Didn't care about this series until the Critters. Chapter 2 was bad, and I was ready to drop the series if the next part was like that one. The Critters + going in a darker direction has made this series way more popular.

I read somewhere that Chapter 3 took about 8 months to complete due to Project Playtime taking up some of their time. I hope they take as much time, or even longer, for chapter 4. No need to rush as taking their time with 3 really paid off for them. Said it before, but I'm hoping the next chapter can conjure an Outlast tier vibe.
I'm trying to think of what the enviroment for 4 will be... I'm pretty convinced there will be 5 chapters.

I was thinking 5 would see us lap back to Chapter 1 and enter the area we never got to since they said we would revisit it at some point, but now I'm open to the idea that they just remake Chapter 1 from the ground up as more than a demo. As for 4 I think its going to be like you say. SCP-esque containment chambers and testing chambers all tied together with tight hallways to give the feeling of a massive labyrinth that we'd never escape. After that 5 could be the deepest parts of the factory which has been turned into a lair or throne room for 1006, decorated with toys and offerings everywhere.
tbh I'd rather them just remake the entire game from the ground up a few years down the line. That way they could add all the characters that appear later on into parts of the game where they didn't exist yet. As in Critter posters in Chapter 1, Mommy Long Legs references in 1 etc.
Plus it'd give them a chance to tighten up aspects that didn't quite work in 2-3. Even small things like adding Mini Critters into the Dome right before you fight CatNap would help improve the atmosphere IMO.
I bet the Smiling Critters would love the Jackbox games, these games always require 8 players max and there are 8 smiling critters so it'd be perfect for them!
Depends on whether or not CatNap's gas can effect Huggy to give him a major advantage, but even then, CatNap is blatantly more durable so he should be able to theoretically outlast Huggy. We know Huggy got taken out of commission by a massive fall, so blunt force still works against him and that means CatNap has a potential win-con.

CatNap survived a high-voltage electrical blast straight to the face, then burst into flames courtesy of his own flames and had basically his entire outer layer scalded off. He still managed to survive that, albeit very weakened, so there's a chance he could survive the fall.
They are pretty even from what can be scooped. Both are uber fast and strong and can shrink and grow to attain any advantage size may afford them. I'm gonna say Huggy if he can trip up CatNap and bite out his throat.
i think catnap has an intelligence advantage, huggy is practically animalistic in terms of wits while catnap engage in active worship of the prototype and even made a shrine for him
I played it and liked the hand mechanic, they should expand the platforming sections and give us proper grappling so we can swing around and escape foes

I never played poppy playtime before so i decided to give the project playtime a go to see how the core mechanics of the game is, the thing is

for all the effort thrown into it, they could've just asked dead by daylight to collaborate and make a skin pack with them.
as for the main game, play chapter 1, chapter 2 and chapter 3 cost money but are otherwise not horribly expensive, It's 30$ between the two, but chapter 3 has a environment with lots of well designed details, and it's nice to look around and appreciate the effort thrown in. The grabpack mechanics are also fun to play with, but some of the puzzles can be aggravating to solve without a guide, especially that lift one during chapter 2.
chapter 3's boss fight is a minor bit janky but it's still tough to do. I didn't know that project: playtime had wokeshit though, that's unfortunate.

A special dream. About how there’s going to be an extras minigame in the credits that involves the smiling critters, and that reveals the details of chapter 4. Unfortunately I forgot most of the details, but you’ll reuse the train to get around since there’d be another train obviously other than the one that crashed as a burning wreck.
This means that the player leaves Playcare via the same ski trolley thing that you entered in, returning to surface to find a different segment of the factory.
Though I just realized that the player was last seen going down the lift in the gas production zone, before [/spoiler] Kissy Missy got attacked by something, and the lift was raising.
It could very well be that chapter 4 starts off searching for Kissy Missy once we run off the lift, looking around for clues like tufts of fur and fresh blood. So it wouldn’t be a long stretch to assume that the player would be back on the rails.
How would you guys feel if Poppy Playtime ended with a final boss encounter with a giant sized Prototype and (You) facing it in a mech over the ruins of the facility whilst buttrock is playing?
That’d be a lame ending, I’d rather prefer something more tense than just running around in some cargo mech trying to defeat the prototype himself.
For now I think Chapter 4 starting off with finding/mourning Kissy Missy is most likely. Chapter 5 would continue from there once we find the actual antagonist or see him and confront him. I won’t be saying that there’s no boss fight, just that a mech running around the facility is a bit silly.

