I'm so mindbroken by all the shit I've seen on this board and the Internet that all I can see of this creature is some generic goblin anal voring Toucannon
What do you mean by drastic? What I like is that this desert nomad-type aesthetic means it isn't just "YA LIKE SAND!?!?" or "YA LIKE EGYPT!?!?" like most ground type Eeveelutions designs are, but I'm open to alternatives for all of these.
Anyways, here's my current ghost type candidate. I'd prefer Ethereon rather than Etereon for the name, though.
The physical type Eeveelutions should be exotic variants of the existing (Special) ones :
Vaporeon Dragon (assuming Fairy replaced it )
Jolteon Poison (quills)
Flareon Ground or Flying ?
Glaceon Rock or Steel
Leafeon Bug
Espeon Ground ?
Umbreon Poison or a sleak Steel design.
Not Xenoverse, but I'm also working on collecting the best fake Eeveelution design of each type. Bristleon here is my leading candidate for ground. Any thoughts, gents?
I make sure to picture what a design would look like in a lineup with the canon Eeveelutions while picking them out. I think an important point that a lot of designs miss is that Eeveelutions tend to focus the details on a few specific locations, keeping solid colour across much of the rest of the 'mon. This is why pic related, for example, doesn't work. Subjectively I like this design a lot, but it doesn't fit alongside other Eeveelutions, as it has too many different details (particularly the chest floof and Suicune-like body patterning) in too many different locations.

Now this design, by contrast and for point of comparison, makes a much better stab at a dragon Eevee that can stand alongside other Eevees, and is my current dragon type candidate. At least one person I've shown it to has suggested to me that it's too similar to Vaporeon (leading another friend to suggest giving it a different colour palette. Let me know what you think about that), but you can see how it focuses details away from the majority of the body and into the tail, clawed feet, and spiky head fluff that lends a little bit of edge without going overboard. What I love most, though, are the Chinese dragon whiskers, since they can serve as a counterpart to Sylveon's ribbons.
Ground type is also heavily associated with sand, so I think you can get away with having the Eeveelution be something that clearly lives among the sand, especially as long, strong hind legs are a feature of all Eeveelutions. Still, do let me know if you find a short-limbed burrower design for a ground type Eevee. I'd be interested to see it since, as I mentioned, the overwhelmingly majority of ground type Eeveelutions designs I've seen are "just make it out of sand" or "just make it an Egyptian sphynx" or in some cases both. Not very inspiring, whereas Bristleon is, as you say, beautiful.
[...]
I was gonna go Metal Coat for steel and King's Rock for dragon because these are the only trade evolution items that presently evolve more than one Pokemon, so Eevee's genes responding to them made sense to me. I was actually going to go Moon Stone for poison as a reference to the Nidos, since moon stone is presently the only gen 1 stone that doesn't evolve Eevee, and I was gonna go sun stone for ground since if we're gonna use moon stone, it creates a bit of an unspoken obligation to use sun stone as well, I'd think.
For rock, I had the idea of using this design, since cuddleability is very important for Eeveelutions, and making one literally out of rocks doesn't fit with that. Fossilmons are the other thing that is considered "quintessentially rock type", so such a design still represents the type well, and I was thinking could be acquired by having the local fossil reviving scientist attempt to work on the fossil of an ancient ancestor of Eevee, only for them to tell you the fossil is too badly degraded... but interestingly DOES seem to be charged with energy now... The fossil would then function as an evolution stone to transform a modern Eevee into Tricerion.
It also once again keeps the body detailing limited while emphasizing the tail, claws, and horns. let me know your thoughts.
Actually including the picture would probably help.

Agreed
also these Physical Type evolutions should rely on armour based-items like Rhyperior.
Scales for Dragon
Rocky helmet for Rock
Metal Coat for Steel
??? for Ground
poison gel for Poison
etc

Here's what I have for the flying type, if you'd like to comment. This is supposed to be the shiny, but I actually like it better than the regular colours, since they're just the same uninteresting brown as many existing birbs, and if the ground and rock types are already going to be brown, more colour diversity is probably advisable. I like this one because it reflects the hacky workarounds to problems that real evolution is prone to. Getting an Eevee airborne in this awkward fashion is a better alternative to slapping on extra limbs, I say.

