It’s a shame since i dont even have a job actually otherwise i shouldve been the US president where the first order is to execute every foreigner and citizen of the country and the other countries as well
No it shouldn't have, because being a Resident Evil game from the beginning informed it's design aspects. It's Resident Evil, but the best possible version of it. With gameplay so fun and timeless it makes the 2023 demake look like a clown show.
People say the same thing about Halloween III: Season of the Witch, but it would be mostly forgotten if not for its connection to the Halloween franchise. It’s called brand recognition.
>no one would’ve been butthurt about it
I love classic RE games but I feel like everyone talking about how RE4 "killed classic RE" is completely out of touch. Classic fixed-camera RE games were selling less and less after RE2 and if RE4 would have been a new, completely different franchise, you'd simply never see another RE game.
RE was always a huge mainstream franchise and them changing the formula so the average normie buys it was inevitable. You're completely delusional if you think the RE2 remake would have sold well with a fixed camera for example. Again, I'm not saying I didn't want RE2make to be fixed-camera, it's just that it wouldn't sell nearly as much
there is no reason to complain. op is right. re has stagnated but 4 was too much. new ip. everyone wins. >wouldnt have sold well
did you play the game? it would have sold just fine. it would have been slower but by PS2 it would be in full bloom
The people who pretend to have been butthurt about it weren't really back then. They're also so insignificant in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. The game was an instant hit with pretty much everyone.
Your suggestion is completely pointless and catering to a non-crowd.
You mean Devil May Cry
came to say this
I don't get it
Devil May Cry was supposed to be a Resident Evil game.
Same with Onimusha.
They ended up better for it, re4 could have been a better game but instead of was a mediocre qte point and clicker.
And nobody would have bought it
nobobdy did till it came out on PS2 hit peak popularity nearly ten years after it's release
You should run Capcom. They would sell billions of dollars with your expert guidance.

A resident evil
Why do you post the shit version
The a prefix says all you need to know about this game

Still a great movie. And yes, being Halloween movie was the reason I watched it.
> oh god my childhood video game series refuses to take the path of stagnation and reinvents itself to keep mass appeal how could they
Every goddamn time. I bet Leon drinks at bar with Sonic and Spyro at weekends, thinking where did he went wrong in life.
Mmhmm and when was the last time you heard anyone bring up The Evil Within games?
No one who matters was buttmad.

Only the most autistic, sniveling pedants are butthurt about it. RE4 was and continues to be universally praised.
The unpopular bards are bad. If they were any good they would have been popular.
a lot of great men werent popular when they were alive.
