ironic considering Tomorrow was the first one i saw of them as a kid and loved the frick out of the song, dad bought me the CD and THEN they started releasing the other music videos. Cementing my love for the band.
I felt the exact opposite. Tomorrow Comes Today was a solid blues song, but Clint Eastwood was a pop song that lasted for about 1-2 minutes too long. Lemme guess, you loved Dare but hated El Manana?
Same anon. It's pretty objectively crap but I'm really nostalgic for that era. It may be bad, but it's bad while embodying the urban feel of the first album that I really liked. I can't bring myself to dislike it.
from the earlier stages I honestly thought she was supposed to be a monkey. I don't know if that was some kind of mandella effect shit from the band literally being called 'gorillaz' or what but she always seemed like kind of a little freak
they did up until humanz. That's where they retconned so much shit like Murdoc suddenly being a feminist and other shit weird ass hardcore liberal shit >"erm gorillaz have always been leftie shit"
Yeah, but it was never TOO in your face. they spoke their message in music, but never really had their characters interact about it and all.

Murdoc looks more and more decaying with every album. He definitely looks a lot older than he did in Phase 1-3.
And they also made 2D look a bit older during Humanz, it even used to look like he was starting to have a receding hairline. But they backtracked all the way back on his design after that album, and he looks young again now lmao. Russel is the only one that hasn't changed at all physically
this, 2d has wrinkles up the wazoo in Saturnz Barz
Russel will die looking like a fresh-faced babe though, he has god-tier genetics I guess. Then again, his size does fluctuate a lot so maybe spine decay is the fruit of his old age.
I think these comments are mostly referencing how she has visible wrinkles in at least this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-7U-FDql1A still hot as frick, Ganker's standards have just been morbidly bloated by samefaced nasuverse girls shocker
>2D's a freak >Noodle had a hard early life
Dude 2d started his career getting fricked up by murdoc so bad his eyes filled with blood. Noodle isn't exactly normal either because she's a super soldier. These are characters that don't need to age and besides can easily pull any in universe explanation out their ass to stay looking young because everything about their situation has always been ridiculous.
The only character we ever see physically grow is noodle so it makes sense she look older. that is other than murdoc, but I think the only thing murdoc grows out of besides being more green is how to be less of a nonce.
Also frick that knob while we're at it. Dude killed Dennis Rodman.
i would say "yeah she's asian and asian people don't hit the wall until their 50s" but then i remember she smokes and drinks and has bad habits that she picked up from the rest, so that probably contributed to her looking bad.
SM has incredible bangers. Strange Timez, Pac Man, Desolé, The Lost Chord and Chalk Tablet Towers are definitely the best music Gorillaz has done since Plastic Beach. Easy A tier album
Pink Phantom and Friday 13th are definitely one of the weaker tracks but come on, anon. Fricking Pac-Man, Desole and The Lost Chord alone elevated this shit to one of their best works
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLKZKmdZEjM
I think this is their best song in a quite a few years tbh >inb4 black womyn and fr*nch
The music is still good
I will never understand the hate for black artists collabing with Gorillaz, their first breakout hit had a fricking black rapper in it
Humanz was horrid. Not that anon, but I liked Aries from Song Machine, and Tranz from The Now Now. Haven't really listened to the rest, but those two songs really had some strong Gorillaz/Demon Days vibes.
Song Machine is actually great. Perfectly on the level of their old albums. The Now Now is not as good, but it's worth the listen, some pretty nice songs there. It's got a more chill and consistent vibe overall. Feels like a fully fleshed out The Fall, if that makes sense
>Plastic Beach in S
lol
lmao
no really, only Empire Ants and Melancholy Hill are the only decently good songs from that song, everything else is straight trash.

>Shitty DudeWeedLOL like beat and vocals
yeah homie, really. If it wasn't for Empire Ants this album would be in the fricking trash heap alongside Song Machine
Wrong. Everything on the album is kino except Sweep Stakes and Welcome to the World of the plastic beach. I can't say Super Fast Jellyfish is terrible but I can't call it good. >inb4
Sweep Stakes just sucks, sorry, it just does.
Welcome to the world suffers from Snoop Dogg, who's entire thing has been "it's snoop dogg, like it because it's him" for the last 15-20 years.
I'm sorry, I've never listened to his breakthrough albums and while I'm sure he was revolutionary for hip hop he doesn't get a free pass for rapping a few lines and showing up in funny clothing from time to time.
Damon should unironically just work with Andre 3000 more often, that guy actually delivers good music.
>Humanz in bottom tier
I get you homosexuals hate "MUH GUESTS VOCALS" but tracks like Busted and Blue and Apprentice alone make that album atleast a B or even A tier.