We don't really know how close the Bigger Bodies were with each other, especially CatNap. DogDay calls him a "thing".

Catnap was the last Smiling Critter made of the BBI, so he probably was the outlier. But more likely, he stopped considering Catnap a person when he participated in the hour of joy and did a cannibal with the other toys.
But with how Dogday considers himself the last of the Smiling Critters, as if the title means something, implies to me that he was close with the other critters, probably by BBI design, and might have even been close with Catnap or at least tried to be. The kids liked catnap so they probably got along fine until shit hit the fan and catnap showed his hand

As of now we don't know. It could simply be a case of Mob being lazy and not wanting to make more models, or not all the toys participated. For now we don't know. I hope that we see more HOJ footage in Chapter 4. DogDay saying they were trying to fight the Prototype's control is interesting, like as if maybe they were forced to do things against their will like some sort of Borg hivemind.

The brainwashing of the other critters was clearly way more effective than it was on CatNap, which might explain why the staff trusted the critters enough to let them be caretakers and not treat them like prisoners. They started as almost perfect replicas of the cartoon characters and only diverged due to age and Hour of Joy trauma. Kissy and Huggy were way more unstable and were treated as weapons, and Mommy Longlegs might have been good at hiding her intentions
That, along with CatNap retaining a lot of his old mind, is probably why there is a lot more spite against him compared to the others

as for your first part of your post, I agree.
Using VAs as any kind of clue won't work, as a lot of people pull double duty in this series. Avalon has 5 characters, Nola Klop has 3 in this chapter, and almost everyone else with a role has a minimum of 2 parts not including The Prototype who everyone helped voice.

I really wish we could have learned more about DogDay and the other Critters. Even if it was just via random notes found throughout the game. The Counsellor's office is so empty, it would have been a perfect exposition/lore dump area. You could tell they were running out of time in that level.
I have a feeling chapter 4 is going to be full of Smiling Critters recordings, interviews, and lore that's built specifically to make up for the lack of the characters in chapter 3. That, or chapter 4 will provide a big chapter 3 update that includes all of this new info

I'm hoping for a big time Chapter 3 update myself. There's plenty of little things they could add, even just some notes. They can milk Chapter 3 a little longer instead of bumrushing to 4. People are still going wild over the Critters.

Coulda also been done with environmental storytelling. Like, as an example, stakes with Bubba's (for blaspheming the savior) and Kickin's (for attempting to escape) heads on them.
Theo CatNap was originally described as shy and gentle during the "normal" years in Playcare. He only became the way he was as his mind started to slip as the staff continued to abuse him and others, as we saw in his VHS tape and the Prototype's. Theo clearly retained a lot of his human memories too as the scientist even refers to him by that name, so he's at least as intelligent as Poppy, DogDay and Mommy.
Like if someone managed to come along and save all the toys before the Hour of Joy, and give them a decent life in bad circumstances, I doubt he would have ever hurt anybody. But he, and many others, simply had enough of being tormented by the devils that made them that way.
Obviously 10 years after that his mind is even further deteriorated, probably due in part by him seemingly starving himself. Though he's skinny in the HOJ VHS too, so who knows. He doesn't seem to eat any of the little toys, besides maybe Bunzo, but you can see the remains of plenty of toys he's killed in Playcare.
The key was that he also slaughtered anyone who didn't fall in line with the Prototype's demands, which had become more deranged and violent compared to the original plan of escape. This included the Smiling Critters who just wanted to escape and died for it
I think is silly to assume the other critters didn't participate in the hour of joy in some capacity. I'm pretty sure they were tired of being slaves too. Kissy also opposes the Prototype in the game but we see her participating in the masacre too.
Kissy wasn't shown doing any damage that wasn't necessary for escape, like taking out the guards that had her locked down, compared to the other BBIs we saw that were focused on purging rather than running away. I am pretty sure the Critters were on that same wavelength and did probably kill a few guards, but only if they were a threat to them.
Though Crafty or Piggy might have gotten bloodthirsty too, hard to tell

I was thinking 5 would see us lap back to Chapter 1 and enter the area we never got to since they said we would revisit it at some point, but now I'm open to the idea that they just remake Chapter 1 from the ground up as more than a demo. As for 4 I think its going to be like you say. SCP-esque containment chambers and testing chambers all tied together with tight hallways to give the feeling of a massive labyrinth that we'd never escape. After that 5 could be the deepest parts of the factory which has been turned into a lair or throne room for 1006, decorated with toys and offerings everywhere.

tbh I'd rather them just remake the entire game from the ground up a few years down the line. That way they could add all the characters that appear later on into parts of the game where they didn't exist yet. As in Critter posters in Chapter 1, Mommy Long Legs references in 1 etc.
Plus it'd give them a chance to tighten up aspects that didn't quite work in 2-3. Even small things like adding Mini Critters into the Dome right before you fight CatNap would help improve the atmosphere IMO.

