No.
Yes.
You can't get them for that cheap.
Yes you can during AliExpress sales.
Depends on what you're going to play. If you want to play Pokemon and other 2D RPG and some slow paced games like Advance Wars I'd say go for it.
I've had one for months but the vertical form factor is not comfortable for any game that requires triggers and you're missing the analogs, so even if it technically can run PS games I don't find them enjoyable at all on this device.
My advice is wait for a sale and get yourself an RP2S.
Maybe? I'm not your mother
Only if you know for sure you will play video games on it.
yes i got mine for 70$ and i played THE SHIT out of it for like 3 months straight man. i feltl ike a kid again playing game boy games. I even played games i never had the chance to play. I carried it around with me and gamed at my friends house while she was gone at work. I really enjoyed it. this world doesnt have many happy things but this was one of those things that i was glad existed at the time i played. I got around 500h out of it in 3 months.
>3 months
what happened after that?
ran out of games i wanted to play. AC6 and BG3 came out. Pokemon emerald and red are kinda easy as frick. I also am in middle of playing the manga fan mod of Red's story ill play it again just need a break
Literally how the fricking GBA alone has more than 3 months of games. FFTA takes a good 50-60 hours to beat a good 100+ to complete. Most jarpigs are like 25-40 hours. Fricking harvest moon friends of mineral town alone you can blow 500 hours on.
As for pokemanz like frick dude there is literally over 9000 romhacks and good ones for the GBA games. Shit the GBA over all has so many good romhacks for tons of series.
dude u dont understand im a neet i played from morning to dark only stopping to eat i played a shit load of games on it lol why i stopped after 3 months it was too much GBA games.

bro, that's not a good scenario
All art are disposable wish fulfillment so good job on the compliment.

I'm not against AI but I think we shouldn't flood the internet with our creations, everyone should prompt their own.
Dogshit artists flood the internet with their chickenscratch

One of my favourite feels
>gamed at my friends house while she was gone at work
what the frick
I spent $43 on a R36S and it's garbage. You get what you pay for
No.
I say this as someone who went full tilt and spent more than $100 on a retro console.
Go to a pawnshop or goodwill and buy one there if you really want one. There is always someone looking to offload their bad buys in those places.
Get a DS lite and flash cart for a superior experience.
No 3d stick, no buy
You shouldn't but it's only $40 so who cares.
Afraid so.

anon i havent laughed this hard in years. ty
You are disgusting but I respect your attitude fren, which one of thess handhelds would you recommend most? Where do you buy em?
i only have the one OP posted
Nail game weak bro
I wouldn't, if I were a girl... just sayin'
You need to take in more keratin.
I miss black posting
throughout the 90s, this was pretty much all I wanted nintendo to make
a color gb with 4 face buttons that ran snes games
Yeah it's cheap enough that you'll get a lot of quality gaming time out of it since the library of games up to the PS1 has been insanely good.
don't you people have a ten-year-old smartphone capable of running gameboy/ds emulation? ishygddt
Their market segment would vanish overnight if Apple allowed sideloading in the USA.
spend that money on a razor kishi or similar phone controller adapter and get a order of magnitude better experience? why do people waste money just to get a shittier experience?
good morning sars you want to buy?
We own iPhones
thwre are variants for them too. like i sad Razer kishi. i have a 6.8' phone and its great for portable gaming wither locally or by streaming games from my pc though I usually use xbox controller with phone mount
>I usually use xbox controller with phone mount
what i use when i travel to people with wifi but wanna PC game. But when i know i wont have wifi i use what OP has
fair enough but why not use phone to play whatever you play on OP device?
Because I own a dumbphone and have no intention to ever get a smartphone
But you're willing to buy a smartphone at the same price but with a fraction of the features? Because that's what these are. Why are you like this?
Because I have no need for the extra features that come with smartphones nor do I wish to deal with the extra telemetry that comes with one.
