It's OK. They actively shrunk all of the NEXT's or mechs you pilot compared to older games. Armored Core 4 and Armored Core For Answer are also very good. For Answer was probably my favorite hands down.
Only Armored Core I played was 2. I loved it because it has both a fun story campaign to follow that had you getting emails and shit after missions that fleshed out the world, along with that very fun arena mode that you went through which had you climb the rankings by fighting every contestant in the arena. Which PS3-era Armored Core has the most comparable experience to that, anon? And would you say For Answer is your favorite Armored Core of that gen?
I'm looking to get back into the franchise.
The emails go until Last Raven. Verdict Day does have Voices of War, which is basically the post-apocalyptic news, and gives you info about the different factions and Ravens after you fight them.
>The emails go until Last Raven
Fricking weak. That shit was so cozy. Really made me feel like I was some dirty mercenary just sitting around some shithole hotel waiting for new work to come in.
What does 4 and For Answer do to flesh out their world?
First, bear in mind 4 and For Answer were Miyazaki's first games as a director, so what you see there is the prototype of the Souls series' way of storytelling, not helped that the translation kinda sucks.
The way the world is presented is with a handful of cutscenes, mission briefings, and having to connect dots with that and what the enemy Ravens (here called Lynxs except the MC of 4) sat and act, both in normal and hard mode.
The setting is that the megacorporations made a global coup, and their awful goverment are slowly poisoning the Earth. That said, 4 suffers that outside of the cutscenes, certain story parts don't make sense. A little spoiler, to get the full tragedy of the final boss, you must get your ass kicked a bit in the first AC vs AC battle. For Answer improves vastly, by giving the factions personality and respective announcers like the old games, and your operator being a nonsense veteran Lynx.
The MC of 4 is a guy who fights to feed his home colony of Anatolia, while the MC of For Answer is Strayed, a newbie in a desolate world. You can see which one is the closest to the average AC protagonist.
4 was trash and I hate you homosexuals with a burning passion.
OP I recently Emulated and replayed every single Armored Core game. If you never played any Start with one just because going backwards is a nightmare due to the extreme lack of part variety and even with that some being totally outclassed, limiting choice even more.
VD is one of the best Armored Cores. It has a insane number of AC vs AC missions, tons of parts, and the scan system energy recovery thing is really really cool. Some people hate the rock paper scissors defense vs offense system but I think it added a neat layer to mech building.
V is like 4 however in that a lot of the ideas weren't fully thought out and there was less parts and less story. Not to say 4's story was bad but it was translated very very poorly so big sections of it are strait up gone.
4A is also one of the best AC games there is, because like VD it fine tunes the gameplay, has a good story, and more parts.
VD is fricking amazing and so is the series on the whole. My personal favorites are probably:
Nexus and Last Raven. Probably Last Raven slightly edging out Nexus on some things but man I don't know. Playing Nexus again hit me very strangely.
Then 4a and VD. Both give a very different feeling but both REALLY knock it out of the park.
Then probably Master of the Arena, Silent Line, 2, 1, 3, 4, 2AA, V and last place going to Project Phantasma and Nine Breaker.
Really the only one's I'd say to skip are 2AA, V, PP, and Nine Breaker. The rest are AT LEAST worth playing
Is the weird texture bug in your mech still present in the ps3/xbox emulators? Because i've been wanting to play VD and 4A for a long time
Yes. I played it on hardware so it wasn't too jarring to me, since I knew what information was missing. That said I didn't look into it too hard so maybe someone with a better grasp on those emulators has a fix I didn't bother looking for.
Is there really that much of a different between 4 and 4A
homosexual
If I got filtered by AC4 is there any other game in the series I should try or is there no hope for me? I feel so stuck since I can't afford any new equipment and no matter what I do on my missions now I just can't beat them
You can sell parts for ones you want.
Sorry to say brother but no hope. 4 Is one of the easiest in the series. It definitely starts you with a powerful NEXT vs the starter AC in all the other games.
>mfw the stiffy I got when I played AC4 and got this sexy beast as a starting mech
Pic related is my favorite. I just have a love of medium jack of all trades NEXTs. A tool for every situation.
lmao this is so stupid
You can try Nexus, it's also on the easier side.
It's still good but it really is an online focused game. I played it back in 2016 and it was dieing. The solo missions are good, but you might have trouble finding people for the online world bosses, which are really cool, but optional as its online.
>Armored Core 4 for PS3 used on eBay is $35+
>Armored Core For Answer for PS3 used on eBay is $65+
>V and V Verdict day are like $30+ each
Motherfricker. I just want to play the games again. Hell if they re-released all of the titles on the Sony store, I'd buy them. Does FromSoft just not like fricking money?
VD is $90+
>still have my OG launch day VD copy
>have a near pristine JP Version I won in a tourney
Whew, im fricking safe.
I'm fricking jealous.
I think it's because so few of the games sold, so there's not so many in circulation.
The JP VA really makes the game shine imo. The Professional sounding tone of your CPU system really adds a ton of atmosphere during those hectic moments compared to the Eng VA.
Is there any way to play the NA version of the game but with Japanese audio/English subs?
No, VA is locked to the version you've got. Whats worse is the JP version has VA DLC so you can get Hanged Man and Blue Magnolia if you want. The NA version doesnt have any of the good shit unfortunately.
Fricking gay. These people HAVE to know that there's money to be made by making an all encompassing version of games right? All the content from JP and NA all on one disc made to run on modern consoles with DLC? I'd gladly pay $60 a pop if I could play AC4/FA/V/Verdict Day on my PS4 or PS5.
the japanese have some anal retentive restrictions when it comes to JP VA rights and distributions. Pretty sure the yakuza games, or one of them, got torpedoed from being ported to PC cause of one of the VAs Agencies got their panties in a bunch.
>Japanese are stupidly introvereted to the point of taking money out of their own pockets
God damn slant eyes
It was Judgement, and I heard the devs won't make a third game unless that agency stop having their anti-PC autism.
It's only this expensive because From fanboys (souls only players) like to buy up all of Froms games.
>vd on pc
>stable framerate
>has the population to support it
>KBM interface for support
VD would've been amazing on PC
