I love this little guy.
>73 Attack paired with 85 Speed is totally doable
>Learns signature move Tail Glow at level 21, which is basically Nasty Plot before Nasty Plot was a thing
>Learns 2nd signature move Signal Beam at level 25, which was the best Bug-type move until Gen 4
>Great TM compatibility
What more do you need? A 130 Attack stat with a game-breaking ability? Frick off back to your nu-gen power-creep garbage. Johto and Hoenn have a ton of so-called shitmons that are great fun to use.
this thing is basically indestructible
The real problem is being unable to use it in sinnoh, but in other games it’s really fun.
>being unable to use it in sinnoh
huh? It's pretty easy to get as far as honey mons are concerned
>firefly with worse spatk gets tail glow
what did gamefreak mean by this?
Volbeat and Illumise get the Elemental Punches and have Baton Pass
Volbeat still gets use out of Tail Glow, but it really should have been Illumise’s exclusive move instead. Her whole shtick is that she uses status moves to buff herself and hinder the opponent.
signam beam is a physical move you fricking retad
reread ops post
same reason shadow ball lowers spdef, they didnt know they werent going to do the phys/spec split until the following gen
Who cares just use what you like. I’m not picking Pokémon based on their strength. I used Dustpx because I liked it not because it was a relative challenge.
How did it fare in game?
Not him, but I used one in an Emerald Nuzlocke years ago and he did fairly well. He died, but only because of a stupid mistake I made while level grinding just before Tate and Liza.
Different anon here. I used dustox in oras in a “shit team” run (along with wishcash and mightyena) and he was the best member. toxic, moonlight, double team was stupidly fun. Moment I got quiver dance it was all over.
Sleep powder and leech seed make it fun to use
This and Whimiscott have been great for me in-game and can dab on Pokemon 10+ their own level. Great for catching too with double powder. Also Pelipper. STAB fly and Surf in HM gens give it amazing role compression. Lilligant was fun and carried me throughout gen 5, especially with the additional EXP (I used the trade one).
For pick-3 online I love Frosslass with Taunt, T-Wave, Destiny Bond and Ice Beam. Quiver Dance Venomoth is a blast too.
i'm more of a swords dance + acrobatics enjoyer myself
He's the fastest sleeper in the west. He really helped me cheese Red.
>johto is so piss easy you can beat it with shitmons
yeah
Literally rent free
>johto Pokémon are good enough to be used in their introduction game, ergo Johto is “piss easy”
Fricking idiot
Firmly agree, lotta low BST mons are actually the most fun to use. Kecleon is one of my favorites, it's legitimately OP when used in-game by the player, it effectively serves to counter every single mons that uses moves of types that resist themselves. Considering that's mainly special types, Kecleon's amazing special defense ends up being really helpful too.
This. Wallace’s Milotic can’t do dick against Kecleon.
a legitimate competitive was not a thing until gen 5 so judging mons from first 4 gens on their competitive abilities is dumb
define
>a legitimate competitive
>judging mons from first 4 gens on their competitive abilities is dumb
Smogon allows you to actively play these generations on Showdown to this day, and the explosion of so-called "competitive Pokemon" (not VGC) happened during Gen 4 coinciding with the onset of competitive Poketubing
if anything Gen V is a dark age shrouded in the most obscurity since the first three gens' "competitive"
anyway, no it's not
Honestly not even sure this even counts, genuinely underrated in GSC playthtough. normal stab, and overall decent to good stats except speed.
You don't deserve your bros if you use compgay terms like "shitmon".
Anyway, you're a homosexual just as every person evolving their Tangela.
Reread OP, homosexual. I used the term “shitmon” in a satirical sense to convey my disdain for it. Blow me.
Sure you did metagay.
Whatever you say moron. If I were you I’d start polishing the shoes of the upper class outside your little shithole ghetto so that you’ll have even the slimmest chance of being spared from TND. Probably named your Tangela after some famous monkey rapper.
That’s the only term we currently have for Pokémon that don’t perform well in a competitive context. What else can we call them “competitively challenged”?
low tier mons
Frick off, Tangrowth is a badass evolution. Anyone who says otherwise is a homosexual, especially (You)
"Shitmon" is only a bad word for compgays, for people who enjoy the games it means "hope".
You're 100% right. Whenever I replay games I always use shitmons since it's more fun that way. I used Illumise on my Emerald play through last year
Didn't read your cope metagay.
i agree. we should use the pokemon we like, strength isn't that important. these games are designed for fun.
reminds me of the gamecube games. i used dewgong in gale of darkness since its one of the only surf users in the entire game. ended up being my GOAT. aurora beam + surf made for a solid STAB throughout the game.
DUGAWNG
I've always liked "shitmons" from the very start. Its funner when everything doesn't blow up in 1 hit over and over.
A lot of shitmons are balanced by having faster levelling, so while they suck at doctored lv50/100 stuff they are perfectly fine in a playthrough because they are just at a higher level at any given time.
Very true. You rarely ever see meta Pokémon in the Fast or Erraric growth rate.
good insight
>which was the best Bug-type move until Gen 4
Megahorn was; Signal Beam only became more distributed during Gen 4
>anon is surprised garbage like Volbeat is usable in a game made for babies
Except Volbeat isn’t garbage. I know people who were pleasantly surprised when they gave him a shot. If you wanna say mons like Spinda and Ledian are garbage then go right ahead, but that ain’t Volbeat.
this, Volbeat is fricking goated
