Shiny has always been a lame term. They should have gone with Shining like the TCG did way back.
Different colored pokemon is way better
>not pokemon of color
shiny is shorter and explains the concept better
they started using shiny in gen 4 because it's what all the fans call them. Nobody says that other shit and would continue to say "shiny" anyways if TPCi decided to be autistic so I'm glad they're not fighting it.
First Partner Pokemon is next, they're delaying the inevitable future of "starter" being the official term
You dumb c**t, "partner" (and by extension "first partner") is how Game Freak describe them in Japanese. NoA adopted the fan term, because the official term was too unwieldy to translate within the parameters of the text limits. TPCi however aren't NoA, thus they're going to toe the company line. And TPC calls them first partners, because that's how Game Freak told them to describe them. The translators give a frick now, they'll never be called starters.
sure gay. I'll see you in >5 years when they're called starters again
Still waiting for the return of Event legendaries though. What makes you think you're owt special?
Go back to bulbapedo
Partner is a fine term, it's just as wieldy as starter and there never should've been an issue with text limits in the first place.
It's the insistence on referring to them by the full title of "first partner" even in a context where they objectively CANNOT be your "first partner" that's moronic, such as Indigo Disk's trailer featuring past starters, the DLC where you'll have been required to obtain at least THREE Pokemon bare minimum before then (your ACTUAL first partner, Koraidon/Miraidon and Ogerpon).
And going by your autistic definition, they wouldn't be starters either. but that's the glory of things, they're a grouping of pokémon, named for their proclivity of being the first offered to beginner trainers due to their inherent shared traits of being easy to raise and docile towards humans from the get-go.
>named for their proclivity of being the first offered to beginner trainers due to their inherent shared traits of being easy to raise and docile towards humans from the get-go.
Which isn't always true, either. Totodile has a tendency to bite anything that moves and is outright stated to be a danger to even its own trainer, Piplup is a prideful Pokemon that doesn't immediately warm up to new trainers, Litten takes a very long time to warm up to anyone and maintains a strict boundary even with those it trusts, and evolution makes some Pokemon far more difficult to get along with like Charmeleon's uncontrolled viciousness, Prinplup's unreasonable ego, Dartix's neat freakishness, or Thwackey being too prone to getting into its rhythm that it loses focus of anything else.
>NoA adopted the fan term, because the official term was too unwieldy to translate within the parameters of the text limits.
yeah it's almost as if that's the entire job of localization and insisting on using direct translations of the japanese terms for everything is fricking moronic
>burger defending burger laziness
How about them splashing rabbits, ya simp c**t? Because that's the standard of burger localisation pre-TPCi, along with "event legendaries" because they assumed the world was too stupid to understand myths are a less likely occurrence to legends because burgers were. Frick you and your educational standards troglodyte.
mythical is the absolute most moronic term in this franchise and event legendary makes far more sense. They just didn't like it because it made it look like 50% of the dex was legendaries
it is the literal japanese definition since Mew itself, event legendary is a fricking mouthful
They've been using legendary and mythical interchangeably ever since Gen1. Every new Mythical they introduced breaks a previously established convention or two. They aren't even "event only" because plenty of them are available through normal gameplay or permanently available methods (Maegarna QR code, Mythical Pecha Berry). It means whatever Game Freak wants it to mean. Completely pointless distinction to have around, it just hurts availability.
No, they haven't because each one they introduced since Mew got found out was called 幻のポケモン or Illusory Pokémon. It was only when they sent it to the americans did confusion break out, because burger executives didn't understand the differences between myths and legends.
Name one thing all mythicals have in common that actually separates them from legendaries
You can't access them without some kind of outside influence as opposed to Legendaries that CAN be encountered without an outside influence.
What about Deoxys, Keldeo, Meloetta
Not available in their debut gen outside of an event
Yes a QR code counts as an event
What makes Iron Leaves and Waking Wake not Mythicals?
No it's not, they are called illusory/fantasy/mirage/phantom pokemon in japanese, "mythical" would have divine connotations which aren't the case, they are just extremely elusive and fictional-feeling, not neccessarily pokemon from a mythology

>nooooo america bad america bad!!!! Muh Japan is the best, translations should be direct translation of japan terms because muh waifu country and muh culture and and and
>"I don't want precise information and context, I want information catered to my moronic subhuman needs!"
partner sounds gay as frick
TCG uses also world RADIANT and I like it
Has been for as back as Gen 5 i think (Could be older tho.)
Gen 5 is when they added the Shiny Charm so it's probably then.
NO! NO! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE POKEMON OF COLOUR!
>SHINY Charm
Hmm...really makes you think, don't leave house without your medical attendant OP
Are you moronic?
bulbapedia said it was differently colored pokemon
They also said it was "First Partner Pokemon" even though Starter is the original and official term.
No it fricking doesn't
I'll take that as a "yes" then
>based on the sound
These motherfrickers blind and have a learning disability? Shiny is a visual adjective.
I called it, sparkling is probably a better adjective though.
>AND ANIMATION
you need to read the WHOLE sentence, anon.
and I said you are a complete moron
everyone at bulbapedia is fricking moronic (and a pedo if you count lewtwo)
tell me about lewtwo
i second this
bulbapedo's admin groom children and spent years debating if the nintendo server breach was real
Go into his liked tweets, he likes shit from Japanese accounts like pic rel
oh so it's fricking nothing
t. Another mentally ill pedo
Dead wrong.
The term used by Gamefreak at first was "Shining Pokemon"
Came here to post this.
Play the fricking game yourself instead of just reading a wiki and pretending.
You know I like when Pokemon inventory shows a different bag or pocket for each type of item, I liked it when
Are zoomers really this moronic?
Yes
scanners and printers being a nightmare to work with has been a staple of office discussions for literal decades.
Cute cope, zoomie
>he didn't watch office space
Because even when used properly they have connectivity and reliability issues. Not because you're too stupid to load it and turn it on.
If you were never taught how to use a scanner how would you know to load it upside down on your first try?
Shiny has always been an official team in the localization, morono, it's in the canon japanese version where they are called "different colored pokemon"
the officiak terms suck ass because gamefreak and TPC insist on expressing everything in diagetic language to maintain the illusion of a cohesive world. this is fine for official releases, but it's not practical for fans who are aware of the game's inner workings and want to discuss them. fan wikis (like, say, bulbapedia) should stick with the terms that have been used for over a decade now, regardless of if they're "official" or not.
they're event legendaries because they're legendaries only available through events.
they're starters because you start with them.
they're shinies because they shine.
bulbapedo owner is a troon that wants to start trends and be important
Same with core series and mainline series. You can't just shift the term mainline to be core so that fancier spinoffs can be called mainline. Every other game series uses mainline for the main series, so the devs are just being cancerous trying to change terminology. Fans shouldn't give them the time of day with this stuff.
uhm, akshually the term is sparkling pokemon of different color m'kay
