You say that now. Give it 10 years when no-one can afford hardware.
Honestly I could see that next decade. I don’t think cloud gaming will ever take off too much outside of Xbox but that’s certainly the only place it ever could.
It’s incredulous how badly the Xbox One reveal fricked them up. It’s been over a decade and they’re still feeling the effects of it.
The PS3 was pretty much objectively the worse console compared to the 360 but it still did well which meant Xbox had to be doing every last little thing right just to stay competitive against them, and that was all it took. A big problem I guess was always Xbox’s limited appeal outside of North America
>Instead of doubling down so they can generate SOME money back the guy called an audible and shut down the project
Honestly that’s a great trait in a CEO
>Instead of doubling down so they can generate SOME money back the guy called an audible and shut down the project
Honestly that’s a great trait in a CEO
It was moronic to even greenlight that shit but whoever got it shut down made the right call, it looked like ass and it would've talked their rep further by being ass.
>Overwatch only succeeded because their girls are hot
Overwatch succeeded because it was a right place in the right time kind of game. There's a reason most of the Overwatch kids switched over to Fortnight.
>but it seemed like it could have been a decent shooter
Nah, even the news from the beta was that it was way too easy to grief players with certain attacks, maps had way too many chokepoints making it impossible for people to get around, zero-g was janky, and the guns varied wildly in quality so if you were a character with a bad gun it was awful. That's ignoring the extremely cringy dialogue being spewed from the various characters 24/7. The few reviews I saw even said they were extremely bored the entire time.
>assisted in the launch of the PlayStation >assisted in the launch of the Dreamcast
wtf are they smokin'? >ayo, lets put this new guy in charge of the israeli daycare center >what's his name? >Johann Wolfgang von Judenstampfer
what could possibly go wrong
That honestly would be the best way for them to reenter the hardware market. Nintendo has gone unchallenged and they're dragging their feet on a successor since they have no reason to push it out. Steam Deck is nice but it has no real big software made for it and it's already struggling with newer games since they don't target the deck.
Still, I don't think SEGA is willing to let that multiplat money go. And entering the hardware market without a plan to make their software exclusive and take the initial hit of low adoption rate at the start seems like something they wouldn't be willing to risk.
Looks really good to me. The new jobs like Samurai, Cowboy, or Footballer look cool. You have a segway scooter to travel faster, and combat can now be instant won like in Earthbound. Looks like there's gonna be a SHITTON of new playable party members, and everyone (except Eri) is back and playable.
I think all the romance partners (that weren't sae-chan) were in the contest. They're all played by the real life models/actresses. Eri won the playable character part.

It wasn't a fan vote, it was probably some internal vote and casting like with Gaiden's hostess thing.
Its gonna be huge and achievements show there are some for ng+ and legend. This game will last us a couple months. I cant remember the last time i looked forward to a new game. Sex with hitler maybe?
If he can somehow manage to fix the shitshow known as New Genesis I'll be genuinely surprised (knowing he's not going to be the director, but hopefully he can influence the direction for it). Also Shining Soul 3 please
I'm glad that SEGA seems to be trying some kind of redemption arc, my fear is just that maybe it's too little too late?
Will zoomers care about a new Jet Set Radio? A new Crazy Taxi? A new Shinobi? Will there be enough boomers that do? People talk about "Capcom's redemption arc", but Capcom's dip was relatively short; and their "dark years" still had games lots of people loved like Dragon's Dogma and MvC3. SEGA's glory days are way older, and how much talent does SEGA still have left?
All they need to do is make polished low budget sequel to their games instead of AAA shit.
They're never going to sell 30 million copies of a Crazy Taxi sequel.
Still mad at their god awful monkey ball remakes
>Jet Set Radio
maybe >Crazy Taxi
no >Shinobi
not really? maybe?
the profit will be small, if there's even a profit at all. but then again all these games are outsourced so they won't cost much. sega is reviving these franchises for larger exposure and to have a bigger stable than just sonic, yakuza, total war and persona
>Will zoomers care about a new Jet Set Radio?
Wasn't Bomb Rush Cyberfunk received very favorably? >A new Crazy Taxi?