Humanz was a fricking mess, bro. I'm not even talking guest vocals here, you got Deluxe tracks that should have been in the main album (Ticker Tape, The Apprentice, Out of Body), tracks in the main album that were clearly unfinished (Sex Murder Party, OG version of Carnival) and We Got The Power which is the worst track this band has ever made.
I don't hate Humanz because I think it's all shit, I hate Humanz because it had potential and Damon and whoever the frick produced it fricked it all up
The facile songs of Gorillaz's Plastic Beach (2010) relied on rhythmic tricks (the bouncing synth-pop beat a` la Safety Dance of Stylo, the swampy African polyrhythm of the rap Sweepstakes, Superfast Jellyfish), vocal tricks (the anemic rigmarole of Rhinestone, the easy-listening laments of On Melancholy Hill and To Binge) or instrumental tricks (the smooth orchestral rap of Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach, the lively Middle Eastern dance with industrial beat that battles the rap of White Flag) to sustain interest. Shamelessly derivative, the magniloquent synth-pop of Empire Ants was nonetheless a major addition to their radio-friendly ditties.
yeah but there's some points in the album where its like holy frick just get to the point, like the ending to clint eastwood or every planet we reach is dead
>Should a game series change its art style with each new installment?
Nah. I want a sequel in content/story/mechanics, maybe scope. I don't mind using the same assets/art style imo, the continuity in visuals and sound can be nice too.
I'd only say so if it actually commits to it on a regular basis. Doesn't excuse if a certain incarnation looks bad (see that new Monkey Island game, for example), but I can at least understand it more if it's made standard.
the tone shift from the tropical, smooth atmosphere of the first half (for some reason I always imagine that if the song ever got a video it'd be noodle shipwrecked on a deserted island after Melancholy Hill) to the wild, harsh synthetic psychedelia of the second half is so legendary. Love that song. Also like how Superfast Jellyfish seamlessly transitions into it.
My favorite - FAVORITE transition on any of their albums is the transition from Dirty Harry to Feel Good Inc, where the end is the kids laughing, leading into Del La Sol's laugh.
So fricking good.
Hong Kong and Melancholy Hill are tied for my favorite songs of all time, like just in general.
I also really, really love Stop the Dams. I have to listen to it before 9AM or else it won't feel right.
It's weird how Gorrillaz are able to be all over the place, but I don't mean it in a bad way
It's actually impressive how Damon Albarn has been able to reinvent his music so much and keep up with trends as the years went on, but sometimes he gets too much into trying something new and misses horribly. Anyways, I respect the fact that he is willing to try out after every try. It's not Autechre levels of experimentation, but it's quite a lot considering Gorrillaz makes pop music.
Song Machine is kinda good all things considered
That's the gag. Gorillaz is an "artificial" band, the actual band members are actually expendable, and it's designed to be successful pop music, but the guy running the show is using the "mass produced pop" band to get experimental in ways your average band can't be.
Nah, imo its just as stupid as David Bowie trying 30 genres, release 10 albums in 10 years with only around 5 top hit singles in that span.
and no, Blackstar isnt even that good
>David Bowie trying 30 genres, release 10 albums in 10 years with only around 5 top hit singles in that span.
And remembered by everyone who makes music as one of the most influential artists ever produced.
I don't agree, the fact that David Bowie was able to actually make contenders for goat albums in some genres (Ziggy Stardust for Glam Rock, which as Lou Reed's Transistor among the list) and released 3 amazing albums back to back in the span of 3 years is impressive as frick. Heroes and Low are an amazing feat.
He might be gimmicky, but he had a great intuition fow knowing what made a genre good and exploited it, for better or worse
>David Bowie trying 30 genres, release 10 albums in 10 years with only around 5 top hit singles in that span.
And remembered by everyone who makes music as one of the most influential artists ever produced.
You dumb Black folk dont even understand i was talking about Bowie's 90s/00s era. Its understandable. They were shit
It's not peak Bowie, but I'm partial to I'm Afraid of Americans, and that wasn't a chart topper.
Gorillaz is a collaboration between Damon Albarn and Dan "The Automator" Nakamura.
Gorillaz's Demon Days (EMI, 2005) was de facto a solo Albarn album (despite the production of studio wizard Brian Burton and guests such as Neneh Cherry, Martina Topley-Bird, Shaun Ryder, a couple of choirs and especially guitarist Simon Tong) but no less inventive, just serious instead of comic, offering the same whirlwind of party music (Feel Good Inc, which would remain their biggest hit, Dirty Harry, that weds a children choir intoning an African chant with Kraftwerk-ian machine music and, after two minutes, mutates into a trivial rap), hip-hop (Dare, one of their classics, November has Come), rock (Kids With Guns, in which the vocalists dialog lazily over a simple guitar pattern that works as a rhythm section while the amount of noise increases until it drowns the vocals), blues (Every Planet We Reach Is Dead), pop, electronica (Last Living Souls, with a shrill bouncy beat, dub-like echoes and dreamy vocals), etc.
