if you think about it for a second, it's extremely obvious that the console industry is having a serious priblem, when it comes to the time it takes to make a game. games take an entire console generation to make now, five or six years. no one's going to buy a console only to be told to wait five years while the devs make their games for it, but that's where we're at now, nonetheless. and it will be even worse in the future.
Sonic Superstars would have sold 10x as much if it launched at half the price. Only Nintendo can get away with releasing a 2D platformer at full price nowadays, anyone else is practically guaranteeing a flop.
What were they expecting? Mania sold only 1 million and Superstars sold 2 million with $60-$30 price. Classic 2d games don't sell anymore, they shouldn't have expected Frontiers numbers.
Also this report reads like an excuse to lay off people
That’s actually pretty good. Not to mention it probably didn’t cost a lot to make. Not sure why they’d see this as bad unless they had some crazy expectation the game was gonna sell 10 million or somethings
>2 million on a 2D Sonic isn’t good enough
What the frick was the budget for this thing? Reminder that Yoshi’s Crafted World sold 1 million and was deemed a success
2d side scrollers have never sold that well, to begin with. a sidescroller selling a mill is extremely impressive. the problem is just that it costs a ton of money to just make simple sidescrollers now. now, even a sidescroller game is considered a failure if it doesn't sell ten million copies in the first week.
That doesn't work when games cost 60 bucks a piece. I am a huge sonic gay, and I bought Mario over Sonic because I know Sonic would be going on sale quick. And I was right. Bought it for 20 bucks last week.
A "Barbenheimer" effect would be something like that Doom/Animal Crossing meme from the pandemic.
It doesn't work if both things are the exact same genre, one will just cannibalize the other.
It may have been a media push that made it a thing, but according to that same media, the "coincidental" shared release date made it a kind of ironic pairing for homosexuals with nothing better to do than watch two films in one day.
im not gonna buy chrischan archieshit tier 3d sonic heroes that plays like 2D
maybe a Mania 2, Generations 2 or a Sonic 1 complete reboot could help
Keep the 4 classic characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy) and stop going full autismo, delete Rouge, Shadow, white Sonic and the chaotix Black folk. Keep Amy out of the fights, It's not her paper, throw that toy hammer into the trash. Be fricking classic, that's what it sells.
you know what i would hav done, if i was the supreme ruler of japan? i would have murdered every single criminal in japan. the japs would be able to breathe a sigh of relief and be able to sleep safely, knowing that i was protecting them from the criminal scum. but guys like me aren't allowed to be in charge anymore. we're big old meanies.

The 2 week delay and adding Sonic 1 as part of the app package to game Steam's refund system was some absolutely heinous shit, and the SEGA person who managed the Steam comments essentially put all the authentication issues on the devs.
>have Sonic 1 already >the "free" Sonic 1 ends up in my inventory >after many attempts finally get Mania refunded and the extra Sonic 1 copy removed
I've never heard if anyone, who didn't already own Sonic 1, got a refund. But yeah, Sega can go frick themselves still.
I did, but I bought a key through BundleStars and had argue with them to get a refund.
Both Mania and Sonic 1 sat in my library until eventually the activation was automatically revoked about 4 months later.
Because it was mid as holy fricking shit, and releasing it the same week as Mario Wonder only highlighted that fact. I never even got the true ending, because it was too much of a slog. (Finish the game once, get all the chaos emeralds, then play through the whole game again, but harder).

>If you want "Sonic, but Yakuza" fine, but that's not even what Sonic Adventure was.
you missed my point chao garden was a fun minigame that you could play to refresh your pallet after doing lots of levels it was the inclusion of the mini game was a good idea was my point.
Like, if they called Frontiers, "Sonic Adventure 3", would people have been satisfied, or would they have been like "frick off, that isn't Sonic Adventure!"?
What is Sonic Adventure?
