they were already complete shitmons in gen 8 and even hydrapple still isn’t that great
Hydrapple @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 176 Def / 236 SpA / 96 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Fickle Beam
- Pollen Puff
- Earth Power
This thing goes hard af
>Swinub use ice shard
Oh no it has a counter like every other Pokemon that must mean its completely useless
Cope
I accept your concession
That's what's cool about hydrapple; by virtue of having actual stats, it can take 4x super effective ice moves from shitters or non ice types like ice spinner from great tusk and either hit hard back or hit back decently then regenerate off the damage. Tera is really cool for it too; hilariously, tera ice and dumping regenerator for sticky hold makes it one of the best weavile and meowscarada switch ins in the game.
Not going to be tearing up OU any time soon but it's surprisingly solid.
They serve my dick
What was their purpose before Hydrapple?
Uhhh being the grass gym leader's ace GMAX form
They still are that
Grav Apple and curry ingredient respectively.
Being the only natural grass dragon mon
>b-but muh mega sceptile
Permacut shitmon
>b-but muh exeggutor
regional form that only exist naturally in alola.
>only exist naturally in alola.
And in Unova 🙂
>is imported from alola into bb academy so not natural at all
>eggsecute can’t even evolve into it anyway
Wow, it’s fricking nothing
>Dragonite is now obsolete because gen 3 introduced salamence and altaria
Yes. Salamence is better at battle that Dragonite.
Thats crazy bro i wonder what their usage is in VGC surely Salamence is higher.
Regional forms are an inherent form change and cannot be changed or turned off.
Alolan Exeggutor are natural.
>can be fixed by giving them cross gen evos as well
Well would you look at that….
>bro just give the other two evo’s as well
Im so glad none of you gays will ever influence GF drcision making because you have no ideas how game balancing work.
How is that a bad idea?
>Dipplin can’t gigantamax
>Hydrapple can’t gigantamax
Flapple and Appletunbros we won
>shitty gimmick so bad it was only include in 1/3 of gen 8
>the gmax apples are weaker than regular apples
Wow, it’s fricking nothing.
>Duraludon can do both
Hitmontop moment
What purpose did it ever serve?
>Foodmons
Glad they server no purpose anymore
The cross gen evolutions are usually pretty cool
>Magnezone
>Annihilape
>Ursaluna
>Gallade
Kingambit would be cool if he wasn't... sitting down.
>Ursaluna
>a cross gen evolution
anon...
Ursaluna is my favorite gen 2 pokemon
What the frick are you
... about, Ursaluna is over a decade newer than Ursaring
ursaluna is a regional evolution like alolan exeggutor and obstagoon, not a cross gen evolution
It's not a regional evolution, it just requires an item that hasn't yet been made available outside of Legends so that GameFreak can squeeze more sales out of Legends due to how useful Ursaluna is in the VGC metagame.
Expect Peat Blocks to become more readily accessible in Gen 10 onward, because your implication that it's a "regional evolution" is quite literally daring to imply that Hisui is the ONLY TIME IN THE ENTIRE POKEMON WORLD that peat as a material has EVER existed, and that it suddenly CEASED TO EXIST after the age of Hisui came to an end.
>imply that Hisui is the ONLY TIME IN THE ENTIRE POKEMON WORLD that peat as a material has EVER existed, and that it suddenly CEASED TO EXIST after the age of Hisui came to an end.
well duh. peat blocks only exitsted in hisui and dont exist in modern sinnoh anymore due to crimson mirelands having been mostly destroyed by the urbanization of the region. this info is pretty obvious once you actually play the game.
Again, they haven't made peat blocks available outside of Legends despite being theoretically EXTREMELY EASY to replicate as a NATURAL RESOURCE MADE OF DECOMPOSED DAMP ORGANIC MATTER THAT CAN NATURALLY ARISE ANYWHERE IN THE FRICKING WORLD because for the remainder of Gen 9, they want you to buy Legends to get Ursaluna from there. There is no in-universe reason why you can't make your own peat blocks using the bogs of Paldea or Kitakami, you simply can't because GameFreak wants you to get another game for it.
It's only once we leave Switch that peat blocks will suddenly start appearing as an obtainable item in other regions, therefore, it wasn't actually a regional evolution.
>i dont care about the lore! everything i dont like about pokemon is because GF is le evil!
gee, you must be fun at parties.
magneton can evolve into magnezone in sinnoh, unova, kalos, alola, galar, hisui, paldea and kitakami.
ursaring cannot evolve outside of hisui.
>b-but muh hgss
ah yes, because SV is totally a remake
SV doesn’t have to be a remake. Why is that significant. It’s the game after the evolution’s introduction. They want to make an evo method once a generation.
dp is gen 4
hgss is gen 4
legends is gen 8
sv is gen 9
>muh lore!!
Please, point me towards the iconic scene in Legends where someone goes "Ah, the beautiful Crimson Mirelands, the only place in the entire world where peat exists... What a shame it would be if it were lost to civilization's growth, hm?" I must've missed that.