The truth is that Gorillaz's The Singles Collection 2001-2011 is their only album that is truly worth having.
After a long hiatus, Gorillaz returned with increasingly boring albums, despite the notable collaborators on each one: Humanz (2017), with the atmospheric hip-hop Saturnz Barz, The Now Now (2018), with Humility, and Song Machine Season One (2020), with Aries that harkens back to dance-pop of the Pet Shop Boys generation.
Is this some sort of Scaruffi meme? I agree that the post-Plastic Beach output has been pretty bad, but I actually quite like the flow of Demon Days and Plastic Beach. That singles collection also skips some of my favorite tracks

So how come we haven't gotten an album like Demon Dayz/Plastic Beach in ages? It feels like all that's posted on the Gorillaz channel are remixes, covers and one-off songs.
>Buy 3 tickets to Gorillaz in NYC for me, my sister, and my gf. >Floor stage tickets. Yeah but somehow I have to convince someone to pay me first before I send the tickets by text. I'd be happy to do so even in person but people are scared little babies and will probably think I'll run away or something.

I don't care if homies think Demon Days is overrated, shit is fantastic.
I love very track on Demon Days and while I love PB, I don't love every track on it.
Demon Days = Plastic Beach > DoYaThing > Gorillaz > Song Machine > D-Sides > The Fall = The Now Now > 2-3 songs on Humanz > ACTUAL SHIT > rest of Humanz
CN israelites holding strong onto the IP in case of reboots, they didn't want Jamie's style and mature elements of the band to cling to the character especially if the band increased in popularity again.
I really wish they've done something more with Ace. I would have expected to get at least 1 music video that was centered on him. It was dissapointing how minor his role was
>have to clear EVERY word spoken by Ace through CN lawyers >would also have to pay out for the VA
He was gonna talk in Tranz, but they had to drop it since it would cost too much.
Murdoc has actually gotten noticeably younger each iteration and it's speculated to be another weird quirk of if Satanism and paranormal nature, like he's aging back words.
>What the ever frick happened to FIFA games soundtracks? They were fricking goat from 2002 to 2011.
21 had a great soundtrack, although nothing like the late 00's
22 was pretty bad, very unfortunate
they really turned up the Black rhythms and tribal music since those are the target demographics now, but they still pick good songs every once and a while
Yes, if you're a British musician your wife is a israelite and Blacks and Muslims are the future of the UK. Every single one of them is like this except Morrissey.
It's incredible just how shit nu-gorillaz is. Not only is the music is ass (Nownow/song machinegays can suck a fat dick), the characters also look like shit now.
I recently found out the Gorillaz is basically just the lead singer from Blur, known almost exclusively for the "Woohoo" song from the 90s, which blew my mind. I knew it wasn't a real band, but I never realized it was one guy or a person from another band.

>"woohoo" song from the 90s.
So funny that you mention that. Blur was britpop which wasn't popular at all during the 90s in America, because of Grunge via Nirvana. Song No. 2, "Woo Hoo", is a parody song making fun of Grunge.
However, despite being a parody it sounded like Grunge, so Americans loved it and Blur became known for it even though Blur's music is usually up beat Beatles inspired pop rock.
Same shit happened with the Cranberries and Zombie, but they intentionally "sold out" to grunge with that.
It's kind of like how Chumba Wumba is known for like one song and all their other shit is basically just harder rock or Moby-esque shit.
Cranberries had a handful of songs that were popular in the US, but yeah Song 2 is all I've heard from Blur. However, I never associated it as sounding like grunge, but I've also never been a huge grunge person.
I like most of what they've done. It's funny because there's never been a single thread where any album is consistently liked or hated. I've never encountered another band with a reaction like this.
Most people agree that the closest Rap and Rock will ever synthesize is Death Grips and that most Gorillaz tracks have aged poorly. Damon's voice simply never worked with it an you can really tell the guest artist just pull shit out of their ass most of the time.
>Be metalgay complete with the greasy long hair and denim jacket >People act surprised when I say I like Gorillaz
It's been happening for 20 years dammit
since this seems to be a good place to ask: what the frick happened to Ganker? I used to love that board, but now it's basically unusable. It feels like nobody there listens to music that isn't kpop or rap anymore. I learned about so many great artists on there, but it feels like the culture that fostered that environment is just gone. I didn't realize how much I missed casually discussing music I liked with people who knew what I was talking about until this thread. Where did all those anons go?
