Hard Press does more damage depending on the target's HP, not the user's. It's probably the inverse of Brine.

Do we really think Kieran is going to take the title of strongest trainer in the series? 88 is the magic number to beat, matching Red’s Pikachu from HGSS and Cynthia’s Garchomp from BDSP round 3.
My issue is that the one indication of trainer levels is that the NPCs are all using Pokémon in the 60-70 range, with Joe’s preview team being in the low 80s. It sounds like the trainers are hard not because of raw numbers but from team composition, so it’s hard to say for sure if the E4 and subsequently Kieran will actually use mons that are level 80+

That list of npcs is very likely just overworld trainers now that its confirm to be about the same amount as teal mask, probably more since the map is bigger. The datamine said it was only 50 generic trainers, there is absolutely nothing to indicate a battle facility

They were given HIGHER level pokemon and were told that they might lose.

You don't need NSO to farm 5-stars and 6-stars raids. 7 stars can be solo'd with the correct strat most of the time, but are not necessary to get absurd numbers of XP candies

DLCs are meant to be future proof. Gamefreak wants to make sure people who pick up the game this holiday season can beat the E4 and then go into the Indigo Disc and not get slammed with their level 70 team. They're logically progressing from where the base game left off instead of having a dumb difficulty spike up to level 100.

It might not be limited to Indigo Disk mons. There's a couple trainers in the b-roll who have Corviknights nearby and that Pokemon doesn't appear in the BB dex.

I wish they didn't suck much. They're ironically pretty terrible in doubles compared to even just other pikaclones. You're better off spamming Discharge with Emolga and Pachirisu or something than trying to make Plusle and Minun work.
That's the thing, they really don't have many tools for doubles which feels like it holds them back from having any real viable niche like Pachirisu had that one time, and even if Minun had redirection like follow me, it has worse defenses than Pachirisu when Minun's supposed to be the more defensive option between itself and Plusle

My issue is that the one indication of trainer levels is that the NPCs are all using Pokémon in the 60-70 range, with Joe’s preview team being in the low 80s. It sounds like the trainers are hard not because of raw numbers but from team composition, so it’s hard to say for sure if the E4 and subsequently Kieran will actually use mons that are level 80+

6-stars are easy too, you can do most of them with just a handful of different Pokemon. Iron Hands is the easiest, but there are others you can use.

Gamefreak wants to make sure people who pick up the game this holiday season can beat the E4 and then go into the Indigo Disc and not get slammed with their level 70 team. It's probably true then that nobody plays battle towers so they just cut that shit. Isnt it like that every game when you look at like steam achievments and not even 50% of the players complete the last boss?

The stuff I'm seeing is actually getting me interested but I'm still very scared about getting burned again. The people talking about this are making it sound neat but they also have a very clear personal incentive to make it sound as amazing as possible. A lot of speculation early on was that he was going to be a surprise antagonist similar to Rose, Lusamine and Volo, and the official website blurb making a vague mention of his connection to the professor didn't help matters either.
I hope there's a way to build my Quaquaval/Talonflame/Sandaconda/Ogerpon/Ambipom/Sudowoodo team for the Indigo Disk's Doubles team battles without them getting crushed, or else a decent way to put together a thematic team referencing all the paths so far.
