There's a scene with Shadow and Eggman where they find out Tails has 2 emeralds despite Eggman already having 6 of them in the Eclipse Cannon. He knew there was a fake emerald, he just didn't know which one, which is why he did that trick on Tails.
Without playing the game for almost two decades, didnt he detect a fake emerald in one of the cutscenes? Frick me i might just rewatch the team dark citscenes to find it

I’m too lazy to do the Chao stuff to get the remaining Emblems, everything else is done too. However kid me had all the time in the world and barely responsibilities. I’m 28 going on 29, I could do it if I wanted but I’m just not motivated enough.
you can look up the infinite driver glitch for the chao garden.
perform that to powerlevel a chao for the races and karate, but also keep two seperate chao and make them hero/dark to unlock their gardens and the hero/dark races. keep your powerleveled chao neutral so they can compete in both.
also check your newborn chao's stats at the doctor, find one that doesn't have E ranks; i powerlevelled a chao with E ranks once and they got BTFO'd by the enemy chaos in the race, even with lvl 99 stats.
fully levelling a chao to all lvl 99 will take a bit, like 2-3 hours depending on how fast you get used to the infinite driver glitch, but its still much faster than grinding for the materials in levels all the time.
I know about all the exploits and stuff but like I said I’m just too lazy and old I guess 🙁
Just use a Chao editor, anon. If you can't be bothered to grind out something that isn't even skill based, then just skip the grind. No shame in that.

He knew there were two readings coming from two seperate emeralds (seen in Dark Story before this scene happens) which should be impossible because he already has six of the seven emeralds at that point. However, he wasn't entirely sure if the one Sonic had was real or not. He probably assumed it was fake, but dumb shit Tails chimes in and confirms it.
seriously though, how many lines from SA2 are they going to use 1:1 in the movie? i'm kinda worried they might even use fandub lines but i'm optimistic that jim carrey won't actually do the entire pissing on the moon bit that everyone overuses
