Set mode does not make the game harder, it just make grinding extremely annoying when you have to level up a weak pokemon
>i-if you find it annoying it's because it's hard! Skill issue bro
No annoying like swatting a fricking fly, something hard would be beating a wolf to death.

It's ot supposed to make it harder. It's supposed to make it fair. You have an unfair advantage by knowing what's coming out ahead of time. It's cheating and frankly disgraceful.
If you can't win without special privileges your opponent doesn't have, you didn't win
>you didn’t win
But I did.
>t-that doesn’t count
But it does.
>my autistic self restrictions and rules matter!
No they don’t.
yeah, if anything I think set mode actually made the game easier for me because it just encourages steamrolling through the game with one Pokemon.
>grinding
Why would set mode matter for wild pokemon encounters? Do you refer defeating trainers as grinding? That's called playing the game, and using switch mode is like wearing floaties and training wheels while drooling.
>and using switch mode is like wearing floaties and training wheels while drooling
yep
not like set mode at all
Not sure what you are getting at. OP is talking about training a lower level mon. Nothing was mentioned about over leveling. And on most games I keep a few bench mons and switch them every so often to spread the XP. You should try it if you have over leveling problems.
Just weaker or vastly lower level? If just weak because lacking moves/evo, make them fight anyway if they have a chance. Just using your carry mons is boring. And if they are low level (Aerodactyl for instance late game in Kanto), always have them lead and turn off set mode temporarily. It really doesn't take long for one low lvl mon to catch up to an adequate lvl. Then turn set mode back on when the mon in question can start to handle fights but itself, even if it's still a bit lower than the rest of your party. Just try to use it more.
>Just weaker or vastly lower level?
Both? Is there a difference??
Point taken, but my point is to push the weak little b***h. If you think it can take on a fight then do it. instead of having mommy/daddy mon do it for the ungrateful bastard.
Well yeah that's the problem actually:
It makes trainer battle like pointless grinding since I have to switch out more than 10 times if I want one of my weaker to get xp.
You're right, switch mode should be the default for all Showdown battles.
Only if you dont know what is the next pokemon your opponent send.
Then it's not switch mode
It is if you can switch pokemon after your ko one.
Switch Mode PVP would be unironically based though, it'd address every single problem of "it's an unfair advantage the enemy doesn't get to use!" just by being included in the only type of battles people actually care about.
yet another problem that could be solved by doubles
no it wouldn't
>using Charizard in FRLG
Rookie mistake. Blastoise is better for solo sweeps, and you can immediately climb over the walls of Surge with a comically overpowered Dugtrio and then simply take advantage of Kanto's nonlinearity to save Erika for when your Blastoise is higher leveled or otherwise packing an ice move.
this is the reality of what happens. Frankly Shift mode helps push you to use a full team, but people would rather use Set mode for being "harder" then complain that the most efficient way to play is by using 1 Pokemon
