Learn how your horn moves when you go on recital mode, each direction you input is a different move.
Never "corner horn", always try to hit the monster whenever you use your horn (even better if you can hit the head each time)
It felt so good having the whole team wait on me as I buff the entire team before big boss fights. Those stamina pools are so helpful especially if your weapon uses tons of stamina
I really like the Speed Boost + Evade Window Up echo bubble. Speed Boost with Self-Improvement lets you run circles around monsters, and everyone will benefit from having an easier time dodging attacks.
Hitting the golf swing on a head and having the monster get thrown away while stunned is one of the most satisfying things i have experinced in vydia. That alone already makes hammer worth playing.
They should make slashing and blunt types for all weapons. Like the vaal axe in World could be slashing-type while the diablos club dual blades could be blunt.
>play Insect Glaive >fly over the monster at any point >immediately hit by the monster
I swear every move has a hitbox that goes about two metres higher than you'd expect
I was getting into gunlance towards the end of my time with World. wonder how different I'd feel about rise had i not used the funlance the whole time.
hammer is so fricking easy to use, it literally is built to let you stun and do haha epic 2hard4u animation lock gold swing. It's still a fun and based weapon but don't pat yourself on the back for playing it
>exclusively used hammer in World >friends would regularly walk into golf swings >instead of learning to stay away they just use me as a launch pad for aerial attacks
if it works
>One of the few games that makes it feel like an actual heavy weapon >Every other game with hammers is just a sword with a blunt end
Longhammers when? Gunhammer promotion when?
double hammer (hammer on each end of haft)
retractable chain hammer
switchhammer with a vertical chainsaw (hitting with the engine of the chainsaw, with the chain built around it)
Hand Guards. >Two parts of a bigger shield >Used like boxing gloves >Sharpness is set, can't be lowered or raised >Blocking attacks fills a gauge, when full unleashes its main attack
Gunhammer homie. >Hammer but you can use projectiles >Golf swing lets you fire shots, uses sharpness >Use a starting chord like a chainsaw to reload or keep pulling to ready all your ammo at once >Golf swing releases all your ammo or smashing on the ground causes a tremor
If not that, I'll take whips or a proper boomerang alongside the magnet spike.
Magnet Spike but make it not broken as shit. If it has to be NEW then probably something like a spear attached to a chain that has reach and lets you throw it and yank it back or swing it really far with the chain.
personally I'd like some kind of pilebunker style weapon. gunlance stakes were a bit similar but it's not quite the same to me. I dunno if it's been done before in the series.
I've said this a million times, but just redesign the Tonfas from Frontier and make them play more like Nioh's Tonfas.
Like in these links right here:
They should basically be like Dual Blades (in that they're fast hitting and are excellent at applying element and status, but have very short reach) but with a focus on impact damage rather than slashing/cutting damage.
A sort of whip. You can add stuff like having a blade at the end or a morning star or something. I think it could be cool.
Alternatively, they still have Tonfas and Magnet Spike to rescue from Frontier jail.
WHIP OR BOOMERANG
EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST FRICKING RESKINS OF WEAPONS WITH NO INTERESTING OR NEW GAMEPLAY
>whip >built-in wirebug jumps >aerial attacks with maximum spin >hook onto monster parts to get a direct hit, removing shitzones without the massive damage boost of tenderize >blunt or sharp end to either slam down like a slinger shot onto the head or reach the tail easily
Might be fun taking some elements from clutch claw and wirebug for a new weapon. Competes with IG in aerial but has a different kind of support.
Boomeraxe. It's a transforming weapon, going from an axe to a sword. In its default axe mode, the weapon builds up energy as it strikes the enemy with its wide sweeping chops. The axehead is detachable and uses the stored energy to propel itself through the air, spinning like a jet-powered boomerang. The rest of the weapon is a magnetic sword you can use to direct the axehead as it flies through the air. You can attack the enemy with quick sword strikes to create a magnetic field that the axehead will attack in tandem with you, or fire a magnetic stake to direct the axehead to a distant target. When its energy is depleted, the axehead will be attracted back to the base of the sword so it can be reattached and begin building energy again. You can also use the energy build up by the axe to power up your sword strikes. Attacking with this powered up sword will generate a ton of magnetic energy that the axehead can release for an explosive finishing move.
>longsword is the canonical weapon for the last fifteen entries >longswords are the worst class aesthetically
every other weapon class has some awesome looking weapons then you get back to LS and they're so restrained
does anyone know if 60 fps on GU fricks with anything? i know some of the older games locked at 30 get fricky when you force 60 on emulator but idk about GU. i really cant decide if i wanna replay GU on switch or emulator
The only instance of 60fps framerate-related frickery I've seen on MHGU/MHXX emulation is Volvidon's body slams becoming insanely fast.
Otherwise, nothing else that I can think of.
Both are schizophrenic dogs with cool designs but lame fights by virtue of them being incapable of hitting anyone with all their jumping around
Odogaron has SEXO armor, but Lunagaron has the cool werewolf transformation gimmick
So I'm gonna give it to Lunagaron, since there's an obvious avenue for his fight to not be lame in the future by giving him actual ice attacks
But I'm also biased since I think werwolves are rad
Hammer has literally been an obsolete weapon since MH4U (maybe it was obsolete in MH4 but I didn't play vanilla MH4).
It no longer sits at the throne of being the game's "KO King" weapon.
An impact phial Charge Blade or an LBG/HBG with Sticky Ammo can get in KOs faster and safer than any Hammer can.
You have no reason to use Hammer anymore.
>only 18 Special Investigations and 1 Anomaly Quest to get the last few titles, and however many Master Rank quests I need after that to get to MR999, before I'm finally free
How much weaker are the other shelling types compared to normal in iceborne?
Considering available weapon choices ofc, but goddamn the fatty weapons are too good
>queue Aletreon >Black person wants to watch the cutscene >dumb homosexual bow Black person knows nothing and carts twice in 3 minutes >break his horm >both die to EJ and end the mission