Why are you so offended over why someone doesn't have a smartphone?
>Because I have no need for the extra features that come with smartphones
Such as a higher resolution, a sharper screen, more power, more emulators, more software support and fixes, more hardware compatibility? You do want those features, otherwise you wouldn't be shopping for one of these devices. And that's all exclusively in the context of emulating.
>nor do I wish to deal with the extra telemetry that comes with one.
There's no extra telemetry. It's the exact amount of telemetry as one of these devices. You have full control of what goes in and out of a phone, arguably moreso than most of what's posted in here.
>Why are you so offended over why someone doesn't have a smartphone?
I'm offended that you're wasting your money on a device that does a fraction of what you want for the same price as a superior device with no downsides.
>There's no extra telemetry. It's the exact amount of telemetry as one of these devices.
The RG35XX can’t even connect to the internet so that’s just a straight up lie lmao
Literally no one gives a shit. Everyone knows you can use your phone to emulate game, it’s been like that for almost 15 years. Having a dedicated device is better for my autism and is more cozy than using a phone. Go yell at people for using record players or something.
I don't want to drain my battery
you should spend $40 on an ad
i want one of these stupid things but i think this is an ad
its an ad from the stand point we want everyone to enjoy the shit we enjoy not from any monetary stand point
I got one for 60 and have zero regrets. Excellent if you have a considerable retro backlog, and is kinda based to be seen with on the bus compared to a switch or Deck since it's le retro
Anon it's like $50, it's pocket money, just buy one and if you don't like it or use it sell it on Marketplace for the exact same price, 0 dollars lost.
i'm more of a miyoo mini (plus) guy, but if you really can find rg35xx for $40 then it's hard to beat that price for a good chinkheld
Should I get one of these if I already have a deck?
What about the H version? I'm interest in picking this up
Pretty much the best horizontal handheld you can get for that price range. Still it can barely go past PS1 and the dpad is allegedly kinda shit. If you want to play anything more demanding like N64, either go for a RP2+ or a RGB30.
Buy a controller for your phone.
Whether it's a backbone or a clip for a dualshock/xbox controller or even just a micro usb adapter and some tape.
Get retroarch on there and you're golden.
>where do you buy this?
>can you load your own roms?
>does it have turbo?
AliExpress, yes and yes. Look up Anbernic RG35XX reviews on YouTube. There's lots of devices like this, but I like the aesthetics of this one the most
Rip ergonomics
I think I'll get an RP3+ or a 4 Pro later on the year, dunno, they seem comfier than my current Ambernic
MM+
same. but no screen protector.
I don't know which one to get.
I got the RG35XX+ it's the most powerful device in that form factor. However, it doesn't have a custom OS yet (Garlic/Onion OS), unlike the Miyoo Mini Plus.
If you want thumbsticks, look up the RG35XX H. It has the same hardware as the RG35XX+ but it has thumbsticks.
The Miyoo Mini + has a way, WAY better OS. The RG35XX+ has a shit OS but is literally better in every other way. I would recommend getting the Miyoo Mini + right now, and just watch and see how the RG35XX+ software options develop. The operating system is a huge part of the experience with these handhelds, IMO.
yes
spend more money
consume
I'm quite happy with my RG35XX+. It plays all games up to PS1 flawlessly. I've been waiting for a handheld of this form factor that was overpowered for games up to the PS1.
It plays Dreamcast games too quite well, of course there are split second freezes when a scene loads up, but it's not a big deal because I won't be using this device primarily for Dreamcast.
Something that reviewers don't tell you is that GBA scaling is not pixel perfect, so there are stretched pixels. However, with the right shader, it becomes completely unnoticeable (for me anyways). The screen size is 640 x 480.
That's a miyoo mini plus, Black person.
why are you so confident in your response?
Whoever decided this set up was fine is a dumb ass b***h as far as the back buttons go..
MM+ has a square speaker
I'm playing GBA with huge borders cause I can't stand stretched/blurry pixels and 3x cuts off the edges. What shaders do you recommend?