'06 does have a lot of what was shared between adventure 1 and 2 >multiple playable characters >the same story seen through multiple vantage points >takes place in a somewhat realistic world populated by humans >all life on earth is at stake, not just eggman conquering it >unlockable upgrades incentivize replaying levels
what's different? well what's chiefly different is that '06 sucks huge balls to play because basic game mechanics do not reliably work and it runs like cold molasses.
another thing is that you frequently swap characters mid level by force, which cheapens playing as them compared to the adventure games. while heroes often required switching characters for certain objectives, it was up to the player to do it. switching characters in '06 is more like a chore. while you could argue the same about the adventure games, characters were given entire levels tailored to how they play differently, and the result was higher quality.
if 06' had more time in the oven and worked correctly, it'd still be maligned, but more like how heroes and shadow are, instead of being regarded as one of the worst games ever made.

SA3 should have all the gameplay elements of SA2.
It should be overwhelmingly speed level based for Sonic and probably Shadow.
Don't make the mistake of 2 and overload it on Knuckles and Tails levels, but keep it minimal and well crafted. They can be fun it done well.
Maybe replace Tails with Silver, or give him his own gameplay style, idk.
Chao Garden obviously.
Each stage should have multiple objectives to revisit and S-rank for the autismos.
Hub world I can take it or leave it.
>It should be overwhelmingly speed level based for Sonic and probably Shadow.
They did that for two games (heroes/shadow) and everyone complained.
Mostly because the people that whine about muh other characters don't fricking play sanic games.
the problem is not the characters themselves but the style of gameplay. those games obviously piss people off because they have frequent and prolonged combat that takes away from the fast-paced platforming gameplay.
the logical takeaway from people playing the adventure games and saying "i like the sonic and shadow parts" should be that they like how those levels were designed, and not that they simply want to play as sonic or shadow while still engaging in slow and cumbersome combat with large groups of enemies.
You know how in old 2D Sonic games there was the “upper”, “middle”, and “lower” paths on purely horizontal levels, with the top rewarding speed and precision and the bottom penalizing poor performance? Do you also remember how everyone hated Labyrinth Zones and Marble Zones but continually suck(ed) off Flying Battery? There is a specific kind of play styles that work with speed characters. Heroes and ‘06 ain’t them, bud.
it should've been $30 base price, no denuvo (people pirate it day 1 by emulating the switch version anyway), and tell senoue "look, we love ya, but change the fricking soundfont PLEASE"
game would still have flaws but those are like the easiest things to fix
You know maybe the sales wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't have an overly convoluted packaging scheme.
Or denuvo.
Which tons of people every time a new sonic game comes out say they don't want denuvo.
it's a larger problem with sega that they're pushing on all their games, and to a slightly lesser extent, something the whole industry is pushing. corpos think not having day-one DLC, a digital deluxe edition, and DRM, is all leaving easy money on the table.
i am very sure many of the people who bought sonic superstars are morons who did in fact already have it installed from another game, and didn't notice until playing sonic, yes.
buying the game at launch on steam is not setting a high bar for intelligence.
japanese players dont complain, its only westerners. SoA literally has no control over that shit other than sending feedback to SoJ which may or may not be looked at.
SoJ doesnt care about western fan feedback. imagine if you made a game and a bunch of brazilians started screeching in portuguese about some perceived flaw that none of the english players cared about. thats how sega (and literally every other japanese dev) sees western fans.
i said, SoA has no control over whether denuvo gets removed from games. they dont put it in. SoA basically exists for PR and localization. they rarely even develop their own games anymore.
Firstly, who would've thought your big nostalgia "revival" Sonic game shouldn't have been released next to the Mario game that did the same thing but better
Secondly >Endless Dungeon
The frick is this? >It's another western shit indie dungeon defense game
For fricks sakes Sega, this isn't the early 2010s anymore. You aren't going to win over western audiences this way
>>mfw when sonicbabs realize that their franchise doesn't make half of sega's profit
what does sega even do now there last good game was Valkyria Chronicles all the way back in 2008
how much? it wasnt even being made by SoJ, it was a side project by creative assembly/sega europe. SoJ didn't even know of it's existence (typical sega lack of communication) and shut it down because they knew it would be a flop.
do you guys call anything from sega that isnt yakuza or sonic "the super game"? NGS is almost 3 years old already. the super game is supposed to come out later this decade.