No. If it's not released as a $10-20 downloadable title they're delusional. Its entire concept was used as a random minigame in Days Gone which released for free which should show you how it wouldn't work as a retail release even with a bunch of content. >A new Shinobi?
Actually yes considering people are all about sidescrollers but they need to temper their expectations for the returns.
The problem with bringing back the arcadey games is that we don't live in a world where stuff like that is super novel anymore and can shift tons of units while still asking for full retail price. People don't want to pay $60-70 for those games; downloadable games, a plethora of cheap indies, and the fact that all these games are effectively minigames in full retail games have diminished their worth significantly.
Take Ecco for example. If you wanted that to be a $60-70 game you would need to pretty much look at Maneater for examples but lean into underwater horror rather than the action and power fantasy that is Maneater. Even then Maneater dropped in price incredibly fast and that's what I would consider a modern day arcade game.
Another great example is Outrun. If the concept is kept the exact same that's a $5 digital only title released on every store with no marketing.
The only way you make those arcadey games is with price of $10-20 with a reasonable budget, a facelift graphically, with a few new mechanics, and expand where you can expand but only with what you have for a budget.
I would take them just remaking 3 at this point, because I think that game deserves to be HD and it would solve the issue of the West never officially getting it.
already some more news
https://www.sonicstadium.org/news/sega/in-organization-shake-up-sega-sammy-announces-sega-fave-division-from-arcade-and-toy-divisions-r1839/
It shows that theyre placing a priority on hocking their junk and moving management of arcade stuff to another division. Clearly they are prepping for something, probably a software blitz with their new ip revivals but i dont think its gonna stop at a few remakes
>lost sonic the movie papers >lost the ken penders papers after thinking they have the court case in the bag
Was there a very cold month at SEGA and they used legal papers to light some fires? How the frick do you lose stuff like that?
>behind the recent revivals
I hope at least 2-3 of those end up being good. Then I'll gladly board the hype train. Also, please find a way to port some Sega Saturn classics to modern devices or pay M2 to make a well-working emulator or something.
SEGA GT 2002 that came bundled with the OG Xbox is often overlooked because it was on the same disc as Jet Set Radio Future, but it's a god tier racing game.
Honestly happy to see it. Namco took some tough blows in the transition from arcades to consoles and never regained a sure footing after their landmark successes on the PlayStation. I would love to see them bounce back. Konami, too, for that matter--but Konami is already trying.
>Konami is already trying
konami remains dead to me until they go back to their shooting games
and by that I mean where's parodius 6, I've been waiting almost 30 years for a new one
homosexual, I fricking HATE KONAMI. I want to shit on all of their wife's, mother's, sisters', and daughters' veganas to give them infections.
FRICK KONAMI
At least until they treat their foreign customers with a modicum of respect.
>heavily involved in the creation of Kingdom Hearts >Project Management for Sonic Adventure
OH? Well I sincerely hope those two facts will be relevant going forward.
>We got the last consoles that actually bothered to both play normal games AND offer unique shit instead of just being a worse value PC
Oh no, how horrible
He was also around for DS. So that's three successful systems, plus early planning for the Soitch, which in turn covered up for his one blunder, the Wii U. Nice analogy fricktard
It has to tow the line between power and battery life. If its a discount Switch it'll flop. If its just another Steam Deck but with 1 hour of battery life it'll flop. Plus the console needs to have some good quality of life services that makes playing it more convenient than your phone/Switch/Deck.
Sega can NEVER be "back" because games design philosophy doesn't revolve around Arcade design anymore.
Arcades where literally the area Sega fricking DOMINATED and all their massive innovation came from. They INVENTED entire genres on arcade hardware. And their best creators all worked and earned their chops working on arcade games.
The industry has moved from the arcade philosophy and design mindset entirely it literally doesn't exist anymore so how the frick can they ever be "back"?
It's coming full circle. Arcade style design is perfect for today's ADHD riddled zoomers. Bright colors, fast gameplay, lots of bell and whistles... and monetization.
Because despite improvements since NGS's terrible launch, the current content over 2 years later is still mediocre and improvements are happening way too slowly. We still haven't left the planet in case you were wondering.
I can't really... think of any improvements, honestly. At least not to the core game. Creative spaces were neat, but they exist in their own little pocketspace so it's more like an extension of fashion whoring.
