The multiplayer has been unplayable for actual years. I don't see the playerbase dropping nearly as much as before now that it's fixed.
I played maybe 1.5 years ago and it was very dead. There was nothing wrong with the servers besides taking forever to find matches.
The singleplayer campaign is great and worth three bucks. Multiplayer is pretty cool when the servers weren't fricked by some mystery hacker or whatever the frick was going on. Only gripe with multiplayer is that the maps have to be big as frick to give titans space to move around so to prevent it from feeling empty they have a lot of weak NPC soldiers running around to fill the spaces, kind of like in For Honor.

I've found that the only ones who cry about hitscan have zero ability to track. They prefer to hide behind projectiles because they can just spam them and occasionally get lucky kills, then pretend like "they meant to do that" as if it took skill.

experienced titanfall players will often avoid hitscan weapons (which are far and away more powerful than projectile ones) because they're more entertaining. it's not a hard and fast rule but you'll notice it a lot
Most veteran players use meme weapons or guns with long bullet travel time. Of course you can just use the CAR and kill everyone because it's overpowered as frick but after 6h of that you'll get bored and leave.

Veterans likes to pretend that they are playing Tribes: Big Robot Edition and use exclusively projectile weapons instead of hitscan weapons (because hitscan is so hilariously OP that it actually sucks the fun out of the game if you play with it long enough) and I don't blame them. I'm not even good at the game yet I still prefer playing with projectile weapons because I also wanna relieve the glory days of Tribes and it's a frickton more satisfying/fun to play with in a movement shooter than hitscan since it puts more emphasis on moving around during combat to avoid damage rather than hiding behind shit like a little pussy

Hitscan would be fine if it was mostly handicapped by shit reload times and mag sizes or shit damage. That would give these weapons a niche of being the "backup" that you switch to when you know that the enemy is low and snipers that would take so much skill to use that it would outweigh them being literal laser pointers.
Hitscan would be fine if they followed the Counter Strike damage model where only headshots do significant damage. Your shots are instant, but you have to aim at a much smaller target.

The multiplayer is absolutely amazing. But its somewhat dependent on you making your own fun. If you learn the advanced movement with slide hopping and air strafing and grappling simply moving around the level becomes infinitely addicting.

TF2 casualized the speed with just about everything from gravity start to epg boosts to stim being ridiculous compared to TF1, never mind grapple boosts. 1 didn't have a proper campaign and had fewer weapons but its Frontier Defense was way better and like you said the core experience, balance, and maps are still superior to 1.

unironically this isn't really a bad thing, not only are there more sources of speed to mix and match but it means that people can actually experience what movement can get you without having to learn what airstrafing is first, which is good if you want to sell people on movement being fun which is already difficult
grav star still requires you to time jumping into the gravity well, epg boosts are damage boots which means they're crazy in titanfall, stim and grapple are the things that really give you arguably too much free movement but they're fine for a casual movement shooter.

titan loadouts are a give and take of playing into the custom mech fantasy vs readability, I prefer playing against titans with very clear cut and understandable weaknesses over guesswork but I do like the idea of customizing a titan more deeply
burn cards are just fricking stupid, being able to drop a titan at any point if you have the right card is a bad idea, so is shit like amped SP
2's pilot abilities are rad, and grapple serves a nice purpose of allowing bad players to experience what truly fast movement is like with relatively little effort, which is good for onboarding, without being overtly better than stim

Your clip looks good enough to me. You're doing really well especially for someone who just started playing. Only tip I can give is try not to run on the ground as much; you didn't run a lot but in order to be effective in this game you have to break away from habits formed playing other fps games. The fastest guys are always sliding, wall running, bunny hopping etc.

I'm no stranger to fps games since I've been playing them since I was a kid and have thousands of hours in other ones but this is the first I've played where movement is so important. It's been a bit of a struggle to get used to staying off the ground and getting accurate while moving in the air and on walls.
I think you're good enough to practice the more advanced techniques. Understanding subtle aspects of the movement mechanics like jumping off walls quickly for extra speed or getting timing for bunny hopping right are key. I'll link you what helped me learn

Plus nailing people with the pulse blade is extremely satisfying. I think my biggest problem is just keeping up that speed between walls and buildings. I keep getting caught on shit. The catch is respawn doesn't give a shit about titanfall anymore and this update doesn't change that fact