That's not their super game, moron, that was already out by the time they announced they were doing that. You just want to b***h about PSO2, don't you?
>makes mediocre game >launches it prior to two of the year's biggest releases, despite announcing the release date last
Wow, no way Superstars sold bad!
>Literally how is Sega even still alive?
connections every time the ceo fricks up and bankrupts the company they pass it on to there rich friend to save it
>Sega is in troubkle.
Today ends in y, there is still oxygen in the atmosphere >connections every time the ceo fricks up and bankrupts the company they pass it on to there rich friend to save it
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isao_Okawa
Gives them the money to make the Dreamcast, dying will forgives all their debt to you and gives them your $700 million dollars worth of stock
They own Atlus.
And they put out like three Yakuza games a year that do well.
Only Sonic fans think Sega lives or dies on the back of Sonic. They barely care about it.
All I'm saying is look at the effort that goes into Yakuza games, and then look at Sonic, and it feels like they would rather not be making Sonic at all.
I think they just shit it out because there's a particular audience who will buy it regardless.
They 100% hate that the West loves Sonic. They hate Evans and Flynn and Fowler and Hess. They think every single Westerner is either a Penders or a Chris-chan. They are more like Ganker than Ganker wants to admit; once Sonic got overwhelmingly popular, Sega turned on the franchise.
Yakuza has iterated itself into a well oiled machine where they can flip out a new title quickly while Sonic reinvents the wheel every other game because ST is basically a bunch of interns led by a suit.
My take is the few gachas they got going with the occasional multimedia stuff they release still keeps them afloat. While games is one thing, there is just other things that they dipped their hands into to keep them going somehow.
What I want to know is which IPs would other companies take if Sega falls and what IPs will just get permanently buried.
>make followup to Sonic Mania >but this time it’s co-developed by the same people behind greatest hits like Yoshi’s New Island and Balan Wonderworld >but this time it has some synth music by the legendary composer of Sonic 4 >but this time it’s triple the price of Mania >but this time it has Denuvo on it from the start whereas Mania had already gotten rid of it by then
Someone at Sega, even if they were a low-class janitor, surely saw this fate coming.
What percentage of those sales were local, and what percentage was global? If the West made the most purchases of Frontiers, then Sega views it as a total loss.
ca needs to stop with those small-time games of theirs, they suck ass and no one wants to have anything to do with them. it's grand scale or frick off, everyone knows this.
Really the only thing it guarantees is alienating people that would have otherwise bought something.
People that would have bought a game that has denuvo would have bought regardless.
On one hand, it's unfortunate that Sega is in this position.
On the other hand, I admit that it's been satisfying to see Superstars struggle critically and commercially after people were insisting that it was just as good as Mania.
Bought Superstars for $60 and it was trash, game then got discounted to $30 few weeks later further pissing me off. It's sad too since I really enjoyed Frontiers. At least I know Sonic x Shadow should be good as its just a remaster of Generations with extra Shadow content.
I didn't beat superstars or even play wonder but COME ON
MY FIRST SONIC THESIS IS THUS:
evidence of the following:
1.SONIC GAMES, ALL OF THEM, ARE ABOUT STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE. COOL HEDGEHOG IN UNFINISHED GAME X INFINITY (SEGA seal of approval)
2.MARIO GAMES, ALL OF THEM, ARE ABOUT SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE. FAT PLUMBER WHO IS UNCOOL DOES COOL THINGS IN FINISHED GAME, no matter the cost= (Nintendo)
3.DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU CONSIDER FUN, YOU MAY ENJOY EITHER SONIC, MARIO, OR BOTH! OR NEITHER! (I recommend mischeif makers but thats another post)
my very first Ganker was sonic CD for windows 98
despite the strange metagame jankiness of sonic CD, (all those special stages, get all time stones, and it do nothing.)