NINTENDO
HIRE THIS MAN not that they will, because they seem to only hire the worst character designers ever
Pleased you approve. I hope these next two aren't disappointing by comparison, but... hear me out, yeah...? In the first place, these are supposed to be paradox forms as you can tell by the names, but they're so under-designed for that purpose that they co-incidentally wind up being just the right amount of designed to work as regular fighting and steel Eeveelutions. See fighting and steel are tricky. The former is tricky because almost everyone tries to crowbar the Eevee into being a martial artist somehow, which results in 99% of the designs having arbitrary Sonic Boom-style sports tape on their bodies and it just doesn't work. Whereas here we have a tribal warrior aesthetic with war paint in place of the tape and it looks WAY better - he's the grumpy (and yet no less adorable than other Eeveelutions for it) protector of the Eevees' tribe. I can just picture a Jolteon nuzzling him and him looking all annoyed... but conspicuously NOT pulling away...
The latter is tricky because most of the ways you can bring across "quintessentially steel" result in either an over-design (common among designs that try to turn the Eevee into a knight in shining armour, must as there is at least one of those designs that I absolutely adore, but as with the dragon type I have to try to be objective here. I will show that one next post, though), or in something that isn't cuddleable. The only design concept for a steel Eevee that I know of that can address both of these concerns is one that's based on those old plastic robot dog pet toy things, and with this design that is exactly what we have. Quite the contrast to the fighting type, this one is INCREDIBLY happy to see you, as one might expect from a companion that's literally programmed to be happy to see you. The original description suggests that this Eeveelution is still flesh and blood underneath the mechanical exterior, which I approve of.
The individual design elements, meanwhile, are surprisingly well-realized for such a mediocre artist. On the fighting type you have the scruffy, tribal furs-like floof without going too overboard, and the same with the markings - the red around the eyes is a nice, unique feature that allows it to have very similar eyes to many other Eeveelutions while still standing out. I also like the ears, which are almost knife-life and shorter than other Eeveelutions. It's a bit less friend-shaped and more ready for action than other Eeveelutions while still ultimately being friend-shaped. I'd be thinking Warreon for the name. Braveon is tempting, but normies would ree at it too much. Probably the only thing I would change is remove the back floof - just have the neck scruff be only around the neck like Eevee and Flareon and have the tail be separate.
On the steel type, you have just enough robotic elements to get the idea across without going overboard. The eyes and floating tail are especially well-realized, and the ears are instantly recognizable even though I can't quite put my finger on where I've seen that exact sort of thing on machines before (someone please jog my memory). With them both having short ears and their contrasting attitudes, Warreon and this one make a nice set as a pair. I'd be thinking Cybereon for the name.
So yeah. Not the most expected place for the fighting and steel designs to come from, but at the same time I feel like they're surprisingly close to ideal. Given them to a better artist and they'd be top-shelf. But what do you guys think?

And finally, he's the armoured steel-type design that I love, but ultimately rejected (even though doing so was somewhat painful for me). Too many design elements, and people I showed this to roundly (and rightly) criticized the armoured elements looking more like something that it's merely wearing rather than something that is intrinsic to its body. There IS a way to do this without eliciting that feeling (Kommo-o, Corviknight), but I have yet to find a steel type Eeveelution design in this vein that pulled it off, or that I liked nearly as much as this one. It's entirely possible to look "straight out of gen 1" (I'd dispute that, in Scovillain's case, but let's go with it for sake of argument) and still look like utter shit, anon.
it's the complete lack of detail, it's arms are just stumps like a fricking Powerpuff girl cartoon and even in that artwork it's tongue isn't actually connected to anything, just kinda floats in it's mouth with shading trying to hide the fact it has no real anatomy
it's a genuinely dog shit design and also just a terrible mom to use, it does absolutely nothing worthwhile with the interesting and unique typing
In fact you can directly compare it to Exeggutor and other stumpy, stout-legged 'mons such as Rhydon and the Nidos and find that all of those are far more detailed. They all have multiple, more sharply contrasting horizontal lines on the torso that serve to break up the silhouette rather than just one that does an inadequate job, more detail on the legs, actual hands and fingers (except Eggs who doesn't have arms), multiple toes (except Nidoking, who has prominent knee-plates), eyes that aren't just empty black pits so that their expressions are more readable, and either horns or leaves on their heads so they aren't left with a weird baldy-headed look to them. Most of Scovilliain is just a smooth blob of green and it looks awful.
I don't have to go back to gen 1, either - Obstagoon, whilst less chonky than the aforementioned gen 1 designs, as is typical for more modern Pokemon fare, has almost all of these same features as well - floof arranged like biker leathers to break up the silhouette, detailed legs with proper hands and multi-toed feet, actual eyes, and coiffed head fur to keep it from looking bald.
Everyone constantly b***hes about over-designing, but there IS such a thing as under-designing as well. Scovile isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it does a damn-side better job of being an appealing, readable design, and gameplay-wise has far more to offer as well, being a fast drought-setter with eruption.
I don't get it either, he's an old timey "what hath science wrought?!" villain which ties a nice little bow on how many designer/mutant peppers there are. His shiny's even got him in a little straitjacket, it's great.
>scovillain is a bad design >”why?” >it’s not overdesigned like my gen 4 and 5 nu-mons
Every fricking time. The same thing happens with Baxcalibur even though it’s the most classic looking Pokemon in years. Zoomers have fricking atrocious taste.