I thought they would've figured some things out with leciel's popularity, but they're on the road to make that abandoned content just like everything else.
In Japan (And by extension the rest of Asia), it can be generally considered successful, but not without its own baggage of failing to reach the highs of PSO2 when it was number one in the East.
To be fair early PSO2 in Japan was literally lightning in a bottle. It launched as the right game at the right time for Japan, it had the same trajectory that Apex has in Japan at this time. You can't recreate that success because that success was more a matter of circumstance to begin with.
>announced soft reboot update right after the game released globally, killing all momentum on their growth in the global market since players were just going to wait >replaced main dev team with their mobile division >fricked up the ngs launch in both versions killing their initial new game momentum a second time, but this time on both servers >shitty abandoned open world >monetization stuck in 2012, took over a decade to not get charged for respecing your tree still have to pay in base lamo >gear based action rpg but the gear is uninteresting, builds variation doesn't exist >gameplay loop is hit a boss, press a button to throw materials in storage, press button to delete everything else that drops that isn't a .0001% chance drop >incredibly limited content to do at any given time >main director doesn't even play the game, sub directors moved from the project or left the company >balance is fricked, one class spamming a single charge skill out damages several other classes entire kits by 20-40% >constant fixes stapled on creating a disjointed, lonely experience for new players >slow updates that rarely address the playerbase's issues >has done nothing to build player confidence with the product, by the time anyone bothered to show their face that wasn't a shield the damage was already long done
The game could be alright if the game directors weren't incompetent morons that act like it is still 2012 with no competition for loot based MMORPGs/GAS abroad or in Japan. The Division 2 has many similar parts to PSO2 does now, open world with trials/events, gear based around increasing % damage potency, instanced missions, except it isn't complete shit since there is more than one stat that matters because build variance exists and progression was actually thought out. NGS needed a massive overhaul on gear, stats and world interaction/progression and that isn't happening at this point.
ysok left sega. the producer is largely clueless how to run the game. thieir priorities are sticking to their roadmap they manipulated. they don't care about user feedback.
What kills it for me in NGS is the lack of features that encourage socialization.
Being forced to wait for all 12 players to appear and gather up for about 2 minutes before an urgent quest started in base PSO2 gave time for everyone to do funny little emotes at each other, talk, post symbol art and make friends.
NGS there is no symbol art and you are thrown into every mission and encouraged to GO GO GO SPEED UP GO FASTER RUN TO YOUR NEXT QUEST MARKET DON'T SLOW DOWN
So everyone just goes fast in the open world area and don't talk to each other. The lack of one central lobby also hurts this as players are spread throughout the different towns + blocks and may never even run into each other. Base PSO2 had really tight focused areas, you'd run into the same players at the quest counters and shops in predictable intervals due to the urgent quest/concert/event structure and meet people that way too. I made a lot of friends in base PSO2 JP AND Global but NGS is just lonely.
>assisted in launch of playstation and dreamcast >same credentials as bernie stolar
FFS. This is basically confirmation that it's true - SEGA does not like money and makes active attempts to avoid acquiring much of it.
>Your average Gamestop employee assisted in the launch of more consoles than him.
Yes, they assisted in launching Gimped Sony Machine #1, Gimped Microsoft Machine #2, and Gimmick Nintendo Machine #3
They may actually double down on the "classic" game consoles. Their Genesis rerelease actually did pretty good.
Some indie team made "Micro Mages" and it was a success because the hook was that you can play the game on an actual NES console.
If SEGA can mirror their ambitions with a AA financial backing, they can get good results too. They have an untapped hipster market yet to be exploited.
>They may actually double down on the "classic" game consoles. Their Genesis rerelease actually did pretty good.
They were audio lagging shitboxes, like all mini consoles.
Nothing will change, shareholders come first and if something is making money they'll demand the status quo gets kept. A new money puppet means nothing.
Sega is only gonna get worse, because Nintendo will keep poaching their talent with all the money they make. As Nintendo grows larger, it should be expected that other Japanese studios will suffer. There's only so much high quality talent to go around. One cant grow without hurting the others.
