I know, right? I’ve heard that earlier generations’ shinies were done by randomizing the colors, so that would explain why some don’t change much. But if they’re designing the shiny palettes by hand now, there’s no excuse to have shinies look exactly like the normal colors.
I wonder if it really is just laziness, like they can’t be bothered to just pick a new color that’s different from the original.

This whole line was completely and unforgivably botched. I think this was the pokemon from the leaks that people were most intrigued by, and it ended up being one of the worst lines of the entire generation. Now the shiny is fricked up too lmao

My opinions are mixed
I recognize a lot of them suck (mostly the barely changed ones) but at the same time, I'm loving most of the ones that aren't like that and pretty much all the mons I care about have shinies I really like

I like blue shinies the most but I also like some other shinies that look cool. This gen does have a (very few) cool shinies like Kilowattrel being a nice shade of brown but the rest I'm sitting here looking at them and wondering why they're so shit.
I know Squawkabilly has different shinies for each color but do we know if Tatsugiri does as well?

Game Freak employees OBJECTIVELY and LITERALLY deserve to be publicly executed. They have to know nobody likes that shit. They're doing it out of spite at this point.
im inclined to believe it, along with removing audio and visual cues for a shiny in the overworld, is just them arbitrarily trying to make shinies more "rare"
but it also has the side effect of making no one give a shit about the shiny
these are wildly disappointing. All three starters are just washed out, there's at least 5 lines where you can't even tell the difference between regular and shiny, ceruledge and armorouge don't even swap palettes, and most of the shitmons just have a single one of their body's colours tinted slightly. The Chrome ones for the future paradoxes are the only exciting ones.

For me it’s because I don’t like the idea of the future paradox forms in general. I’ve never been a fan of “robot/metal/mecha _____” so they don’t appeal to me to begin with, and since the chrome accentuates the mechanical aspect, it’s not my favorite.

Holy frick, if this gen did anything right, it was having amazing shinies, so many of these pokemon just look straight up better as shinies. Like Bellibolt, Lowkix, The Olives, Cetitan, Brambles, The Sprigatito line, Houndstone, etc.

So we know that Squakabilly has 4 separate Shinies, in line with it's 4 normal colors.
Any word on if Tatsugiri ALSO has 3 separate Shinies for each of it's normal colors?

Has anyone datamined the rate of shiny pokemon in this game yet? I just had biology class 4 where Jacq very straightforwardly said the shiny rate is now 1/4000 for both eggs and wild pokemon alike (he also confirmed that masuda method still works in this game, and also talked about the existence of the shiny charm.)
