Mitsuda is freelance and leads a studio, Procyon. They did the music for Xenoblade 3 and Another Eden (a phone game). Another Eden's OST is actually fricking fantastic, and available for free here. Game is whatever.

Stifling Song best fricking shit.
How was chained echoes, seemed cool? Crystal project looks great.
Chained Echoes is mechanically decent (and gets real good once you get mechs towards the end) but the story is weak and focuses on inverting Xenogear's plot.
Crystal Project, on the other hand, is a joy throughout. No story, just platforming and job system.
I liked the mecha battle system more than the regular one, which could be broken from the get go via A+ stones. The mech system at least required some strategizing.
I will pirate it and beat it so I can more accurately shitpost about it, ala Chained Echoes and Crystal Project (which was fricking great).
Remember I am Setsuna and its sequel Lost Sphear? I am the only person to beat them.
Chained Echos, weirdly, feels more like a PSX-era RPG instead of a SNES-era RPG despite how it looks
Sea of Stars (at least from the demo) feels so much more like a SNES-era RPG.
CE is really closest to Xenoblade in progression style, with wide MMO style maps. The problem is that there are only 6-8 of them and the story doesn't utilize them to their fullest. The last dungeon is really good, however, even if the plot doesn't really deserve it.
Chained Echoes has a slow start, but gets good once the party is together. Fun combat, lots of room to customize how you want to play. The story is also pretty good up until the final act where it goes full moron. I’d still recommend it, but for real the last chunk of the game feels crazy rushed and the quality of the story takes a huge nose dive.
99% of indie sprite "artists" have no idea how to properly use color, and the fact that modern platforms have basically no limitation on color choices makes it even worse
The only time I ever saw it mentioned on /vrpg/, aside from myself, was some anon making a thread comparing it to SaGa, and some other anon(s) sperged the frick out spamming the thread because I guess OP criticized SaGa and that was a big no-no.
>generic indieslop
frick off shill
i haven't played the demo since it'l be free on gamepass but i'm looking forward to it, can't wait to hear the mitsuda tracks as well
>mitsuda tracks
The what?
the composer from chrono trigger and xenoblade 2/3 made 10(?) tracks for the game
Those games are mid, so I don't understand what the big deal is
no cap fr fr

the mech fights are pure torture
Crystal Project was dope though
Speaking of indie fake JRPGs, how is Wrestlquest?
I liked the mecha battle system more than the regular one, which could be broken from the get go via A+ stones. The mech system at least required some strategizing.
>how is Wrestlquest?
Bad
damn
all I want is a good indie "j"rpg with a world map
"full moron" is not explicative enough for "author's NTR fetish"

>story is also pretty good
anon the story's climax is about how the MC is a bad person for being pissed that a Black person cucked him
Did you stop reading after the part you quoted? Because literally the next words are about the climax being shit
>Crystal Project (which was fricking great)
>Crystal project looks great
Frick off Andrew
Don't you have troony NTR porn to jack off to, Matthias?
Is "I am Setsuna" any good?
Painfully mid
Does it have a job system?
>$35 for a pixelshit indie game
No fricking thanks. Hollow Knight was $15 and has 100x more soul and originality than this.
it's on gamepass and ps+ day one
I don't subscribe to troony platforms.
ok
man, don't bring Ganker onto this. this game looks awesome, I don't want a bunch of dumbass doom posts about this game
>bringing up XVI out of the blue
Hi Barry
>32x32 pixel sprites and yet the characters still somehow manage to look less detailed then chrono trigger
OLD GOOD
NEW BAD
more like
>SKILL GOOD
true, new is commercial trash whereas the old was actually creatively inspired.
the golden age is over, progress is a myth.
99% of indie sprite "artists" have no idea how to properly use color, and the fact that modern platforms have basically no limitation on color choices makes it even worse
What are they lacking exactly?
And pls don't use buzzword like 'soul'
They have a poor understanding of color theory, and their sprites suffer from symbol drawing, particularly when they're larger than 16-bit era sprites
>Tumblr art
Speaking of indie not!jRPGs, play False Skies.
Absolutely not.
