I'd personally want a manga that details what was NOT shown in the game
So, more Owl and childhood Wolf focused. And some more exposition on Wolf's time in Hirata Estate before the invasion
Also maybe how Sekijo was stopped/what tripped him into almost becoming Shura

There is a prequel manga about Hanbei the immortal training zombie, so it's not completely unrealistic

Sekiro 2 will NEVER EVER happen simply because Sekiro is already polished and well rounded enough.

You jest, but a sequel following the Purification ending on how Kuro has to escape people still pursuing his immortality might work out... provided the stealth is implemented well, and not shabbily thrown together as it is in this game

No, all endings can have a sequel with just a little bit of imagination
You just won't have Sekiro as the main character for every ending but Return

The 4 endings exist because all 4 of them are potential outcomes. Until we actually get a sequel, there is no such thing as "canon"

Honestly I would actually like this, a sequel NOT being return would be a nice subvertation of expectations and imo return is incredibly dull, it 100% feels like some shoehorned in sequel setup and overall points to a very cliche disney happy ending story. Not saying that original sekiro had a good story either but playing out return would be very hard to steer away from a predictable snoozefest imo

            >dragons homecoming ending
            I hate it

no i refuse to believe its particulary canon, nothing points to it

Purification is kino and its unironically probably canon. It lives up to the game's title more than all the other endings, both in the ending itself and its requirements

this. purification at least has grit and makes sense. return is cringe.

Purification is the best ending. It’s the most thematically consistent and emotionally potent. Running off to start your own Son Wukong story with rice e-girl is the feel-good ending of the summer but it’s not how Sekiro was meant to end. Killing Kuro and then yourself is the perfect ending; it accomplishes the goal of ridding the world of the gift, and is a final showcase of your ultimate loyalty to the one you are sworn to obey and champion. You were always prepared to die for Kuro, and do whatever he asked, and in the end that’s what you did.

Sorry I got mixed up. You don’t kill Kuro in purification, ONLY yourself. You just purify him of the immortality. The point that stuck with me was the seppuku, because Sekiro’s immortality is the last vestige of the dragon’s gift and true purification requires that his ultimate sacrifice be made. That’s what makes that ending spectacular.

              >protagonist kills himself to save x
              that's totally generic though
it's better that he goes on a journey with a cute little girl

                >that's totally generic though
When something is rehashed over and over because it’s great every time, the word to use is “classic”, not generic.

Stories don’t get points for novelty, only quality. Killing yourself in Sekiro is not just arbitrary tragedy, it’s poetic and 100% in keeping with the narrative, world, and the characterization of Sekiro himself up to that point. To give his life in service of Kuro is his highest honor; the only reason he has gone on living to that point is that it is required of him in order to keep Kuro safe. Once he has ensured Kuro’s safety by purifying the gift, his life is the last obstacle to Kuro having a normal life, and he gives it gladly to achieve his lord’s goal. Bond of love and duty. A true warrior’s fearlessness in the face of ultimate sacrifice. All that classic Japanese shit.

                Anonymous

that'd be more understandable if kuro at least gave him a handy or something
he literally doesn't even know kuro
he's just some little lordling pampered kid who his master told him to worship
                the same master he kills

                Anonymous

In choosing to defend Kuro instead of obeying the Iron Code, Sekiro makes the declaration that his desire to protect Kuro is not in deference to some rule or requirement, it's love and respect. He protects Kuro not because it is his duty, but because he cares that Kuro is safe and happy. He has, over time, gone from being a retainer to a sort of proxy father figure to Kuro, or older brother, or whatever. Someone who feels an emotionally-charged responsibility to protect him, no matter the cost.

That's WHY the Iron Code choice is the trigger for the Shura ending. If Sekiro really only values the Code, he has no emotional anchor to the world, he has no humanity left. He's just a guy doing a job and if the job changes, he changes with it. That's what defines him as a heartless bloodthirsty monster. Choosing to defy Owl and protect Kuro is the action that proves he cares.

                >he literally doesn't even know kuro
He's spent his whole fricking life with Kuro. The opening cutscene shows Sekiro being placed into service of Kuro's house as a young boy, before the game fast-forwards. Given Sekiro's age relative to Kuro, it's fairly safe to assume that Sekiro has been taking care of Kuro literally Kuro's entire goddamn life. Sekiro also literally owes Kuro his life, since the gift is the only thing that keeps him alive.