How much is Sega worth? I'm gonna buy 51% of shares and force them to make the next RGG game a brawler and also go back and patch LAD and IW to make them brawlers.
Also permanently can Sonic.
Alright you ESL brown skins.
Pitch your ideas on how can SEGA become profitable in this day an age.
Bear in mind you have limited resources, talent and you are NOT in the position to launch a stand alone console but you got an enormous potential given your stupid large IP pool.
My pitch: A small Spiral Knights revival for mobile devices. IP licenses for Rent so any other studio can pay to use Sega characters or make a sequel with their own pocket with just some interference from SEGA to prevent raunchy games, scams and shovelware to prevent damage to the IP.
Essentially, make your own fan game and you can pay to make it an official game. It is officially considered a spin-off to prevent main branch titles. Think of Sonic Mania in that instance or Metroid Dread. If it stick to the wall Sega can finance the sequel but if the game sucks or fails to meet expectations Sega loses nothing.
Make more than one Persona per two generations.
Make more Sonic movies.
Sonic games are only low budget 2D games like Mania giving very high ROI.
Make more Yakuza spin offs or soft reboots so normies aren't afraid of 7 games baggage.
Make exclusivity deals with Microshit for free money.
Sega is back
>check
>it's just Sammy
Oh, I look forward to more rehashed Yakuza and Sonic yay

Between Sakura Taisen, Hyenas, the huge layoffs and selling the Sega Entertainment division, Sega is too far down the gutter to be saved by a new CEO.

Why wouldn't SEGA games be on PC? They've been on the patform since the Saurn days. Remember Bug, HOTD and Virtua Cop ports?
Also sonic 3,sonic cd, comix zone, Sega rally, virtua fighter remix, virtua cop 2
Sega was always okay with licensing their games for various home computer ports, for example:

no, merely a suggestion brought about observation; mainly the witnessing of iconic series meeting their end time and time again after becoming available on PC.
This would only be a wise move if Sega made a new console which obviously is not going to happen

Several of those are not Sega-owned properties.

Just buy a fricking chromecast with googletv and plug it in your tv, costs almost nothing
Honestly I could see that next decade. I don’t think cloud gaming will ever take off too much outside of Xbox but that’s certainly the only place it ever could.
The PS3 was pretty much objectively the worse console compared to the 360 but it still did well which meant Xbox had to be doing every last little thing right just to stay competitive against them, and that was all it took. A big problem I guess was always Xbox’s limited appeal outside of North America
It’s incredulous how badly the Xbox One reveal fricked them up. It’s been over a decade and they’re still feeling the effects of it.
leaves game console business
>>Sega comes back
I would laugh
ENTER
Nah, get ready for Neo Neo Geo.
holy SOVL
If this were to happen, it would be in collaboration with Apple, using their silicon.
unironically would be for the best, sony can stay in america and japan can have ninty and sega as the console manufacturers.
Bamco has a better chance of entering the console market than nuSega
Maybe but I think they'd have a harder time selling a console than Sega. Sega has a legacy but bamco is pure publisher.
Their legacy doesn't mean anything when they left every old IP to die to focus on mediocre Sonic games. Fans moved on
If I've learned anything in my long life, no one's ever really gone.
Bandai tried with Apple to make a console once. It was called the Pippin.
>another delusional snoy
Would be Based as hell, Sega, Nintendo and Playstion back at it would be Kino
leaves game console business
>>Sega comes back
[*fixed]
>ATARI comes back again third time
now that would be the comeback of the millenium
sega kingdom hearts like will be kino
Sora in the Kid Chameleon, Alex Kidd and Altered Beast Worlds sounds amazing as frick!
>Major player behind Hyenas
it's fricked
Super Game Project doesn't mean a singular game.
Hyenas is probably why he's the new CEO.
>Instead of doubling down so they can generate SOME money back the guy called an audible and shut down the project
Honestly that’s a great trait in a CEO
It was moronic to even greenlight that shit but whoever got it shut down made the right call, it looked like ass and it would've talked their rep further by being ass.
I missed the whole Hyenas thing, but it seemed like it could have been a decent shooter, except for the fact it had ugly characters
I'm waiting for the industry to realise that Overwatch only succeeded because their girls are hot.
