Nintendo could never give a shit about one or two hundred losers spending hours tweeking a DoA laptop controller thing to shittily emulate a few upscaled games. 99.99% of gamers aren't that moronic
How is it comparable? Capcom games get modded up the ass and they don't give a frick. They never took down the RE4 remaster project, nintendo would have shut that down day one.
I love that normalgays are still terrified of emulation and think setting up an emulator takes more than 10 minutes. Emulation is literally moron-proof.. Fricking reddit has a subreddit with roms for every single console out there. It's incredibly how easy it is to emulate these days.
Depends on the emulator, I set up Xemu recently and it turns out you have to trim bytes off every ROM file because the emulator only accepts a weird format instead of just accepting the disc dump.
Took me an hour to figure this out.
Dude, super unfair.
Switch has been out for 5 years, PS5 for not even 2 AND both it and xbox can't get out units of their expensive models easily.
Maybe if this wasn't crazy homosexual era with moron presidents that fall down, gas prices being insane and a "war" between 2 countries i remember from the 80s, we'd see better sales numbers.
Shit, i think covid BOOSTED nintys sales massively.
Worse. Several LP'ers have been hit with court summons for copyright violation from a Japanese court. Youtube honors this by killing their channel while the content creator has zero recourse unless they go to Japan (and lose+get arrested because of if their shitty courts)
Shit, you caught me in a lie, I guess I'll have to leave in shame (no one will know who I am so if I stay, it won't matter and me acknowledging this will result in people guessing who made this post and other posts, so in my wrongness I bring random strangers with me.)
Yeah, nintendo really should make their actual console not a piece of fricking shit that you get a 10x better experience emulating it on another machine.
Why don't Nintendo do what? Sue Valve? It's an open-platform, you can install anything on it. It's not Valve's problem. Sue emulator creators? If they could, they would. Sony sued a dude who made a PS2 emulator, and the courts sided with the emulator's creator. Emulation is perfectly legal in the United States and Europe. Sue people uploading roms on the internet? It's basically piracy, but I'm sure whoever hosts roms is very careful, so they can't find whoever is responsible.
Both are a lost sale and both need one person to buy the game. And lets say, for examples sake, this friend we borrow from is friends with as many people as they can, like how as many people pirate as they want.
We don't have a full blown pirate epidemic or something, we've never seen sales of 1st party games in the hundreds. So...what is the issue?
It's a legal question that comes from the principle of private ownership and private copies. You own the copy of the game you bought and you have the right to lend it to your family and friend. But the people which you lent the game to are not supposed to continue playing it once they gave it back. You also have the right to make private copies of what you own, but not disseminate them to others apart from your family and friends.
On the other hand, piracy is not legal at all as you have no rights to make numerous copies of something, even if you have bought one.
It is not well adapted to digital products.
It's not as good as playing on a Switch, but it's free. If you don't have a Switch, but do have a PC, then it's better to just emulate. If you already have a Switch, you're better off just buying the games.
>It's not as good as playing on a Switch
Lmao. If you can play something on anything other than the Switch, then never choose Switch. Just because you have to somehow justify your shitty purchase, doesnt mean you have to force it on anyone else. Switch is shit
Pretty much every big game runs perfectly on Yuzu or Ryujinx. I have a mid-range laptop with a 1660ti and I7 9750H, and I can run literally everything at 1440p 60fps
This is factually not true, exclusives are a thing. You cannot play the stuff on Ps4 and 5, assuming you can emulate everything else. It might not be much in raw numbers and you might not be interested in it but it's the truth.
Pcgays claim its good enough. And in a lot of cases it's better than Switch even when you don't have a shader cache because the framerate unlockers are worth using when you can hit >60FPS
Emulation is just a matter of time
If a game doesn't work well today it will eventually
The switch is so weak that the experience is usually at least comparable to playing on switch
It's good for most stuff, but of course there's always problematic titles, specially if it's a recent release. I've beat most first party Nintendo games with 0 issues so far, other than my 8 year old CPU not giving me stable 60fps at times, but games that drop hard on a Switch usually runs way better and at 4K even, and I can run some 30fps titles at 60fps with patches so it's still fine.
But I heard if you have AMD on Windows you'll definitely face issues since their drivers have some broken stuff that the emulators rely on.
Wasn't it proven they just used the source code of popular emulators? The same emulators which Nintendo has been seething against legally for decades now, have become the marketing focal point for pushing their horrible gaming subscription service.
Nope, it's their own shit, which is why it sucks, ironically. Your regular PC emulators have been in development for over a decade and have a bigger focus on accuracy so they can run just about anything without major issues, while these are probably developed by some small team at NERD within a year and rely on tons per titles hacks to render stuff mostly right.
Just look at the state of Zelda OoT on Switch when it was released, not even UltraHLE, an emulator released over 20 years ago had some of these rendering issues.
Emulation is legal
Software backups are legal
The paid non-official distribution of roms/isos is illegal but rom/iso sites try to not be stupid to monetize the activity, at least not directly
Nintendo tech people are old farts that can't do shit to stop rom sites in a non-legal way

Reeks of desperation. Stop embarrassing yourselves.
Emulators themselves are shockingly not illegal, iirc. It's by some weird technicality. Something like it being a program made from scratch that is able to play the files of a console's games is actually fine. It's even legal to use games you paid for and dumped yourself to play on an emulator. The only issue is downloading the games via piracy.
I could be talking out my ass, but I seem to remember that being the case.
It is legal to write a program to emulate another piece of hardware provided you reverse engineered it. If I just write code that can process instructions the same way a Z80 or 68k can, using public information about those chips, no law is broken and I didn’t violate anyone’s copyright or patent or trade secret.
Thing is, a lot of the emulators out there now, the way they are used today IS illegal because they are using copyrighted/ripped BIOS.
This is why Nintendo incorporated copy protection in their name and logo on systems like the GB and FDS, as soon as pirates incorporated that logo into their illegal software they were breaking copyright law.
>The only issue is downloading the games via piracy.
Not even this is true. It's only illegal to share them, so if you download it via torrent you're committing a crime because of the p2p nature of torrent tech but if you download them from file sharing sites it's perfectly legal.
The thing tendies can't understand is that it really isn't worth pursuing every single case of piracy ever, you'd spend way more than you'd get from people buying legitimate copies instead of pirating. But of course you can't just not do anything ever either, because then everyone will just decide it's okay because what's the point of a rule that never gets enforced? So you go somewhere down the middle and occasionally make an example out of someone

>Why won't Nintendo do something?
Because they can't.
Love how all those threads use my Steam Deck but in reality it's collecting dust because I usually just prefer to play on shitty chink handhelds.
>discord-troony
yeah it checks out
Why did you buy that fricking brick?
I believe only delusional consooomers bought a Steam Deck.
>tendie bought a deck just to be able to falseflag
Next level mental illness
Don't make me post my Switches collecting dust because they sure do.
nice get though
What about it isn’t legal?
They hate the deck because they can't get one and it plays games they could only dream of having of switch like the entire gamecube and wii libraries
>Why won't Nintendo do something?
You mean manufacture a console worth a shit that actually handles well enough to support their products so people don't have to emulate them on SUPERIOR hardware?
Best of luck with that.
How well does it run games though? Something like Xenoblade for example
Haven't seen anyone talked about them or SMTV on it so I would imagine pretty fricking poorly
I've noticed Switch emulation is better on my machine than my friend's own deck.
wow that title screen sure is being emulated well