I just don't know where else to go at this point. I've used this site for going on half my life, but I feel like the kind of chill, funny, anonymous discussion I came here for just left at some point. I don't like hanging around just to complain, and there are some good threads here and there... I guess I just wish altchans weren't all dead/hyper specific.
>Sadly that's how every board is now
/m/ is still completely fine despite numerous attempts by gays to turn the board into retro Ganker.
I think a good solution to Ganker's problem is to make a /kr/ board because it's pretty clear now that asiatic culture isn't a just a fad anymore and it's here to stay.
generals happened. i have much to wax pretentious about this about how it reflects culture at large, but general threads insulated and atomized the individual subcultures that were otherwise interacting. genre discussion became specialized and you end up being able to meaningfully discuss things with knowledgeable people only in respective general threads, instead of that discussion coming about organically.
kpop is self-contained and would be a misdiagnosis to lay anything on them other than being really fricking active for whatever reason. the board culture of Ganker is lost because the good posters moved to the general threads
i think it comes about as a reaction to shitposting reaching a terminal level that makes it feel like discussion is otherwise inconceivable. there are only so many times someone can make a sincerely-felt post about their interest and be shit on, before those people start wanting to seek out each other more explicitly
i look at /film/ on Ganker and do not envision that board facilitating the means to allow talking about artsy films otherwise, in between all the political shitposting and garbage posts. i think this is simply the consequence of people wanting to somewhat take discussion on Ganker seriously but Ganker being really lax on moderation, on account of the nature of its anonymous and ephemeral content. yet that anonymity and ephemerality is exactly what can produce legitimately compelling interactions, as opposed to how people operate on traditional forums where there is an ego or upvote count attached to every post, which itself produces a level of self-moderation that inhibits the type of organic Human-ness you can find on Ganker. i don't know of a good goldilocks type solution here
The goldilocks solution is for mods to do their jobs and ban shitposters, flamewars, politics from the boards where those things are banned. We literally have the rules in place to make this site good and the mods refuse to do shit besides ERP in their irc all day.
I posted my favorite artist and got called a contrarian because he makes indie music. Zoomers took over /x, /fa, /mu and are taking over /a by spamming shonen shit every day.
I posted my favorite artist and got called a contrarian because he makes indie music. Zoomers took over /x, /fa, /mu and are taking over /a by spamming shonen shit every day.
Maybe but I like the first iteration of the gorillaz the most.
me too bro phase 1 was SOVL incarnate
>all those kino flash websites for all the phases up to plastic beach that we will never get back

Why did they make adult Noodle so ugly?
Jamie likes trashy girls it seems
returning to her childhood state
Always hated this video, was the first one they released and it made me cringe, the song being boring as FRICK didn't help either.
When they released the Clint Eastwood vid I changed my mind on the spot.
Why don't you like it? Too much them standing around with their hands in their pockets lookin' pensive and edgy?
Yeah, they look so "daring" and "cool" made it seem like some shit an exec thougt 90's kids liked and wanted to cash in onto what Daft Punk sirta did, barely any animation and the song is super sad/boring, why tf did they release this as their first vid is beyond me, but it might've been because it was cheaper.
Because they had no money for a video and did it as cheap as they could.
Tomorrow comes today is one of my favorite tracks of theirs.
I gotcha anon. I like the song itself and find its gloominess more soothing than boring but the video is definitely one of the worst ones.
ironic considering Tomorrow was the first one i saw of them as a kid and loved the frick out of the song, dad bought me the CD and THEN they started releasing the other music videos. Cementing my love for the band.
I felt the exact opposite. Tomorrow Comes Today was a solid blues song, but Clint Eastwood was a pop song that lasted for about 1-2 minutes too long. Lemme guess, you loved Dare but hated El Manana?
Not that anon. But I love both those songs. Best ones on Demon Days for me, after Feel Good Inc. (obviously)
No, I like both of those, El Mañana has a cool vid too.
The song TCT was boring but not bad, was mostly talking about the vid.
Meh, I get it, but I'd say it fits the song far better than the music video for Journey's Separate Ways.
to be honest Tomorrow Comes Today's video has such a strong Newgrounds 00s vibe that I can't help but feel nostalgic.
i remember downloading that off limewire and wondering if it was even real
Same anon. It's pretty objectively crap but I'm really nostalgic for that era. It may be bad, but it's bad while embodying the urban feel of the first album that I really liked. I can't bring myself to dislike it.
She's the best she's ever been in the Tranz music video and they instantly downgraded her right after
She's always been ugly
from the earlier stages I honestly thought she was supposed to be a monkey. I don't know if that was some kind of mandella effect shit from the band literally being called 'gorillaz' or what but she always seemed like kind of a little freak
all the early art has them vaguely resembling apes
All of them have pretty simian designs
>inb4 especially russel
Jamie Hewlett is a libtard
She canonically goes to hell and back
The frick? this shit has lore?