>Overwatch only succeeded because their girls are hot
Overwatch succeeded because it was a right place in the right time kind of game. There's a reason most of the Overwatch kids switched over to Fortnight.
I agree with that statement, but also the girls need to be hot. Every game with ugly characters will fail. I never seen one succeed
>Every game with ugly characters will fail
The GTA3 3d trilogy sold millions and non of the woman or anyone in those were remotely attractive.
add on to the fact Overwatch probably had more marketing to it than any other videogame in history.
Ads for that shit were fricking everywhere.
>but it seemed like it could have been a decent shooter
Nah, even the news from the beta was that it was way too easy to grief players with certain attacks, maps had way too many chokepoints making it impossible for people to get around, zero-g was janky, and the guns varied wildly in quality so if you were a character with a bad gun it was awful. That's ignoring the extremely cringy dialogue being spewed from the various characters 24/7. The few reviews I saw even said they were extremely bored the entire time.
Hi, new CEO of SEGA.
Just don't make Persona woke and have ESG shit in your company. And you'll be a great CEO
have a nice day
Too late
*Just don't make Persona
Here, fixed that for you.
>Sonic Adventure
This guy should be the head of all Sonic games, extremely based
>assisted in the launch of the PlayStation
>assisted in the launch of the Dreamcast
wtf are they smokin'?
>ayo, lets put this new guy in charge of the israeli daycare center
>what's his name?
>Johann Wolfgang von Judenstampfer
what could possibly go wrong
If he can give me a Sonic game with a fricking chao garden then I don't care if he makes another floppy console.
Will he give me a pc port of Condemned 2?
>portbegging
PC slave race
I'll sell my PS5 to buy the new Sega console.
I think SEGA should make their own Steam Deck type device.
The Dream Deck.
I'd buy it.
>This must be the way to the DREAM DECK
Wtf, I had this dream once where Sega did exactly this but in collaboration with valve.
That one dude who keeps making anti-deck threads would FREAK
They should make their own Steam Deck and they should also make their own Atari VCS
That could re-ignite my interest in consoles and new video games, I would be down for it.
I'd have a heart attack seeing a bug that big in my bed
>Sonic Adventure
BASE-
>Kingdom Hearts
Cringe
both are good games
Both franchises are of equal amounts of underage teenage autism bait. Stop kidding yourself.
>Assisted in the launch of PS1 and Dreamcast
Holy shit it's the Japanese Stollar himself
>but sonic is a western franchise now, those japanese purists los--ACCKKKKK
I can't say I care.
>Hey Sora, you're looking ripped, have you working out?
how's infinite wealth looking? it's probably the only game I'm looking forward to, since I enjoyed LAD so much
Looks really good to me. The new jobs like Samurai, Cowboy, or Footballer look cool. You have a segway scooter to travel faster, and combat can now be instant won like in Earthbound. Looks like there's gonna be a SHITTON of new playable party members, and everyone (except Eri) is back and playable.
>except Eri
Kusoge then.
She won a contest to be a playable character. That's why she was never in any story cutscenes and why she's technically a secret character. I
You what? Did cand
I think all the romance partners (that weren't sae-chan) were in the contest. They're all played by the real life models/actresses. Eri won the playable character part.
>the fans voted for playable Eri over playable picrel
I guess the Yakuza fandom is full of flaming homosexuals
>I guess the Yakuza fandom is full of flaming homosexuals
It wasn't a fan vote, it was probably some internal vote and casting like with Gaiden's hostess thing.
Its gonna be huge and achievements show there are some for ng+ and legend. This game will last us a couple months. I cant remember the last time i looked forward to a new game. Sex with hitler maybe?
>The alternate timeline where Ichiban was really into Final Fantasy instead of DQ
YEAH IM THINKING WERE BACK
Remove the trannies. Drain the swamp. Make SEGA great once more.
If he can somehow manage to fix the shitshow known as New Genesis I'll be genuinely surprised (knowing he's not going to be the director, but hopefully he can influence the direction for it). Also Shining Soul 3 please
Ok but what was his involvement in hyenas
>Kingdom Hearts x Sonic
Shadow confirmed to be half Xehanort
Who was the previous CEO? Whats his name and what happened to him? Was he responsible for PSO2 New Genesis Sega's flop of a MMO in 2024?
