Really being hyperbolic right now. There's a pretty big difference between 3 months in a shitty video game that doesn't matter at all roughly 50-70 years in the real world which actually does matter, or at least matters much more comparatively.
There is no difference between this and regular WoW where all content is made obsolete by new expansions, it's just happening at a more rapid pace. I would argue that this is better since you get to experience a more fresh meta at quicker intervals and quit when you've had your fill instead of dragging it out for well over a year.
I don't like that about regular WoW either. It's part of why I don't frick with these kinds of games anymore. I respect my own time more than I used to.
SoD is made to respect your time way more than previous iterations of WoW, other players can't just leave you in the dust if they have a lot of free time forcing you to play catch-up. There's a cap for power with each phase and it's reset every time a new phase is launched. If you really respected your time you should be cheering for these changes.

phase 2 has been okay. gnomer is fun but theres very little to do, if you skipped phase 1 and want to try phase 2 for a while you might like it but gold is inflated, numbers are very inflated and we are not even level 60.

Classic WoW can be pretty fun, I myself have had fun playing it, but Retail is better in basically every way, including community (as long as you're willing to engage with 3rd party stuff like Discord and websites to find an active guild, the in-game chat is the most dead part of the game because everyone's using Discord, not because no one's talking with each other while they play).

I haven't played SoD, but I've been watching my friends play it. It looks like a private server with absurd power creep. Every class is overpowered. It looks like the furthest thing from vanilla, the world poses no threat to the player.
It's fun for like a week or two and then it gets boring. Being overpowered and the mobs being the same as they used to be is a problem. Dungeons are a fricking joke and there's no good gear to farm from them. The cap was just raised to 40, we cleared Gnomeregan once and it's back to raidlogging.
Yeah, I seriously do not understand the point of every class getting shiny new toys if the sandbox you're given to play with them in is still designed for the old ones. It's just dumb.

Blizzard has done a few attempts to build a good classic server and it keeps falling flat. The only classic MMO rerelease that's managed to thrive is Old School Runescape and that's only because if started with a small but incredibly talented development team - it was a total moonshot that was in a nosedive that only succeeded due to being run by a perfect team. Those people don't exist at Blizzard, and if they did they would never be given the opportunity to run the game properly.
