I've spent fricking days searching for boars in this fricking game, actual days traversing all the map, cordon, garbage, dark valley, etc and 0 boars. Jesus fricking Christ getting the boar's leg is impossible, I've already found like 5 flesh eyes, 3 pseudodog tails and 10k worth of artifacts.
But I'm wasting hours of my day just looking for boars and when I find one after 3 hours it doesn't have the fricking leg on it.
I used to find this thing every second and now that I'm on a mission there aren't any fricking insane dude. I haven't failed a single mission and I'm halfway through the game but I'm just tired of this shit, I'll just give up on it, it's impossible, hardest mission of all this game.

Is this series a meme? What's so good about it and which one is objectively the best?
Shadow of Chernobyl > Call of Pripyat > Clear Sky
No it's not a meme they are great. Definitely not retro though lol.
By defintion 20 years ago is retro
It's actually quite good, I'm enjoying most of it but being unable to move fast thorough out the map is insufferable. I wish there was a quick travel feature or something.
There's also the fact that secondary missions are usually like this and they'll give you crap and maybe 2500 rubles when the ammo for your rifle alone costs like 600 so you buy it 3 along a couple medkits and pistol ammo and there, you're out of money.
Only way of getting a decent amount is by doing the main missions but even then it'd still be nice if there was a way to make money without making fast progress or giving out unique artifacts you only find one or two times in the entire game.
I'm also severly autistic about failing shit on videogames so I'll keep playing for weeks looking for a boar without success I guess.
Which is why you should have the item, before you accept the task. Or not bother, and just sell guns, artifacts, and whatnot.
ZRP alone is good enough. Once tried a combo of that and 1.0008, and it felt like it wasn't running that well with both.
A meme would be Deus Ex
STALKER is an FPS with RPG mechanics. You don't have to keep doing sidequests if you don't want to, there's no stats to level up. Even then, youu can easily tell the fetch/hunt quests from the actually unique ones.
It's all about exploring, not about 100%ing it.
Frick this I give up for today, I must've killed like 16 after 4 hours and I couldn't get a leg.
I'll limit myself to one hour per day, I'm not wasting more than that, I'll give it just one more week then I'll voluntarily fail it.
OP, literally NO secondary mission in STALKER is worth doing. Unless you specifically have the item they are asking for on-hand and need the extra money that badly, there is no reason to accept one. You can make far more money with far less effort just getting into a fight and harvesting goods off of the dead. Ammo, medical supplies, grenades, all light-weight and sell for good money. If you aren't playing Anomoly or similar, the guns can get you decent cash as well, though they will eat up a lot more of your weight limit.
Real talk: What's the best ShoC setup for a first-timer that's going to be entirely single-player?
-Patch 1.0005
-Unofficial Patch 1.0008
-Zone Reclamation Project
Or some combination thereof?
I just played vanilla when it came out and thought it was great.
ZRP and that's it, I also enabled the beta from Steam so I could get vsync to work (have a shitty laptop and need to limit the fps) patch 1.0008 breaks vsync but it improves mouse movement on menus and also adds numbers to choices so you can use your keyboard to select them. That's all I could saw from it
I replayed it for the first time since 2007 with just ZRP. Last few areas are pure trash.
Just came to say that I finally managed to get that fricking boar's leg. Never again doing secondary missions just like you guys said.
>Never again doing secondary missions
There are some cool ones though. Some will grant you upgraded weapons you can't buy or find on any stashes/dead enemies, some offer exciting side plots, and some catch you by surprise.
The secret is to collect these parts beforehand and take missions only when you have needed items on you.
Generally it's not worth it, especially randomly given missions when you enter locations. But some are good like killing bloodsuckers for the hunter, or killing master stalker, you'll get good artifacts.
Their green suit is really great
RUN MARKED ONE ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE AAAAAAAah
Sorry to hear that anon, it does sound boaring.
frick off back to Ganker homosexual
My go to mod in the old days was oblivion list. What's the best way to go nowadays if I just want to live in the zone?
If you want to live in the zone, best way is going to Pripyat and picking one of the empty apartments for yourself.
My issue with secondary missions is that you have to fulfill them AND return for your reward within a time limit, so if I take on a mission at the starting zone or anywhere else, but it requires me to walk multiple kilometers away to an area where I have main quests to do anyway, I have to make sure I walk all the way back before time runs out, regardless of whether I still have things to do in the area I ventured to in the first place. It would be far less stressful if the timer stopped after the mission was actually completed, allowing you to collect the reward at your leisure.
