I find Silent Hill 3 scarier if we're talking pure horror although I love the school environment in the first one. I played SH1 so often it'sd now comfy to me. God I wish Team Silent would still exist. Signalis is the closest game to ever get to that atmosphere of Silent Hill but only in the parts where you're first person. I still need something with tank controls, mildly controllable camera and a non resi style approach

Yeah right. Animations stiff as hell. Combat is clunky. Enemy encounters scarce. The whole thing wobbles like crap. And the art direction is blatantly stolen from jacobs ladder movie. Snoys just gonna snoy.
It's definitely an iconic game, but I think Toyama topped it with Siren.

I'd recommend the hassle of going with and learning to use Retroarch over Duckstation for SH1. It has the advantage of being able to render at higher resolutions and downsample to the original native res so you get less jaggies but at the same time a consistent cleaner image between the 3D and 2D elements. Plus you get lower latency, CRT shaders, and PGXP as well

I always wrote down the solutions to all the puzzles in a note-pad. That shit is handy on replays.

and the silent hill 2 coin puzzle tells you where to insert them, both are tests to see how good you are at interpreting, which Im not really good at
