Eh. I guess it's not for me, but I appreciate the headsup at least.

              >it's still a better Shadowrun experience than the current state of the RPG.
not as good as the Returns trilogy though

Yeah, The first game and HongChingKong had their issues but Dragonfall was pure kino. Even went back to the oldschool Earthdawn crossover lore.

    But why?

Because no matter how little this game has to do with the Shadowrun IP, it's still a better Shadowrun experience than the current state of the RPG.

        if only that were true
        >game called Shadowrun that doesn't even have any shadowrunning in it

          Anonymous

Just because it doesn't have fluff around it doesn't mean it isn't a shadowrun. Extracting an artifact or defending it is simple enough.

Nothing you do in this game is a shadowrun. Shadowruns are where corporations or individuals hire shadowrunners to do covert operations because they don't want to draw attention to themselves. That's why it's called "shadow" (covert) "run" (operation).
This game is a full blown war between a corporation and a resistance movement and doesn't involve any shadowrunning with shadowrunners at all.

also watch the OP video. One of these developers helped with RPG shadowruns like Returns, Dragonfall, and Hong Kong.

Xbox by some miracle realized their servers were messed up and fixed them so now people can play again.

Because no matter how little this game has to do with the Shadowrun IP, it's still a better Shadowrun experience than the current state of the RPG.

Turns out the Xbox 360 Live servers are not actually dead, Microwiener has spent the past few months putting many games back online like CoD and even Nuts and Bolts.
Nothing for OG Xbox though, not unless Microwiener approaches Insignia with a deal or something.

If it was it's own thing it would've probably been well received but it wasnt what fans wanted along with shitting on the previous games

I really did like flying behind people with the glider and cutting them with the katana for that bleed effect. 2edge5u and all but it was a neat mechanic when everything else was just "if you hit them in the back, they die immediately" thing.

Summoning dudes as the trolls was fun too

As far as I knew GFWL was dead and buried, completely shut down and patched out of most games that relied on it. But I have no idea how this works if that's the case.

        Anonymous

Believe it or not, GFWL still exists and any game not having been patched out of it still "functions". The caveat being you need to follow a link straight from Microsoft's website, essentially a direct download link, and delete any previous version you have installed on your PC along with a specific launcher. After that it's a game of patience as you wait for it to download the profile you used on Xbawkz back in the day or created, adding the key and then hopping online.

A lot of these older games are simply attached to an older, more inferior version of the GFWL service, and doing this circumvents the hard lock it used to cause on boot.

        t. current player of various games that still have GFWL

Technically even titles that have had their GFWL removed still exist under the surface. It's only really downloading the game itself and then finding a key for it or using a previous one you had or if it was old enough one of the universal keys. I'm not recommending anyone do that in 2023 for god's sake, but funny to know that someone, somewhere in MS's HQ is keeping the lights on. It's pure tinfoil hat theory but I think GFWL may only shut down if the original Xbox 360 servers do given they share so much of the same DNA.
