In the sense that there's (generally bad) porn in the games, yes. In the sense that it's meant for the player to beat off and close the game immediately after, not at all.
I wouldn't call it a game, to be fair. It's more of an interactive art project with loose rules. In this context, at least Post Void achieves what it seeks out for in terms of it's early 90's MTV artistic influences, and succeeds at being a game. I'd argue Hylics fails because it, as I said, is less a game and more interactive art, so it doesn't HAVE an end goal. It's abstract so you take from it what you see and feel. This is great for art, but less for a video game where people expect some sort of solid core to it to latch onto. I guess Hylics is chewing gum. Tons of flavor, multiple ways to play around with it, but it's all chew and no crunch.
Didn't like Prey because I found myself autistically hitting every item with a stick when I walked in the room to be safe. Couldn't shake the habit so I just refunded it tbqh.
I finally got around to playing Prey 2017 last week, finished it last night, it's very schizocore and I probably would hate it if it wasn't
I didn't realize mimics actually hid and I could smack them for a good hour or two in, and it didn't cement that they were until I got the Psychoscope and the chipset to find hidden mimics
Honestly wojak, pepe and most of the variations aren't bad memes
The problem is that there's only that two main memes and not much else
It's like how the internet got centralized and there's only a few big websites now, the memes got centralized too, it is sad
I blame mostly homosexuals and turists using twitter who came here, also liked this meme, and started to...warp it.
Now it is so normal, they are fricking everywhere.
I mean, that's the purpose of a meme. A meme that can't evolve is a dead meme. After a while, it evolves so much it stops being a meme and becomes a part of social interaction. In-jokes and stupid references become ingrained.
>in a way, is deus ex original a schizo game?
I would not claim that it is, but I assume the reasoning there is related to the way it quite obsessively focuses on grand conspiracy theories.
This game, Knock-Knock.
It does not look like much, but it's made by the same people who made fever-dream simulator Pathologic and existential dread training exercise The Void.
It's a game about mental illness that genuinely tries to mess with your head through it's gameplay. IPL are really good at this, all of their games are about experiencing some kind of pathological mental state THROUGH THE ACTUAL MECHANICS of the game, and Knock-Knock very much follows in that tradition.
I've read a lot of people mentioning that this game made them uncomfortable, some even mention nightmares. It did give me a panic attack, so I'm inclined to believe them. Depends a lot of a person though, I've also seen dozens of people who did not even notice something is profoundly wrong with it.
Still - when it comes to trying to capture messed up perception of reality through the actual interactive dimension of videogames, it's one of the very best and most clever attempts.
Oaxaca is unironically good. It's like FNV with the variety, immersion and exploration but made on a school computer. Would recommend. The dev is also supremely based.
prey was absolutely boring garbage. the texts were nothing but a fricking boring and uninspired wankfest. its also fricking old Black person sci-fi nobody would want
>a real schizo core game is something like The Witness that makes you look for patterns everywhere and come up with insane theories
It's quite funny that you say this, because Witness is actually one giant love-letter to postmodern philosophy, which is still widely accepted as a influential school, arguably the second most important one in the western world.
So it makes me laugh when people unconsciously acknowledge how close postmodernism is to just deranged mental state, like you just did.
>Yes, and?
It's just interesting, the fact that we have became so enamored with a philosophy that really borders on what we define as metal pathology is strange and somewhat amusing to me. There isn't that much more to it.
And by the way, don't take this as a complete rejection of postmodernism either. I think that in some areas, it did a lot of good too, despite obviously disagreeing with it in the end.
Sometimes, a shift in perspective is actually useful, and yeah - many people who were either borderline, or straight up mentally ill actually helped to discover new angles and ideas for the rest of us.
It's just fascinating how thin the line between being a rich new perspective, and being straight up raving lunatic, can be.

