Should it be taken down?

Despite proclaiming it does not condone piracy, no one buys games for use on Yuzu. It takes away thousands in revenue from Nintendo.

NTA but you should test both emulators. The one that works the best for you will always be the best ones Ryujinx just have a better accuracy. But I like the internal keyboard that Yuzu has for their games. No need to use the keyboard, you can just use the controller like a real switch.

No one plays smash for the multiplayer, the online sucks massive wiener on the switch. The most fun you have with those games is playing with friends on couch co-op or just beating the shit out of the AI. which are things you can do with Yuzu. Also, you can have online with emulators, who said you couldn't?

It's cheaper to buy a used Switch than a PC powerful enough to emulate Switch, what's the point? Not to mention that the shader compilation stutter is infuriating. People say emulating Switch is better because you can get BotW running at 60 FPS, but forget to mention that those 60 FPS is with 5 FPS 1% lows due to this. It's impossible to play it on the go unless you buy a Steam Deck or something similar, but the Switch emulation is so demanding that the cTDP has to be cranked high and the battery life sucks.

Okay, but a used Switch Lite can be bought for $100 if you really look for it.

        >It's cheaper to buy a used Switch than a PC powerful enough to emulate Switch, what's the point? N
Eh. I already had a PC. There'll never be a point where I don't have a PC as well.
        >Not to mention that the shader compilation stutter is infuriating
Sure it is but improvements have been made over the years so doesn't bother me as much now.

idk, just kinda small minded to leap in with the cheaper to buy a used switch thing. Not everyone was 5 years old in 2010. We had computers, we've had laptops and we didn't grow up with smartphones and cheap tablets in our hands. There's a sizeable group of people who have always been into owning a computer.

        >Eh. I already had a PC. There'll never be a point where I don't have a PC as well.
I have a PC too, but it's a business mini PC with a 4th gen i3 and integrated graphics. It does all of the things I expect of a PC and it actually runs really well since I upgraded it with an NVMe SSD (it has an M.2 slot, amazingly enough) and 16 GB of RAM, so I don't feel the need to upgrade, but it's certainly not powerful enough to emulate Switch well. But even assuming it could, I also want to be able to play on the go in handheld mode. So really the cheapest option is the Steam Deck, which is bulky as frick and the battery dries quickly. It's also much more expensive than a Switch Lite.
        >Not everyone was 5 years old in 2010. We had computers, we've had laptops and we didn't grow up with smartphones and cheap tablets in our hands. There's a sizeable group of people who have always been into owning a computer.
Well, I grew up with a PS2 and I like the idea of having a separate device just for playing games that simplifies the process makes me waste less time.

a fricking GTX 1080 is like $100 shut up moron

That's as much as a Switch Lite costs just for a single component.

          >Well, I grew up with a PS2 and I like the idea of having a separate device just for playing games that simplifies the process makes me waste less time.
Yeah, no time wasted for me to play games.
It's downloaded/disc is in the drive and I click on a menu and it's up and running.
Usually saves time compared to a dedicated device too, no needing to charge it if it's a handheld shit like the switch or 3ds. Don't have to go through the bios or sit through long menus & splash screens.
No need to change my TV over to the input or plug in any cables, PC's already there, can just use a shortcut to switch display if it's not already on.

          Actually pretty convenient all told.

Yeah I know we like to act like we're all pc master race and all that bullshit but the reality is that 90% of pc players are still on a 2600 cpu and equivalent with a gtx 1650, the steam hardware survey doesn't lie.

breath of the wild takes like 40 hours to complete at minimum. You will experience shader stutter for maybe 25 minutes of that, while enjoying higher resolution, framerate, shadow resolution, texture LOD and QOL mods for the rest of it.
Not to mention you can download a shader cache and then get no stutter.

    >no one buys games for use on Yuzu
    Wrong. I did.
I had a switch that I bought a month after launch that died a few years back. I was originally going to trash it and sell but then they announced some exclusives like SMT V that I had wanted to play.
Only problem was my switch was dead, would cost too much to repair for a couple of games that I infrequently play and emulation was doing okay.

So I buy a game then I "pirate it" and play it on Yuzu/Ryujin. Not a massive deal, some RPGs are releasing there still too. Works for me.
I held out for a refreshed console for a long time but at the end of the day they never did it and I had access to better input methods & control over my settings on PC.

