this isn't exactly true for GBA a lot of GBA games, there's a some games that were tailor made for the the GBA screen and you're not gonna be able to get the proper image unless you play it on a GBA
with that said there's a nice lcd shader out there that works really well
Get the DSLite and a GBA flashcart as well as a DS flashcart. I've had that setup for almost a decade with my CycloDS cart and it still runs flawlessly.
Technical if you wear a hoodie it is, but thanks to the thumbsticks you need to fit the whole case. Realistically though if you need to carry vidya with you should just take a backpack or bag of some kind

Some Anon did, but it doesn't look comfortable tbh

is it even physically possible to put a Steam Deck in your pocket
You can put it in a backpack, if you are one to carry around a backpack.

Wait. You guys carry around your games to play them in public…?
I was a watercraft inspector this summer so I played it at work while waiting for fishermen to show up. And I brought it to the lgs one time so i had something to do while waiting for a game
>Original GBA with a backlight mod + flashcart
Might as well get an Analogue Pocket, will cost you roughly the same at this point. Better resolution than modded GBA while being able to play snes/genesis/neo geo and below.
question for deckers
have any of you played kid icarus uprising on it and been able to get a good control scheme going?
what i imagine is you just run it in single screen mode (with a hotkey for when you need menus) in citra and just use an actual stylus and pretty much use the same control scheme as the 3DS except you're constantly covering the screen and also having to hold the heavy-ass Steam Deck in only one hand. you could also run screens side by side to alleviate the first problem but that would look worse.
Never played it but with Steam Deck but I would probably use the right or left track pad for the stylus as they're better than using a mouse on a PC (you can click-and-hold it like a mouse too to emulate the stylus), I've forgotten the Steam Deck has a touch screen because I've never needed to use it but you could just do that too.
On the Steam Deck there are also 4 buttons on the top of the controller and 4 buttons on the back of the controller so I would use one of the back buttons to swap control schemes.
Let's assume you are trying to spend as little money as possible. An entry-level Steam Deck costs $400. For that money, you could buy >Body Power 3 in 1 Exercise Bike - $260 >Fitness Gear 40 lb Adjustable Dumbbell Set - $100 >CALIA Resistance Bands 3 Pack - $30
And you'd still have $10 left over for some protein shakes.
Are those adjustable dumbbells actually any good? They're way cheaper than a weight set up to 80 lbs, so I feel like they're made of Chinesium at that price point
Buy one of those handheld emu devices? Blacklight mod is nice though. But you could be playing nes, snes, sega stuffs and whatever else that runs on those handheld emu devices
I don't really recommend a modded GBA, just get a regular SP if you want with a flashcart or a chink handheld instead
Idk why you're comparing it to a Steam Deck though, they have nothing in common so idk what you're after
if size of Steam Deck is a problem then one of the many chinkie gameboys are nice both when it comes to features and also when it comes to support of game systems.
get a 3DS and jailbreak it. you can import gba roms onto the virtual console and play them with near perfect accuracy since the 3ds is still based on the gba hardware.
>have deck docked and connected to external monitor >if I want to play on the tv in the other room I've got to disconnect everything and reconnect the dock to the tv with the deck
Then you should be all right. Speedhacking will eventually come as core gets updated. If you are in the US the pocket is decently priced. If you are in EU be ready to fork $300+ because of shipping+duty
Buy a DS Lite.
Yo can you play fricking Rondo on this thing?????
I'd rather get an original DS so the GBA carts don't stick out
Get the GBA or a DSLite with the flashcart, you will end up playing it more, and the battery lasts longer.
Also, it will be cheaper
There are flashcarts that have the size of the DSLite GBA slot cover, mine is like that, and looks great
DS lite screen is 10x better than original DS and GBA. I play all my GBA cartridges on DS lite as it's backwards compatible with it.

Original GBA is more soulful.
f zero climax has gotten so fricking pricy holy shit I'm never buying this at this rate.
hack your 3ds (who genuinely gives a frick about muh screen) and buy a steam deck. all you will ever need if you're not a vita VN addict
With the GBA will you
>actually bring it around with you
>have the ability to do anything multiplayer
is it even physically possible to put a Steam Deck in your pocket

Someone post the adults with backpacks picture

When will backpacklets learn?

You could probably fit a few of them in a pair of JNCOs
yes if you dress like a Black person from the 90s
Yes, but only if you wear mens pants.
Wait. You guys carry around your games to play them in public…?

Yes. The only thing people MIGHT be embarrassed seeing you with is a DS/3DS. Keyword is might.

Haven't tried it personally, but seems to work fine

Go build a Frog Boy Color.
miyoo mini +
The backlight mod wrecks the battery life. It is so not worth it.

i'd be buying the oled for the double battery life
Do you know where the frick you are? Most of Ganker can barely use the fricking bathroom let alone gym equipment.
Are those adjustable dumbbells actually any good? They're way cheaper than a weight set up to 80 lbs, so I feel like they're made of Chinesium at that price point
I probably should look for a way to fix my GBASP.

Deck OLED running GBA games looks fricking amazing, the aspect ratio is perfect for the GBA
GBA games looks amazing on OLED
get a 3DS and jailbreak it. you can import gba roms onto the virtual console and play them with near perfect accuracy since the 3ds is still based on the gba hardware.
These are like 40$ and they come with GarlicOS installed from factory.
miyoo mini plus is better
Too smol 4 me IMO, i got big grug hands.
>have deck docked and connected to external monitor
>if I want to play on the tv in the other room I've got to disconnect everything and reconnect the dock to the tv with the deck
Isn't there an easier way?
Get a second dock obviously
>should I buy a thing that will lets me play 100000000+ games
>or an old game that has nothing but children games?
Original GBA
Emulation a shit
do not get ds lite it is shit and the worst ds model
how does gba have the best looking screen here
Brightness is set to max. Its an old trick electronics stores use to get people to buy the TVs with the highest profit margins.
Get a N3ds, not an xl version, those are awful for nds and gba games, and hack it.
Wouldn't a DS Lite be a better investment?
How much is a game boy advance? It can't possibly be in the same ballpark as a Steamdeck, surely.
I was thinking of getting the Analogue Pocket so that I can have the physical versions of games instead.
depends, but in the range of 200 USD
I got an analogue pocket, it's great but still lacks many core features like save states for GBC/GB. GBA has save states and speed hack.
I'm okay with that, I don't really use save states, but the speed hack thing kind of sad.
Then you should be all right. Speedhacking will eventually come as core gets updated. If you are in the US the pocket is decently priced. If you are in EU be ready to fork $300+ because of shipping+duty
Yeah, I think I lucked out in that case. The main problem is they're also out of stock for some of their other stuff.
GBA would have been the goat if they released it with:
- backlight
- snes soundchip
- more buttons
>Buy Steamdeck
>Install RetroArch
There, it's that easy
Get a PSP Slim with data code before 7C , install a CFW and download gpSP.
>try to search for a regular, unmodded GBA online
>GBA BACKLIGHT MOD $200
>GBA MODDED $200
>GBA IPS $200
>GBA SCREEN REPLACED $200
>GBA MACRO $200
I've used my Gameboy more then the Steam Deck
