The thing is that Combusken looks like shit.
Only difference is this one looks COOL and BADASS and is an AWESOME way to build on Combusken's and Torchic's design.

No it makes zero sense. Humanoid designs are not as good at kicking as you know, birds.

Hitmonlee is a humanoid. It kicks. This does not make it the ultimate kicker, and this is just going by Pokémon logic in the first place. Humans were not even meant to kick, it's entirely learned behaviour. A cassowary kick is far stronger by default, though you're probably getting killed by its talons before the impact of the kick.

The legs are certainly an awful lot closer to human legs than bird legs. The only thing it shares with birds is the talons.
It's a fighting wiener but its legs are inspired by boosters with feathered feet. Surely the pose was tweaked because fighting wieners look kinda stupidly off balance, but they still look pretty humanoid in the way they stand.
