The two couldn't be further apart. Sherlock Holmes operated through logic and deduction, whilst Harry was famous for his unorthodox methods and being a brilliant interrogator.
>implying Logic, Visual Calculus, Encyclopedia and Inland Empires together don't make "logic and deduction" with a side of "seeing crimes in a way other investigators dont"
no, it's literally the Pale leaking into Harry's brain and giving him future visions. The portrait is even a map of the isolas.

Its secondary canon admittedly considering its never explained in game, but given many things in this concept art/worldbuilding do match how they're presented in the game, it can be assumed that until proven otherwise its a pretty good indicator of how The Pale works.
Finally got this while it was on sale and I can’t overstate how disappointed I was. That’s what happens when you fall for the hype. Stupid trumpets blaring constantly. It’s like the goal of the devs was to annoy the shit out of you. Plus they let you save scum so the entire game is ultimately pointless because you literally don’t even have to put points into any skills. I was passing shit at like 3% chance
I’m not terrified of “failure” im terrified of buying a game and being locked out of content because of a literal dice roll.
Like literally, dice roll. It shows you the dice on screen
You're locked out of content by succeeding. Failing checks and then retrying them is the central mechanic of the game. Some checks are better if you fail them. Just let it go, fail some, and if you run out of skill points to retry, there are others way to reset them.
>FOMO about being "locked out of content"
I genuinely feel bad for you. It's not a healthy attitude to have toward such things. You're supposed to enjoy the experience of playing it, that's the real "content" of a game, not maximizing the number of areas you see or items you collect or whatever. I will charitably assume it's because a lot of modern games have trained your brain badly.
Despite all the thinking you've been doing, only 0.0001% of the games you played were actually enjoyed. It's too great a task to undertake alone with that feeble brain of yours. You were completely in need of our opinions for many of them, why not this one?
Taking on different opinions is a metaphysical sense of self-actualization. I am a collection of things constantly growing and learning from the contrasts that pervade my life. In a manner of speaking I am one of if not the most intelligent people considering my yearning for greater understanding. I am what you would call a vertiable student, a cypher on the path to truth. All I have are variations of truth occult or otherwise, eventually it will lead me to solidify into a statue of perfect symmetry confident in my knowledge forged by the vicissitudes of the ages.
>locked out of content
I'll repeat: If you weren't so Terrified of failure, and bothered to actually play the game, you'd have realised that this isn't the case.
>Plus they let you save scum so the entire game is ultimately pointless because you literally don’t even have to put points into any skills.
homie, then don't savescum
No greater way to frick your entire enjoyment than to save scum. But I'm sure you're the type of midwife who only enjoys "RPGs" for the exploits and meta building
I’m not terrified of “failure” im terrified of buying a game and being locked out of content because of a literal dice roll.
Like literally, dice roll. It shows you the dice on screen
This is your mind on Bethesda RPGs. The absolute state of Ganker.
>save scumming >actually missing out on new story paths and character insights crafted by the devs only because your Fortnite instincts told you that game say bad = bad
I would not have minded an actual action game with Harry being an undercover cop and it plays out like Deus Ex
Sure he has actualized himself and overcome his past, but his schizophrenic skills alone would be entertaining enough to carry a narrative
The entire dialogue with Joyce was fricking surreal, hands down the most well written
I liked that she wanted the country to remain as a sovereign. I did not think she was a patriot, but it's not entirely out of left field either
She isn't. She's got Pale exposure on the same level as Paledriver but she's rich and has the training to prevent it totally overcoming her but the huge disconnect between being one of the people taking Revachol for all they can get and waxing poetic about how "we never should have given it up" should've clued you in on that.
And if not that, then the fact when you finally say goodbye to her you can call her either Rejoyce Layton or Joyce Messier. Because she's living two lives and one of them is not her own.
>"we never should have given it up"
I didn't know that either, I just assumed she was *old*. So that's what the Volto da Mar is supposed to do? Just abstract the psychological damage to an alternate persona?
Volta do Mar is a mental technique invented in the time of Dolores Dei involving poetry or something, intended to help humans retain their senses of self and other mental faculties during Pale exposure. Kim canonically has it as a FYS skill of his own, based on the player stats given to his buyable IRL jacket and shorts.
That just makes me remember her more. Our drunk frickfests were the thing of legends as I stumbled out of the dark half wienered and ready for her slovenly embrace round my emancipated frame.