Pokemon Emerald, SOVL
>Cringeboy form factor with shit d-pad
Don't mind me just being the superior handheld.
Would have been a killer handheld if it actually had the power to run Saturn well.
They should just release another version of this model with a more powerful chip in it, but they are being stupid fricking c**ts that won't do it.
No, miyoo mini plus better.
>sub-optimal screen
>loud af fan
>only plays 80% of PS2 games flawlessly
Frick. So close. I was really hoping this would be the perfect GC/PS2 handheld for me.
It runs GoW2, SotC, and the Ratchet games at full speed. Are you really going to be nitpicky because it can't run some random PS2 shovelware that is mainly slow because of emulator issues?
Even though I have a Steam Deck I prefer playing 8 and 16-bit games on the Miyoo
Advertise to me please. I want something gameboy sized but can run atleast up to n64
The biggest problem with N64 isn't the emulation but the fact that you'll need at least two analog sticks to emulate all the buttons.
For the Miyoo mini+, is the N64 joystick mapped to the Dpad?
Yeah but a dpad sucks ass for 3D games.
Yeah, that seems to be the biggest issue I'm coming across looking these things up. And it needs to be a joystick too, I wouldn't be able to play F zero x with precision using a d pad
Screw that what's the best chink handheld I can either emulate Jak II on the PS2 with or native with OpenGOAL? And some Pokemon romhacks
Nah it’s frickin cheap plastic quality on everything from the buttons to the triggers makes even simple games feel annoying buy a used game boy or ds and just mod it. Better experience same price.
No get a 35XX H instead for better form factor and actual analog sticks to take advantage of the chipset's ability to play games that use analog sticks.
I'm wondering if I should get 35XX Plus, or H.
Leaning towards H because it seems smaller but I don't think I need the analog sticks.
Man these vertical handhelds are so uncomfortable to hold.
I have this one and it's great but I'm struggling trying to make Gameboy games look like the real thing (green screen, shadow behind pixels)
I know you can achieve it but I don't know how here.
Does this not have retroarch
It does, tried messing a lot with the options but still couldn't get something convincing like picrel.
Picrel is the DMG Shader and looks great on PC but I think it's due to the handheld's screen size but there the same shader looks like crap and unplayable.
>Man these vertical handhelds are so uncomfortable to hold
Vertical handhelds are only selling because of nostalgia. Horizontal handhelds are objectively more ergonomic
no, just download an emulator for your phone which has 5x the power of this chink garbage
does one of those that could play up to 3ds games exists?
I think the Retroid Pocker 4 Pro? But none have dual screens, so might as well just get yourself a 2DS
>I think the Retroid Pocker 4 Pro? But none have dual screens, so might as well just get yourself a 2DS
ty
yeah that's what i was fearing, ds games got super expensive...
Can the Miyoo Mini + run N64, PS1 and Dreamcast games?
The websites for these chink handhelds suck dick at actually telling you about the specs and features beyond the most basic shit. How are the screens on these? If I were to play GBA games on them like OP's image suggests, I would expect the emulator and screen to be able to replicate the looks of the original hardware's quirks like the unique colour space and ghosting, are there shaders for that and if yes how do they look? Or is it just the most bog-standard modern LCD with a barebones emulator outputting the raw video signal, i.e. a worthless product?
It’s an mass produced IPS screen. Feature wise, all of these devices are either a Linux system with retroarch installed or an android system any other ways to replicate the the OG experience is done on the software side.
>retroarch
Gross man
>Just yesterday there was a thread calling this thing shit and how he fell for the marketing
>instantly deleted
>this pops up
>thread filled with shill bots and is up for hours
Think before you consume
Better off grabbing an R36S for around $40.
Are the R36S good? They have dual sticks but it seems ergonomically bad to play for long times.
Its an amazing budget clone of the POWKIDDY RGB20S. The key differences really come down to the stiffness of the buttons.