                >The opening cutscene shows Sekiro being placed into service of Kuro's house as a young boy, before the game fast-forwards.
No, it doesn't. Rewatch it. Wolf is an adult when he enters into Kuro's service. That doesn't mean he could not become a father figure, but he sure wasn't with Kuro his entire life.

The message and big theme of the story is quite literally, if you noticed (you would have noticed if you had actually played instead of getting filtered by Lady Butterfly or some shit), to not have blind loyalty and devotion to one's master or duty, and that isn't what Kuro wanted for Wolf or how the game wants you to play it out
It's an incredibly simple story actually, and yet morons like you somehow still fundamentally misunderstood it

                NTA
You are the one that is missing something. Sekiro had already broken free of the blind loyalty, so much that he went straight against the divine heir's desire in order to pursue a better fate.
He did what he did for the heir, not because of what he was told to do, but because he genuinely liked him & wanted what was best for the world

                Anonymous

                >Sekiro had already broken free of the blind loyalty,
No. He kills himself so that his lord can live a better and more free life. That is precisely being blindly devoted to your master over your own welfare. This is in a game that makes clear - where Kuro also makes clear - that Wolf should have lived his own normal life.
You can argue that purification is better than the regular severance ending where you kill Kuro, but the point of this discussion is which ending is best, and homecoming has both Kuro and Wolf free of the unfortunate obligations thrust on them (obviously not without effort, it is the most obscure ending to get)

the dragons homecoming ending does have some questionable implications, many would argue its better to end the bullshit instead of trying to fix it (possibly only to be fricked up by someone in the future)
In the homecoming ending, wolf is still an immortal in servitude to the divine heir while not understanding his past. In the purification ending, wolf understands everything and decides to depart after doing what he deems best out of the circumstances

                Anonymous

                >many would argue its better to end the bullshit
??? That's the point of the homecoming ending, in the purification ending there's nothing stopping the dragon from choosing another heir or for more bullshit to come from the lands it came from and Wolf would be dead
                >wolf is still an immortal in servitude to the divine heir
He isn't, he is now considered equal to him
                >while not understanding his past
                What does this even mean
Finding out Owl betrayed him (which he already knew) means he understood his past? And if he doesn't fight Father Owl he doesn't? What

Well, it IS possible to not have endings set up sequels into 'Disney-fests'. I mean, Shadow Heart using the bad ending, Dark Souls used the 'good'(kindle the flame) ending, and both sequels showed decent to good results going off of those endings.
I'm not saying the FromSoft team would be able to pull off such magic in a hypothetical Sekiro sequel, but dismissing an ending because it seems to set things up is a little unfair, especially when people have suggested that the Divine Child is actually a type of corruption that Sekiro may be unwittingly escorting into the heart of the 'heritage source'.

This, boss runs in Souls games haven't been bad since 2, they almost always put one right outside of the boss door these days.

off cliffs just does damage not instant death
probably because its 10x easier to fall off the cliff
      >>free revive just in case you frick up
probably because youre 10x more likely to get one or two-shot in instants

Sony is partnered with Kadokawa in some scheme to control anime. Not happening.

      Can you elaborate?

Kadokawa, Sony and CyberAgent(Cygames parents company) have some system in place where Kadokawa provides IPs, Sony covers making console games and using their animation studios like A-1,Cloverworks, and apparently ufotable to produce anime that they then shill on Crunchyroll. CyberAgent covers the mobile games.

Essentially Sony is in bed with Kadokawa. This was announced a couple of years back. From doing something greatly in the benefit of Microsoft doesn't really work because of that as Sony can lock Kadokawa out of the western anime market via Crunchyroll. It you're not a weeb, Crunchyroll is essentially Steam level. People don't use anything else unless they pirate.

But FROM owns Sekiro as an IP.

Yes but unless they completely cuck Activision out of the equation in regards to western publishing and go with Bamco again its not going to happen even with Microsoft trying to throw money behind it. Miyazaki also does not like making sequels regardless. That's why he worked on Bloodborne after Dark Souls 1 while leaving DaS2 to the B team. Can't see Sekiro 2 happening, a game with similar systems but a different name is possible though.

A Shinobi anthology, yeah. I see it too.

Just as long as it's not the same characters in the same world, yeah. Naming Elden Ring something new instead of Dark Souls 4 was ballsy but Fromsofts name alone carries games now like Kojima's. Too bad Deracine is stuck in PSVR jail without a PC port or any form of backwards compatibility with the PSVR2, barely anyone played that.

They could do a shinobi stories from different provinces and historical periods. That would be something else.
