Dark Souls is total shit
DARK SOULS 2 WON
I agree. Seeing the original plans for The Gutter and comparing it to the end result goes to show that they did have the ideas and talent to do it. Executing on these ideas and doing it on time and on budget has to be learned.
>Dark Souls 2 being trash is justified because it was a tech demo
Is this the hill DS2gays want to die on now?
>I-it was ambitious, and just couldn't deliver in time
Dark Souls 2 had 4 years of development
Dark Souls 3 had 18 years of development
Elden Ring had 5 years of development, 2 of which under COVID
DS2gays eternally playing victim over the most marketed and shilled by Bamco game that they literally started to develop by committee without involving the series creator is just sad. Accept DS2 is a bastard child and move on
>Dark Souls 3 had 18 years of development
*months
>18 months of devolopment
which clearly shows, dark souls 1 again but this time bloodborne's combat pace but without the good mechanics oh here we go here's anor londo again, oh my god is the Andre the smith??
the only good thing about 3 is Ringed City and even that falls off a cliff once you get to that disgusting low effort swamp
Your master likes the game, it's over. Time to move on now
Elden Ring is BLATANTLY Dark Souls 3: Director's Cut. I don't need Miyazaki to tell me what I'm playing, especially not in some extract with generic statement about how Dark Souls 2 somehow pioneered Elden Ring mechanics by having 4 ring slots or something despite having completely different movement, gameplay, engine, design fundamentals and way the ARPG mechanics work with statistics, buffing, builds and progression.
It even has the same stat requirement breakpoints lmao. You can keep spamming this thread for however you want, and you still won't convince anyone of the opposite
>Elden Ring is BLATANTLY Dark Souls 3: Director's Cut
Man, it's nice to see others feel the same. I rank both games a 7/10.
If elden ring was DS3 it would actually have a single well designed boss
ER has a few lol
Does it?
Yeah, there are a few I liked. Like 5 or so.
DaS3 is the jannetty kwab
Ironic that you post a picture of an enemy that’s a literal reskin from Bloodborne
It's less of a "tech demo" thing, rather DS2 was meant to be much more like Elden Ring in its first few years of development. Basically an open world. When the project was instead moved back to PS3/360 instead of Xbone/PS4 and it was found the progress was too slow, they chopped it up and rearranged it into what we have now.
DS2 was meant to be a way to make money without the main team, because Bandai-NAMCO was looking for making crazy amounts of money for their investors.
They just slapped a bunch of popular trends together not because "they wanted to make Elden Ring", it was just a dollar store Oblivion at first. The team as so dumb they didn't have enough knowledge to make it work.
Bloodborne was made by Miyazaki at the same time the other team did DS2, the ideas from Bloodborne are more present in the later titles than things from DS2.
>DeS
Create the whole new genre
>DS1
Masterpiece, is considered a classic in term of world design
>DS2
Had a big influence on ER's success
>DS3
....
What when wrong?
DS3 refined the genre by massively expanding character movesets with weapon arts and cementing the i-frame roll based playstyle that, while present in DS1/2, wasn't encouraged as the be all end all of the game
>DS3 refined the genre by massively expanding character movesets with weapon arts
By adding one new move per weapon type with some unique ones sprinkled in?
>and cementing the i-frame roll based playstyle that, while present in DS1/2, wasn't encouraged as the be all end all of the game
So made all future From games (Elden Ring included) objectively worse?
>cementing the i-frame roll based playstyle
and that's the problem
What a shit low quality bait. It wouldn't be funnier if it was true with Dark Souls 2 shields being utter trash and hitboxes being too fricked to reliably use them
Dark Souls 3 shields are actually good, unlike Dark Souls 2
If there's one game in the series that's rollspam trash that's Dark Souls 2. You have no reason not to roll because every enemy is too slow to capitalize on your poor/non-use of spacing or blocking or offensiveness.
This is why Elden Ring is so much better.
This is the hardest Dark Souls 2 boss and I just roll and attack the whole game
I don't know what the deal is with DS2's animations. Even "fast" bosses like Lost Sinner or Sir Alonne move like they're underwater
this is what's up with DS2's animations.
Every single mechanic that Dark Souls 2 and Elden Ring share passed through Dark Souls 3. This doesn't change that Dark Souls 2 is garbage. Best you can say is Dark Souls 2 was shit but Fromsoftware could learn from it, but every single Souls game was a stepping stone to Elden Ring, yet Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 are all still as enjoyable despite being very barebones and underdeveloped tech demos for later games.
The Elden Ring similarity feels almost as of an inside joke. "We wanted to make it open world so it's very similar to an actually open world game".
