They could easily make Bank store on the internal storage of the 3ds via an update and still connect to the Switch via local wifi, but they won't do it.
They're gonna make Bank an offline transfer app so we're not permanently screwed out of our Pokemon, right? Who am I kidding, this is Game Freak we're talking about. If they can't even be assed to code in every Pokemon, they certainly won't allow us to keep transferring our Pokemon.
Maybe some kind of wi-fi workaround could keep it working like with Gen 4 and 5's wifi, but while that could connect Gens 3-5 with 6 and 7, I wonder if Home would accept them as legit Pokemon.

The lessons you're taught throughout the game are not only useless, but directly counter to what you should be doing to succeed and get better at the game.
