How does this impact the meta, assuming Latios now learns Flash Cannon while Latias learns Dazzling Gleam?

>Lose STAB on their signature moves
>Latias's only Fairy move is Charm while Latios's only Steel move is Steel Wing
Nice fricking meme, they're not reworking vast chunks of their learnsets to have that shit make sense.
Mist ball becomes fairy, its obvious
Ah yes, its signature move then loses STAB when it's not Mega Evolved. Brilliant.

They would though. They already did this with megas, even mid-gen for the ORAS ones.
No, they fricking didn't. What kind of revisionist bullshit are you on about?
Losing STAB is different than not having it to begin with. Also, the entire point of Techno Blast is that it's a coverage move that can change its type. Pick a real example.
Jaw Lock on Chewtle/Drednaw
I either missed the generation where Chewtle and Drednaw were Dark, or you're actually illiterate.
You implied Techno Blast wasn't a "real example" of a Pokemon's signature move not being STAB because it's meant to be a dynamic coverage move. Jaw Lock is a signature move that's not STAB. If you want an example of a signature move that lost STAB you're not going to find it because it doesn't exist.
Meant for
obviously
I implied that Techno Blast was a bad faith example because it was designed specifically to be a coverage move. My fricking argument from the start was that Pokemon have never lost STAB on a signature move and it took you until your last sentence to actually address that. Also, Drednaw's almost as bad of an example because it was designed with Strong Jaw in mind.
No shit they've never done it, but not because the idea of having a non-STAB signature move would be somehow taboo (Gen 3 Nuzleaf with Extrasensory is another example since you didn't like Drednaw either.) It simply hasn't happened because no Pokemon with a signature move has been affected by type changes where that could ever conceivably occur, seeing as most type changes barring Clefable and Togetic/kiss have been additions and not replacements.
>, seeing as most type changes barring Clefable and Togetic/kiss have been additions and not replacements.
you forgot about Rotom's type changes between gen IV and V and also Granbull
I never said the idea's taboo, I said the idea's fricking stupid and they've never done it before. Which is true in both cases. I suspect my illiteracy jab might have more gravity than originally intended.
Sure, you could argue it's stupid, I wouldn't particularly disagree. I think Drednaw/Genesect/Galarian Stunfisk having signature moves based around the concept of the Pokemon rather than the typing would still work with the Lati twins, if it were to happen. Mist Ball's description is based off of Latias having refractive down, and that concept works regardless of whether it's STAB. It could be Flying or Water and still make sense.
That seems like an odd distinction to make.
It's fricking stupid for a Pokemon to lose STAB on a signature move, but not fricking stupid for a Pokemon to be given a signature move that never had STAB in the first place?
Also, just because it's fricking stupid, that doesn't mean GF won't ever do it. This is GF we're talking about.
>reworking
It's literally just adding like, 4 moves at most for each of them/.
>Latios
>Flash Cannon
Would still carry HP fire as a check for several ice/steel types and Ferrothorn
>Hp fire
Mystical Fire- mb
Based if true. Mega Evolution returning would be kinda cool on its own, but actually rebalancing with different types, stats, moves, etc. is even better. I hope more Mega Evolutions get majorly rebalanced. The strongest ones need nerfed, the weakest ones need buffed. And then add a bunch of new ones. It would be cool if they also redesigned some of them visually, but I doubt it
>Dragon/Steel Latios
Frick yea.
Both become Ubers unironically
>Latias is a buffed Mega Altaria that can threaten far more things
>Latios has one weakness to Fighting
>Both Pokemon look identical as Mega so naming Latias as Latios or visa versa is a legit strategy
>STAB Draco Meteor spam is still on the table
>type change
but why?