understanding the underlying philosophies and logic behind what drives the insane IS probably where we will find the next big break through in how we understand the universe. it seems we've basically exhausted most of the the logical and sane avenues of understanding, now down the rabbit hole into ourselves, the real true great unknown.
*takes 10 sheets of acid and passes out on the floor and poops myself*
>understanding the underlying philosophies and logic behind what drives the insane IS probably where we will find the next big break through in how we understand the universe. it seems we've basically exhausted most of the the logical and sane avenues of understanding
That is really, really, REALLY not true in any way.
One - there is a reason why insane people are labeled as insane, and it is specifically due to their LACK of connection to reality.
Two - we have absolutely not even remotely scratched the surface of logical and sane avenues of understanding, partially because we still aren't quite as strict on requiring our intellectual traditions to remane sane to begin with.
By the way, I did not even want to imply that postmodernism is rooted in insanity in my earlier post. I merely wanted to point out the similarities.
Postmodernism itself is rooted in overzealous optimism about the implications of semiotic turn, and understandable, but unfortunately overzealous and unmanaged glorification of an otherwise perfectly valid importance of plurality of perspectives.
It takes good ideas and realizations - the importance of semiotics and arbitrariness of meaning, and the importance of mental flexibility and willingness to explore different points of perspective - and it just pushes them too far, without moderation.
That is not insane, it's just naive. But if still pushed too far, it will start RESEMBLING actual insanity.
>watched any tv lately? >or browsed social media?
Actually, no. Neither. I don't have a TV, I get my news from various feeds from sites I can trust (or straight up relevant academic papers), and I really detest social media.
But I know what you are saying, and yeah, there is a lot of fricked up stuff going on around us right now. I'm not sure how that affects my point though, which is that embracing insanity would be somehow beneficial, or that we have been pushing rational and logical thought to some kind of a brink.
The insanity that is currently dominating stuff like social and liberal studies discourse is if anything, a proof that we neither uphold sanity and rationality all that well today, and that what sometimes literally involves glorification of mental illnessess isn't exactly helping anyone.
We already indulge various mental pathologies a little too much, and it clearly isn't helping anything and anyone.
1) schizoid personality disorder has nothing to actually do with schizophrenia, aside from the linguistic root for that term.
2) that is a giant load of shit.
I really wish people would stop fricking romanticizing mental disorders.
Trust me, being schizoid does not make you super interesting and actually really sensitive and attractive deep down.
I had a... well friend is really not the right word, but a person I got to know quite well, with schizotypal disorder when I was hospitalized few years ago.
We shared a room, spend almost a month together, I dare to say that I was helping him a lot in some ways.
So being quite familiar with what that disorder looks like, you have my sympathies, but I also know that probably does not mean much.
Hard to tell if the right side means anything to me truly, or if that's just mild autism symptoms listed specifically to frick with people on this board.
A pretty cool tactical shooter with a lot of options. No autismfest around "balancing" things, but you can have a lot of fun just by traversing the levels and finding cool combos.
>omg every shooter needs to look the same otherwise it's le bad design!
stfu, you wouldn't understand good design and what's bad if it hit you in the ass
Any mindfrick games are pretty good. Schizos always think they know everything so to lead them one way then throw them for a loop is always good fun. Even shit like elden rings open a chest and end up in hellworld is amazing.
It lists fricking Cryostasis, a game about the importance of small actions of human kindness as a "Schizo" game, and puts fricking pathologic on a "walking sim" list.
It could not be more moronic if it tried.
It's like Deus Ex, but combined with Fallout. Don't judge it by screenshots or videos, that shit is genuinely addictive once you get a solid grasp of it. It's a very solid RPG, and it's mostly /stonercore/, not really a schizo game.
>Disco Elysium
I mean, most of the fricking dialogue its actually an internal monologue between yourself, your own skills, whatever you are imaginathong thans to Shivers, Volition and Inland Empire and whatever the frick are you interacting with, like your fricking tie, your ledger and your own shoes.
Measurehead its a fricking butthole and i still enjoy beaten up his ass, but the part about recognising how Harry is a lonely frick who hasn't had sex in a while and the schizofrenia part, i have to aggre with that part.
>according to Ganker
deboonked
Isaac and Spec Ops are some of the most normalgay games ever made
>no dead god
shit list
This is an awful chart for an awful thread.
In the sense that there's (generally bad) porn in the games, yes. In the sense that it's meant for the player to beat off and close the game immediately after, not at all.
I know it's trying to be on-brand with the font and background but it makes it fricking awful to read the little blurbs
please fricking have a nice day. i genuinely mean it, the world would be a better place without you.
>its not full of MMOs
fail
>Platform: PS3 emulated, PS Now
Damn I guess this was made by a real schizo huh
I'd add returnal to that list
MDK is just wacky, not schizo
Neither is Brigand, or KOTOR or fricking Pathologic. That list is just "games that have twists, or strange ideas in them."
King of Ganker 2022 was a mistake.
I really hated Hylics.
I wouldn't call it a game, to be fair. It's more of an interactive art project with loose rules. In this context, at least Post Void achieves what it seeks out for in terms of it's early 90's MTV artistic influences, and succeeds at being a game. Tons of flavor, multiple ways to play around with it, but it's all chew and no crunch.
I wouldn't call Hylics schizo games either. They're surreal but more whimsical than schizo
schizo has become a synonym for weird/experimental on Ganker
>Bloodborne
>Isaac
>KOTOR
I think whoever made this list just wanted to put games they liked on it.
>Golden Light
Frick I need to get back to that. It was a bit too schizo for me when I first picked it up and was fricking with me.
Didn't like Prey because I found myself autistically hitting every item with a stick when I walked in the room to be safe. Couldn't shake the habit so I just refunded it tbqh.
Autist.
yeah maybe, literally nothing ever snuck up on me because of it though
I finally got around to playing Prey 2017 last week, finished it last night, it's very schizocore and I probably would hate it if it wasn't
I didn't realize mimics actually hid and I could smack them for a good hour or two in, and it didn't cement that they were until I got the Psychoscope and the chipset to find hidden mimics
I got gifted critters for sale and I consider it an actual schizo game. There's no way the dev is mentally sane.
Wanna make my own schizo game but I'm not insane enough to learn coding just for that
wojaks ruined Ganker
Honestly wojak, pepe and most of the variations aren't bad memes
The problem is that there's only that two main memes and not much else
It's like how the internet got centralized and there's only a few big websites now, the memes got centralized too, it is sad
i remember all the faces from rage comics and similar things. almost nobody uses these nowadays because a wojak variant replaced most of them.
I blame mostly homosexuals and turists using twitter who came here, also liked this meme, and started to...warp it.

