your game and balance the game around is the biggest redflag.
AoC panders to streamers?
The fricking lead dev streams the game playing with the big streamers and listens to their feedback how to make the game "better"
>*Saves MMOs*
Now show the monetization system.
Protip, this isn't saving MMOs.
>feudalism simulator
Why would I want to be a moronic shit-eating peasant? These games don't work unless you're a german that enjoys wageslave simulators.
Ok then become the king of a node with a castle, and have the peasantry defend your kingdom from demon invasions and pvp?
>just become king bro
yeah as i said, these games don't work because 90% of the playerbase is not allowed to have fun
ngmi + filtered
a game that can't function unless most of the playerbase is a slave to 10% of the playerbase is a bad gsme and will die once people realize that they aren't going to be the king
You're the one that cannot be satisfied by comfy gameplay and instead are a zoomerfied Black person
>a game that can't function unless most of the playerbase is a slave to 10% of the playerbase
1) What exactly makes you think that AoC is like this?
2) Even if it was, are you completely unaware that there's TONS of people out there who love doing shit like that?
the dude has main-character syndrome
Is the dev of the game actually in this game shilling this piece of shit? Or is it a paid pajeet?
Make that 99%, the entire game is created to pander streamers
>Why would I want to be a moronic shit-eating peasant?
Literally just join a guild where you can have 100 morons doing all of that for you.
>he thinks he's a temporarily embarrassed noble
everyone thinks that
I have previous experience raid leading in PvE and calling shots for PvP. I will easily become an officer in some sort of guild and have several hundred people below me feeding me gear and mats.
and then everyone below you will quit because they're not having fun
Not my problem.
>Why would I feed you gear unless you're a big cool streamer?
Because without me you'll have the entire guild running around like headless chickens in PvE and PvP, resulting in no loot and no territorial control.
>Because without me you'll have the entire guild running around like headless chickens in PvE and PvP, resulting in no loot and no territorial control.
But why join your guild when I can join the cool streamer guild with some proper authority figure?
Because my guild will be fair. A streamer's guild will never be fair, since it's basically just a fan club with a dictator.
And so will streamer guild nr#312, you don't have any USP or shtick making me want to join your guild over a streamers.
My shtick is that my guild will be a top 3 guild, not #312
>I will make my own guild having all the peasants feed me gear!
>How? By being fair
????????????
Yeah, your guild is totally going to compete with the big streamers guilds that will have ten of thousands of people working for them.
>????????????
I meant that there will be people whose entirely purpose in the guild is to craft gear and supply everyone. There's tons of people who love doing shit like that.
>ten of thousands of people working for them
I won't be playing on a streamer server, so it's a non-issue.
>There's tons of people who love doing shit like that
Yes, and they're a small minority, not 90% of a game's playerbase.
Have you actually played games like UO, Shadowbane, SWG, Darkfall, EVE, Albion Online, etc.? Because this has never been a problem in any of these games. There's always more than enough people who enjoy doing menial shit like crafting/gathering/hunting/scouting/etc. to help carry the guild.
those games aren't slavery simulators, you can do whatever the frick you want.
>those games aren't slavery simulators
And neither is Ashes of Creation. You think people are LITERALLY just going to sit on a farm 24/7 and do nothing else? They obviously participate in everything else also, like PvE dungeons and raiding, open world PvP, guild vs guild fights, etc.
>I meant that there will be people whose entirely purpose in the guild is to craft gear and supply everyone
Yeah in exchange for gold. They don't do it for free, morons
>I won't be playing on a streamer server
Will be the only servers to exist once the game dies down after a few weeks.
>Yeah in exchange for gold. They don't do it for free, morons
Wrong. See
And all of those games are dead now because nobody enjoys doing that shit
Albion and Eve are doing just fine anon
UO, SB, SWG are dead because they are extremely dated.
Darkfall died because of ingame politics and the devs fricking around.
EVE is still alive with like ~30k concurrent daily, if I remember correctly.
Albion Online is one of the most popular MMOs currently.
You have no clue what you are talking about. None of these games died because of any crafting systems.
>EVE is still alive with like ~30k concurrent daily, if I remember correctly.
Those are bots, not players. Same with Albion
Do you have any kind of proof or evidence to back up that claim?
Play the game
So you don't have any proof. Got it.
because big streamers are bad players who attract other bad players?
WoW classic was the undeniable proof of the fact that all the big name wow streamers at least are fricking terrible at the game, at leading and at managing.
>everyone in an mmo quitting the game won't affect me
How would you have felt if you didn't eat breakfast yesterday?
>100 people in a guild quit, on a server with 30000 people
Oh no, how horrible.
29990 people will quit
Are you a streamer? Why would I feed you gear unless you're a big cool streamer?
lol. i respect the honest effort, but this doesn't seem that distinct from the modern (dead) genre. fun for 3 months, empty for 3 years, dead.
