Eyes are more almond shaped than basically every other design of someone native to the japan-based regions, which means she's distinctly less generic anime race than most.
I looked up pictures of almond shaped eyes and it showed white, black, etc people so I'm not sure how that narrows her to Asian. It just means she has that shape of eye.
>but that's not race-speci-
That is is irrelevant to the fact that Perrin and Adaman's eye shapes match stereotypical eastern descriptors and depictions more than the literal yamato nadeshiko character. It's the same reason this board can have endless debates on the exact race of dark-skinned characters despite the fact they're generally just anime people.
How is it irrelevant? That's the case you're making, that that shape of eyes indicates Asian. If you want stereotypical East Asian eyes, there's literally Brock who's well known for portraying the Asian eye look, and it looks much different than Adaman and Perrin.
>How is it irrelevant? That's the case you're making
Jesus Christ, let me dumb it down for you;
There is a popularized idea that Asians have narrow eyes. While this is not EXCLUSIVE to those ethnicities it is notable enough for descriptions ranging from poetic to derogatory to generalize that as a specific facial feature for hundreds of years. You are clearly aware of this, as you brought up Brock's eyes.
Now, Adaman and Perrin have eye shapes that are not standard among Pokemon designs as a result of Takegarou's stylistic tendencies. Thus, if someone has the thought that "asian eyes are narrower" and sees Adaman or Perrin standing next to Lt. Surge or Phoebe, they will look "more asian" by comparison even though one of those (Phoebe) is also "Asian" in Pokemon's world. This is ALSO why Nessa is never called "Asian" despite sharing eye shape and designer with Adaman and Perrin, since her place in the setting and being literally brown lets people ignore that part of her face as stylistic. The perception of these traits are altered by the circumstances they are observed in, regardless of the fact that those same traits can be seen elsewhere even limiting things to Pokemon media (Cynthia's eyes being even more narrow for example).

Take's eye designs come in a wide variety though. Adaman and Perrin would obviously be designed closer because they're family and that's the intention, but that doesn't inherently indicate an Asian lean as you even point out with Nessa. It's just something that was done for Adaman as part of the designer's approach to him, which then got carried down to Perrin by association. Of course I grasp the Asian eyes being narrowed trope, but as you've said that's been seen in many characters. So the disconnect I observe is where you decide that it's this family that has the Asian eyes in particular, among narrowed eye characters. There had been a consistency with characters having them in the past like not just Brock, but Mr. Sukizo in the anime and the Hiker class in some of the games for example.

>Take's eye designs come in a wide variety though
I am acutely aware, I've been following Take's work on and off since Katanagatari. >So the disconnect I observe is where you decide that it's this family that has the Asian eyes in particular,
Holy shit anon, at no point in either of those posts did I express the belief that "they have Asian eyes" or that or "they look more Asian than X" are my own. I am solely explaining why someone might interpret wacky character design choices that way as both a basic b***h artgay and someone whose seen fandoms argue over fictional character's identities way too often for no good reason.

You expressed it as a "fact" that they match here:

If you're clarifying you don't now then I obviously won't hold you to it, but I didn't just pull it out of thin air.
Either way, what I'm getting at is just that there are a wide variety of characters that are designed with narrow eyes, so it felt weird to attribute Asian in particular with one set of characters. For instance, Penny has thin eyes, but from what has been observed she's apparently closer to South Asian inspired what with the Peony references. And that's why I don't chalk designs up as East Asian usually unless they're more deliberate, e.g. Brock as mentioned before.

>You expressed it as a "fact" that they match here:
I expressed that they match a pre-existing stereotype more than other designs using a comparison to an intentionally "japanese-coded" character. This is not the same thing as believing the sentiment, which should be abundantly clear from my language in the literal next post. >Either way, what I'm getting at is just that there are a wide variety of characters that are designed with narrow eyes, so it felt weird to attribute Asian in particular with one set of characters.
Again, perception and context. Adaman appears in a game explicitly meant to parallel the settling and annexation of Hokkaido and wears clothes that one would easily see and think of older eras of Japan. Meanwhile a Hiker is a one note npc class that dresses like a modern day outdoorsman, so they get ignored even if they "should" on paper fall under the stereotype. Similarly Penny's identity is tied up in being the terminally online socially awkward hackerman (girl), so there's less reason for someone to make the connection to a race over calling her a tumblrite or some shit.

I understand what you're saying about perception and context, but it sounds selective at best. Kamado wears traditional Japanese clothes as well but then turns around and wears European style knight armor. Yet he's from the same hometown as Beni who was trained in the ways of the ninja, creating a clash of cultures. In the same way, I don't see how it'd be straightforward to make an assumption about Adaman (and Perrin by extension). This is especially since both Diamond and Pearl clans came from overseas to settle in Hisui anyway, not being native.

>but it sounds selective
Because people can be selective in how they recognize patterns and apply, yes. See the endless debates on Nessa's race in /vp/'s archives, or how Team Aqua getting tans was apparently convinced some people here their races were fricked with... despite tans AND goddamn Phoebe and Spenser existing. >Kamado wears traditional Japanese clothes as well but then turns around and wears European style knight armor. Yet he's from the same hometown as Beni who was trained in the ways of the ninja, creating a clash of cultures.
Weird example since Beni and Kamado are pretty straightforward. Between the Galaxy Team's blatant parallels to the Hokkaido Development Commission, the Galaxy Hall being the Pokemon version of the Former Hokkaido Government Office, his wedding day photo where he's wearing a western Tuxedo, the presence of literally every western invention in Jubilife Village, it's abundantly clear that Kamado is supposed to be an Poke-Japanese official involved in the modernization of Poke-Japan, whereas Beni is his bro from Johto who didn't go full Poke-Europe and hung on just long enough to old ninja traditions to see his friend's goals through.

I don't get how people see her as (East) Asian. I just don't see it. Looks like a normal anime character design.
