    Director got lazy halfway through
Likely Miyazaki abandoned the project a year or so before release to work on Elden Ring and ACVI, which is why the Sekiro DLC got axed
Don't get memed into believing stealth was supposed to be a lazy afterthrough, considering they made prosthetics specifically for it. Terrible level design and mechanics, such a missed opportunity

i've only played tenchu z but last time i played sekiro i used the rikimaru mod because his design is great

Even when you should do stealth, you can just run past shit which is infuriating. Nothing matters except when you are stuck in a boss arena with the magical Demon's Souls fog (for some reason). The very choice to make it a Dark Souls type world instead of mission based with actual focus on stealth is baffling, but Sekiro success lies to being simple enough that even a drooling moron can press L1 at the right time and defend himself while killing the enemy, while you are never forced to engage with any of the non boss elements, you are never usjng your wits and traveling through somethinb like Sen Fortress or an area where getting found means an actually challenging fight

Just mash L1. Even Star Wars Fallen Order is more strict about timing. Game is casual.

not to mention how enemies can sometimes just spot you through walls or on a rooftop really far away, while literally letting you stick a finger in their ear without spotting you other times. it's so fricking inconsistent! and the loud samey music that starts when you get seen is so fricking annoying!

can't argue with that. which is why I want Sekiro 2. to have them fix the stealth and level design. it would be a 10/10 game if that happened.

Zoomer here. This was the only souls game I didn’t like. I like all of them besides this one and idk why. It felt too easy and was just kind of boring. What’s sad is mid of the kingdom is more interesting than Sekiro. I might try it again someday but man going from bloodborne peak to sekiro sucked.

By the way I’m not sure why millennials call souls games hard. When you beat the first one and get used to controls, autism lore, and how the formula works if I’m being honest Mario Kart is harder than these games. I guess we’re all different

      Anonymous

      Yes
There was no reason for Sekiro not to break up the pace of the same exact weapon timing and and defensive moves with well though out level design and meaningful mob encounters that you can't just outrun at any time.
There was also no reason for Ashina to be interconnected and kill its scale when it has an awful level design and progression using idols every 10 meters, the game would greatly benefit from a slower character and a varied approach to challenges besides deflecting everything.

i'm starting to think you didn't play much of the game and didn't pay any attention to the shinobi tools because everything you're b***hing about is in Sekiro

Shinobi tools have nothing to do and have no interesting usage besides combat. The level design is simply awful, in a way you wouldn't expect from Fromsoftware

      Anonymous

Yeah, Sekiro does a shit job of portraying Shinobis and has no real idenity nor play to strengths it should. If I want to be stuck in an arena I could just play Bayonetta

Why are Sekirogays so fragile? If you tell them that a Shinobi game should have a protagonist zooming around 90% of the threats that can aggro only for 10 meters because they are reskinned Souls zombies but use stealth and level design they get all butthurt.