I like to run multiplayer Alatreon with a pure support HH build. It's a bit more chill since you're more focused on keeping everyone buffed and healed up, but Alatreon can still frick you up since he attacks constantly with 4 players.
Another downside is that you're completely dependent on other players to do elemental damage. Running a horn with elemental damage buffs helps. So far I've had decent luck with parties.
Kjarr Myth/Water has enough element with all the support songs you need.
Just use a Kjarr horn with Frostcraft or Safi set and watch Alatreon spend most of the fight flailing like a fish out of water. Get those juicy horn breaks with that elemental Spin2Win.
>That slide move super spinny sonic the hedgehog jump attack they added in MHW
Kino or Cringe?
Should have gone to the hunting horn
Kino along with the clutch claw sonic spin move
Kino in World, giga cringe in Rise.
It's infuriating in Rise, truly wish toggling sliding while weapon drawn off was a feature.
>It's infuriating in Rise
You mean in world, right?
In Rise there are almost no slopes in combat zones.
Great in World, sucks in Rise.
why is it worse in Rise? I mean I can see/feel it being worse when I play but I don't really understand why
Damage got way nerfed to the point you're actively gimping yourself every time you use it.
the move is actually still pretty gud, but you have to hit the monster from the back and make the last hit connect with head
putting a high commitment attack on LS was such a shit idea. I like the counter way more than than spamming ISS though
You don't have nearly as much control on direction as you did in World and the damage isn't even worth it if you do manage a good angle.
>Rise
>run up slope
>dude starts sliding
this happens way more frequently in world because half its zones are tilted
slide attacks should never have been contextual
exploitable speed troony bullshit in world, dogshit in rise
>*separates your feet from the ground*
>I don't know how to play monster hunter: the weapon
Carried by devs the weapon
HH BROTHER
God I miss pre-world HH so FRICKING much
Iceborne is peak HH, echo waves is what HH should have for a long time. Rise is the one that fricks it all up again
Trying to practice this weapon in GU, any HHbros here have any advice?
Equip a loudner
Self-improvement, go for any horn with red or green notes, learn the more complex songs as soon as you can.
Learn how your horn moves when you go on recital mode, each direction you input is a different move.
Never "corner horn", always try to hit the monster whenever you use your horn (even better if you can hit the head each time)
>THERE ARE DOZENS OF US. DOZENS.

How is using the easy weapon that does lots of damage and KO the "manly" weapon?
My choice would be LBG.
Terrible bait.
>mfw no slopes
I was expecting a mid air bonk but damn.
Hitting the golf swing on a head and having the monster get thrown away while stunned is one of the most satisfying things i have experinced in vydia. That alone already makes hammer worth playing.
God hammer was so fun in world and rise
but how do you cut tails?
>not playing with your best bro who uses blade weapons
I tell the special ed players (LS users) that if they hit the tail I'll give them an ice cream.
They should make slashing and blunt types for all weapons. Like the vaal axe in World could be slashing-type while the diablos club dual blades could be blunt.
Tail cutting isn't really too essential anymore, but back in 2nd gen you'd damage the tail and use a boomerang to cut it off.
>play Insect Glaive
>fly over the monster at any point
>immediately hit by the monster
I swear every move has a hitbox that goes about two metres higher than you'd expect
why would you ever subjugate yourself to this
It's fun
>join lobby as prowler
>guy just says "no"
>insta kicked
What the frick is their problem?
Prowlers were turbo nerfed in GU and do piss all damage
>Can't hear you over the sound of my portable jet engine
I was getting into gunlance towards the end of my time with World. wonder how different I'd feel about rise had i not used the funlance the whole time.

moronic, yet also adaptive. I like your friends.