Has sonic anything but janky?
Its about quality oversight. Sega feels good, because it's like, If Ganker were a family dinner:
Honor roll dad Nintendo got yet another AAA, yawn,
SONY Mom is strangling final fantasy dinner praying to god it breaks bank
Older brother Sega just did cocaine in the bathroom and came up with a new idea: Sonic Shitterz, you run along the bathroom bowl.
(btw SEGA you want mirrion dorra idea? SONIC MMO VR. The autism and running in place will pay for itself.)
Younger brother XBOX could care less, he got enough money from other shit to give a frick a bout vidya.
so yeah if you love sonic, you love the janky, cus lets be honest sonic works better as a movie series anyways. (JOKES)
If you actually like structure, consistency and fairness, play mario. If you wanna LARP as a NoiDeD 5kx the vulpix rat then OBVIOUSLY play sonic and use your latent autism to fill in the gaping gameplay holes. Frick (you) very much, red barrel. (and right before ice cap, crime against humanity)
>do weak sales last year >declare an anti-harassment campaign against your own customers earlier this year
Sega just doing what Sega always does. It's really amazing that they are still in business at this point. They don't have another millionaire that will donate his life savings when he dies this time around.
NGS wasn't their super game and, according to the same financial reports, is still propping up the entire company. The "super game" still hasn't been revealed.
The game has PS4/PS5/Xbone/Series players, something like 10x those numbers in Japan, and they're all whaling on little skirts and hair ribbons more than you can imagine. Bringing it up as a "failure" is ignorance, because it is still actively printing enough money to fund every single failure that SEGA keeps dumping out.
If we all buy the game on Amazon! We can save SEGA
FOUR years into gen 9 and the entire industry is going
>why is our full priced gen 8 game not selling??? we specifically said it's AAAAA+
low all these games are late gen 6 games at best
complete stagnation gameplay wise and worse art style but more hardware power
This is literally an Xbox 360 arcade looking title.
if you think about it for a second, it's extremely obvious that the console industry is having a serious priblem, when it comes to the time it takes to make a game. games take an entire console generation to make now, five or six years. no one's going to buy a console only to be told to wait five years while the devs make their games for it, but that's where we're at now, nonetheless. and it will be even worse in the future.
Sonic Superstars would have sold 10x as much if it launched at half the price. Only Nintendo can get away with releasing a 2D platformer at full price nowadays, anyone else is practically guaranteeing a flop.
Dunno if 10x more peole would've bought it, but that's definitely why I didn't buy the game. The price's way too high for what it is.
What were they expecting? Mania sold only 1 million and Superstars sold 2 million with $60-$30 price. Classic 2d games don't sell anymore, they shouldn't have expected Frontiers numbers.
Also this report reads like an excuse to lay off people
Mania sold more than 1 million in 2018 you fricking moron, It's probably more than 2 at this point.
>Superstars sold 2 million
That’s actually pretty good. Not to mention it probably didn’t cost a lot to make. Not sure why they’d see this as bad unless they had some crazy expectation the game was gonna sell 10 million or somethings
They probably thought it would sell 3 million in a month like Frontiers did, which is dumb.
Again, the fact that they grouped garbage bin games like Pharaoh in the list reads like an excuse to cut staff like the rest of the industry is doing.
>2 million on a 2D Sonic isn’t good enough
What the frick was the budget for this thing? Reminder that Yoshi’s Crafted World sold 1 million and was deemed a success
It peaked lower than fricking Forces on Steam, there's no way it sold more than Mania
2d side scrollers have never sold that well, to begin with. a sidescroller selling a mill is extremely impressive. the problem is just that it costs a ton of money to just make simple sidescrollers now. now, even a sidescroller game is considered a failure if it doesn't sell ten million copies in the first week.
