Say what you will about their coding or game design choices but these guys have the best RPG writing team in the industry.
Witcher 2, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077. The motherfrickers don't miss, no matter the subject matter of the story they always put pure distilled SOVL on the table.
They're like the anti-Bethesda.

their last actually good game was TW2, TW3 is too halfbaked and flawed with unresolved plot threads from previous games.
3 was a victim of deadlines and budget, just like 2 was. 3 just feels worse because its the big wrap up of the story.
atleast 2 has TWO unique playthroughs mid game atleast depending on your choice
Is being the best at the least import part of video games important?
Well it might not matter to the majority audience but it matters to me.
I mostly rate games based on how much I enjoyed the story.
> I am a big fan of writing.
Have you heard of these things called books?
Yeah I read lots of books too, but interactive media has its appeal as well.
I am old school in that I agree with the " Story in video games is like the story in porn. You expect it to be there but it only serves to get to the action" mindset.
The transition to movie games is a disappointment to me.
Then you have horrible taste in porn too.
RPGs are the outlier and always have been.
Which is great. 2 is still half finished even if they managed to stick the landing.
> RPGs have been the outlier.
No they haven't. Story and narrative has always been subservient to gameplay in RPGs.
Name one bad RPG saved by the writing.
or
Name one good RPG ruined by the writing.
Writing and narrative are the least important part of RPGs just like every other video game.
Movie games are the exception. The Witcher 3s and TLOU type games focus more on the movie than the game.
Disco elisyum is literally writing the game rpg?
It is a pick a path to adventure book in video game form.
That is why it is horrible video game.
That means you are a homosexual
They're based just for GOG alone.
GOG is shit though
cyberpunk 2077 was a pretty wide fricking miss dude. the writing, especially dialogue, ranges from mediocre to awful and the game's barely, if even, an RPG. and if you're going to develop a game, things like "coding" and "game design choices" should probably rate a little higher as priorities
>CP
That crap has a mediocre story and half of the work already existed
True.
They make characters you care about.
They make characters that attract you
They make characters that feel real and exist within their world
They make stories that are engaging.
They make well written and realistic dialogue.
They make stories that tackle interesting themes.
They are masters of worldbuilding.
They are masters of side quest writing.
And to top it all, they have some of the best presentation in the industry, acting, voice acting, cutscene direction, soundtracks.
CDPR are talented!
Cyberpunk Edgerunners was written by a CDPR writer
Imagine Witcher Netflix was directed by a CDPR team.
>They're like the anti-Bethesda.
Why does Bethesda live rentfree in rpggay's heads? You can't go into a Larian, Owlcat, Obsidian or Bioware thread without somebody seething about them, and that seething is often in the OP too.
They have been looking for a kingslayer forever. They have had many champions take up the challenge and fail the quest.
Bioware,Obsidian, and CDProjekt have all come for the king and have been found wanting.
If history is any indication they are going to try to build up Larian as the next Bethesda killer.
Meh. I guess since they get their source material from a book instead of creating one themselves, but when they do it tends to be forgettable like Cyberpunk 2077 except for 1 or 2 characters. They're the standard Bioware which isn't saying much.
>best RPG writing team
But their games are barely even RPGs
>the best RPG writing team in the industry.
>Reddit 2, Reddit 3, troonypunk 2077.
lol, lmao even
>Reddit 2
Black person barely anyone has played TW2 or 1 for that as well before the huge tourist influx from TW3
IDK about 2077 but i can´t deny i was invested on the Witcher 3. And it´s not only on the main story, the sidequests and even the DLC had legit good short stories built for them too.
Witcher 2 was also good but, honestly, i don´t really care for political intrigues. The destiny of a kingdom, a realm or even an existence plane are irrelevant to me, i´m on it for the personal conflict. Save the damsel in distress/ love interest/ daughter.
You gotta play 2077 then, its fantastic. dont listen to the haters. CDPR still got it.
>peak Bioware wannabes
>good
kek. Tali still mogs all Witcher and Cyberpunk girls
>The motherfrickers don't miss, no matter the subject matter of the story they always put pure distilled SOVL on the table.
That sounds so moronic and forced. Are you a redditor or an intern?
3 wasn't bad but people praising it as the second coming of christ was annoying especially since they haven't played the series nor other rpgs and just cared about the next SkyrimTM.
doesn't help it were mostly women or gaming tourists in general who just wanted a happy movie style game, otherwise anyone playing the previous games can see TW3 being heavily flawed sequel.
What changed Ganker's opinion on TW3 when that game was well loved and discussed here when it released?
It became too popular so you had to start hating on it or be considered reddit by association.
the only ones who loved it to death were newbies of the series
The CDProjekt marketing dept moved on to 2077. Now it just the npcs that fell for the marketing depts " Plucky underdogs doing it out of love" campaign still defending it.
>ESG company
>good