>does gorillaz have lore
oh boy
A shit-ton of lore.
Well, up until Plastic Beach.
After that they kinda stopped caring.
I like how they finally started to care again only because people complained and of course they go back to Plastic Beach.
they did up until humanz. That's where they retconned so much shit like Murdoc suddenly being a feminist and other shit weird ass hardcore liberal shit
>"erm gorillaz have always been leftie shit"
Yeah, but it was never TOO in your face. they spoke their message in music, but never really had their characters interact about it and all.
murdoc makes a fricking clone of noodle that he tricks out with cyborg implants so yeah
They wrote a fake biography and everything after Demon Days
30 year old women hit the wall. Jamie was being honest. Damn shame the Gorillaz broke up during her prime.
I don't know but I hate it. The rest of the cast looks young as frick as they should be because they're fricking toons but Noodle MUST look like an old lady for some reason. Makes no sense.
I'm pretty sure everyone has their share of suffering in the band, 2D especially dealt with tons of stress and abuse from the beginning but again he looks really young.
>The rest of the cast looks young as frick
I don't like hags but I don't know what all you gays are on about. I think she still looks good.
She's always been an ugly little monkey child, you just liked her because you want to frick kids.
>ugly
lotta gays in this thread
That's just tall DARE noodle, not the adult noodle anon's talking about.
Anon, tall Noodle is adult Noodle.
No. This is adult Noodle
but its from the most recent album so how did they make her ugly if she still looks like this
I think these comments are mostly referencing how she has visible wrinkles in at least this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-7U-FDql1A
still hot as frick, Ganker's standards have just been morbidly bloated by samefaced nasuverse girls shocker
Her design is inconsistent. Jamie either ups the wrinkles or makes her look hot. She looked pretty hot in Tranz, or in the watch commercial.
Her design in Saturnz Barz is my favorite aside from DARE I think. The shades really sell it.
>Japanese girl gets the room with the tentacle monster
deep...
The tentacle monster looks like it did a fusion dance with an ugly bastard.
it's dem lips
I thought thick lips are supposed to be attractive what gives
it is a one eyed monster.
There's the interview I was talking about. See she looks so cute here.
hes constantly giving the characters new outfits so it makes sense some designs work and others dont, its mainly the haircut
And those brow lines and eyebags.
>that subtle jiggle whens shes going down the stairs
this
It's fine when her eyes are covered, but she looks like a used catcher's mitt when her bangs are short.
She looks good there and in her interview with 2d but then you have instances where she looks like this.
but she looks great in the lost chord
She looks older than I'm ready for
She looks really cute in that pic. I don't see the problem
she has 3 light wrinkles therefore my dick recedes in unspoken distaste
w- w- what's she gunna do with those gloves
wait.... that is suppose to be a chick?
yessir
well alright.. i thought all this time when a male voiced over her i thought the character was a dude.
chink shermie
Dude she's like late 30s or something now.
She can't be because 2d is 44 and look at him
2D's a freak and Noodle had a hard early life so she has wrinkles now
>2D's a freak
>Noodle had a hard early life
Dude 2d started his career getting fricked up by murdoc so bad his eyes filled with blood.
2d has chronic babyface
She's like 32.
Noodle has always been weird looking. It's part of why she is unique and I love her.
i would say "yeah she's asian and asian people don't hit the wall until their 50s" but then i remember she smokes and drinks and has bad habits that she picked up from the rest, so that probably contributed to her looking bad.
I wanna frick tween-cyborg Noodle
Demon Days was the peak of the designs in Gorillaz. It's been good all the way through, but that era just had the perfect art style going.
I'M THE SHIT
Man Growrillas were so bad for so long
Nah, The Now Now is a solid B tier. Definitely better than The Fall
What's the third album in A tier ?
Song Machine, that's the last one they released a couple years ago. It's got a ton of music videos. Check it out, it was pretty great.
>Song Machine
>The best
The Pink Phantom and that one song where it's just the members fading over a rapper drown it down to C tier.
Pink Phantom is a crime against music.
The pink phantom was 100% some kind of vanity thing.
No it was Albarn thinking his daughter would find him cooler if he included auto-tuned Black person with an Elton John collaboration.
I think this is their best song in a quite a few years tbh
>inb4 black womyn and fr*nch
The music is still good
You can't really like Gorrillaz songs without tolerating nogs since 99% of the songs feature one.
I will never understand the hate for black artists collabing with Gorillaz, their first breakout hit had a fricking black rapper in it
Sound Machine, the latest album. It's the best Gorillaz in like a decade
>plastic beach in s tier
No.