2D Sonic would sell like hot meals in the Arctic if they'd just make a good one for once.
reminder that sega had the bright idea to launch sonic superstars during the same week as mario wonder
They were 100% hoping for a "Barbenheimer" moment.
That doesn't work when games cost 60 bucks a piece. I am a huge sonic gay, and I bought Mario over Sonic because I know Sonic would be going on sale quick. And I was right. Bought it for 20 bucks last week.
do you feel like a smart shopper having paid 20 bucks for sonic 4 episode 3? it's really not worth more than 5 bucks or so.
Smarter than the people who paid full price for it.
>sonic 4 episode 3
You have zero clue on what you're talking about. It's easy to pirate it, so go play it for the first time.
A "Barbenheimer" effect would be something like that Doom/Animal Crossing meme from the pandemic.
It doesn't work if both things are the exact same genre, one will just cannibalize the other.
was barbenheimer actually a thing or something pushed by the media? i have a hard time believing there's that much of an audience overlap.
It may have been a media push that made it a thing, but according to that same media, the "coincidental" shared release date made it a kind of ironic pairing for homosexuals with nothing better to do than watch two films in one day.

Yeah, that's what they did for Superstars and it flopped
It flopped cause the game is flawed and overpriced.
>Keep the 4 classic characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy)
no, just sonic. that's what people actually want.
Shut the frick moronic mongoloid homosexual
Don't worry, Yakuza will save them

Clearly its just furry shit that doesnt sell anymore.
That’s the problem though. Sega is completely dependent on RGG and Atlus
why do they keep doubling down on wokeness even through it goes against their own economical interest?
They're talking about their latest Q3 releases, dumb-dumb.
they made a "V2" that launched in Q3 and it flopped you double moron.
millions down the drain and hundreds of employees jobs about to be lost. phantasy star crew has larger credits than ffxiv team.

How fricking stupid are they
always funny to see normalgays ask a corpo to "just" do something time consuming and expensive with ample room to frick up, as if it were dead simple, with no consideration of how it would be done.
I'm sure rereleasing good games is cheaper than developing shit games
would've bought it if they hadn't put denuvo on it ¯_(ツ)_/¯
same with frontiers
>not even mentioning hyena’s
OH NO NO NO
>go woke
>???
>issue financial warning
lol
Alright Sega. Just sell CA and the Total War IP to Microsoft. They're the only people who could easily afford the Heyenas debt.
Can anyone explain why Endless Dungeon had more marketing for any Sega game in the last 10 years?
Hmm, let's see
>Hands it to a dev that people know have shit quality
>Make the game "classic"
>Make it possible to play it in multiplayer, but don't do anything with level design to facilitate it
>Use Taxman's engine, but don't let him and Headcannon develop it, basically giving a big middle finger to the community

Everyone, shit's dead and bleeding several millions.
Frick you Tim. apple beat you. seethe and cry b***h piggy
this should be banned. and with all other accounts too
Where's the source for 2 million sales for Superstars? I really doubt they'd be complaining if it sold such numbers.
I didn't even know that Sonic Superstars was a thing. Where was the advertising, Sega????
it's heavily marketed on...cable TV channels for children. besides that you'd have to follow game news and care about new games, i guess.
lol who still watches TV? They should have advertised on Steam or YouTube.
>I didn't even know that Sonic Superstars was a thing. Where was the advertising, Sega????

What did they think would happen?
All they need to do is make Sonic Adventure 3 and they'd make a bazillion dollars
>m-muh Sonic 06
Frick off. Sonic 06 is not Sonic Adventure 3. If it were, it would be fricking called Sonic Adventure 3.
Sonic Unleashed is also called Sonic World Adventure.
So what do you want from SA 3 that 06 didn't offer?

Why don't you play Palworld? It's better.

