Path of Exile is hack'n'slash, but offers more non-linear experience than majority of jrpgs which are extremely railroaded. In act 2, you can choose siding with one of three bandits or killing them all.
>offers more non-linear experience than majority of anime stories you need to press more buttons than just play to see through to the end
PoE is good for one playthrough, beyond that you're flirting with mental illness and carpal tunnel syndrome
Get into it now since PoE 2 is really far away and the game is fun anyway.
The skill tree turns many players away but the more you do different builds and content the more you understand it.
PoE is really good at the moment, try it. It has steep learning curve, so play now without a pressure to learn and prepare for PoE2 release. Pick a meta build at first before trying to build your own, it will save you frustration and you will be able to learn game mechanics with a strong char. I recommend >Righteous Fire
Skill that creates fire aura, damaging both you and enemies. It's tanky and built to outregen damage. Good guide on it: https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/righteous-fire-inquisitor-build-guide >Summon Raging Spirit
Remember floating burning skulls from Doom? Now you can summon them. Good build, spirits deal high damage by themselves, so you can focus on making your char tanky. Follow this guide, pick non-poison, easier version
https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/ghazzy-summon-raging-spirits-necromancer-build-guide >Boneshatter
Very strong 2h axe build, pick this if you just want to play melee. It's also very tanky and damage is fine until very late endgame

>it is the best live service game on the market and it's not even close
I agree.
Why can't corporate Black folk understand that all you need to do for live service to work is to just: >make a fun game >introduce new content >monetize content that is not tied to progression
And you can keep an audience for way longer than if your game panders to whales, since your profits are relying on a much broader and stable group and not on volatile whale Black folk which are mentally ill.
>And you can keep an audience for way longer than if your game panders to whales
It still panders to whales though just in a different way
Vast majority of players never pay a cent
A large amount might spend 10-20 bucks every season
A few whales own literally every skin since the game released and have spent thousands upon thousands on the game
But the thing that keeps the game alive is its core of no-spenders
They are the ones the whales can flash their e-peen at to feel better about themselves
This is why p2w eventually dies and why the poe2 model lives on
In p2w after a while no-spenders get tired of never progressing and only the whales remain and they have nobody to lord over so eventually they leave as well
But poe always has fresh noobs coming in to enjoy the game and whales get to show off their skins
>"not an RPG" should be some kind of bannable offence >/vst/ doesn't post "not an RTS" every thread
It’s pretty cringe. There’s occasionally reasonable uses of it when a game is questionable, such as a game that’s predominantly from another genre but has some RPG elements or mechanics, but 95% of the time it’s unfunny snark that just means “a game that’s widely recognized as a rpg but that I dislike and think is bad”
/vst/ has wild genres in it
4k, rts, city bulding, any homies in a chessboard, tower defense, etc
Only bad part is some people here shit their pants if the game is action, but otherwise gameplay genres are very alike

No.
not an RPG, not even a single-player game
>RPG
It is.
>not even a single-player game
This is not /svrpg/ - single-player role-playing games

The damage they are doing to people's wrists from their moronic desire for "friction" is far from ethical. Shit is bloated and awful now anyway.

Ok jarpiggy
Play Grim Dawn instead
Major update for Grim Dawn releases today, actually.
Its shit, SHIT.
Not a RPG, troon.
>>>/vg/
>>>/y/
It's the quintessential Black personcattle bait. Not RPG, not even a game.
I hope you fry your dopamine receptors completely so you turn yourself into an eternally porn-addicted troony.

Play Path of Building instead.
Diabe-girlkes are obviously not RPGs
Unless you think build = roleplaying
Grim dawn
It takes like a thousand or so hours to get good at the game, but it's still fun as a casual who doesn't know what they're doing.
