That said, this was the wrong game for Gollum, the asocial hermit. "Proper" Gollum game would have you just shanking Orcs in the shadows for ten hours and it's hard concept to market.

I wanted my question answered. I can't wrap my head around the decision. It is like pic attached goblina being the main character. In her case at least she got plopped into a generic open world game and the setting idea was interesting. But obviously nobody really wanted to play the goblina. At least she is OC so you can fix the world around her. With Gollum there was no way to make a good game.

If it were something more down to earth and just about Gollum and the ring I think that might've been pretty neat. Not some epic adventure or anything. Basically Gollum life simulator of hunting fish and small animals, talking to himself, he briefly loses the ring and gets it back learning nothing of the ordeal.