Absolute let down after the 11/10 perfection of demon days. Can you dig it like a spigot?
Plastic Beach > Demon Days > The Now Now > Song Machine > D Sides > Gorillaz (it's really not *that* good) >>>>>>>>> The Fall > Humanz
Demon days is overrated as shit and I dislike feel good inc, Song Machine is better IMO just by a bit.
Humanz was so fricking dogshit I stopped buying vinyl because of it. I skipped song machine and The Now Now, are those any good?
Song Machine is great.
Humanz was horrid. Not that anon, but I liked Aries from Song Machine, and Tranz from The Now Now. Haven't really listened to the rest, but those two songs really had some strong Gorillaz/Demon Days vibes.
>Tranz from The Now Now. Haven't really listened to the rest
I like Hollywood, Sorcererz and Fire Flies a lot. Definitely recommended
Song Machine is actually great. Perfectly on the level of their old albums. The Now Now is not as good, but it's worth the listen, some pretty nice songs there. It's got a more chill and consistent vibe overall. Feels like a fully fleshed out The Fall, if that makes sense
The Now Now is consistently okay while Song Machine is some Pre-Humanz quality of Gorillaz, easily of their best
The Now Now is like The Fall 2.0. Basically made because Humanz was despised and when Damon asked why people said "Just do a 2D focused album".
Frick you, D-Sides was great.
Plastic beach would be better
had the band not stupidly cut the plot of it short.
>stupidly
One of their most successful albums also made them broke. They could not finish because no money.
They literally run out of budget. Not really something they decided to cut short on a whim
remember what they took from you
>Plastic Beach in S
lol
lmao
no really, only Empire Ants and Melancholy Hill are the only decently good songs from that song, everything else is straight trash.
>he doesn't like To Binge

>Shitty DudeWeedLOL like beat and vocals
yeah homie, really. If it wasn't for Empire Ants this album would be in the fricking trash heap alongside Song Machine
>DudeWeedLOL
no one tell him about clint eastwood
You don't like rhinestones eyes?
rhinestone eyes is ruined to me if only because I hear
>YEAH, I LIKE BIG DICK
and not "THAT'S ELECTRIC"
That's pretty gay
motherfricker you go back and listen to it and tell me you don't hear it.
I swear I just listened to it a lot recently, it's why I brought it up. I did have to look up the lyrics because I wasn't sure but I never heard dick.
She is saying that. Murdoc couldn't turn Robo-Noodles wiener-hungry mode off in the studio.
The frick ever happened to Del?
I wish he'd come back and do stuff with them. Maybe he's reached out I dunno.
Just remember that he brought all this so you could survive when law is lawless
Feelings, sensations that you thought was dead. No squeelin’, remember that it’s all in your head
I don't hate Humanz because I think it's all shit, I hate Humanz because it had potential and Damon and whoever the frick produced it fricked it all up
Was it Humanz or Song Machine that was basically Damon running down his israelite daughter's favorite artists list?
I think it was Humanz
Yeah
Machine had a release? I thought that was just a web series thing.
They released the album after they made all the videos.
Humanz was so low down the list comparatively it needs to be in like Q-tier
Feel Good inc immediately makes Demon Days and S grade album.
Its a perfect album, there is no low point.
yeah but there's some points in the album where its like holy frick just get to the point, like the ending to clint eastwood or every planet we reach is dead
You gotta have a breather sometimes anon. it makes you appreciate the whole package.
Please swap demon days and plastic beach ODAJI NI
>the fall below their debut
Shit list.
plastic beach is overrated
song machine sucks
the fall and TNN are B-tier but otherwise great
humanz is A-tier, fite me
I remember Demon Days' album art being iconic and being the chosen album art to show on every piece of iPod marketing.
I also remember the state of Ganker when Plastic Beach dropped.
I only like self titled and demon days
For me, its Phase 2
They should've kept her hair over her eyes.
Cracker Island is really good.

>Should a game series change its art style with each new installment?
Nah. I want a sequel in content/story/mechanics, maybe scope. I don't mind using the same assets/art style imo, the continuity in visuals and sound can be nice too.
>adult noodle has bouncing boobies
Hehehehehe
I'd only say so if it actually commits to it on a regular basis. Doesn't excuse if a certain incarnation looks bad (see that new Monkey Island game, for example), but I can at least understand it more if it's made standard.
i just realized that Miho Hatori voiced early noodle. Shes the woman in Cibo Matto the band that did birthday cake in jet set radio
Oh no
THAT song
Post your favorite tracks. For me? It's Hong Kong.
