The point is that you visit a volcano and enter the cave at the bottom and then you fucking teleport to the top, not if there's a volcano in the region or not.

Because there was content there before SM stripped its own identity for Z-Moves and Yokai pandering. This was supposed to be a gym and it literally was until the debugging phase where they decided they could get out of making unique assets by doing trials.
Gen 7 is a fucking tragedy and it's a shame Gen 8 went down the same path instead of course correcting to at least where Gen 6 had us.