What? This makes no sense. You still can't buff elemental weapons (good). You still need a catalyst fitting to cast buffs and those scale with their default stats (good). There's no forced manual aiming to heavy weapons (good). There's no 90 degrees turn deadzone movement (good). You are actually walking and not sliding on the ground with animations separate from movement (good)... I don't see any similarity with Dark Souls 2
Elden ring is largely regressive. It actually killed fromsoft by taking away anything unique they had ever done. Now it's just generic form slop
moron
>>18 months of devolopment
>which clearly shows
it does, but it ends up being so much better than Dark Souls 2, that using it as template for Elden Ring turned it into Fromsoftware's best game
>dark souls 1 again but this time bloodborne's combat pace but without the good mechanics
It brought back weapon based hyperarmor and FP, it brought weapon skills that are actually useful, unlike trick weapons that don't have a single block frame/perseverance weapon mechanic and evolved the enemy design considerably even from Bloodborne as well as making riposte/parry rewarded for every enemy. That's several, countless steps ahead of what we had in Dark Souls 2, which ultimateoy failed to innovate combat design from Dark Souls 1 while making all the boss fights dudes in armor you fight in circular arenas.
Sorry but elden ring is fotm slop for morons
The genre "souls like" started with DS2, DS1 and Demons Souls used to be different games just like how GTA1 and GTA2 isn't the same as GTA3. It's the game that started it all.
fricking delusional DS2roon drivel
Except it has different moves, what's your point?
Saying that "it was meant" to be like Elden Ring thus Elden Ring takes from it is laughable. What gameplay mechanic does it retain from Dark Souls 2 over Dark Souls 3? Nothing. Even if Dark Souls 2 was an actual open world and not a garbage collection of gauntlets hacked and put together in nonsensical ways into dead ends to pretend the game world is like Lordran it still wouldn't be like Elden Ring in the same way Days Gone isn't.
>fricking delusional DS2roon drivel
many such cases
To this day DS2 is the only FROM game worth playing more than once. Turns out true gamers prefer a game that dares instead of rehashed safe garbage.
>Yui Tanimura was a co-director guys! DS2-2
It's hilarious how they always forget he was a co-director in Dark Souls 3 too
>mfw reading the copes back then about how "they are totally going to fire Tanimura guys"
>fast forward to today
>basically Miyazaki's right hand man
Tanimurabros... We won...
Tanimura directed Dark Souls 2 for the final moments. Even he considers Dark Souls 2 an hackjob. He also directed Dark Souls 3
It's the only game of the series completely dead besides Demon's Souls PS3
>she
it is like an 100% FACT that trans people love DS2, it’s like that one meme where autistic people choose a shit game to spend thousands of hours in
Serious talk, this guy Zulie isn't even trans, he just deleted some old stuff after being called out. He does this character because acoustic people see him as some vtuber, they are "in love" with this female nerdy programmer that datamine games.
Yes it's a man and this was already discussed and proved in the Ganker souls discord channel, the one where trolls are banned.
DS2 has some furry shit, "cat ears", a coffin that let you become a woman... the evidences are clearly there. Also being a game hated made people who don't even play it take sides for the "underdog", their opinion are mostly from twitch streamers or youtubers, no one want to play this shit.
Didn't he post on twitter about nail polish? He is 1000% a troony.
yeah those acoustic people are the loud minority, they really know how to get heard loud and clear.
Cool, doesn't make me want to replay it
Yui Tanimura has made the worst from soft games
>Das2
>das3
>ER
meanwhile the good ones were made by the Sekiro guy or Miyazaki as the one calling the shots.
opinion too rambling, dont care
dark soulsn 1 > 2 > the rest are bad (that includes demons and elden ring even though i havent played er its open world its inherently bad)
I replayed it again, and I really didn't hate it this time. The biggest problems though were obviously the terrible animations (which do have a considerable impact on gameplay), the spastic enemy AI and terrible enemy placement in SotFS.
The DLCs were really cool though. And I appreciate just how open it is compared to the other games.
how about linking the article rather than twitter meta commentary shit you god damned moron
"she" has a wiener and balls
also that post is moronic
the DS2 aspects of Elden Ring are terrible.
The aspects they ripped from Dark Souls III, Bloodborne and Sekiro are what makes it a 9/10.
>that depressed autist has been working on Flames of Old for 4 years
good lord.
AAny other noteworthy DS2 mods come out?
There's DS2LightingEngine, which is what most people waiting for Flames of Old really want instead of Stayd's OC donut steel content. It's a nice lighting overhaul mod for the few hours I played with it.
You probably already know about it but for the few that don't Blue Acolyte is a nice thing to run too, if only for the cheater protection, automated save backups and stuff like Wex Dust.
This is a DLC enemy
This is the equivalend of the Ringed Knight
I literally just roll while he is about to attack and then attack back, over and over.
No punishment for my rollspam, because the enemies can't capitalize on it, and no roll direction is wrong because you almost have to pray them to use a combo or area of effect. Just mindless rollspam garbage. They just didn't understand Dark Souls
This guy is a mook, closer to a Hollow Soldier, or in Ringed City, those little Beggar Hollows that throw Lightning Spears.
Ringed Knight is a heavy, a more apt comparison would be Living Armor foes in the Iron Tower's armories, or Loyce Knights.
I agree, too bad almost all of those experiments turned out fricking terrible.
Kill all Twitter Black folk
ds2gays might give sonic06 apologists a run for their money