If Sonic games were good they'd sell well.
it should've been $30 base price, no denuvo (people pirate it day 1 by emulating the switch version anyway), and tell senoue "look, we love ya, but change the fricking soundfont PLEASE"
game would still have flaws but those are like the easiest things to fix
You know maybe the sales wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't have an overly convoluted packaging scheme.
Or denuvo.
Which tons of people every time a new sonic game comes out say they don't want denuvo.
it's a larger problem with sega that they're pushing on all their games, and to a slightly lesser extent, something the whole industry is pushing. corpos think not having day-one DLC, a digital deluxe edition, and DRM, is all leaving easy money on the table.
Also I forgot, this game also installed the epic game store on your computer even if you got it via steam.
it installs epic online services, not the entire store. tons of games use it and you likely installed it without realizing it.
>Um this thing that pisses everyone off, well actually it's in everything and just nobody noticed
Man shut your b***h ass up
i am very sure many of the people who bought sonic superstars are morons who did in fact already have it installed from another game, and didn't notice until playing sonic, yes.
buying the game at launch on steam is not setting a high bar for intelligence.
japanese players dont complain, its only westerners. SoA literally has no control over that shit other than sending feedback to SoJ which may or may not be looked at.
but apparently they have enough influence to directly affect RGG games during development
funny how that works
SoJ doesnt care about western fan feedback. imagine if you made a game and a bunch of brazilians started screeching in portuguese about some perceived flaw that none of the english players cared about. thats how sega (and literally every other japanese dev) sees western fans.
but you also said they don't listen to SoA
to which I repeat
i said, SoA has no control over whether denuvo gets removed from games. they dont put it in. SoA basically exists for PR and localization. they rarely even develop their own games anymore.
People buy games because of the drm. You homosexuals wouldn't buy anything if denuvo didn't exist.
Pirates gonna pirate, the only people affected by DRM are paying customers, and discerning consumers who refuse to buy because of it.
It's the opposite actually, Shitnuvo MALWARE is a buyer's repellent.
Firstly, who would've thought your big nostalgia "revival" Sonic game shouldn't have been released next to the Mario game that did the same thing but better
Secondly
>Endless Dungeon
The frick is this?
>It's another western shit indie dungeon defense game
For fricks sakes Sega, this isn't the early 2010s anymore. You aren't going to win over western audiences this way
>mfw when sonicbabs realize that their franchise doesn't make half of sega's profit
>>mfw when sonicbabs realize that their franchise doesn't make half of sega's profit
what does sega even do now there last good game was Valkyria Chronicles all the way back in 2008
homie yakuza 8 came out and it's great, stop living under a rock.
So are they just not going to mention the hundreds of millions they burned on Hyenas?
hyenas wasnt the super game
They still wasted a lot of money on it
how much? it wasnt even being made by SoJ, it was a side project by creative assembly/sega europe. SoJ didn't even know of it's existence (typical sega lack of communication) and shut it down because they knew it would be a flop.
From the results google gave me, seems the budget was 90-100 million. Also touted as Sega's biggest budget game to date.
wrong, it was one of them. sega wasn't saving up for just one super game, it was saving up for several.
do you guys call anything from sega that isnt yakuza or sonic "the super game"? NGS is almost 3 years old already. the super game is supposed to come out later this decade.
That's not their super game, moron, that was already out by the time they announced they were doing that. You just want to b***h about PSO2, don't you?
tbdesu, taking an opportunity to b***h about PSO2 is justified
No it's not.
If you're not also shitting on it, you're being generous to it and should stfu.
>makes mediocre game
>launches it prior to two of the year's biggest releases, despite announcing the release date last
Wow, no way Superstars sold bad!
Also you people are morons, SoJ has no feedback on what gets done with PC ports, SoE does.
that means denuvo is working
literally
all of SEGA's hopes and dreams
lies on this man
He should be Sega's new mascot.
SEGA its time to prostitute out your favorite funny eyepatch man again.
They sidelined him in 8 for constant kiryu wank. It made all of the hawaii sections totally incoherent.
