If I play Platinum on a R4i type of thing and gameshark the manaphy egg mystery gift does it have the chance to be shiny?
Assuming I reset data if it isn't shiny.

No. The mystery egg will never be shiny when put side-by-side with your trainer SID. You would have to trade it with another save file to have the chance.
So the egg actually changes it's stats when transfered to another Trainer?

No. In fact, this works because eggs do NOT change.
Manaphy is shiny locked, but because an egg's personal value is generated when the egg itself is generated, the shiny lock is only valid for the trainer who first receives the egg. However, a pokemon's OT is the trainer who hatches its egg. Therefore, if you trade the Manaphy egg to another save file, the shiny lock is no longer valid.
Can't you just RNG manip a trainer with the SID or something?
you can rng manip the egg to match the trainer id/sid of your other cart, yes
manipulating the egg is faster and easier than tid manip if you already know the id/sid of the save file you plan to hatch it in
which, even if you don't have any hacked consoles, can be obtained by transferring up a junkmon to the modern games and sysbotting it
That'd absolutely be the easier method, if you can open the save file in PKHex to see the PID of the egg. You can then use Pokefinder to see which TID/SIDs would give a shiny. Then it's just a matter of following the date/delay to get the right IDs in a new save.
If you're already opening the egg in PKHEX why not just hatch the Manaphy and edit it into being a valid shiny instead of fricking around with finding a new ID and trying to hatch it legit? Besides the satisfaction of doing it legit I guess, which might be OP's point in doing it at all I guess.
Mainly self satisfaction, that's why I did it. I've been playing through gens 3+ since I recently lost my X save data (with all of my mons ever), and as a side objective I've been getting (as legally as humanly possible) every legendary and mythical as a shiny. So far in gen 4 I've got a shiny version of them all except for a couple of special cases (Celebi can't be done until GSC VC, Arceus is event only). It got really addicting after just trying to do it once for Latias lmao.
Arceus is doable if you give yourself the Azur Flute.
It was distributed so it really wouldn't matter at this time.
I did do the Hall of Origins Arceus anyways, since I have an idea of how I can being it forward later on. But in DPP it wasn't distributed, so it won't make it to Pokemon bank sadly. It'll be one of the first postgame things I do once I get to BDSP tho lmao.
Only events to get distributed in Platinum is:
Secret key, Items to change rotoms form.
Members Card, Darkrai event
Oaks Letter, Shaymin event.
To get the gradecia flower for Shaymin alt form you need the movie shaymin event pokemon.
The flower will work on any shaymin mind you but you need the movie one for the woman to give you the flower.

But other than Arceus you can 100% get legit shinies from all the other legends and mythics.

Actually that's not true. I coincidentally just caught Shaymin last night in Platinum using Oak's letter, and the woman gave me the flower for having Shaymin in the first slot.

Yeah you could. You'd have to still find a TID/SID to make it shiny, then change the method you got it from to something like "obtained in a link trade".

Not going to spoon-feed a step by step, but here's a rough outline:
>Hatch normally
>Open PKHex, to find the eggs PID
>Open Pokefinder, and look for gen 4 method to RNG TID/SID
>You can search by the PID of the manaphy you just hatched, to see TID/SIDs that would give a shiny.
>once you get a TID/SID combo, plug it into the the Manaphy info in PKHex
>Change obtained method to (I believe it's something like) "Egg obtained in a link trade" (Otherwise it wouldn't be legal).
By eggs PID you mean Manaphy's PID as you just hatched it.