Fricking love me Empire Ants. I love the chill music tracks in PB.
the tone shift from the tropical, smooth atmosphere of the first half (for some reason I always imagine that if the song ever got a video it'd be noodle shipwrecked on a deserted island after Melancholy Hill) to the wild, harsh synthetic psychedelia of the second half is so legendary.
I totally forgot. That's a great one too.
Hong Kong and Melancholy Hill are tied for my favorite songs of all time, like just in general.
I also really, really love Stop the Dams.
I have to listen to it before 9AM or else it won't feel right.
Dirty Harry. Honorable mention of Rock The House and Rock It
M1A1 goes hard
November has come
>the artist actually thought that a precocious asian child was an original idea
She was originally voiced by the lady from cibo matto
You dumb Black folk dont even understand i was talking about Bowie's 90s/00s era. Its understandable. They were shit
It's not peak Bowie, but I'm partial to I'm Afraid of Americans, and that wasn't a chart topper.
Is this some sort of Scaruffi meme? I agree that the post-Plastic Beach output has been pretty bad, but I actually quite like the flow of Demon Days and Plastic Beach. That singles collection also skips some of my favorite tracks
>which as Lou Reed's Transistor among the list
Which Bowie also produced and sang on
I'll never forgive that Black person for shittalking my guy Gary Numan
I still like Blur the best.
>asian kid

So how come we haven't gotten an album like Demon Dayz/Plastic Beach in ages? It feels like all that's posted on the Gorillaz channel are remixes, covers and one-off songs.
You definitely haven't been paying attention in ages then
We've gotten like four albums after Plastic Beach, anon, with a new one dropping soon
>Buy 3 tickets to Gorillaz in NYC for me, my sister, and my gf.
>Floor stage tickets. Paid $400 in total
>Even bought them early
>gf and I suddenly broke up (but it was gonna happen sometime now that I think back)
>Decided that I can now travel so I'll be out of the country
>Have no idea how to sell these tickets because they are mobile.
cant you print them and give it to the person directly after they pay? that would be a safe way
Yeah but somehow I have to convince someone to pay me first before I send the tickets by text. I'd be happy to do so even in person but people are scared little babies and will probably think I'll run away or something.
thats the hustle of buying second hand shit
and printing isn't a good idea because i'd still have the original. I could be accused of going to the concert with the original ticket anyway.
They're playing in Chicago, I am thinking of getting a ticket myself.
give em to me I’ll go
how?
you have them saved on to an app? like Dice or AXS or some shit?

JUST GIVE ME MORE SONGS WITH DAMON IN THEM AS THE MAIN VOCALIST
The Fall
That was my issue with one of the albums. I got tired of guests. Never went back to that album.
An official gorillaz video game when? We're getting that cartoon still apparently
cracker island came out and silent running was leaked. so far the former sounds good and the latter is great.
Here's an unofficial version of Silent Running. Cracker Island is out already.
damn this is good
facts. I don't feel too worried about the actual song sounding different because this dude got Cracker Island 90% accurate.
the feet picture in that new art book is fricking rancid though that's for sure

soon
Gorillaz should have made a show ten years ago at least
>We will never see a Gorillaz show in the phase 1 style
Lame, atleast we got those short skits
Modern gorillaz art direction is bad, early-mid 2000’s would’ve been the time.
it's too late for that it should have been made years ago
that MTV cribs bit was and is still the funniest shit
>murdoc trickshotting his piss
a shame we never got a full series of that
Demon Days = Plastic Beach > DoYaThing > Gorillaz > Song Machine > D-Sides > The Fall = The Now Now > 2-3 songs on Humanz > ACTUAL SHIT > rest of Humanz
Murdoc is a knob
a c**t even
>Ace is never coming back.
CN israelites holding strong onto the IP in case of reboots, they didn't want Jamie's style and mature elements of the band to cling to the character especially if the band increased in popularity again.
Just enjoy it for what it was. A cool moment in history.
I really wish they've done something more with Ace. I would have expected to get at least 1 music video that was centered on him. It was dissapointing how minor his role was
>have to clear EVERY word spoken by Ace through CN lawyers
>would also have to pay out for the VA
He was gonna talk in Tranz, but they had to drop it since it would cost too much.
I thought Ace joining for the time being was cool. Filled the spot for Murdoc for a bit https://youtu.be/imEI5yqfSYw
man that just sounds wrong
Don't know any of the Gorillaz lore, I just like three or four songs.
Am I supposed to believe this motherfricker is 56 years old?
Murdoc has actually gotten noticeably younger each iteration and it's speculated to be another weird quirk of if Satanism and paranormal nature, like he's aging back words.
>Murdoc has actually gotten noticeably younger each iteration
Not by any stretch of the imagination

What the ever frick happened to FIFA games soundtracks? They were fricking goat from 2002 to 2011. EA got tired of researching tracks?