Depends on whether or not CatNap's gas can effect Huggy to give him a major advantage, but even then, CatNap is blatantly more durable so he should be able to theoretically outlast Huggy. We know Huggy got taken out of commission by a massive fall, so blunt force still works against him and that means CatNap has a potential win-con.

I never played poppy playtime before so i decided to give the project playtime a go to see how the core mechanics of the game is, the thing is

project playtime was pretty much a defunct project from the start.
for all the effort thrown into it, they could've just asked dead by daylight to collaborate and make a skin pack with them.
as for the main game, play chapter 1, chapter 2 and chapter 3 cost money but are otherwise not horribly expensive, It's 30$ between the two, but chapter 3 has a environment with lots of well designed details, and it's nice to look around and appreciate the effort thrown in. The grabpack mechanics are also fun to play with, but some of the puzzles can be aggravating to solve without a guide, especially that lift one during chapter 2.
chapter 3's boss fight is a minor bit janky but it's still tough to do. I didn't know that project: playtime had wokeshit though, that's unfortunate.

A special dream. About how there’s going to be an extras minigame in the credits that involves the smiling critters, and that reveals the details of chapter 4. Unfortunately I forgot most of the details, but you’ll reuse the train to get around since there’d be another train obviously other than the one that crashed as a burning wreck.
This means that the player leaves Playcare via the same ski trolley thing that you entered in, returning to surface to find a different segment of the factory.
Though I just realized that the player was last seen going down the lift in the gas production zone, before [/spoiler] Kissy Missy got attacked by something, and the lift was raising.
It could very well be that chapter 4 starts off searching for Kissy Missy once we run off the lift, looking around for clues like tufts of fur and fresh blood. So it wouldn’t be a long stretch to assume that the player would be back on the rails.
How would you guys feel if Poppy Playtime ended with a final boss encounter with a giant sized Prototype and (You) facing it in a mech over the ruins of the facility whilst buttrock is playing?
That’d be a lame ending, I’d rather prefer something more tense than just running around in some cargo mech trying to defeat the prototype himself.
For now I think Chapter 4 starting off with finding/mourning Kissy Missy is most likely. Chapter 5 would continue from there once we find the actual antagonist or see him and confront him. I won’t be saying that there’s no boss fight, just that a mech running around the facility is a bit silly.

Catnap > Huggy Wuggy: Catnap's gas would quickly affect the blue giant who only has close range options, Catnap also has steel claws and is equally as fast as Huggy so could likely shred him up in a fight anyways.
Mommy > Catnap: Mommy is able to counter Catnap's gas by attacking from out of it's range with her long limbs. She is incredibly strong and able to smash through concrete walls so she could probably get a hold of his throat and just snap his neck or choke him out from ambush.
Huggy > Mommy: Huggy's very long limbs and boneless body would make him more resistant to Mommy's attacks and he is strong enough to grab hold of her arms and reel her in to bite and stomp, she would have her hands full with him and likely would lose.

Nah people don't realize that Catnap up until being electrocuted was just playing and toying with the player the whole time. He slowly stalks you and stares you down, he lives for the hunt and draws it out for fun. Look at how fast Catnap moves when he snatches up the Bunzo (kek), he could have done that to the PC at any time

It's hard to say right now. In Chapter 2 they made Poppy come off as evil towards the end which they completely backtracked on in this one. We'll probably be able to figure out his motivations whenever 4 comes out.
It was a bit of both. CatNap had plenty of moments he could have killed you, but instead put you into dangerous situations, possibly to test you and see what you were capable of. He could have easily killed you during the first gassing scene, but DogDay's voice when he tells you to 'Get Up' manages to keep you lucid enough to avoid him at the cost of DogDay's legs. Hell in the Playcare he could have easily killed you, but instead ordered you to leave.
The fact that he decides not to kill you as many times as he did tells me that the Prototype wanted to test you and kept CatNap on a short leash to make sure it happened.

We don't really know how close the Bigger Bodies were with each other, especially CatNap. DogDay calls him a "thing".