>Jet Set Radio
maybe
>Crazy Taxi
no
>Shinobi
not really? maybe?
the profit will be small, if there's even a profit at all. but then again all these games are outsourced so they won't cost much. sega is reviving these franchises for larger exposure and to have a bigger stable than just sonic, yakuza, total war and persona
Streets of Rage 4 was a big success so anything's possible.
zoomers like jet set radio type of games from what I've seen, can't say about the rest
let's see if this will be an actual redemption first
All sega needs to do is make quality sonic games. From the money they make from sonic, they can experiment with new IPs.
They can start by giving it to anyone that isn't
>Sonic Team
>nu-Dimps
>Hardlight (Crapple exclusivity bullshit)
>some AAA woke dev
The only way you make those arcadey games is with price of $10-20 with a reasonable budget, a facelift graphically, with a few new mechanics, and expand where you can expand but only with what you have for a budget.
ok cool is he gonna stop using denuvo on sega's pc games or not?
denuvo boosts sales unironically
Well, it will not boost mine, that's for sure.
I really hope this means a new valkyria chronicles but like the first one the second was not that great it was ok same with 3 but one was great.
I would take them just remaking 3 at this point, because I think that game deserves to be HD and it would solve the issue of the West never officially getting it.
Nah just continue with VC4 man.
I will always love SEGA, even when they frick up.
SEGA for life.
(SNK too.)
When will we get new infos about the revivals? Shinobi is the one I care about the most and also the one that seems closest to being finished.
already some more news
https://www.sonicstadium.org/news/sega/in-organization-shake-up-sega-sammy-announces-sega-fave-division-from-arcade-and-toy-divisions-r1839/
dumb changes that do nothing except shuffle managers
It shows that theyre placing a priority on hocking their junk and moving management of arcade stuff to another division. Clearly they are prepping for something, probably a software blitz with their new ip revivals but i dont think its gonna stop at a few remakes
There's also this
https://www.sonicstadium.org/news/media/sonic-the-movie-unavailable-for-licensing-due-to-missing-paperwork-r1831/
>lost sonic the movie papers
>lost the ken penders papers after thinking they have the court case in the bag
Was there a very cold month at SEGA and they used legal papers to light some fires? How the frick do you lose stuff like that?
Will he be the Iyoku of SEGA?
We already have movies and a new toddler show before Daima existed, Dragonkek.
PlayStation is back guys!!
DEAR SONYGODS
WE ARE SORRY ABOUT THOSE INTERNAL COMMENTS SEGA OF AMERICAN'T MADE WITH THE PSX AND SATURN

dear mr. utsumi
please make them work on actual puyo games again and stop fellating their gacha game
>Sonic Adventure

for I moment I saw Bobby Kotick in the photo
Time to cursh the competition at long last.
Hello, please fire Flynn and Iizuka.
Also bring Virtual On to modern consoles and pc.
Thx
Oh boy, i can't wait for
>Sonic Adventure Versus 2
>behind the recent revivals
I hope at least 2-3 of those end up being good. Then I'll gladly board the hype train. Also, please find a way to port some Sega Saturn classics to modern devices or pay M2 to make a well-working emulator or something.
You moron. He's the President of SoA now, not then. That's listing his previous accomplishments at SEGA.
Listed under Sonic Adventure Staff. Not under SOA. It took less than a minute to verify
Hello Utsumi-san
dreamcast 2 baby
Sega GT > Gran Turismo 2
SEGA GT 2002 that came bundled with the OG Xbox is often overlooked because it was on the same disc as Jet Set Radio Future, but it's a god tier racing game.
new sega conso -ACK!
>feb 19, 2023
Get with the times grandpa
That was then, this is now
Honestly happy to see it.
Bandai is just as shit, who cares
>heavily involved in the creation of Kingdom Hearts
>Project Management for Sonic Adventure
OH? Well I sincerely hope those two facts will be relevant going forward.
Not even kidding, fricking GIMME.
>major player in SEGA's super game project
Satoru Iwata had the same sort of credentials and through him we just got Wii, Wii U, and 3DS.