Oaxaca is unironically good. It's like FNV with the variety, immersion and exploration but made on a school computer. Would recommend. The dev is also supremely based.
>he doesn't know
Isn't it just a coomer game?
It's best you find out yourself
it's a schizo game that uses porn to try and lure in coomers and its quality suffers dramatically because of it. don't bother with this one.
>its quality suffers dramatically because of it
Why even lie this hard about something that's maybe 10% of the content at best.
Anon, there’s an actual reason why people talk about BS, not because of a certain blonde hair, blue eyes e-girl, there’s more to that.
what's BS?
Black Souls
prey was absolutely boring garbage. the texts were nothing but a fricking boring and uninspired wankfest. its also fricking old Black person sci-fi nobody would want

Does anyone think Cruelty Squad is schizo? It's just a stupidly fun game where the bizarre mechanics somehow flow perfectly with the jank gameplay.

Hello Charlotte.
Does paranoiascape fit in anywhere here?
call of duty black ops
Prey 2017 is so god damn good
At what point does a game go from horror to schizo when it has a hospital setting?
Is there a viable stealth build in prey? Every time I try to do one it ends up falling apart halfway through

What a fricking TERRIBLE list.
I don't think you have played even 1/10 of the game listed, you did not even bother to google them.
that's not my list, i'm just posting it
i played lots of those pictured and the tossup is 50/50, yeah, could be better
It lists fricking Cryostasis, a game about the importance of small actions of human kindness as a "Schizo" game, and puts fricking pathologic on a "walking sim" list.