) how it's under-designed compared to even gen 1 'mons. Any response to that? Also, I actually like Baxcalibur's design, but they ruined it by making it look like it had been squished from the sides. Make the 'mon a bit wider and it's fine.
>whataboutism instead of responding to what I actually said
You do know Exeggutor, Rhydon, and the Nidos are more well-remembered and well-regarded than Vileplume for a reason, right?

Exeggutor’s heads have seeds?
Exeggutor’s heads have placenta visible?
Exeggutor has arms and a tail?
Exeggutor has detailed knee anatomy instead of tubes for legs?
Exeggutor has layered plant parts instead of being a tube with lines slapped on it?

Are you naturally this obtuse, or did you have to study?
Yeah, and then he did it again, only to realize too late that Marowak isn't even a good example. Calling everyone he disagrees with a Zoomer is about the extent of his intellectual capacity it seems.
>Exeggutor, Rhydon, and the Nidos are more well-remembered and well-regarded than Vileplume for a reason, right?
The most attention Exeggutor's gotten in years was the Alolan Variant and no one gives a shit about Rhydon anymore outside of "it's actually the first designed Pokemon!!!" trivia.
>The same thing happens with Baxcalibur even though it’s the most classic looking Pokemon in years
Fricking zoomers playing pretend again. No baxcalibur is not classic looking frick off.
I'm so mindbroken by all the shit I've seen on this board and the Internet that all I can see of this creature is some generic goblin anal voring Toucannon
It really does. Xenoverse has some good fakemon designs and GF dropped the ball hard on the long-anticipated chilli pepper 'mon.
overdesigned and drastic but still miles better than pawmot & baxcalibur

Don’t get why Scovillain is hated on, it looks straight out of gen 1 with the simplistic body and vague dinosaur features
zoomers who don't like pokemon that look like pokemon and instead wiener suck overdesigned garbage like haxorus
It's entirely possible to look "straight out of gen 1" (I'd dispute that, in Scovillain's case, but let's go with it for sake of argument) and still look like utter shit, anon.

It's just worse looking Exeggutor with ugly scrawny necks.

Scovile isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it does a damn-side better job of being an appealing, readable design, and gameplay-wise has far more to offer as well, being a fast drought-setter with eruption.
>it looks straight out of gen 1
Agreed, and I don't even particularly like gen 1.
What a moron. Gen 1 IS Pokémon.
Leave.
You first, reddit spacer.
I don't get it either, he's an old timey "what hath science wrought?!" villain which ties a nice little bow on how many designer/mutant peppers there are. His shiny's even got him in a little straitjacket, it's great.
>It looks straight out of gen 1
All it needs is DBZ eyes and I agree
i love him. His rivalry with the dolphin is fun and kino while le tinkastinka and birdman is a forced meme.
Because /vp/, like the rest of Ganker, is a hive of contrarians who don't know what they want.
The only fire/grass type that matters.
>scovillain is a bad design
>”why?”
>it’s not overdesigned like my gen 4 and 5 nu-mons
Every fricking time. The same thing happens with Baxcalibur even though it’s the most classic looking Pokemon in years. Zoomers have fricking atrocious taste.
I pointed out (
) how it's under-designed compared to even gen 1 'mons. Any response to that? Also, I actually like Baxcalibur's design, but they ruined it by making it look like it had been squished from the sides. Make the 'mon a bit wider and it's fine.
>it's under-designed compared to even gen 1 'mons
Sure it is, zoomzoom. Whatever you say.
>whataboutism instead of responding to what I actually said
You do know Exeggutor, Rhydon, and the Nidos are more well-remembered and well-regarded than Vileplume for a reason, right?
Exeggutor? You mean the Pokemon that also has a moronicly simple design that you would also cry about not looking like a nu-mon?
See
. Call me when you have an actual response.
>it’s more detailed because….it just is
Call me when you have an actual response.
>I point out five distinct ways in which Eggs is more detailed, gets dismissed as me saying "it just is".
The absolute state of /vp/, folks
>I point out five distinct ways in which Eggs is more detailed,
Exeggutor’s heads have seeds?
Exeggutor’s heads have placenta visible?
Exeggutor has arms and a tail?
Exeggutor has detailed knee anatomy instead of tubes for legs?
Exeggutor has layered plant parts instead of being a tube with lines slapped on it?
>B-BUT IT HAS TWO TOES!!!
Yeah I sure am glad gen 1 pokemon with single toes don’t exist KEK
>Multiple body lines
>Detailed hands
>Skull mask precludes brain itch from baldness
>Actual eyes
>Weapon lends more dynamism and personality
Are you naturally this obtuse, or did you have to study?
whataboutisim is fricking GAY!
It's the difference between old suit godzillas and legendary godzilla.
>The same thing happens with Baxcalibur even though it’s the most classic looking Pokemon in years
Fricking zoomers playing pretend again. No baxcalibur is not classic looking frick off.
it really dosn't
Drought ?
more like a BURN variant of toxic for Biting moves
Where's the porn?
