Well OP it's because you are comically wrong. The NES Ninja Gaiden trilogy is beloved because of it's exceptional gameplay and (at the time) very unique cutscenes, which are still incredibly stylish and impressive considering the limitations of the NES. Shinobi isn't a bad time but it doesn't hold a candle to Ninja Gaiden. It plays like a much more conventional platformer, doesn't have any of the flow / continue system that really gets you mastering levels in ninja gaiden. Personally, I also dislike the focus on the shuriken has the main weapon too.

This is clearly Japanese, you have to read it from right to left, meaning The Ninja Gaiden

I remember the standout features were its cutscenes which linked the stages together were very cool. The gameplay was very solid and controls were tight. I do prefer the NES trilogy over the Super Shinobi games probably because I played them first and it stuck with me, but I also love the Super Shinobi games for being just as amazing. Maybe there is a greater sense because I knew I wanted Ninja Gaiden and getting it while Super Shinobi was a free game that was tossed in that ended out to be pretty good for me, but to others it could just be a Nintendo bias contrasted with Sega hate which is prevalent here, but again they are both amazing games that look, sound, and play great.

    >on nes
    >has ninja in the title
    >has a better soundtrack
    >difficulty revolves around especially annoying and cheap enemies/hazards instead of shinobi's more typical limited continue arcade difficulty

NES was a more popular console than the Genesis and Ninja Gaiden got a more popular 6th gen 3D "reboot" too.

Ninja Gaiden 1-3 are all much better than both Shinobi games and Shadow Dancer. I like speed, fluidity, and difficulty in a ninja game. The music in Ninja Gaiden is better too