I also must've missed the part of SV where Perrin says "Ursaluna used to be real easy to find, but ever since a long time ago, the stuff they loved completely disappeared from the world... Crazy, huh?"
>Can’t find peat in paldea
>Can’t find peat in kitakami (this is even shown by bloodmoon mud being all dried up and falling off in som places)
>Can’t find peat in unova
Three regions after hisui and none of them have peat in them. I have no reason to believe that that this already rare items from hisui exist in some other region when nothing points to it being the case.
>There is no in-universe reason why you can't make your own peat blocks using the bogs of Paldea or Kitakami, you simply can't because GameFreak wants you to get another game for it.
Again, you're taking forced gameplay limitations with the intent to make you buy another game as in-universe lore.
Peat blocks WILL be made available eventually when we move to another system, the ONLY REASON you can't find or make peat anywhere in SV is because then that's one less incentive to buy Legends.
>bro just make your own lol
You can’t "make" peat you moron, it’s a natural finite resource.
>natural finite resource
Damn, is that why I'm able to acquire infinite amounts of peat blocks in Legends by having Ursaluna sniff it out, then?
Because it’s a video game, anon. It’s the same reason you can catch an infinite amount of pidgey in rby without having to worry about ruining the ecosystem.
So nothing should be stopping me from, by that similar video game metric, creating peat using the ludicrously diverse resources of the world that fundamentally cannot run out for gameplay purposes, which I can then shape into peat blocks.
But I can't. And that's because GameFreak wants me to buy Legends in order to obtain Ursaluna, and that's how it's going to be until we move to Switch 2, and then, only THEN, will peat magically become this common, obtainable material that can be shaped into the fricking blocks that Ursaring cums buckets over.
>if i ignore the rules and story of the game, I can do whatever I want
that’s great anon. Now show me an ursaring evolve outside of hisui 🙂
>only rebutal is a non canon spinoff
>the same game allow you to evolve a mon into its regional form outside of its region
I accept your concession.
>Muh thunderstone
The thunderstone could always evolve it as proven by legends arceus, this knowledge was simply lost until gen 8 came along.
>>only rebutal is a non canon spinoff
>non canon
gotcha anon.
PoGo IS canon.
At the end of USUM Giovanni said he would plunder other worlds for pokemon to wield and then started showing up in Pogo
>this knowledge was simply lost
No, wrong. Every time I tried to use a Thunder Stone on a Magneton between DPPt to USUM, it said "it won't have any effect."
Which indicates I DID try to incite an evolutionary reaction, but there wasn't one to generate. So why is there now suddenly an evolutionary reaction?
>non-canon spinoff
You mean the one that allows you to obtain Roaming Gimmighoul, who have Pokedex Entries in Scarlet and Violet despite not being obtainable through any other method?
You also mean the one that allows you to obtain Meltan and Melmetal, who are otherwise completely unobtainable despite being official, canonical Pokemon?
GO lets you evolve Ursaring without being in Hisui, therefore it's not a regional evolution.
Explain why Magneton suddenly gained an evolutionary reaction via Thunder Stone in SWSH. What's the lore reason behind it? Why couldn't we use Thunder Stones prior?
>the will let you evolve your Pokémon into their alola form in gen 9, the only reason they don’t allow it in gen 8 is to push people to buy lgpe
If there was a Hisuian Ursaring, you'd almost have a point here.
But you don't. There isn't a regional variant that's named and acknowledged as a regional variant officially who evolves from the bog standard global variant of that Pokemon that relies on a specific item that JUST SO HAPPENS to not be currently available outside of the game it debuted in.
This whole dumbfrick argument wouldn't even exist if we had Hisuian Ursaring in the first place, but no, instead, we UNIRONICALLY have people arguing that peat, a material that in the real world is CONSIDERABLY common due to how many bogs and similar biomes exist, is this UBER-RARE RESOURCE in the Pokemon World that only managed to form in ONE REGION IN AN EVER-EXPANDING WORLD and only existed for a LIMITED TIME IN THE DISTANT PAST.
>can only evolve in a specific region
its a regional evolution no matter what way too l look at it
>b-but muh item
stantler dosen’t need an item to evolve and yet it can’t evolve outside of hisui. It’s dex entry even mention how it’s psychic powers have fad away because only the harsh climate of hisui can push it to evolve.
>Stantler
Once again, they WANT YOU TO BUY LEGENDS TO GET THE POKEMON. I GUARAN-FRICKING-TEE YOU we'll get an area or region on Switch 2 that's "harsh enough" to force Stantler to stop being a shitmon and awaken its true potential.
>GF IS LE EVIL! LORE BAD!
ok anon
I played Gen 4 too and by the same standard it’s canonical that Magnezone is a regional evolution because it can only evolve near the poles.
They had no purpose to exist to begin with
They should have retroactively become mid-evos and Hydrapple should have been a flying candy-apple-pie dinosaur hydra with 600 bst that evolves from all three of them.