They have been making it for like a decade
The game doesn't seem fun at all, tons of convoluted systems that aren't very intuitive or interesting, the gameplay is dated and the combat looks bad. The world seems like a mishmash of random junk thrown together in a pile, with races, monsters, flora and fauna that often don't make any sense together at all.
but enough about FFXIV
Can you also pillage and rape their women?
All modern MMO players just like being on a treadmill. Anything player driven scares them because they'll have to think for themselves.
>OMG GUYS THIS MMO LOOKS SO PROMISING AND IMPRESSIVE ITS GONNA BE SO GOOD!!!
>either turns out to be a complete scam or even if it drops, its trash
I've got not idea what kinda stupid Black person you have to be to unironically soiface over "promising" MMO's in 2023.
Asmongold would never lie, this MMO looks awesome!
vaporware
are these devs pulling a Star Citizen? It feels like this thing is no close to releasing than it was 5 years ago and that's by design
>are these devs pulling a Star Citizen?
No, not even close.
>It feels like this thing is no close to releasing than it was 5 years ago and that's by design
They put out monthly videos that show pretty good progress.
>player-run village
>housing
>farming
Oh yeah this is exactly what I've been waiting for in an MMO.
..
...
....
.....
NOT
Make it so there's no actual story and it's just player-run nation-states existing and fricking each other over, then I'll buy it and participate in the social experiment.
Anon that's basically what it is. The map is sliced into nodes/zones (dozens if not hundreds) each with their own player government and cities
it'll turn into a few large guilds taking over everything like always
Really? Neat, I didn't know. I'm not gonna preorder on principle but I'm intrigued now.
I hate that they're selling shit already that's a huge red flag.
The stuff they are selling are just recolors of what you get ingame anyways
But do those who pay for it start with those things instead of having to earn it?
They have to earn an equivalent item-type and reach to a certain part of the game to get it. I.E. boat skin you have to first craft a boat which takes a long time to do and do a supplementary quest.
Well I guess that makes it better at least, still hate cash shops in games you have to pay for.
To reiterate, the skins are just recolors of stuff you get ingame anyways. The game is funded partially through Steven (the CEO) who is a billionaire, and cosmetics, and when the game eventually launches there is a sub price. However, there is no box price for the base game or expansions.
So why not skip the cash shop and just have paying customers be able to enjoy all the content and find all the skins by playing the game?
Just leaving money on the table for funding, vidya is still a business unfortunately
That's not an argument in its favor just an excuse for why it happens.
What's a red flag about that?
>KMMO
>UUOOOHHH LOOK AT THIS CHARACTER MODEL
>p2w grindfest as always
>'player'-run economies, i.e. dead within a week
why are koreans unable to create a functioning MMO ?
It's always the same garbage, which dies in weeks.
Why not try to create a functioning MMO, and keep it alive for years instead of spending millions, having to develop a new one every year ?
Why are you randomly sperging out about Korean MMOs?
>Why not try to create a functioning MMO, and keep it alive for years instead of spending millions, having to develop a new one every year ?
That's Ashes of Creation.
>why are koreans unable to create a functioning MMO ?
>koreans
are you moronic?
The fact that basically everyone ITT sees themselves as the griefing pvp players instead of the PvE farmers, when for this concept to even remotely work the ratio needs to be the exact opposite should tell you everything you need to know.
This is moronic idea for morons and I expect to never hear about this shilled game again after closing this thread.
>when for this concept to even remotely work the ratio needs to be the exact opposite should tell you everything you need to know
Objectively untrue. See
>these dead game or games with bots doing 99.9% of the farming proves otherwise
ok?
>dead game
Are a stupid Black person who is completely incapable of thinking in different time periods?
There's going to be a crypto-centric Ragnarok Online server and you can PK in MvP and mining maps. Are you ready to see another pinoy die over a GTB card?
mmogays are unironically the most pathetic segment of video game players. still clinging to this dead genre in an effort to run away from their real life problems that have almost certainly grown precisely because of the time they wasted on mmos. I know this because I used to play mmos
>player run economy and villages
>I can't wait to login after work to roleplay as a peasant and plow my fields.
Dead on arrival.
>Housing, farming
Frick no
this game was obviously going to fail from day 1
you look at all the assets, the races, mounts, landscapes, everything in the game is generic as frick.
Nah all Western fantasy games look like that. It's the same art style as stuff like BG3.
>Ashes of Creation
For anyone interested, here's what Ganker was saying about it three years ago. Has anything changed?
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/520395467
Which streamer are you going to slave for? For me, it's Asmongold.
We going to own the server DOOOOD
I'd join anything over a streamer-guild, even the cheating chinese gold farmers is an upgrade.
Intrepid founder has a MLM background. This should tell you everything about ashes and why it will never come out.
This is scam citizen lite.
>This should tell you everything about ashes and why it will never come out.
It's the opposite. He has openly said that he has used his scam money to fund this MMO because it's his dream MMO. That's why it will come out. He's a turbo sperg who used to run a guild in Archeage, then got scorned by the devs, and now he's making his own MMO.