Literally how is Sega even still alive?
nostalgia and tricking extremely stupid people into buying remakes
yakuza funding and gaijinbux from sonicgays
>Literally how is Sega even still alive?
connections every time the ceo fricks up and bankrupts the company they pass it on to there rich friend to save it
>Sega is in troubkle.
Today ends in y, there is still oxygen in the atmosphere
>connections every time the ceo fricks up and bankrupts the company they pass it on to there rich friend to save it

Gives them the money to make the Dreamcast, dying will forgives all their debt to you and gives them your $700 million dollars worth of stock
Mermaid Knuckles is the mother of of the mermaid children.
Look at the hands.
They own Atlus.
And they put out like three Yakuza games a year that do well.
Only Sonic fans think Sega lives or dies on the back of Sonic. They barely care about it.
Oh, and they run a popular MMO. At least in Japan.
pso2 is also dead in japan
I wouldn't say barely considering he was their only property that got a major Hollywood film but they can survive without sonic
All I'm saying is look at the effort that goes into Yakuza games, and then look at Sonic, and it feels like they would rather not be making Sonic at all.
I think they just shit it out because there's a particular audience who will buy it regardless.
they probably dislike how popular sonic is with filthy gaijins but it brings in the money regardless so they still have to put some effort into it
They 100% hate that the West loves Sonic.
Sonic games also gratuitously re-use engines and assets though. They just look shit while doing that.
My take is the few gachas they got going with the occasional multimedia stuff they release still keeps them afloat. While games is one thing, there is just other things that they dipped their hands into to keep them going somehow.
What I want to know is which IPs would other companies take if Sega falls and what IPs will just get permanently buried.
sonic
Merch sales mostly
Doing more than vidya.
Konami, SE, Sega, all have ventures outside of vidya.
Atlus will get shut down to save Sega in your lifetime
>Atlus will get shut down
good
>to save Sega
bad
Stop making shit games Sega. Holy shit it isn't hard
>make followup to Sonic Mania
>but this time it’s co-developed by the same people behind greatest hits like Yoshi’s New Island and Balan Wonderworld
>but this time it has some synth music by the legendary composer of Sonic 4
>but this time it’s triple the price of Mania
>but this time it has Denuvo on it from the start whereas Mania had already gotten rid of it by then
Someone at Sega, even if they were a low-class janitor, surely saw this fate coming.
>>but this time it has some synth music by the legendary composer of Sonic 4
You mean Jun Senoue?
I don't know why they bother releasing products with minimum propaganda.
>there are people here who don't think Sonic carries sega
Sonic Frontiers sold more in 1 week than P3R and Yakuza 8 did, combined
What percentage of those sales were local, and what percentage was global? If the West made the most purchases of Frontiers, then Sega views it as a total loss.
Looks like sega is going have to go third party
Convinced at this point that Sega wants to look weak to be bought out.
I vowed never to give Sega another fricking cent when they delayed Mania's release on PC to add fricking Denuvo.
I’ve been waiting to buy the game but I’ll not be paying $30 for it, $19.99 is my price as that’s what sale price games used to cost.
Dunno, I stopped buying sega games when they went multiplat instead of ps4 exclusive.
>I stopped buying sega games when they went multiplat instead of ps4 exclusive.
That's stupid.
Why? The second they came out on PC they were basically free, so I pirated them instead.
Oh I thought you were just being a PS fanboy
No, I sold that piece of shit at the end of 2017 because everything was multiplat so I didn't have to keep it around anymore.
STOP
STEALING
GAMES
They should be thankful so many morons bought frontiers despite how shit that game was
my friend really likes sonic and he buys every sonic game. he's not an autist or anything, he's a normie he just really likes sonic for some reason
Well it shouldn't have sucked ass then.
Can't wait too see Nintendo buy Atlus.
>Skies of Arcadia HD Remake
>Skies of Arcadia II
>no updates for modern audiences, no sensitivity garbage, no body type sliders
How fricking hard can it be?
