Ex genwunner here, I returned to pokemon after how broken I was when GF decided to nuke my old pals from gen 1 and 2, due to boredom for the most part. I enjoyed FRLG and HGSS a lot, experienced BW1 when it was new along this board, so it is one of my most loved times here. I don't like RSE nor DPPt and didn't pay attention to the anime much during those days.

XY, player customization was desperately needed in this franchise.
i'm happy they handicapped unova so terminally underdeveloped people could enjoy it.
AZ is cool and the credits music is one of the best written songs in the franchise.

They finally removed breeding incenses for pre-evos.
For all its faults, SWSH made the champion and league battles feel like an actual major event with an audience rather than the fights taking place in secluded rooms in bumblefrick nowhere
I really wish SWSH's main quest was focused entirely on the sports and didn't try to force some shitty legendary plot beyond that. Leave the dogs to the postgame.
A more compelling story could’ve been about somebody trying to cheat their way through the Pokemon League or something. Maybe something about using stolen Pokemon.

XY introduced mega evolution, and I think they are the coolest gimmick they've made for the series since each gen having a gimmick to set them apart
Its also funny, because mega evolution is the only gimmick not tied down to the region it was introduced in, and so it could have continued to appear, but just didn't

the Colo/Box bundle was surprisingly cheaper than buying Pal Box individually. also wanted a Pal Colo since i've heard it's easier to RNG manip,
Beautiful battle sprites and the Ghetsis theme is cool. Its not like I dont like it, its just I've only started playing G5 a few days. Its kind of stressful and the rivals are annoying but early days, early days.

Pokemon Amie is an underrated feature. It helps immensely with the immersion of living in a world with magical monsters without relying on battling.
I still think the art style in SW/SH is superior to S/V, I'll always prefer cel shading to more realistic lighting and textures. Also pic related is one of my absolute favorites
going on the dreamworld and collecting the hidden ability Pokemon & dreamball Pokemon was fun
Alola is genuinely one the most beautiful regions this series has ever pumped out.
They struck gold with the gen 1 trainer theme, and have only gotten close a couple of times.

mega evolution was cool and I enjoy using/fighting megas in fangames and romhacks. player customization was sorely needed too