>the CEO is SUUPER based xD
>he's actually just like us!
Whatever they're paying you, you don't deserve it. You're not doing a good job, you're too obvious.
>state facts
>WTTFFFFFF SO MANY SHILLS IN HERE WOOOOOOO WHAT IS GOING ON!?!??!
Get your head checked, schizo.
>game doesn't exist
>everyone says how amazing it will be and will conquer the MMO genre
>also spouting bullshit about how the CEO is totally /ourguy/ my fellow anons
Sure, I'm the schizo here for not believing any of this
>game doesn't exist
Really? Then how did everyone in alpha play it? Did they play something that doesn't exist?
>Years in development
>Still looks like a flipped asset Unreal Engine demo
Cant wait to play it along with Pantheon and Star Citizen
I wonder if the game will have any soul, will you get immersed into the world?
just give me the wow classic hardcore servers so I can get my fix
Is it gonna be everquest? Is it gonna be UO? What is the goal here? It can't be both. I'm sorry but the care bears who played everquest and the grogs playing uo just aren't gonna sit in the same space playing the same game. And from what I have seen since forever, sandbox pvp mmos are just dead on arrival.
That should also be the first clue that the game will be a shitshow
'YUO CAN DO ANYTHING' is a red flag so old, it stopped being used.
anyone that played ark official pvp a reasonable amount can say this garbage is doomed to fail. it’s niche garbage for the most autist of no lifers and it always suck, especially in some sort of huge mmoesque world, literally uplayable. it will be streamers guild war with their army of braindead slaves
Yeah because no one can fricking work together. It's always some fricking moronic monster screaming
>have a nice day! have a nice day!

Those goods could be transported to other cities for experience as well as money, but traders were subject to sacking, risking loss of both product and experience.
wow streamer run towns I can't wait
*Twitch channel moderator run towns
>Go into a streamer settlement with nothing valuable to annoy them
>Push their buttons to a point where they go berserk on stream with a death threat or no-no word
Isn't the game almost 10 years old and still can't play it?
>and still can't play it?
People have already played it though. They even lifted the NDA for Alpha 1. Here's some gameplay from 2021, from everyone's beloved Asmongoloid.
That was before the UE5 engine change
I was just pointing it that this whole "IT DOESN'T EXIST", "YOU CAN'T PLAY IT", "IT'S VAPORWARE", "IT'S A SCAM" thing is dumb.
>You can't have a PvP focused MMO becau-
When people use MMO to talk about games that have more than like 50 people on the same server i know it's a disingenuous arguement.
People literally mean MMO in the way GW2, OSRS/RS, WoW, FFXIV, and ESO are MMOs.
Not "Look we kept 50 people running around a small area without the server crashing.
No one would consider a large scale Minecraft server a MMO or roblox a MMO.
those are not MMOs lol
talking with people in a "hub" and then finding a group to do instanced dungeons with 3-4 other people is not an MMO
you dont know what an MMO is
rust is more of an MMO than those games
minecraft is an MMO when played on a large server
funny because nobody on earth would consider PSO not an MMO but hey nowadays it's all about being a contrarian.
PSO was an MMO because thousands connected to one server
>rust is more of an MMO than those games
You're the kind of homosexual who claims a hot dog is a sandwich. You're a contrarian and nobody wants to talk to you because your opinions are moronic.
He is kinda right though. RUST has servers that can hold like 200 people. If people count Genshit Impact, Tower of Fantasy, Blue Protocol as "MMOs" then RUST is much more of an "MMO" than those games.
who the frick counts genshit as an mmo
its a single player game with drop-in co-op
>who the frick counts genshit as an mmo
A lot of people do, because you can see other people in towns . The word has lost all meaning.
>A lot of people do, because you can see other people in towns
???????????????????????????
no you can't lmao
I never seen anyone call genshin a mmo
I was about to respond to you in earnest but I noticed you've used a derogatory portmanteau, so you're 99% likely to be controlled by one of the mind virus strains. Thanks for the effort, champ.
No one normal called genshin impact a mmo
BP is as much of an MMO as any other Korean styled garbage it just takes it one step further by fricking you in the ass with a gacha. It is not a game like Genshin Impact, I would say it is a much worse idea in practice actually.
>BP is as much of an MMO as any other Korean styled garbage
Blue Protocol has 30 players per zone/channel. 200 players in towns.
>Playing mmo’s in the year of our Lord 2020 + 3
The ship long sailed and gone years ago
I WILL police Zepla's town from you. Anything for my 50 year old queen.
Isn't this supposed to release next year or that was moved again?
Black person, games were doing that in the early 2000s. Star Wars Galaxies had all those things, stop pretending to be original, you c**ts.
Why not a single "MMO saviour" has a stylised artstyle? I fricking hate realistic graphics.
Trying to differentiate from WoW for years now. BP is anime stylized but it's dog shit. League MMO will likely be stylized though.