>What the ever frick happened to FIFA games soundtracks?
I don't know, I haven't played any of them since 2002 or so. It's the same game as 2022.
>What the ever frick happened to FIFA games soundtracks? They were fricking goat from 2002 to 2011.
21 had a great soundtrack, although nothing like the late 00's
22 was pretty bad, very unfortunate
they really turned up the Black rhythms and tribal music since those are the target demographics now, but they still pick good songs every once and a while
HEEEELLLLLOOOOOOOOOO!?!
IS THERE ANYONE THERE!?!
>latest track is called "Cracker Island"
>its all about how tradition is a lie
>obvious wignat sun symbology
What were you expecting with the racist song title?
White people are so fragile.
yeah yeah, whatever, sweatie. Not gonna fall for this. Love gorillaz, hate nogs, hate troons, hate nazis and bigots.
Okay, Joshua.
The drummer from that one Death Note opening is also Nyango Star
And it's a girl
>The drummer from that one Death Note opening is also Nyango Star
i had no idea, and i'm a big MtH fan
I love Maximum the Hormone.
WTF?!
HOPE (HOPE)
HOPE THE RADIANT LIGHT IS SHINING ON YOU
Listening to this right now.
Man, Song Machine has some really good tracks.
I only like the band Knocked Loose.
>Be metalgay complete with the greasy long hair and denim jacket
>People act surprised when I say I like Gorillaz
It's been happening for 20 years dammit
since this seems to be a good place to ask: what the frick happened to Ganker? I used to love that board, but now it's basically unusable. It feels like nobody there listens to music that isn't kpop or rap anymore. I learned about so many great artists on there, but it feels like the culture that fostered that environment is just gone. I didn't realize how much I missed casually discussing music I liked with people who knew what I was talking about until this thread. Where did all those anons go?
Sadly that's how every board is now, times have changed and to be honest the only real reason I lurk anymore is just for threads like this.
That's a really good idea. Should have been done a long time ago. There's already a /vt/ for V-tubers.
never knew mu changed that much. But with the kpop wave I can understand that.
Even when i was a kid I didn't understand the appeal of kpop and thought it was moronic just like the American boy band counterparts
It’s just something that exists so that teen girls can oogle at pretty boys
generals happened. i have much to wax pretentious about this about how it reflects culture at large, but general threads insulated and atomized the individual subcultures that were otherwise interacting. genre discussion became specialized and you end up being able to meaningfully discuss things with knowledgeable people only in respective general threads, instead of that discussion coming about organically.
kpop is self-contained and would be a misdiagnosis to lay anything on them other than being really fricking active for whatever reason. the board culture of Ganker is lost because the good posters moved to the general threads
Why do generals have to kill every fricking board
i think it comes about as a reaction to shitposting reaching a terminal level that makes it feel like discussion is otherwise inconceivable. there are only so many times someone can make a sincerely-felt post about their interest and be shit on, before those people start wanting to seek out each other more explicitly
i look at /film/ on Ganker and do not envision that board facilitating the means to allow talking about artsy films otherwise, in between all the political shitposting and garbage posts. i think this is simply the consequence of people wanting to somewhat take discussion on Ganker seriously but Ganker being really lax on moderation, on account of the nature of its anonymous and ephemeral content. yet that anonymity and ephemerality is exactly what can produce legitimately compelling interactions, as opposed to how people operate on traditional forums where there is an ego or upvote count attached to every post, which itself produces a level of self-moderation that inhibits the type of organic Human-ness you can find on Ganker. i don't know of a good goldilocks type solution here
The goldilocks solution is for mods to do their jobs and ban shitposters, flamewars, politics from the boards where those things are banned. We literally have the rules in place to make this site good and the mods refuse to do shit besides ERP in their irc all day.
yeah this would be good. I just have so little faith in mods and jannies that I barely conceive it as a possibility
>i don't know of a good goldilocks type solution here
Ban phoneposting. Congratulations, I saved Ganker.
Generals killed Ganker too. RIP
Frick man, is there anything generals don't ruin?
Summed up very neatly, very good post
I posted my favorite artist and got called a contrarian because he makes indie music. Zoomers took over /x, /fa, /mu and are taking over /a by spamming shonen shit every day.
Ganker was over in my mind when they started having unironic naruto threads
Frick off it's an ANIME board. For ANIME.
Neither of us insulted anime? We're insulting shonen garbage.
That's pretty much what I mean, dbz thread, one piece and naruto hit post limits now and it's disgusting.
this band has always wanted to be deftones and it's sad.
The left two designs of Noodle are so fricking sexy I want to cum to them.