>bought this thing for my 6 yo cousin
>it broke after a month
What should I do, anons? He accidentally go to Retroarch section and probably pressed casually to something.
probably shouldn't buy cheap chinkhelds that break after a month of use.
Get him a PSP, or a Gameboy.
Refer to my post
Did you add the custom firmware and replace the SD card?
It comes with garbage firmware and needs an actual nonshit SD card that breaks in a couple months.
After that's it's very nice.
That depends, do you want it?
Do you need it, or you already have something similar?
I already have a smartphone, for example, and I can play most of the things I want to play there, I also got a NS.
I guess most people interested in these devices want a dedicated portable console for playing retro-vidya, ever thought of just getting those instead?
the PSP is the easiest handheld to mod and play nes/GBA games on, the 3ds shouldn't be that different, I think.
What about the Gameboy?, there's plenty of flashcards available for those too.
R36S is better
this. but i wish it had wifi.. it really holds it back.
These are only worth it if you don't already have a modded PSP or Vita. Even then playing PS1 games on these just feels worse than playing it on a PSP
So why wouldn't I just get a vita then?
>Perfect hardware emulations in you're path
But only if you don't mind throwing 200 bucks at a very fancy Gameboy
Someone post the webm
They should've gotten the chinese to design the form facter
literally only thing it has going for it is the screen
And the fact it works with real carts, no emulation hiccups and great screen shaders
I just hate the formfactor, it could've been perfect
>carts barely go in at all, and mostly just hang out of the system
>terrible placement where hitting l or r basically have you touching the cartridge
>terrible screen resolution for gba or anything outside of gb/gbc really
>no software updates in forever
it's simply not worth it
>I just hate the formfactor
literally what I said
The resolution is great for all those systems, do you mean aspect ratio?
GBA is the odd one out for every retro system though
gba is great on miyoo mini plus and the rg35xx though
and yeah sorry aspect ratio
i just cant see a justification for a $200 gb/gbc only player
I mean, it does more than that but it's understandable
I just find most handheld emulators have framerate inconsistencies and audio garbage
yeah, I'm definitely waiting for a better formfactor if they ever do it
I can play my real carts on an emulator. FPGA is also emulation, it's just hardware based emulation instead of software based. With FPGA systems they allow you to load a "core" which is basically the emulator but as instructions for the FPGA chip. There's a bunch of FPGA systems now and more coming out.
>I can play my real carts on an emulator
you can't, but ok
>FPGA is also emulation
it's more like a clone console than emulation but I guess you can still use emulation as terminology
>you can't
You can. It is possible to read your carts.
It's possible to rip your carts data, but not read them and write to them like real hardware
>it's not possible to read them and write to them like real hardware
You can read and write to them. If by "like real hardware" you mean on the fly reading instructions and writing saves while playing the game, then yes it is still possible, just no software emulator does it as far as I'm aware. You're wrong however for stating it is impossible, as there is not fundamental reason why it would be impossible. Software emulators are just written to check on a file and what bytes of that file, you could rewrite that part so it interfaces with a card reader and keep everything else software emulated and it would work.
seems weird that nothing has ben done yet in the past near 30 years of emulation
Because barely anyone has had a cartridge reader for PC or any other software device. So all emulators were written with the convenience of having the whole cartridge dumped into a ROM file.
If you like the form factor
transparent black or atomic purple, i can't decide
no get the rg35xx+ instead.
the lack of wifi really hampers the base model.
If you want.
wait for the Horizontal Plus model to come out. better specs and analog sticks for like...$20-$25 more.
You'll probably regret it in six months
So chink ads don't even bother to hide it anymore nowadays...
I want a portable emulation device. What do I use?
I tried android phones with it before but it was bad on phones and I had so much latency with controller.
just get a chinkheld. for 50$ it's not bad.
>just get a chinkheld. for 50$ it's not bad.
any recommendations?