>We got the last consoles that actually bothered to both play normal games AND offer unique shit instead of just being a worse value PC
Oh no, how horrible
You mean actual fun consoles with tons of soul and unique games? Oh no.
Fricking snoy morons.
Oh nooooo, we missed out on the GameCube 2 and Nintendo pulling a SEGA in 2007.
He was also around for DS. So that's three successful systems, plus early planning for the Soitch, which in turn covered up for his one blunder, the Wii U. Nice analogy fricktard
It's over sega is finished.
New Era, New Energy X2
Cool now he needs to fire everyone at Sega of North America. That branch has been nothing but terrible for the company
as a north American I couldn't agree more.
I feel like they formed a union because they knew they were on the chopping block, and needed a way to make Sega look really bad if they got fired.
New good PSO confirmed?
We won PSO bros!
>one of the major player's of sega's super game project
this is a bad thing, hyenas was part of that
oof
we still got jet set radio and crazy taxi back
i consider it a minor setback
What should they have done with Hyenas instead? Release it and take an even fatter, stinkier shit?
Thought that was Kotick from the tumbnail
as long as he's against the push for DEI, ESG, and NFTs then I think this is fine
>assisted in the launch of PlayStation
>assisted in the launch of Dreamcast
So how about some bail money, Utsumi-sama?
Naka isn't in prison, he's just disgracefully retired.
I wonder if SEGA ever did make a new console then what approach would they have for a handheld but dockable system.
Honestly I could see them doing maybe a Steam Deck type clone system.
Whole Sega library is (basically entirely) playable
It has to tow the line between power and battery life. If its a discount Switch it'll flop. If its just another Steam Deck but with 1 hour of battery life it'll flop. Plus the console needs to have some good quality of life services that makes playing it more convenient than your phone/Switch/Deck.
Dreamcast 2 incoming.
>Dreamcast 2
You mean 3?
More like 5 by your logic.
>heavily involved in the creation of Kingdom Hearts
I'm never buying another SEGA game again.
Pretty good pedigree if all of that's true and not heavily embellished. Still not playing Sonic shit though.
I see nothing but blue skies in our future, Segabros.
Bright colors, fast gameplay, lots of bell and whistles... and monetization.
why is segas mmo flopping
Because despite improvements since NGS's terrible launch, the current content over 2 years later is still mediocre and improvements are happening way too slowly. We still haven't left the planet in case you were wondering.
I can't really... think of any improvements, honestly. At least not to the core game. Creative spaces were neat, but they exist in their own little pocketspace so it's more like an extension of fashion whoring.
I thought they would've figured some things out with leciel's popularity, but they're on the road to make that abandoned content just like everything else.
>Makes no finance sense to continue with their 2nd top selling source of F2P revenue.
Sega is run by morons but to be even more moronic than Sega you should really just have a nice day already. It's not going to get any better.
You don't get a CEO job by telling the truth to shareholders anon.
Honestly that's surprisingly good for NGS. I'd have expected way deader.
the launch was flubbed so very hard with horrible server issues and like a total of 10 hours of content
just was never able to recover
>New Phantasy Star (RPG or Online) never ever.
We are never going to get out of the planet.
>announced soft reboot update right after the game released globally, killing all momentum on their growth in the global market since players were just going to wait
>replaced main dev team with their mobile division
>fricked up the ngs launch in both versions killing their initial new game momentum a second time, but this time on both servers
>shitty abandoned open world
>monetization stuck in 2012, took over a decade to not get charged for respecing your tree still have to pay in base lamo
>gear based action rpg but the gear is uninteresting, builds variation doesn't exist
>gameplay loop is hit a boss, press a button to throw materials in storage, press button to delete everything else that drops that isn't a .0001% chance drop
>incredibly limited content to do at any given time
>main director doesn't even play the game, sub directors moved from the project or left the company
>balance is fricked, one class spamming a single charge skill out damages several other classes entire kits by 20-40%
>constant fixes stapled on creating a disjointed, lonely experience for new players
>slow updates that rarely address the playerbase's issues
>has done nothing to build player confidence with the product, by the time anyone bothered to show their face that wasn't a shield the damage was already long done
NGS needed a massive overhaul on gear, stats and world interaction/progression and that isn't happening at this point.