It takes away 0 revenue from nintendo, the people emulating are not lost sales, they would never buy a switch and the games to begin with. They're just more voices to the chorus about how good nintendo games are. they may become buyers on their own after the fact, but they're not taking any money since there's nothing that would be given it didn't exist

The lengths people are going through in this thread are hilarious. I'll state some facts:

Yes, it's 99% used for piracy. Everyone knows this, the people who make yuzu know this, they just have to play dumb for legal reasons. Nintendo WOULD take this down, if they could. But they can't. Lastly, I don't see emulating games you can no longer buy or that you already bought as "piracy" but downloading new 60/70 dollar games for free is basically stealing. None of that matters though because it simply is the way it is.

Emulators have been a thing for decades anon. Even when SNES and Genesis were fresh they had emulators such as ZSNES and Gens. There was even a court case over emulation from Sony towards the Bleem! developers. Developers won but they ended up having to shutdown the project over paying legal fees to the defense (because only tiny hat people win in court cases in the end).

Regardless, emulation is fair game regardless of whether it's old or current hardware.

Emulation will NEVER be banned because it is vital for business. Nintendo itself must use a lot of emulators because internally they must use spreadsheets, databases, etc., written in Cobol for, I don't know, Japan's equivalent of the Commodore 64. If they used fricking Windows 98 to provide infrastructure for the players, so just imagine how behind they are internally.

It's easier to code for a system which all hardware is the same.
Denuvo kills PC gaming because PC gaming is what it is, some people have huge trouble with denuvo and others run their games fine.
I'm not saying it won't be shit, but it could be better.

Doesn't Denuvo do constant checks in the background, which is how it's so hard to crack? Seems like this is a way to murder your microSD cards.

            Anonymous

What makes you think it'll work exactly the same for something that might be a different form of protection?

              Anonymous

I don't know. I just know Denuvo on PC harms your SSD/m.2 drives by wasting read/writes on checks. Who knows. It might get cracked by emulators, it might not. It could take years before we see any meaningful progress on a followup Switch emulator, as well. For all we know all it'll do is make the hardware requirements bloat to such a degree that x86 will be on it's way out before Switch's successor can be run at full speed.
              Or it might not.

              Anonymous

Console version of denuvo probably works like those old anty piracy checks that some DS games had. It's easier to make something like that for consoles because you have just one hardware to code for. PC unfortunately they need to have things running in the background.

I'm not sure how that's going to work? because I'm thinking a basic hardware check is all it takes to bypass denuvo on the switch/2.
unless they're hoping emu devs implement copyrighted code in order to request takedowns, which makes them doubly stupid since it's basically going to work like bios files. it's up to the end user to supply them.

      Anonymous

Nintendo autists are built different, emulators for Nintendo consoles always took like 2 years after the console came out, Jailbreaks came out even faster.
Denuvo is "uncrackable" because most people just don't care about the newest goyslop enough. A lot of pirates are third worlders that have ancient hardware than can't even run those games.
Also before anybody cries about the third worlder comment, I pirate myself but take one look at any piracy related forum and tell me that most aren't indian subhumans

They lose potential profit they would recoup on development and especially advertising costs. I don't care either way and neither should pirates but they do lose something.
Pardon the food analogy, but it's part of the reason why the name brand stuff costs more. You're paying the extra for their marketing and "research" while the store brand just exists alongside it.

        Anonymous

What potential profit? Where is the potential profit in his scenario?
        >you pay more for market and "research" for name brands
        Oh no no no no.
Price is a marketing ploy in of itself. You find the right price to put your brand where you want it to be. People will assume something that costs more often does so because it's 'premium.'
        Take running a bar, for example;
You could afford to sell beer for $1.50 a bottle, or you could sell beer for $3.50 a bottle. But if you sell for $1.50 a bottle, you get the $1.50 a bottle crowd. If you sell for $3.50 you get the $3.50 a bottle crowd.

Why do you think Nintendo never does deep cuts on their games? Because they don't want to be known as the "budget/bargain" game system. They don't sell "cheap crap" that's why old titles are still full price. It's a ploy. It makes people think that it must be good if it's still selling for so much. Instead of thinking it must be crap if it's going for so cheap.

          Anonymous

The potential profit was in the consumer of the game paying for it. The pirate chose to consume for the price of $0. I didn't saying they're losing anything tangible, just potential.

          >Oh no no no no.
I said part of the reason. Not the only reason.

Should or shouldn't literally doesn't matter. If nintendo could take it down, they would. That's why the Black folk focus on trying to drop nukes on rom sites and fan remake projects instead.
Case law for the emulators is already settled as long as emu authors watch their asses though. Nintendo can't do shit unless, and tendies just gotta deal while the world laughs at them.