But with how Dogday considers himself the last of the Smiling Critters, as if the title means something, implies to me that he was close with the other critters, probably by BBI design, and might have even been close with Catnap or at least tried to be. The kids liked catnap so they probably got along fine until shit hit the fan and catnap showed his hand
I think is silly to assume the other critters didn't participate in the hour of joy in some capacity. I'm pretty sure they were tired of being slaves too. Kissy also opposes the Prototype in the game but we see her participating in the masacre too.
As of now we don't know. It could simply be a case of Mob being lazy and not wanting to make more models, or not all the toys participated. For now we don't know. I hope that we see more HOJ footage in Chapter 4. DogDay saying they were trying to fight the Prototype's control is interesting, like as if maybe they were forced to do things against their will like some sort of Borg hivemind.

I really wish we could have learned more about DogDay and the other Critters. Even if it was just via random notes found throughout the game. The Counsellor's office is so empty, it would have been a perfect exposition/lore dump area. You could tell they were running out of time in that level.

Coulda also been done with environmental storytelling. Like, as an example, stakes with Bubba's (for blaspheming the savior) and Kickin's (for attempting to escape) heads on them.
Note that Kissy also goes back to lying in the same position after killing all the guards. She doesn't perpetuate the slaughter or start roaming around killing anyone else after killing her immediate tormentors.
I don't see it discussed anywhere but here, but that's definitely DogDay's room CatNap was using. The bed shape, color and the big balls in it. Which means DogDay wasn't locked up and had freeroam around Playcare which is interesting. Clearly he was very docile for a Bigger Body.

No! I meant when Playcare was operating normally. Look at "CatNap's" room again. Look at the bed, balls and shape. That was DogDay's room that CatNap later took. Now look at how there's no cameras, locks or anything. They let DogDay do whatever he wanted in Playcare. He wasn't locked up like CatNap was (per his VHS "you belong in this prison")
The brainwashing of the other critters was clearly way more effective than it was on CatNap, which might explain why the staff trusted the critters enough to let them be caretakers and not treat them like prisoners. They started as almost perfect replicas of the cartoon characters and only diverged due to age and Hour of Joy trauma. Kissy and Huggy were way more unstable and were treated as weapons, and Mommy Longlegs might have been good at hiding her intentions
That, along with CatNap retaining a lot of his old mind, is probably why there is a lot more spite against him compared to the others

as for your first part of your post, I agree.
Using VAs as any kind of clue won't work, as a lot of people pull double duty in this series. Avalon has 5 characters, Nola Klop has 3 in this chapter, and almost everyone else with a role has a minimum of 2 parts not including The Prototype who everyone helped voice.

I'm hoping for a big time Chapter 3 update myself. There's plenty of little things they could add, even just some notes. They can milk Chapter 3 a little longer instead of bumrushing to 4. People are still going wild over the Critters.

Theo CatNap was originally described as shy and gentle during the "normal" years in Playcare. He only became the way he was as his mind started to slip as the staff continued to abuse him and others, as we saw in his VHS tape and the Prototype's. Theo clearly retained a lot of his human memories too as the scientist even refers to him by that name, so he's at least as intelligent as Poppy, DogDay and Mommy.
Like if someone managed to come along and save all the toys before the Hour of Joy, and give them a decent life in bad circumstances, I doubt he would have ever hurt anybody. But he, and many others, simply had enough of being tormented by the devils that made them that way.
Obviously 10 years after that his mind is even further deteriorated, probably due in part by him seemingly starving himself. Though he's skinny in the HOJ VHS too, so who knows. He doesn't seem to eat any of the little toys, besides maybe Bunzo, but you can see the remains of plenty of toys he's killed in Playcare.
The key was that he also slaughtered anyone who didn't fall in line with the Prototype's demands, which had become more deranged and violent compared to the original plan of escape. This included the Smiling Critters who just wanted to escape and died for it
Kissy wasn't shown doing any damage that wasn't necessary for escape, like taking out the guards that had her locked down, compared to the other BBIs we saw that were focused on purging rather than running away. I am pretty sure the Critters were on that same wavelength and did probably kill a few guards, but only if they were a threat to them.
Though Crafty or Piggy might have gotten bloodthirsty too, hard to tell

I think the Prototype itself might have killed at least Kickin and Bubba. If we're going by Ollie, he would kill us before we ever got out the door. Which is weird cause we haven't seen the Prototype kill anything, just take corpses. So who knows. Ollie's been wrong before.
