>calamity
What is calamity and why do I keep hearing about it?
you know how bosses are the worst part about terraria? Well the mod adds ones that are even worse + making the entire mod be about boss shit
>bosses are the worst part about terraria
Errrrm.... no? Equipment checks so you actually need to go out and explore and find cool stuff, that's great. And one of the bosses is a gateway to the second half of the game, again, that's awesome.
yeah not in calamity enjoy grinding a bosss for unironically 8 hours till you finally beat it. Have fun that was the first post moonlord boss just 5 more left.
>you know how bosses are the worst part about terraria?
I'm not sure how to even react to this. This is like complaining about there being turkey at a thanksgiving dinner.
Boy I sure love aiming my ranged weapon at a large off-screen enemy for a few minutes until I get the loot, and if they end up in my screen they'll fill it with their collision box and a lot of projectiles
bosses are the only gameplay tho
mega cringe post
massive skill issue too
>mods on a first playthrough
Obviously not??
>mods for a first playthrough
Im sorry you were born after the year 2000
And I'm sorry you're over 30 and have never seen a vegana in real life
Nah, go for vainilla first, calamity is nice after your 10th playthrough when you played the shit out of everything the game has to offer, but it adds a lot of content to the point it feels kinda bloated and you may end up overwhelmed tbh
IDK maybe
no
>sheeeeesh 2d pixel art? now THAT'S retro, frfr no cap.
terraria is from 2011..?
Calamity is legitimately for edgy try hards who have already mastered the game.
>terraria devs want you to fight boss in specific area
>boss becomes enraged, and harder to kill outside area, but still possible to beat
>calamity devs want you to fight boss in specific area
>boss boxes you in said area with instakill barriers
>vanilla boss projectiles come from the bosses themselves
>calamity bosses summon projectiles from offscreen
>a version of the boss the mod is named after reuses retinazer ai
>calamity devs make post moonlord content opening up the opportunity to make the zenith useful
>they add another required crafting material for it droped by a post moonlord boss
>zenith is now outclassed by modded weapons by the time you get it
I haven't even played the mod, but the more I see of it, the less I like it. It just feels like they want to make the game stupid for the sake of saying it's harder now. Just play thorium.
>played calamity
>had fun
>played infernum
>had fun
terraria is just fun but no way should you be doing a modded playthrough for your first run
Calamity is dogshit. Just add Thorium to your first playthrough, it's basically Vanilla + and adds a bunch of balanced items and bosses + some post-moon lord progression. Play on Expert.
absolutely not. it's completely unbalanced. i love the mod but it's not good for a first timer. play vanilla
The game is already overloaded as it is, you don't need to add even more to it.
if a game is bloated, go the whole way
no, if youre anything like me it'll go something like this
>have like 400+ hours in terraria
>me and a friend decide to try thorium
>eventually add like 10 different other QoL mods cause why not
>game gets pretty boring fast because of shit like insta builders, optional 10x enemy spawn rate for farming items, shit balancing, fricking bomb shurikans
its kind of out of the question as a first playthrough but even if it wasnt id still recommend just replaying vanilla.
Vanilla first, interesting mods next, then Terraria Overhaul when you get tired of the base mechanics
Vanilla
Journey mode (for the 10x enemy spawn slider when farming, item research mechanic, etc features. just keep difficulty at expert)
Simple as
The only mod you should use for a first play through is magic storage and even then you don't need it.
>should i use a huge mod for my first playthrough?
really homie?
terraria is dead