Most of them were nergays to huntan so they were busy learning patterns.

Put your arms right against your sides, lean forward making sure to only bend at your waist and keep your back straight.

Capcom wants YOU to pick a new weapon class for the new MH game!
What's your idea?!
WIRED LANCES
Bring back tonfas
About time they added Hunting Horn I say.
Fists
you know how they made greatsword like some kinda weird tank weapon? do that but not with the greatsword
see marisa in sf6
BRING BACK PROWLER MODE YOU COWARDS
Lance 2
It's just two lances, no shield.
this but the opposite, its just two big ass shield
Now how about an inverse gun lance, regular lance with a gun shield
May as well make boxing gloves.
yes but you can block and you have lances move speed
Hand Guards.
>Two parts of a bigger shield
>Used like boxing gloves
>Sharpness is set, can't be lowered or raised
>Blocking attacks fills a gauge, when full unleashes its main attack
Long spear, like lance without a shield but greater reach/damage and capable of vaulting attacks.
seconding this if stinger is part of its normal moveset
Gunhammer homie.
>Hammer but you can use projectiles
>Golf swing lets you fire shots, uses sharpness
>Use a starting chord like a chainsaw to reload or keep pulling to ready all your ammo at once
>Golf swing releases all your ammo or smashing on the ground causes a tremor
If not that, I'll take whips or a proper boomerang alongside the magnet spike.
Fist weapons like Yozakura from Senran Kagura
The god eater hammer. I wnat to fly like a GL but with a hammer!
Dual longswords. Vergil moveset. Sheathe moves that trigger damage application.
GunGun. It is a bow gun that shoots gunlances.
Flame/ice/toxic/etc thrower
Revive the Wyvern Boomerang

Capcom already has the next weapon class and that's the gun sword from Lost Planet 2.
A sort of whip. You can add stuff like having a blade at the end or a morning star or something. I think it could be cool.
Alternatively, they still have Tonfas and Magnet Spike to rescue from Frontier jail.
>whip

Beartrap on a chain
Throwable C4 explosives (with riot shield).

Your thoughts?
Haven't gotten very far but 2 is pretty cool. Probably wouldn't care about it if it wasn't MH.
why are hammers so fricking bad
>longsword is the canonical weapon for the last fifteen entries
>longswords are the worst class aesthetically
every other weapon class has some awesome looking weapons then you get back to LS and they're so restrained
The manliest weapons have the shortest reach
Frick this webp bullshit
They need to make the block sound louder
Everyone must know I blocked that attack
Why is webp becoming a thing again?
You get Google ranking points for hosting webp/avif images instead of gif/jpg/png
Because israelitegle is forcing feeding everyone their preferred formats
Just look at Chrome removing support for JPEG-XL in favour of AVIF
>kill monkey
>get two hearts
what are the lore implications of this? secret guild unethical genetic experiments?
I imagine it's just multiple parts of a single heart, same with tails and skulls.
hearts from other rajangs or the monkey (king) has multiple hearts
the only truly manly weapon in monhun is the tankiest of tanks, the lance
does anyone know if 60 fps on GU fricks with anything? i know some of the older games locked at 30 get fricky when you force 60 on emulator but idk about GU. i really cant decide if i wanna replay GU on switch or emulator
Doubtful, since GU is built off 4U's engine (pretty sure) and that game ran at variable FPS. Variable FPS was added to the series back in 3U iirc.
The only instance of 60fps framerate-related frickery I've seen on MHGU/MHXX emulation is Volvidon's body slams becoming insanely fast.
Otherwise, nothing else that I can think of.

You have no reason to use Hammer anymore.
I won't disagree hammer is weak, but this isn't XIV or some garbage MMO.
With that outlook, we'd all just be using LBG or ranged, non-mentally ill people use weapons because they like the way they feel and play.
I am an SnS user, and Strongarm abuse with small barrel bombs is absurdly strong, but it also feels like shit to play and not very fun.
>you have no reason to use Hammer
Are you incapable of having fun?
God, I'm gonna miss water strike.

Impressive. I've got everything besides those, but I only do random sos quests these days
