I’m about a half hour away. Been there three times total. Although the past two times, I mainly played Mr. Driller G. My other two favorite games I played there were Atomic Punk 2 (aka Bomberman World) and Ninja Baseball Batman (co-op with cousin on that one).
Think there’s a Round One that’s about a 10 minute drive from Galloping Ghost, but I haven’t been there yet.

Are you talking about the old models for both SDVX and IIDX being decommissioned? I think that's because they can't upgrade the older IIDX cabs to run Epolis and the old SDVX cabs are extremely restricted in the US compared to the Valkyrie cabs.

At least DDR is getting fricked by Stepmaniax in the US right now. The only one left near me is in a D&B, and I heard they're ending their deal with Konami and rolling out SMX machines. Not a fan of SMX' song list, but anything that might teach old JP businesses a lesson is good imo.

Nothing will teach them a lesson. The US profits are absolutely minuscule compared to the JP profits. And that's not even considering that arcade profits are also a tiny percentage of Konami's overall profits.

Look for private arcades near you, much better experience than R1 imo. Sometimes they list on the zenius-i-vanisher map as "appointment only" but I've been to 3 and they were all very open about times, even visiting same day, and they're totally free play with entry fee or a donation request. The only downside is that they close down to bring machines to events pretty often and they usually have a smaller selection since it's just someone's personal collection.

DUDE i just LOVE the hustle and bustle of the big city, it’s so DYNAMIC and makes me feel like i’m in one of my favourite TV SHOWS. you should totally come on down to my studio apartment, it’s got EXPOSED RED BRICK walls and everything, we can crack open a nice hoppy ipa or three and get crazy watching some cartoons on adult swim! and dude, dude, DUDE, we have GOTTA go down to the barcade- listen here, right, it’s a BAR where us ADULTS who do ADULTING can go DRINK. BUT!!!! it’s also an ARCADE like when we were kids, so we can play awesome VIDEO GAMES, without dumb kids bothering us. speaking of which megan and i have finally decided to tie the knot- literally -we’re both getting snipped tomorrow at the hospital, that way we can save money to spent more on ourselves and our FURBABIES. i’m frickin JACKED man, i’m gonna SLAM this craft beer and pop open another one!!!

Round 1 is mediocre by me (south Florida) and I basically only go there to play Beatmania, Sound Voltex, and Wacca. They really need more actual games on the floor.
I'll see people go to the cranes (they're less hyper-scammy than the usual setups since you can generally manipulate the target even when the arms aren't holding at full power, but they're still expensive and scammy), but no one fricks with the redemption machines beyond like one or two.
The fighting games and NESiCA arcade cabinets are too fricking expensive per credit by a lot, so I can't just sit with my buddies and pump a bunch of money in because I could be playing Beatmania for ten minutes for the same price instead of getting like a minute and a half per round in a fighting game.
I've seen this shit go down a lot, where places have high costs per credit and then no one fricking plays instead of pumping money into the machine.

Most barcades I've seen kinda suck and don't maintain shit.
There's Arcade Odyssey down in Miami that has a bar but doesn't focus on it, it's fricking amazing there but it's just too far to go regularly.

Nothin wrong with Music Diver but yeah the abundance of purely UFOs is concerning. Also RIP USA Round 1s that have been decomissioning Beatmanias for whatever reason. I really wish IIDX wasent exclusive in location to just a few places

it's literally just the old cabinets that have to connect to Japanese e-Amusement instead of the network Konami (apparently) runs just for R1 and I think D&B

At least DDR is getting fricked by Stepmaniax in the US right now. The only one left near me is in a D&B, and I heard they're ending their deal with Konami and rolling out SMX machines. Not a fan of SMX' song list, but anything that might teach old JP businesses a lesson is good imo.

God, I need to find an SMX cab.

Nothing will teach them a lesson. The US profits are absolutely minuscule compared to the JP profits. And that's not even considering that arcade profits are also a tiny percentage of Konami's overall profits.

      Nothing will change

I hope nip arcade operators just fricking buy SMX. If I had an alternative to IIDX, I'd probably never touch a Konami product again.

I was really excited about a “new gaming place” opening up near where I live. It’s a small but busy college town, and yeah I could drive an hour into the city to go to Dave and Busters, but I wanted to see something smaller and more local to support. Anyways it’s actually a cafe/bar I guess that’s for tabletop gaming. Sucks but maybe they’ll do MTG or fighting game locals or something.

if it's almost any kind of tabletop store, MtG will be their main income source
you need to have a pretty developed tabletop scene in your city to have stores that DON'T rest on that, i live in/next to one and there's a whole two out of a dozen