>balance is fricked, one class spamming a single charge skill out damages several other classes entire kits by 20-40%
Is Slayer still that fricked up?
I'd like to see a Phantasy Star single player game.
ysok left sega. the producer is largely clueless how to run the game. thieir priorities are sticking to their roadmap they manipulated. they don't care about user feedback.
Because PSO2 and NG are targeted for SEA monkeys who love brainless loot treadmills
>assisted in launch of playstation and dreamcast
>same credentials as bernie stolar
FFS. This is basically confirmation that it's true - SEGA does not like money and makes active attempts to avoid acquiring much of it.
Your average Gamestop employee assisted in the launch of more consoles than him. What a stupid vague thing to say.
>Your average Gamestop employee assisted in the launch of more consoles than him.
Yes, they assisted in launching Gimped Sony Machine #1, Gimped Microsoft Machine #2, and Gimmick Nintendo Machine #3
>male
>at least remotely conventionally attractive
I'm all in.
They already sort of do this, with their Genesis collection it was updated so you can use the roms with any sort of emulator you want.
>They may actually double down on the "classic" game consoles. Their Genesis rerelease actually did pretty good.
They were audio lagging shitboxes, like all mini consoles.
Make Skies of Arcadia 2 and I will actually buy Sonic merch, I don't care if it makes me look like a dork at that point.
Kinobros we are SO BACK
Nothing will change, shareholders come first and if something is making money they'll demand the status quo gets kept. A new money puppet means nothing.
It's gonna be a dreamcast era revival bros.
Hopefully he'll tell Transbox to frick off too
Aw I thought it was Bobby for a second and sega was about to get their legs under them.
We're so back.
I wonder if SEGA would make arcade hardware for home again. At least with controllers.
maybe
As long as Sammy owns Sega things won't change.
Sega can't lead from the bottom.
what does Sammy even do
So this guy will greenlit Hyenas 2?
after the first one was canned?
Nips are incapable of learning from their mistake. They just double down.
that's what we said about miyamoto and look what happened
Bankruptcy when?
That guy looks like a guy who has played some VF in his youth.
Glad to see Kotick was able to find a new gig so quickly.
yeah asian plastic surgery did wonders.
Sega is only gonna get worse, because Nintendo will keep poaching their talent with all the money they make. As Nintendo grows larger, it should be expected that other Japanese studios will suffer. There's only so much high quality talent to go around. One cant grow without hurting the others.
Solid list of achievements there.
hello
What are the chances of Phantasy Star 5?
Never. It'd be a new sub-series. Which I don't mind.
About the same as Nintendo becoming a sony-owned third party.
If he confirms a PSO episode 1 and 2 remake/remaster he is the best CEO of all time
He isn't going to make something that takes away from their cash cow PSO2.
I rather have a new game in a new setting that can be played online or offline.
>The adults let Shoe become CEO
Aw, Hell Naw! He'll sell Sega to Microsoft in a nanosecond.
And he will commit sudoku when the "super game" inevitably fails. Like it was a coincidence that the last CEO resigned just before Hyenas? Yeah right.
Sega x Apple Console one day
Apple taking advantage of Microsoft shitting the bed seems on brand, also Sega denying microsoft and joining forces with apple would be hilarious.
SATURN MINI please.
よろしくお願いします
I want Sega to go out of business because they advertise on Ganker with some of the worst shitposting.
>I want Sega to go out of business because they advertise on Ganker with some of the worst shitposting.
That's a funny way of saying Nintendo.
>Segashills are moronic snoys
Imagine my shock. Both companies were created out of jealously of Nintendo, after all.
>both work for nintendo too
How much is Sega worth? I'm gonna buy 51% of shares and force them to make the next RGG game a brawler and also go back and patch LAD and IW to make them brawlers.
Also permanently can Sonic.
Japanese games are awful now. Almost as bad as Western games. Why should this matter to me?
Kick treasure so that they make good games again
Make more than one Persona per two generations.
Make more Sonic movies.
Sonic games are only low budget 2D games like Mania giving very high ROI.
Make more Yakuza spin offs or soft reboots so normies aren't afraid of 7 games baggage.
Make exclusivity deals with Microshit for free money.
NEW SAKURA WARS WHEN