>AI image
Fricking disgusting
There's no way a remake or sequel could be pulled off efficiently and well. But we are about 10 years overdue for a simple HD port.
Just emulate, bro
ca needs to stop with those small-time games of theirs, they suck ass and no one wants to have anything to do with them. it's grand scale or frick off, everyone knows this.
chadow and the movie will save them
>2d side scrollers have never sold that well
Sonic Superstars was just a mediocre game, simple as that. No amount of cope or excuses would change that fact.
>60 (sixty) eurobucks
I guess Denuvo doesn't guarantee sells after all.
Really the only thing it guarantees is alienating people that would have otherwise bought something.
People that would have bought a game that has denuvo would have bought regardless.
But sega will still pay for it and keep it up like the cucks they are when crapcom and SE will eventually remove it after sometime
I pretty much just buy games on consoles instead, if they have Denuvo.
Why do you morons care? Play video games you like or shut the frick up. Post your haircut.
t. Butthurt Azerst employee
The fact that you know what that company is means you are online all the time and follow this drama. have a nice day moron.
>Its drama to talk about video game companies
Grow up and stop trying so hard to fit moron.
I dont have to try and fit in, you moron. Go back to TikTok or wherever you came from you fricking Black person.
Keep seething Black person. I guarantee I've been longer than you ever have. Post hands you worthless Black person.
When did you start? I bet past 2016
i guess the woke shit is not working
who would have guessed?
On one hand, it's unfortunate that Sega is in this position.
On the other hand, I admit that it's been satisfying to see Superstars struggle critically and commercially after people were insisting that it was just as good as Mania.
Anything that prominently features Amy Rose is shooting itself in the foot. The average person doesn't her around cramping the guys' style.
Their slate of upcoming remakes will help.
They need to release the playable Fang the Sniper update already.
Bet they wish they had that Hyenas money now.
>sega panicking after mediocre sales
>no safety blanket PSO bucks because they doodood all over it
YOU GET WHAT YOU FRICKING DESERVE
Still a shame what they did to pso2. Base wasn't great but it was still better than the atrocity of ngs.
I was a complete PSO addict until ngs hit. Why the FRICK would they put the moron who almost killed pso2 in charge OF THE NEW GAME, SEGA YOU moronS
Sega heads aren't smart. Or maybe they're old af and just don't care anymore about the company burning down as they already got their money.
Don't forget, that director is now the series the producer now and the troony CM+ it's friends at SoA pretty much killed pso2 as a whole
Troubkle?
Frick you, op
>Sonic Superstars had "weak" sales.
Good, maybe next time make a Mania sequel with all new zones.
Just imagine that Superstars is actually called Sonic Mania 2 and there you go.
Yeah, it's Sonic Mania 2 with shitty bosses and level design made by Sonic Team, bugs and all. Totally a sequel.
>do weak sales last year
>declare an anti-harassment campaign against your own customers earlier this year
Sega just doing what Sega always does. It's really amazing that they are still in business at this point. They don't have another millionaire that will donate his life savings when he dies this time around.
>make game filled with shitty, overly long, boring boss fights
>$60
>"why didn't anybody buy it?"
sega must be allergic to money.
if one bad sonic game was enough to kill sega then there wouldnt be so many bad sonic games
>endless dungeon
didn't this come out years ago?
That was Dungeon of the Endless.
Sega will never put down the dying animal. Consider the fact Sonic has had more than double the blunders than successes
Just put out sonic adventure remakes and we'll be golden
Miss when they used to spam sonic games
NGS wasn't their super game and, according to the same financial reports, is still propping up the entire company. The "super game" still hasn't been revealed.
The game has PS4/PS5/Xbone/Series players, something like 10x those numbers in Japan, and they're all whaling on little skirts and hair ribbons more than you can imagine. Bringing it up as a "failure" is ignorance, because it is still actively printing enough money to fund every single failure that SEGA keeps dumping out.
