Yoko Taro is a fucking idiot as he tries too hard to connect all the games he worked on together into some convoluted mess that makes absolutely no sense at all that pulls random bullshit out of his ass, and we have retards eating that shit like it was planned all along as he was some mastermind, he should had just kept the series separate don't even bother trying to figure out the story/lore
No, he's a fucking idiot because he doesn't make the games more explicitly connected in the first place. The connection between DG1 and Nier is just about perfect, while DG3 -> DG1 and Nier -> Automata are varying degrees of shitshow.
I feel like Taro wants to make a completely different game but goes "oh wait I want it to relate to my other games" like how do you go from fantasy magic n dragons to scifi future apocalyptic robots and while you're at it have some aliens. Sad thing is that Kaine is a great character in the first place and the hermaphrodite thing only gets alluded to later. But, because we're deep into identity politics polarized retardation and OP is not immune to propaganda and addicted to Google, we get this thread instead.
Im over 20 hours in, the Aerie just got obliterated and i dont get the hype. Yes, everhting looks super clean, is quick, but where Nier:Automata had the godlike world-building and pacing that helped you over some tedious (optional) quests, this game is so pale and boring.
There is no robot city, no carnival, no post-apoc serenity,there is no Yorha, there is no sentimental machines, no looming super AI, no coomer bait. Its tries everything that Nier:A had, but boring to the max. And the combat is so fuckign dull, atleast Automata had double weapon combos. I will finish it, but none of the characters is memorable. Meanwhile, Automata is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

That's funny, having played Nier first I have the exact opposite opinion. Nier's world felt much more coherent and sidequests always came with some neat little rewards like more Weiss dialogue.
In contrast, Automata's world-building is at best setting up for a payoff that never comes, at worst cool for the sake of cool. All these different settings are harping on and on and on about the exact same theme of machines imitating humans without understanding them. It gets old and stale after the second time. It feels so lifeless and pointless that I sided with 9S the first time around, since the whole game world IS indeed meaningless and one-note. Even the ending C documents agree with that.
Those aren't presented as positive things in the narrative.
