Seems like they're doing four season (i.e. raid tier) expansions, where the last season doesn't have a new raid but rather you run the previous three raids with modifiers that make it harder. Kinda lazy tbqh.

SL was so bad that people will randomly remember it from time to time. 9.1 was SO UNBELIEVABLY BAD it made half the playerbase quit to go try troonyfantasy14 for a month.
Kind of curious because when 9.1 was about, that's when I stopped playing FFXIV for a while and check out what's going on WoW. Now that WoW players apparently seem to enjoy Dragonflight, I'm back and kicking on FFXIV. It seems me and WoW players are synced in unsync. (Also I liked Shadowlands better than Dragonflight)

The large amount of people quitting the game devastated social anchors and absolutely ruined any notion of attachment anyone had to the Warcraft universe. Any addict still left playing after that will still be playing the game on their deathbed.
There are a group of people (just shy of a million, I'd wager) that have invested over a decade in the game that they are literally unable to leave the game. They have convinced themselves that it's better to wait out the shit game loop in hopes that the game gets good again.
These people see it as perfectly normal to solo instanced content that offers no challenge in the hopes of unlocking legacy mounts for their account. These people have serious issues.

i think i had around like 12 max level characters in the middle of BfA when i quit and somewhere between 4 to 6 million gold, so gold making strategies that can make use of stuff like that is fine

its actually quite amazing how on multiple occasions they have fumbled the ball when it comes to bringing back beloved lore characters. How you frick up an orc expansion I do not know, but how you frick up anything with Arthas THAT bad you deserve to be publicly executed.

You could write a dissertation on how badly Blizzard fricked up Shadowlands, it was a GOLDEN opportunity too. Pandemic was in full force, everybody was at home looking for something to do, all they had to do was put out an expansion that wasn't irredeemable garbage and they would have had a slam dunk. I don't know what the frick they were thinking.
